This time I went for the traditional animal based versions. The quality of the meat, prepared "medium" just as I requested was exceptional. A good juicy burger. I had a hard time though handling it because it got messy fast. I'm usually more than able with two hands to manage eating a burger, but this one was tough to keep the various ingredients together. A long toothpick would've been nice. The strawberry shake was the star. They know how to make a milkshake at Dutch Boy. a that's easy to see. The fries were generous in size. Unfortunately, like the burger, the temperature of the food was lukewarm. I'm only about 1.5 miles away from Dutch Boy so I expected the food to be warmer. I had to reheat the fries and the burger. The storefront looks like an old timey diner, and even though it no longer serves as the entryway to the tree covered courtyard of Crown Heights' favorite biergarten, the shakes and burgers alone are worth a visit. I'm particularly tickled by the Warm Up Shake, which is made with coffee ice cream, kahlua, and Brady's Irish Cream. Those allergic to almonds be warned that their liqueur contains almonds. My friend and I got the onion rings, 2 burgers (I had the turkey, my friend had the classic), a couple of beers and basically almost every fries they had. EVERYTHING was delicious. The atmosphere is nice and cute, the tables are very close together and the booths that sit at the windows appear to seat toddlers only (the seat itself is very small in width). I walk in and order a chicken burger. After I'm charged and leave a 20% tip in their jar I'm told they're out of chicken burgers. Ok. I'll have the chicken sandwich. They're out. It's 8:15 pm. Came here as an alternative to another restaurant and I am oh so glad that we did. My partner and I both ordered the classic burger with cheese, bacon, and the lettuce. What I love about this place is they cater to all. In addition to a traditional burger, they have turkey burgers, veggie burgers, and an impossible burger. We tried the garlic parm fries and the onion rings. Now the only reason I am not giving this place five stars in because the fries were not that great because they were soggy and the garlic parm was not evenly distributed on the fries. They tasted kind of bland in my opinion. The onion rings were so good; they were crispy and have a nice flavor. I would definitely go with the onion rings instead of the fries when visiting. Wow. So, I've written a great review before but it was only based on a pickup order. Although the service was great and the burger was ridiculously awesome - i still wanted to get a feel of the real deal (dine in) and rate it then. Oh, i've felt it alright. The front of the shop is a burger place (aka burger palace) with dine in tables and a counter with a small selection of beers on tap.....you walk through and find yourself in two different bars/seating area and a huge outdoor seating area (this section is known as "franklin park" between (get ready...) franklin ave and park place. Its bananas. You just have to come and see it yourself....seriously, just come. I've come here twice so far and i've gotten the same burger each time. (the bacon with blue cheese piece-of-effin-heaven burger) and its just been so good to me. i'll be more adventurous my next visit. I was drawn into this whimsically named establishment by their nostalgic advertising. That, and I had time to kill before a Yelp event being held around the corner. They specialize in burgers, and their posted menu had all the hallmarks that I would be in for a good meal. On my first night as a Prospect/Crown Heightsian (depending on who you ask, the border of these 'hoods is so up in the air) my boo, roommates/friends and I wandered through the mean streets of Prospect/Crown Heights in search of delicious foodstuffs. (In fairness, we were exhausted...so our lack of enthusiasm had less to do with Dutch Boy Burger and more with our aimless wandering/sleepiness) I ordered the macaroni and cheese, an order of cheese and gravy fries, and a roasted marshallow milkshake made from Blue Marble ice cream. Everyone else ordered burgers and fries and various other shakes. Consensus was that the burgers were "almost Shake Shack good," which I cannot attest to as I did not try them. HOWEVER, I must say that my cheese and gravy fries were out of this world amazing. Whoa. Even as I could feel myself getting fatter and fatter eating this plate of greasy, gravy-soused goodness, I didn't care. The fries were crisp and the cheese and gravy really made the dish outstanding. Oy vey...totally worth the thousands of calories (I'm assuming) that I spent on them. The mac n cheese, on the other hand, was poor. It was runny, had very little flavor, and was underwhelming to say the least. Sad days, as mac n cheese and I are normally besties. The restaurant is attached to a bar in the back and the restaurant front section is small with about 8 tables in the front. The burgers and curly fries are pretty good and are a decent price. It is pretty messy since it's a bar in the back and the front is small and super busy it's hard for workers to keep it clean. I am disappointed at my visit because I requested to sit in the front both with my boyfriend and the host said no because it's for parties larger than 2. I'm usually understanding when a restaurant is pretty crowded, but today it isn't crowded and there are other tables available. Since I don't like to back talk with the host since they are handling food I sat in a seat that is for a party of 2. To my surprise 10 minutes later a couple walks in and sits at the seat that I want to sit. ****Advice to management****, let people sit where they want to sit when it's not crowded. My friend had the lobster roll with fries, which looked pretty substantial.
