3 eggs and corned beef hash
Jay B.

Aah, Concord. A fine city poised in a renowned history of prestige, really old looking grandfather clocks, and cozy casual grease spoon diners, apparently. Only thing....this one is odd because of its entrance. Actually, it has two. And the staff don't seem to care which one you use. You can imagine how much of a dingus I felt like after second, third, and even fourth guessing myself as I almost entered (then exited, then entered, then exited again) what appeared to be the back entrance. So, yeah. Turns out...it makes no difference which entrance you use. Because neither is the front. How do I know that? Because there was no hostess podium. Why is there no hostess podium? Because you can apparently seat yourself here. Yup, they roll like that. In fact, if I could describe this place in one word, it would be....chill. This place was very....chill. You can sit where ever you want, the food tastes homemade, and they pick up the check from the table for you (I wasn't sure if I'd have to bring the check to the front cashier like a few other casual breakfast places do). What really surprised me was the delivery time for my order. Guess how long I had to wait for my plate. Guess. You'll never guess. 5 minutes. You read that correctly. 5. Whole. Minutes. And the food still tasted fresh and delicious. I dunno how they do it. But McD's ain't got nuthin' on this place! Also....huge props to the cooks in the kitchen for ACTUALLY BUTTERING THE TOAST!! Seriously. I'd like to hand out gold stars to every chef on the job that day. Because everything from the hash to the toast tasted sensational! And yes. Toast gets butter. Always. Fight me. Moving on.. Only reason I can't go perfect on this one is because of their confusing entrance(s) configuration; plus the fact that their coffee tastes kinda lame and forgettable (almost like Folgers). Anyways, The Windmill Restaurant gets 4 logistically illogical labyrinths of entrances out of 5.

This is your run of the mill breakfast place. No frills, just a good morning meal. Staff was super nice and the food came out fast.

Bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a grilled English muffin with home fries.

We were passing through Concord on our way to Plymouth area. We stopped for breakfast and were very happy we did. We were greeted with smiles as well as very friendly waitstaff. The restaurant has a very cozy and inviting atmosphere. The food delivery was Very Fast and plentiful. I had a sausage mushroom broccoli cheese omelette with sliced tomatoes instead of the usual potatoes and toast. My husband had an egg bacon and cheese sandwich on an English muffin and really enjoyed it. The sandwich comes with two eggs which was great and made the sandwich very filling. The English muffin was grilled not toasted so he really loved everything about it. The service was excellent and very attentive.

This is a really cute, homey place. We arrived here for lunch and were told to sit wherever we wanted. My parents and I sat at a booth and poured over the extensive menu. They have a little of everything here and you can order breakfast until 2. We thought about that, mom did decide to have a pancake. Dad and I both went for the Hawaiian steak tips. The restaurant was clean and the staff was super friendly and seemed to really be having fun. They were all busy refilling drinks and taking orders and cleaning up tables. It was fairly busy when we arrived and it seems they have quite a bit of local traffic here as they were talking to many customers by name. The steak tips were not what I was expecting, but they were quite good. It was essentially thin pieces of teriyaki beef with a side of green beans and fries. (I had fries, dad had mashed taters) I had a soup before the meal, which was really good. It was a homemade veggie soup. Dad opted for the cole slaw. If you want a casual place to sit and relax for awhile, this is a good place to go. It wasn't super amazing, but it was good food at a good price.

They offered to put them in now, but we decided to decline. Server came over to apologize in a very casual way, like maybe she forgets a lot of things through out the day (I could never be a server, so I get it) but she did write down our order and she verified dipping sauce, so I don't really know how she forgot to put our order in correctly. I honestly just chalked it up to us being fat so we didn't really need them anyway, oh well. This location is convenient, so we will be back, but I do prefer the Portsmouth location, or even Bedford. But this one is good too, it just seems like on the days they are open later, the staff is a little less... helpful. Maybe we will stick to brunch hours and see how that works. The menu here has also changed, and we really miss the old menu. The selections are now mediocre, and things you could get anywhere else. I miss the unique menu of things that were creative and layered, and just different. The menu now consists of 2 small pages, with pancakes, omelets, eggs Benedict, burritos, and a few lunch options with burgers. The hot chick sandwich is really great, but it was better before when it was called something else. It feels like the menu went a little *New England white tastebuds* instead of keeping the flavorful, unique items. I'm only taking away one star for the menu change. Our server not putting our order in correctly was annoying, especially since I only order apps because my blood sugar was low and thought they'd come out quickly, but it wasn't enough to keep me from coming back. I just hope they will bring back the old menu.

The servers are bright and happy and helpful, the food is delicious. The jumbo cheddar tots are so incredibly crave worthy. We both ordered extra spicy bloody Mary's, Hubby had the sklarmageddon omelette and I had the Monte Madame, which is a croque madame on a French toasted croissant. Oh my gosh, everything was so good, and we had serious leftovers. Unlike other locations, we didn't have much of a wait on this particular day, but I would imagine it fills up pretty quickly, so add yourself to the waitlist if you can.

This place is great. It's pricey...so be prepared for that…read more My brother got the avocado toast, ( I think thats what it was) and loved it. I didn't get any food. I ordered a smoothie. Banana/strawberry and holy shit it was incredible!!! I. LOVED. IT!!! Damn it was good. I think it was like $12 tho? Am I crazy to think...meh, it's ok, (the price) I was on a holiday and you are supposed to enjoy whatever? haha!! I would normally never spend that much on a freaking smoothie! HOWEVER! Once we got into Manchester, VT....we saw another The Works Bakery...I SHO DID get another one lol. I was surprised to see that this place is a chain. When we were in Concord...it kind of felt like this was a place exclusive to Concord. Nah, it's not. Thats ok tho. I got a smoothie at a coffee house in just outside Bar Harbor and it was absolute garbage. So it was nice to have one where they actually have you what you ordered. Most places in Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire all allow dogs. I travel with my little Yorkie wherever I go. Alfred loves to travel haha! He is my child...seeing as I do not have any human kids. My dog is my life. So it's nice when you go into places and they welcome dogs. This place....does not tho. Thats boooo! HOWEVER! I TOTALLY understand! I TRULY do! I travel with my dog everywhere, but yes, I do realize this place is a restaurant and they all have their rules. I just love restaurants that allow dogs haha! I am not one of those psychos that will tear a place apart about not allowing dogs. I am one who actually respects policies like this. And yes, I bring my dog with me bc it's just me...and my dog. He is a 6lb Yorkie who I will never leave alone nor would I ever kennel him. I say all this bc so many people out there judge others who bring their dogs everywhere. He is a family member. He comes with me. Just go to this place wherever you run into one. It really is a great place. They were all SO nice in there even when they asked my take Alfie back outside. OH for the record too...I carry my little man everywhere with me. He's not like...running around everywhere...marking his territory lol Atmosphere in this location is very nice. Kinda dark and Lodgy feeling. Its nice. Located too in what I am assuming is a historic building. Noce view of the downtown area too if you take you lunch or whatever outside to their outdoor seating...which I am guessing is probably brought in now...seeing as it is almost December. Ok thats it. I know I rambled a lot here, but I feel it all fits with my review. I ramble a lot to begin with. If you read this...thank you! If you didn't...I will sleep in 5 mins and sleep like a baby :) Thank you The Works for a wonderful first experience. I live in Idaho. Wish we had you here. Thanks for reading YelperWorkers! The place was packed and it was clear why since for the price and what you got, it is probably the best sandwich place around. Wonderful little lunch stop!…read more It was full of locals and regulars and on a wait for lunch. At that moment I knew I had picked a good spot! We chilled with the folks up front for a good bit before getting a table. It seemed we were the only people that had not been here 30-40 times before. Most people didn't even want menus and the sweet server ladies just brought them food without conversation at all. It's kind of old school feeling inside. It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. Inside is all wooden and rustic. It reminds me of my grandmas house in Camden TN. Not sure why. It's just really comfortable in here to me. The tile and fireplaces make super cozy. This place has some of the best chili that I have had in a long time. I dig the fact they give tortilla shops automatically with the chili. Win!! Thick and meaty and oh so filled with spice and love!! Cheese on top was a nice touch too. Really liked it! My French dip was fucking killer!! So damn big too! I could only eat half of it because of the the fire ass chili I had already eaten. French fries were battered type. Nothing wrong with that!! I drove around with this sandwich for two days of travel and ate it on the road later. Stupendous French dip!! C had an open faced roast beef sandwich. FIRE!! The green beans were so pretty and fresh too. She could barely get 1/3 down, lol. It was a ton of food. Economical! Hometown feel! Good people working and eating here! I love it!! I'm not even sure I could find the place again. I sure am glad I did the first time! '26 -39
