Took my fairly particular 4 and 5 year old boys to a late breakfast last Saturday. We quickly received all the kind attention you could ask for with a couple of boisterous kids. When ordering, where a kids or smaller portion made sense it was (correctly) recommended rather than me finding out after the kids were over served and feeling like I wasted money or pressure to take home a bunch of leftovers. The kiddos request for a certain crayon was even attended to with a smile. Sat down at a booth and right away the server was there asking what to drink. I love that when their that quick. Coffee and an OJ was brought. I love the coffee it is semi strong and always piping hot. After we ordered we were able to watch the local news on weather while it was cool and smells of good cooking in the air. Wow this is a gem with a mostly older crowd the food here is very good with a well stocked menu. I had a brisket Biscuit sandwich it was very good. The waitress we had was very friendly and very attentive but the whole waitstaff was attentive is someone other than our waitress was walking by they would ask us if we needed our coffee topped off. This is my new go to place for breakfast! I have been here a few times; without posting, just to see how things really are. Their food is exceptional. They have a fairly small menu; which insures the quality and freshness of the ingredients. They also have a "Special of the Day" menu boards, here and there within the cafe. These change daily. My favorite is the "Biscuits and Gravy." They don't have it every day though. Everything that I have ordered has been very fresh. Everyone that has taken my order has been very nice and knowledgeable of the menu. They seem to have the same staff; which means that they are happy and treated well. Many baked goods - including raisin and maple breads, various muffins and scones, and the lauded grilled cinnamon roll - are made in house, as is the "like canned but much better" corned beef hash. Servers surveyed the room and had a check book at every table: when you're ready to order, you flip it face up and whomever is nearby will stop by and take your pleasure. The cinnamon roll served as a bonus dish, and I went hash and eggs with the specialty raisin bread ($0.35 premium - what am I, a Rockefeller?) Strong coffee and salty hash, lean and flavorful with a smattering of potatoes. The raisin toast was burnt, but that's okay. Eggs were over medium like *chef's kiss* and I can say with certainty buttered cinnamon rolls are not try thing. If they were, this was a super rich take on one. My teeth ached immediately. Wasn't looking for a huge breakfast. I just wanted an egg sandwich, and I tried their house favorite with tomato, onion and bacon - loved it! They even put it on a bagel for me. My husband tried the pork pie, and that was not as impressive as the reviews led us to believe. It was 80% potato and that's all I could taste. Not like grandma makes. Hash was good, however. First time eating here today and its our new breakfast place, hands done! The panfries were everything you'd want them to be, the service was prompt and the bill wasn't heartbreaking. I had the Belgian waffle with a side of hot sausage. The waffle had a delightful vanilla flavor and the sausages were flavorful without being overpowering. We all love a Neighborhood "friendly, feels like family, breakfast and lunch place" , don't we? Yes, we do. We have many great ones to select from. Having "my own favorite local place, on those mornings you, just do not want to eat at home or cook, is a blessing in life,especially these days. I love a place and servers that feel like home. We all love greetings and friendly smiles of our local diner wait staff, who become friends. You know, " the ones who get you, know your favorite menu items, and keep the coffee coming! Oh Yeah! My experience used to be just that at Francoer's. At least it was until the past few months. This is NOT the review I hoped to write. I have been struggling how to address my opinion, as a surprised customer, for a few months now. With the arrival of a new waitress, who I think is named Laura, the atmosphere changed dramatically. I experienced a rushed cold attitude of annoyance when I "needed to ask for a refill of my coffee" while having breakfast. A few times, her lack of service or interest to simply refresh my coffee was stunning, became habitual, and repeated every time I ate at Francoers. Sometimes, Karen or April would observe and kindly come refresh my cup. I became bolder recently and called Laura over to fill my cup. Her response was, "Oh, you'll have to wait, I will do that in a few minutes." I really thought, "Oh they must be making a fresh pot." Trusting she was serious. However, her choice was to stand and engage in a lengthy conversation with (possibly, her friends ) at a table with four people right next to me.Once again, I got up went to the counter where the REAL friendly professional Service Staff happily filled my cup as they apologized for me needing to come ask. I waited, hoping experiences I've had a few times (with a new staff member) was a training issue or would simply improve. It has not. I am not a negative grumbling person, I give people the benefit of the doubt, as I have for months now. I am a professional business woman who understands customer service ,the importance of training, and how attitude impacts profitability. Perhaps this young independent woman would be better suited for another job or career. I really like Francouer's menu, delicious food. I enjoy the excellent attitudes and warm service of Kelly, Karen, and April. I want to support them. I have met the owners, and they were welcoming,friendly ,and always made me feel appreciated. To support all the truly customer service based owners and employees, I am compelled after all these months to write this review. We all make mistakes. Francoeur's Café opened recently in the former DW Diner II space next to Gyroscope on South Main Street, under new ownership, which also owns Café On The Oval in Milford. They are open for breakfast (served all day) and lunch on Tuesday-Sunday from 6AM to 2PM. As for the food, the breakfast food offerings the standard egg dishes, omelettes (3 eggs), breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, waffles, homemade hash, cereal, muffins, and breakfast sides. The lunch offerings include soups, chili, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, dinner plates (mac & cheese, chicken tenders, liver & onions, meatloaf, pork pie, open faced sandwiches, quesadilla, side dishes, and desserts. The prices here seem fair, most entrees in the $6 to $10 range. The place is casual which has ample tables and booths in the full service dining room. The laminated menus are at each table. I stopped in here for breakfast recently on a typical weekday. The place was not very busy and I could seat myself at any open table. The waitress arrived promptly to ask me if I wanted coffee ($2.05), which was a definite yes for me and she pointed out the specials on the board (dry erase marker), which looked similarly written as the specials board at Café On The Oval. For breakfast, I ordered the Corned Beef Hash & Cheese Omelette with Pan Fries and Homemade Maple Toast ($8.45). The food came out really quickly, like in 5 minutes after ordering. The portion of food was just right, not too heavy and big. The omelette was filled with a very soft corned beef/potato hash, melted American cheese in a folded egg sheet. The pan fries (fresh cut potatoes) were firm and browned, decent in my opinion. The homemade maple toast was buttered, Smuckers preserves on the table. The food here was good and the check for one came out to $11.45 with tax and before tip. The service was very attentive. The waitstaff worked as a team, taking turns walking around the dining room with the coffee pot offering refills and keeping mugs warm and also clearing dishes from tables. I must've had close to 4 cups of hot coffee, which was brewed just right. I will have to come back for lunch soon! read more

I feel like I need to give two separate reviews: one for lunch, and one for breakfast, because they were vastly different experiences. It also depends which server you get, because most are very friendly but there is one in particular (don't know her name, but will update if I find out) who is consistently unfriendly and inattentive. It is thanks to this waitress and my most recent experience that brings the rating down from a 4 to a 2. I almost always order the buffalo chicken tenders with fries because they're amazing (though just a little too much sauce, they're very intense). On my most recent visit, I decided to order breakfast, and I was severely disappointed. I ordered sausage eggs benedict. When it arrived at my table it looked... off. The eggs were too jiggly. When I dragged a fork through it, I got all clear, raw egg. How does this even happen? Our waitress (the "bad" one) was nowhere to be found as usual so we had to stop another passing waitress, who was happy to get the dish remade. When the dish came back out the eggs were perfect, but the English muffin was burnt to a crisp. Needless to say, I'll stick with the buffalo chicken... and hope for a different waitress. read more

My brother and his girlfriend suggested this place, it is one of their favorite places in Manchester so of course while there visiting we had to check it out! I got a classic eggs benedict and shared a grilled cinnamon roll with my mom. This was one of the best benedict I've had! It was just perfect: runny egg, plentiful amount of ham, the hollandaise sauce complemented the rest of the dish and the english muffin was toasted ideally. The cinnamon roll is a local favorite and a "must buy" I could see why! I'm on a bit of a diet for health reasons and couldn't stop pecking at this cinnamon roll, it was delicious. Classic breakfast place. The inside is pretty large so if you have a large party for breakfast you should be seated fairly quickly. The service was very good! The waitresses seated us immediately on a busy Sunday morning and the menus are right on the table so it was easy to decide what to eat. I got the homemade corned beef hash with eggs and toast with over medium eggs. Food came out within 5-10 minutes and there were 3 of us. Service was fantastic but the food was just okay. Corned beef hash was definteily homemade but the meal was just plain. I tried the pancakes which were very good so I recommend this but overall I would recommend the hash because it was just okay. My meal came with potatoes which didn't not have any seasoning at all. The reason I gave it a 4 star because service was great! Let me start by saying that I love a place that makes their own soups. It just screams "We care"! The service at this place is great, waitstaff is attentive and really knowledgeable. I get nervous that cafes such as this, especially on the West side, will serve old people food... bland, boring, with little variety on the menu. But Francoeur's is not that cafe AT ALL! I had the pork pie with mashed potatoes and gravy. The potatoes have that awesome lumpy, obviously home made texture, the gravy was rich without being heavy. The pork pie was yum. The soup of the day was corn chowder, which is not my favorite, but this was great! The ONLY drawback to this delightful little cafe is the dessert offerings. They need pie. read more

In the grand scheme of things, I would rate this place as a great neighborhood stop, but not the kind of place I would go out of the way for. If I lived local, I know I would keep coming back, hence the 4 stars. If my travels brought me close enough, I'd consider stopping again. It's hard for me to give five stars so if I could I would give 4.5! Service was friendly and efficient here/ lots of smiling and a good attitude with genuine friendliness. Our server replaced my coffee for a coke without judgement when I didn't like the coffee (yes, it's that typical, watery diner coffee---so sad because that's where the half point loss comes in). I just want good coffee in life! The food was pretty tasty! We both got biscuits and gravy with eggs and panfries. The biscuits were nice and soft and the gravy was delicious-- it did need some pepper to flavor it up a little, though. It'The eggs were cooked nicely and the pan fries were nice and crispy (deep fried) like I requested. Things appeared to be pretty clean from where we sat. We will definitely return!
