Stopped in last week for a midweek dinner date with my spouse because sometimes Wednesday calls for pretending it's T.G.I.F. The menu is on the smaller side. Let's just say... making a decision was not an issue. There are limited entrée options which gave me the impression that those were not the real crowd favorites. On the bright side, the restaurant wasn't busy at all, which made for a relaxed, unhurried dinner, which is always appreciated. Service was...ok. Not horrible, not memorable or friendly, just living comfortably in the "okay" lane. Food followed the same theme. My spouse ordered the fish and chips -- generous portion, but heavy on the breading/batter?there were regular cut fries, but piping hot and clearly fresh, so no complaints there. I went with the salmon. The lemon butter sauce and I simply did not form an emotional connection and I broke it off with the sauce early, but the small side salad was solid and the buttered broccoli actually stole the show. Also pretty sure I was gifted two servings of ranch dressing, just too much. No photos this time mostly because nothing screamed, "memorable" or "amazing". Book Club was back at The Common Man Roadside again this month. Sat in our own room-it may be a breakfast room in the morning. Very comfortable for our group. I had the Herb Crusted Haddock Dinner which was very good. I chose Brussels and quinoa as my sides-very good. My friend also got the same dinner but got sides of a Caesar Salad & Brussels. Dried Flower Resin Jewelry Class at The Common Man Millyard - A Creative & Relaxing Night! My friend and I attended a dried flower resin jewelry-making class tonight at The Common Man Millyard in Manchester, NH, and it was such a fun and relaxing evening! The two-hour class gave us the chance to get creative with our designs--we each made a necklace and matching earrings, adding our own personal touches to make them unique. The Common Man offered a delicious blueberry lemonade mocktail that was perfectly refreshing. I also ordered the fried steak and cheese egg rolls (shaved steak, peppers, onions, and cheese wrapped in an egg roll and served with beer cheese) - absolutely delicious! Our server was super friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. While the class itself was great, the event room was a bit tight and didn't allow food at the crafting tables (understandably, to prevent spills), but there were only a few designated spots to sit and eat. Next time, I'd definitely plan to arrive earlier to enjoy dinner in the main dining room before the class starts. Overall, it was a lovely event--a great mix of creativity, good food, and a welcoming atmosphere. Had a work lunch here for a party of 10. It was noon but the place was not packed. We sat immediately and ordered drinks and eventually food. At 1pm food had still not come out although we did see a pile of stuff sitting under the lamps. We were thinking maybe we were waiting on one persons order or something. It was all sandwiches and salads so I bet the kitchen is understaffed because it should not take an hour for that. The salad I had was okay except the lettuce was less than fresh- now I do believe it was sitting under a heat lamp so that could be the culprit but either way it was a $20 salad with meh quality. The proximity to work is great so I will likely be back but I wish they would work on the speed. read more

So this restaurant is located on the ground floor of the tru hotel. There's parking in front of the restaurant and in the tru hotel lot if it's not full. I'll start out with the positives, the staff here is friendly and attentive. The manager is actually a nice guy with a very calm demeanor, I know he's trying the best to deal with challenging circumstances. Decor is also quite charming, it's definitely got a new Hampshire bar vibe to it with ample TVs to watch the games by the bar. I'll keep this to the point, the food here is not good. So this place place is similar to a college cafeteria or hospital cafeteria. If you're going to eat here, do not order any of the meat dishes. Stick to the sandwiches and bar classics. We sent back our entrees because they looked and tasted terrible. For the price. We expected much more. read more

I've been to the Concord location several times, but before a Jeff Dunham show @ the SNHU with a room at the Tru by Hilton, this was a quick walk in between to get some dinner. I think the staff seemed a bit stressed & there was a shift change when we arrived, but we were seated timely. The bar is definitely a faster avenue than waiting for a table. Great atmosphere being amongst the mill buildings in the city. The sun was in our eyes but a staff member caught on & closed the shades. Everyone was great & accommodating. The fish & chips for $22 was worth every cent. The breading was light, not overly greasy & talk about an ENTIRE piece of fish! The fries were awesome; they provided a perfect amount. My husband loved the BBQ Bacon Burger - biggest point is that the burger patty was clearly made fresh & was cooked to his request of medium rare. we have been to Comman Man's before with great results, this one left us cold. ordered the crab Rangoon dip.... a mass of cheese with a very OFF flavor. I got a ribeye, cooked perfectly but it had absolutely zero flavor. had hoped to have the prime rib shown on the website and on the menu. Turns out that the menu online and the table menu are old and the prime rib is no longer available. Parmesan fries were inedible. Brussels sprouts were just ok. wife had the haddock, again, it had no flavor. after drinks and the app, the server delivered the food, came back to check on it, my wife was obviously not happy, sever never responded, just moved on. not a great experience any which way you look at it. We stopped for lunch on a Tuesday and the place was starting to warm up. It was hard to tell from the street whether the space was open or not. We were warmly welcomed and seated with a window view. Lots of space, clean and well lighted. My favorite fish and chips; cod of course was perfect and the fries were crispy and flavorful. My lunch companion had a bowl with steak tips which was awesome. Nothing left in that bowl. I'm a dessert guy and their crème brûlée cheesecake was big, fresh and oh so good. Service was prompt and attentive. We came early in the morning for breakfast. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. We each ordered a sausage egg and cheese sandwich however mine was on an English muffin and my boyfriends on an everything bagel. The food was good. The English muffin is different than the traditional English muffing I was expecting. It was almost chewier which threw me off a bit. I stopped by The Common Man Roadside Millyard for dinner recently. Located under the back of the Tru Hotel on the Commercial St side, this sitdown restaurant and bar has a casual rustic modern feel here with TVs in the bar section which has 14 beers on draft, wine, and cocktails. This place is not as rustic and dim as a typical Common Man restaurant that also offers complimentary self serve cheese & crackers, but not at the CM Roadside restaurants. They offer appetizers, wings, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, salads, chili, pasta bowls, dinner entrees (steaks, chicken, shot ribs, fish & chips, salmon, crispy pork belly bowl), and desserts. They also offer daily Happy Hour drink and food specials 3pm-7pm. Upon arriving around 6pm, I was promptly seated at a table in the bright dining room and given menus. I started out with 2 Happy Hour apps including the Brussel Sprouts ($6 plus tax) and Poutine ($8 plus tax). The roasted brussel sprouts were light and charred as expected mixed with bacon bits and parmesan cheese. The poutine had firm golden fries topped with a light gravy and thick melted cheese curds, and pretty decent. For dinner, the Pulled Pork Mac ($15 plus tax) was served very hot in a black square dish, a saucy mac & cheese with al dente cavatappi pasta, sliced onions and tender pieces of pulled pork with a sweet BBQ sauce. I needed a box for my food and passed on dessert. The check total was $31.47 with tax and before tip. Overall, good tasty eats and acceptable friendly service in a downtown Millyard location next to the Notre Dame Bridge. read more

Not too bad the service was ok had a few small problems but the host. Did ask the manager when she did not know a few of the questions I asked. Was in town for the SNHU graduation. Great food, great service!! They even had a special graduation menu. Fish tacos were amazing!

A very disappointing experience. I like the atmosphere and the hostess was a hoot. However, I had the Fish N Chips and a beer. The fish was breaded, not battered. The chips were just French fries. The beer was supposed to be 20oz, but was 16oz. When the bill came with a 20oz price, my wife brought this up to the waitress who then told her she was wrong. I have drank enough beer to know the difference. A shame - I won't be back. read more

I had the misfortune of attending The Common Man's "Buck a Shuck" night on Thursday 5/10. The only reason this review is not one star is because the owner or manager there comp'd our "meal" at the end. TL;DR We arrived for a 5:45 pm reservation and were promptly forgotten about by the hostess as soon as we were seated. We watched later reservations and walksins receive food we ordered before being told they had run out for us. Everything was slow. Terrbile experience, cannot recommend. We had a reservation for 5:45 and had reserved 30 oysters. When we arrived the hostess seated someone that had a 6:00 PM reservation before us despite us arriving promptly to the counter at 5:45. At the counter we also heard the hostess going back and forth with some walk-ins about how they were putting her in a tough spot. I didn't think of anything of it at the time as we had reserved the oysters ahead of time and a restaurant running out of seafood on a seafood themed night would have been silly. The hostess seated us outside and obviously forgot to assign us a server. We went some time without being approached by a server until one finally asked if we had been helped yet. The service was slow throughout the night with constant excuses about how they had more walk-ins than they expected. It took over twenty minutes to receive our first drinks. (it took twenty minutes for our drinks to arrive). About 30 minutes into our wait we were told that they had run out of shrimp. Multiple people at our table had ordered the Shrimp so we had to make new orders. We ordered the mussels instead only to be told twenty minutes later that they had also run out of mussels. At this point we had been there for an hour and received no food and had to make new orders. I declined and the only reason we did not leave is because my fiance loves oysters and we had reserved them so surely we would at least receive them. Meanwhile around us we can see the people from the 6:00 pm reservation and walkins receiving the last of the mussels and shrimp that we had ordered, in addition to oysters. Finally after well over an hour we received 16 oysters and a bowl of clam chowder with apologies from the owner/manager. A joke of an experience. I will not be returning. read more

Middling food, apathetic customer service. I have yet to eat at a Michelin-starred restaurant. But, given the hoopla surrounding the competition for and attainment of Michelin stars, I have to assume the service is top notch in the establishments that get them. Obviously, I was not expecting that sort of treatment when I stopped here for breakfast, but a level of service vaguely indicating some appreciation for my business would have been nice. The person who seated me acted as if he had been hired just five minutes before I walked in. He just looked at me as if I had a third eyeball in the middle of my forehead until I asked, "Can I get a table?" Then, I watched this same person be quite a bit more cordial with at least two different customers who came in after me. As I had never before been to a Common Man restaurant, or met this person, I am uncertain as to what accounts for his indifferent attitude toward me. I was given a half a glass of orange juice which turned out to be over $5. The server brought my food and dropped it quickly; didn't ask could she get me anything else, in which case I could have replied "more syrup, please", as my food arrived with a small amount of syrup already on my pancake and there was none on the table. My server never checked with me mid-meal to see if I needed or perhaps wanted to order something else. I did not see her again until I waved her down to let her know that my eggs were lacking the cheese I had asked for and to request that I not be charged for it instead of her bringing some cheese out, as she offered (at this point, the eggs were cool and it would not have melted so I could mix it in). She asked me at the end if I wanted anything else, but, by that point, I was ready to leave and sorry I had stayed in the first place. Frankly, I should have left home early enough to make it to McDonald's to grab a McGriddle combo, which is what I wanted. It would have cost about 2/3 as much, would have been hotter, and I would have at least gotten a full cup of orange juice. I must admit I was mystified, as well as a bit miffed. It was not as if the place was standing room only and it was all they could do to keep up. I counted four servers walking around and perhaps four tables occupied, including mine. My wife suggested I just call the manager directly and let them know of my experience. When I did, the person with whom I spoke (after being on hold) offered none of the customer service-y stuff one would typically receive from someone competent in this area: "I'm sorry you did not have a good experience with us today. What can we do to make it right?" or "How can we do better going forward?" In fact, the purported manger sounded like the person who seated me, which, if he is really one of the managers, as he said, I can understand why the service is not so good. The space itself was clean and very nice, though. Lately, there seem to be more news articles about how consumers are curbing their spending on eating out, and I can understand why. It seems like we pay ever higher prices for ever lower quality product and service. I'm not looking for a ticker tape parade when I patronize any business, just to be treated with a modicum of courtesy and respect. Didn't get too much of that here. read more

Reserved a table for many friends a family. confirmed prior we all arrived a sat a waited for service, which was slow when one of our guests complained we were then told no one would be served ! shut our entire table off mind you I've been to places an would understand if few people were not served but we had more than half our table who had not had any prior drinks. we left an went a Em Ross street an this restaurant called over an told them not to allow us in. we let them know we were guests at Hotel then also proceeded to contact our hotel which resulted in more issues to what should of been an evening after our wedding.
