What a charming spot. Perfect for brunch for a girl's meet up or for a couple's anniversary. Very pretty decor-and like, decor with a plan, you know? So many places seem sort of patched together; here there was definitely thought put into the design, both inside and out - where there are lots of blooming plants this time of year. Yes, there is a "windmill" - it's part of the attached nursery. The Bistro is part of a small complex that also includes a salon and a tea shop. They were very organized, very busy - reservations are MUST -- definitely do not walk in. We were there for a birthday so we splurged on pineapple mimosas (they have four kinds of mimosas and you can order a "flight" if you want); blueberry cheesecake; a flatbread for a starter, which was delicious; and then I got the turkey cranberry sandwich, which was the only disappointment - it was very bland; I think they relied too heavily on the ingredients providing the flavor; needed some seasoning; I was adding salt and pepper which I never do; my friend got the eggs benedict and was very pleased. Last minute date night for my Husband and I. I loved this place. From the atmosphere, and the service was on point. Very cute outdoor patio area for a nice sunny day! The drinks were delicious and the prices were reasonable. I was sad to not been about to get 2 of the appetizers I wanted to try because they had already ran out for the day..but would definitely go and try them on my next visit. Honestly, I think the Windmill Bistro is one of my new favorite spots. Good food, good drinks, and such a cute place to spend the morning. I came here on a sunny Saturday morning with my best friend. We were hoping to get in quick to eat, but it ended up being a 40 minute wait. Luckily, there is SO MUCH to explore in the Windmill Village that it wasn't that big of a deal at all. We asked for a seat outside and were given plenty of options (shade, no shade, some shade?) and went with some shade. It was perfect weather for eating outside! The menu doesn't have a ton of selection, but it's narrowed down to the classics and they do everything really well. I went with the Corned Beef Hash and my best friend did the Chicken Fried Steak. The beef was a little on the dry side for me, unfortunately. I always LOVE Corned Beef Hash and so that was a bit of a bummer. Still has a lot of flavor though. My best friend said the gravy in the Chicken Fried Steak was some of the best she'd ever had. We also ordered a side of pancakes to share and those were good. Light, fluffy, and the perfect amount of sweetness! Ended up getting the Bloody Mary for my beverage and it was perfect. Not too spicy but a great kick. What a shame. They got rid of the best thing on the menu, the spare rib dinner. It was mouthwatering. They replaced it with a Spare Rib Stroganoff, equally mouthwatering...and then got rid of it too!! The replacement is now a small bowl of Spare Rib gray with a side of soggy bread saturated in butter. A few tiny bits of meat but very, very few. Who made these decisions Jake? So maybe a nice Ribeye or Filet with some garlic mashed..no can do. The only steak now on the menu is a Pub Steak! What the heck is a Pub Steak I asked the waitress. She looked down as she answered "a chuck steak". ‍ $14.50 for a Old Fashioned is ok I guess when it's paired with a great meal, but a chuck steak? Who's making these decision? We arrived at 6:30 for a 7:00 reservation. We were told they could not seat us early because of a staff issue? We were told we could sit outside. We saw other guests walk in later and get seated. One couple got to sit at the bar. That was not offered. We walked in at 6:59 and waited for the receptionist to come and seat us. We were finally seated and given menus and water. Never saw a waitress again. Not offered drinks or anything. We will NEVER be back. $40 a plate and being treated badly doesn't get our money. read more

My husband and I finally tried The Windmill Bistro in Sumner WA. What a gem! The dining room is very comfortable, with plenty of space, and not too loud. They have a spacious outside eating patio as well, we'll likely try that next time! The staff was very friendly, and responsive. Our waitress was great about offering her suggestions on which dishes we should try, and she absolutely steered us in the right direction with the beef stroganoff. So glad I trusted the reviews and found this spot! Great location, darling decor both inside and out - I sat at the bar for lunch and service was quick and super friendly. I ordered the Harvest bowl with the maple-tahini dressing and added chicken...and then my eyes found the truffle fries! They make their own cocktail sauce, which was perfect for dipping (the fries didn't need a sauce, I'm just a sucker for a house made cocktail sauce). We were advised to come here and I've been meaning to since we moved. We finally went on a Sunday afternoon and brought my mom who is visiting us. We were sat fairly quickly, but the tables were SO sticky. It was quite gross to eat and get stuck on the table. The place itself is cute and quaint, service was fine. My hash was not flavored whatsoever. I'm talking no salt, no pepper. In fact, I took my husband "salsa verde" and poured it on for some flavor. My husband was disappointed that his chorizo burrito had no chorizo and the salsa verde was bland. My mom's avocado toast was moist looking and it was avocado already not spread avocado which is important to note. Avocado spread has avocado but isn't true avocado and we definitely noticed. We are not fans personally but I know people love it so I'd recommend going to experience it yourself. read more
