It was our first visit last night. I'm all for constructive criticism so that's why I'm here. Pros: Food was great. My wife said the chicken parmigiana was one of the best examples she's ever had. She usually isn't into red sauce that much but she loved it. Most of us had the salmon, which I think was cooked just right and was well presented. It's kind of a weird location but it works that it has a lot of parking. The inside's nice and clean, the people we engaged with there were pleasant/service was good. Cons: Main issue last night was how long it took to get our meal: I think it took over an hour. I don't fault a place for a single slow experience, and the waitress was apologetic about the delay, but for the level of establishment it is, it would've been nice for the table to have been given some free bread or something to munch on as an apology for the wait. The inside was pretty smoky when we got there, light beams cast. Not sure if smoke derived from cooking or the inside fireplace (insert?) but my wife's sensitive to the smoke, so her eyes were bothering her for a bit. She was talking about possibly needing to go outside when I think the AC kicked in and the air quality improved. Otherwise, I'd say the main con is it's on the pricey side. Like after tax the salmon is almost $50, no salad/side included, and it's not a large portion. It was, however, delicious. read more

Came out for Mothers Day brunch. Reservations were completed online in advance and super easy compared to most places in the area. Place is upscale, conveniently located with beautiful views of Mt Rainier and frequent passing of trains too! Staff were all super responsive and helpful during the entire visit. The outside seating was comfortable and they had plenty of heating lamps as it was on the chilly side that afternoon. We all enjoyed our breakfasts; they were nice to cater to allergies or food substitutions. We chose the french toast, eggs in purgatory, & the eggs benedict. Ventured here again for an Anniversary dinner. Sorry to say it's gone down in two years. I can't vouch.for the filet mignon - but others there say it was very good. I only eat fish and chicken -- ordered the appetizer and scallops were under. Ordered the seafood linguine. Again .... The scallops were under shrimp was over and drowned in a bland sauce. My family and I came here during happy hour on 11/16/19 for the first time. The ambiance is romantic, clean and comfortable. It does get busy during happy hour. We ordered the Caprese Bruschetta appetizer comes with tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. We also got the Rosemary Steak and blue cheese skewers. We also got the Lasagna as well as the Chicken Linguine with garlic and cream cheese. Lastly for dessert, we had the tiramisu (forgot to take a picture). All of the food were flavorful and delicious! My boyfriend took me to Toscano Italian Grill in Puyallup for Valentine's Day dinner, and it was fabulous! We enjoyed the Valentine's special for two -- salmon dip, beet salad, crab-stuffed salmon, steak, and delicious desserts including a mini cannoli, Dubai chocolate strawberries, and a heart-shaped lemon bar. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly. We sat in the enclosed heated patio, which was cozy, while the inside is small and charming. There is a 4% service charge noted on the menu. I want to start by saying this is usually my go to place for a good meal however, this last time has-really stuck with me and I'm finally saying something extremely disappointed it was like everything was subpar the beet and blue salad the baked meatballs,spaghetti was decent the seafood linguine the chicken piccata all seemed like it was left overs from the day before then there were the cocktails, which were mock tail cocktails actually one sip was all we got out of the glass with this huge ice cube in the glass wasn't much room for the juice and spritz. Nice enough ambiance, the waitress was a bit cold didn't provide the daily specials tell us about the restaurant or offer much of anything, my wife got the small onion soup and it was very tasty, she also had the beet and blue salad also very nice, I ordered the Gamberi pasta somewhat flavorless the tomatoes weren't quite ripe and it was a small plate when we got the bill 81.00 we each had one drink and then noticed a 4% tip to help pay for employee benefits hmmm and if you want bread it's an extra 7.00 we did notice the bartender waited some tables and he was the consummate professional Doubt we will be back :( read more

We came here to burn some time in between appointments. There was no one in the restaurant when we ordered and they took long to bring out our food. By the time the food was ready we had to leave so we had to get the food boxed up even before taking one bite. The prices are on the steep side. 1. Location. Did not give me the ambience I was expecting of an Italian Rest. whose menu prices deserve a better setting. 2. Menu: many overpriced items. Came for brunch & was disappointed with the menu. Too many "dinner items". Also $35 for a brunch item on the menu is ridiculous. Food was ok, but again nothing spectacular. Personally, the menu prices don't bother me, it was the overall $$$ collection they had for brunch. Like I said most were dinner items, and most people are looking for breakfast items for brunch. Maybe even adding a few side items on the brunch menu would have been nice. 3. $16 Overpriced Bloody Mary that was in a small glass & nothing to write home about. 4. Service was pleasant. This is the only thing that is keeping this restaurant running. 5. Solicitation & questionable charge on receipt. This is where the low score came in. I, as a customer do not appreciate being solicited for money while paying my bill. I find it inappropriate for any business to do that on someone's transaction. You can solicit in front of your restaurant or in your restaurant but do not leave a line on a bill when I'm calculating my tab. Not to mention the line can be confusing for some who are not used to that tactic. They can mistakenly add an additional charge they were not intending to include. Also another turn off is when owners do not pay their staff accordingly & expect customers to compensate for their stinginess with their employees earnings or benefits. A mandatory 4% service charge was added to my bill to help pay for the kitchen staff & their medical. Excuse me? Why shouldn't the employer be required to do this? Why are you forcing the customers to pay what you choose not to provide your staff with? Greedy owners. With the overpriced items on the menu, I'm sure they can supplement their kitchen staff with their needs. I always tip 20% & do not have a problem doing so when I receive good service. But I do not appreciate when businesses take advantage of customers & make it mandatory to pay the wages/healthcare of their staff. I would love to hear a reply from the owner as to why they are not helping to supplement the kitchen staff with their wage/healthcare costs. Husband mentioned he had always been curious to try this place despite my own experience, and I thought, hey maybe my first experience was a singularly bad one, why not give it another chance for my birthday? (SPOILER ALERT: not my brightest idea) He got reservations at 7:40 PM and we were promptly sat. The table behind us had been sitting there for a bit already. We sat with the menus for quite some time, at least 15 mins, while the waiters went by, no hello, no water, no nothing. Eventually our waitress came over and we ordered a drink. She sped off. I knew we should've ordered everything in one go but...we didn't. Drinks came out with the water about 5 mins later. My bourbon peach drink was tasty. After about 15-20 minutes of servers passing us by, our waitress came back and we ordered the calamari. Again, should've ordered in one go, but...you guessed it, we didnt. Calamari took a good 20 mins or more to come out. The sauce was tasty but it's more suited for shellfish. Who knows how long it took but eventually we grew tired of being ignored and we stopped our waitress as she zipped by, intently focused on ignoring us, and asked if we could order entrees. I started timing things at that point. Keep in mind, the table behind us still hasn't been served their food either. This place closes at 9. By 8:35, they're picking up silverware, wiping tables, putting outside furniture away and still no food. Our food arrived at precisely 8:53 PM. My husband's child portion of pasta sat on top of the sauce, which is awkward, and was cold, but it did taste good. He added meatballs and that was the only warm thing on his plate. Conversely, my pasta was hot and tasty. A few minutes after we were served, the table behind us got their food. I ate some of my dish and then got it to go. All other to go boxes came with a sticker on top to avoid the top from opening, but not mine. From the moment we were first served water, we were never offered anymore. In fact, a server came by with a pitcher, stopped at our table, turned around and served the table behind us. My husband and I were floored. That's to say, from 7:40 PM, until 8:55 PM, we were not served water UNTIL we stopped some random server and asked. He was *very shocked* and said yes quickly, but must have forgotten that he kept walking by our table without offering any. Is it because we were the only Hispanic couple in the restaurant? We will never know why we didn't deserve water. Or why our food took so long just to come out cold. Or why I saw a server serve someone a little birthday treat with a candle while I got nothing, after mentioning it to our waitress. We will never know because we won't be back. read more

Second time coming here for my birthday and I was very disappointed this time around. Food was not good, lacked flavor. I got the chicken parmigiana, noodles were hard and chicken was dry with no flavor. Service took over an hour and they had few people. It was 1 PM. Not the best service. This was our first visit to Toscano's as we typically go to Stortini's. We sat outdoors and it was a pleasant, shaded patio with a great view of Mount Rainier. I had chicken piccata and a bowl of the Tuscan onion soup (their version of French onion) whereas my wife had the ribeye and a Caesar salad. The onion soup was mostly croutons saturated with beef stock, topped with provolone and very little broth. The lack of broth is my main complaint. That and their bowl of soup was cup of soup sized. I had to ask the server if it was a cup or a bowl of soup. I would rate the soup a 5 out of 10. I have had chicken piccata in many restaurants and their version was sub-par. The noodles were not traditional linguine or other straight pasta. Rather, they chose a shorter, curly noodle which struggled to absorb the richness of the capers sauce. Honestly, I struggled to find the rich flavor of the capers sauce too. The chicken breast was also non-traditional as a breaded and thicker piece of chicken. I would also rate the chicken piccata a 5 out of 10. My wife said her ribeye was mostly fat and rated it a 2 out of 10. She struggled to find the flavor of the Caesar dressing and gives her salad a 1 out of 10. I tried her salad and tend to agree, although I would not judge it as harshly as my wife and would give it a 4. The server was sweet but not too attentive, especially for a seemingly higher end establishment. We had to ask for refills of our waters and iced tea. We will not be returning to Toscano's. read more

We had dinner at Toscano's the other night with a couple friends and it was quite disappointing. Firstly, my husband thinks he got food poisoning from the smoked salmon chowder. He had a terrible night (and next day) after dinner and the only dish he ate that no one else tried was the chowder. It even looks questionable in the photo. Anyway, to add to that, the service wasn't good either. I had ordered some Brussel sprouts with my risotto and never got my order. I was halfway done with my meal so when the waitress finally came by I told her to just cancel it. This place was definitely not built to be a restaurant and you can tell just from walking in. It's located inside a shared commercial building with other businesses and it definitely looks and feels like it. Let me start with the setting. It was a beautiful day, seated outside with a gorgeous view of Mt Rainier. We made reservations so we were seated quickly. The service was great. Didn't have to ask for refills. All recommended dishes from server were on point, delicious. Favorites were seasonal gnocchi with lobster and an apple bread pudding. I need to come back before it's gone. The gnocchi tasted so fresh with a ricotta filling. I think it's the best gnocchi Ive ever had . We came back to Toscanos for Valentine's Day. We were sat in the back room at a table next to the window. We were freezing the entire time we were there. It was very drafty and just super cold. It took quite a while for bread to come to our table and when it did it was the butt end of the bread with two smaller slices. The prosciutto wrapped mozzarella was delicious as an appetizer. My husband got the filet mignon with a side of balsamic mushrooms and I got the truffle mushroom lasagna. With the previous experience being so great, we were so sad to be disappointed with our food this time. Both dishes lacked any flavor. The steak was cooked perfectly to temp, but it barely even had salt or pepper on it. My lasagna was mediocre and it was burned so bad that a large portion of the pasta sheet was hard and crunchy. Our server was nice and she asked us how the food was and we told her that the steak was disappointing. Later on she offered dessert on the house but we declined. We were also disappointed to see that no manager came to speak with us and that not one drink was taken off our tab. Definitely not worth the $210 we paid for our dinner and it makes me sad to write that. read more

My wife and I came to this restaurant for our anniversary on 12/27 @600 pm. The environment was very nice and pleasant. My wife had the king salmon it was just ok, I ordered the ribeye, the steak was almost all fat and a small steak on top of that. We have never been to what we call fine dining restaurants that do not offer a salad or bread with dinner. The pricing is extremely high for what is provided. All of the staff were very pleasant. I like Southern Italian food, and Toscanos sounds like to serves food from the Tuscany area. Since it's a grill, the steak should be considered, but I was craving pasta. Yes, that's a Thinsulin red light, but I don't want steak today. I started off on the onion soup. I regret getting a cup. I should have gotten the bowl because it was the best onion soup I have ever eaten! Delicious. Then, I got their signature steamed clams martini. There's no alcohol that I know of, but I was served in a large martini glass. Wow, the clams were delicious! So fresh and I love the way it was steamed! This was definitely a green light dish. I asked for linguini and clams, but that was not on the menu. I could ask the chefs to make it, but if it's not on the menu, there's probably a good reason. Instead, I got my pasta fix by ordering the spaghetti bolognese. It was only $16. How good can it be? Super delicious! The meat was so fresh and chunky! The best I have eaten again. After having several friends recommend this place we decided to stop in for a nice dinner. I recommend reservations as we did not have them and thus we sat at the bar. This was not an issue for us, just something to mention. While the building is large, the restaurant was rather small. Maybe 18ish tables or so from what I saw. The host greeted us and offered bar top seating which was no problem. Our bartender was kind and fairly attentive, he gave us time to look over menus and answered questions as needed. Unfortunately, I truly did not like the vibe at all. It felt very stuffy and I'm not talking about the room temperature. To top it all off, the food was simply ok. For the price point I expected far better, but at least now I can say I checked it out and won't be returning. The only thing I can say I enjoyed was the dessert, they had a seasonal pistachio cheesecake that was quite good. read more

This is a date night place for us. Great food and professional service. A real step up from just going out to dinner.

My husband and I go on long runs in this area and every time we would run by we would smell the amazing foo. Tonight for date night we came here. The inside of the restaurant is small but they have outdoor seating which worked out great for us. Staff were friendly and had made us feel welcomed. Food was awesome! Portions are perfect.
