Great food and drinks with super friendly staff. The interior is super cosy feeling with great ambiance. We had the pork soup dumplings, steak sandwich, and spaghettini with Italian sausage which were all super tasty. We also had a chai latte and a thai tea. The Thai tea wasn't as quite sweet as what I've had else where but it was still absolutely delicious! The friendly staff and the soup dumplings are definitely the highlights of this place. Definitely visit if you are in Windham :)

Nice modern coffee shop with a spacious interior and quality coffee and breakfast/lunch food options. I got the Steak Sandwich, which had ribeye steak, mushrooms, cheese, and chimichurri sauce on ciabatta bread with a side salad. The sandwich was really tasty, as the steak was very tender and cut into comfortably sized pieces. The cheese was nice and melted inside and the mushrooms were good as well. The ciabatta bread was a good level of softness and crispiness on the outside. $24.50 for this sandwich which includes ribeye steak is reasonable. The place itself is nice with wooden tables and chairs. The tall ceilings give the space a very open feel, and there is a decent amount of seating inside. You order up at the counter and they can bring you your food or call out your name when your drink/food is ready. The staff are moderately friendly and the service speed is pretty good. The place is located in the main area of town, so you will likely have to find street parking. Overall, I would highly recommend The Windham Local if you are looking for a casual yet nice breakfast/lunch spot or a morning coffee.

Couldn't eat the pad thai without risking a stroke from all the salt they put in the meal.

How this place received a 4.4 is beyond me. If I could give this place a negative 1 star I would. I seldom write a negative review but with my recent experience at this facility I will make an exception. Upon entering the establishment I wasn't sure if they were open since I was the only patron at the restaurant and I clearly see why. The waitress who served me looked like she was having a bad day and clearly showed it through the grimace on her face. She reluctantly took our order of pork soup dumplings, my wife had a shrimp pad thai and I had a stir fry veggies with steak. The soup dumplings clearly tasted as if it was bought from trader joes and heated up in a microwave, my steak stir fry was tasteless and my wife shrimp pad thai was extremely salty, it felt like they dump a bottle of table salt on the meal. The meal was vile and odious, when my wife complained about her meal being salty the waitress simply said, "deal with it, thats the way our chef makes it." Along with a slew of nasty comments she made. When I went to complain to the manager, she simply didn't care and was just as dismissive. For a meal that cost just as high as a 5star restaurant in nyc, you would at least expect good service. I can't see this business lasting through the winter. I advice you to please stay away at all cost. Eating a discarded McDonald's meal from a dumpster is more appetizing than the crap they serve here.

The Catskills Cuban and Chicken Portobello wrap

4.5 stars. Really nice, spacious coffee shop/café. Super fresh ingredients and a substantial food and drink menu. They even had beer/wine/brunch cocktails. The coffee was solid- they use beans from Oslo Coffee Roasters. We stayed in the area for two nights and ended up eating here for lunch as soon as we got in and then breakfast before heading home. I had the Catskill Cuban and my fiancé had the chicken portobello wrap. Food took some time to come out but was clearly freshly made to order. I don't normally go for Cuban sandwiches but tried this version because they use roasted chicken and ham instead of the traditional roasted pork and ham. The sandwich was lighter with the chicken but still had some of the salty, tangy flavors of a traditional Cuban which was perfect for me. Breakfast a couple days later did not disappoint either. I had the quiche with tomato, feta, and asparagus as well as a scone. My fiancé had the breakfast burrito which he said was filling but a little bland. This place is a no brainer whether you live in the area or are visiting. Prices were comparable to NYC coffee shop/café prices.

Overcooked spaghetti and watery marinara -- don't bother ordering this, it's terrible. (Ate pasta with chopsticks as a goof.)

My family felt a bagel would make a great mid-morning breakfast/early lunch option, so we gave Hudson Bagels a try. Each of us was quite pleased with our experience! The fella that greeted us upon entering was nice and helpful in guiding our selections. The bagels were fresh and as good as any NYC bagel I have ever eaten. My family and I couldn't have been happier with our visit. The only downside was the limited amount of indoor seating available, but that's not a complaint--rather, just something to know if you're planning of stopping in for a bagel. If the weather is cold, the outdoor seating isn't likely an option. I highly recommend Hudson Bagels! If I ever make it back to Hudson, I'll visit this shop again! :-)

We left the job site Un thrilled as we headed for the chain coffee shop for a hotdog. As I passed Hudson Bagels, I said to my partner "do you want a bagel sandwich instead". He said why not....and I am glad we did. It's a cute little place that is welcoming and very clean. The guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful. He immediately suggested their smash burger. He talked me into a double (they are small) loaded. I have to say it was perhaps the best burger I've ever paid for. In fact I think it rivals my grilled burgers. This is a place I would drive an hour to have a burger lunch with a friend. OUTSTANDING burger. I never got a chance to try their bagels. Not sure when I go back if I would at all be interested in a bagel knowing they have that burger on the menu. Highly recommend this place.

What else is on the menu besides Bagels?…read more I saw a lot of Jewish neighborhood items like bialys, smoked salmon, egg creams. whitefish salad, baked salmon salad, corned beef, matzoh ball soup, pastrami, chopped chicken liver, rugelach, and brisket among the seemingly hundreds of other choices. Simply put, Great Barrington Bagel is one fantastic place of fantastic choices. Let's start with their bagels, I mean after all, that's the namesake of the place. They make them the traditional NYC way - boiled and then baked in a 500-degree oven for a dense crust and chewy interior. How many kinds of bagels do they make? How about 21, plus spinoff types like bialys and flagels (flat crusty bagels). Oh, and do you want cream cheese on top of that particular bagel you had to agonizingly choose among? Well, be prepared for another tough choice, because GBBC has 17 flavors of cream cheeses. I ordered a cup of Chicken Noodle Soup with Matzoh Ball ($4.75) and a BLT on a jalapeno bagel ($8.50). Their indoor tables are still not available, but there were maybe six big picnic tables with benches outside. Everything was occupied when we walked outside with our food, including one table where an unsmiling matronly type nursing a cup of Dunkin Donuts informed us in no uncertain terms that she was holding that table for her friends' arrival, and she'd rather not share her precious table with us. Anyway, we eventually found a table and enjoyed our lunch. My soup was great! Lots of big carrot chunks, delicious tender chicken chunks, and a very good matzoh ball, served with bagel chips. The BLT had quite a bit of perfectly cooked Hickory Smoked Bacon. I had my Jalapeno bagel toasted. It was served with a sour pickle spear and was a real good combination of tastes and textures. My only quibble was the Jalapeno Bagel itself, it just wasn't very "jalapeno-y" to me. But that was just a teeny tiny blip on the day's radar. Well, that and the guardian of the bench, who was still sitting there by herself as we cleaned up our trash and left. As I was leaving, I looked her in the eyes and said, "Hope you enjoy your lunch". Sensing none of my sarcasm, she smiled and said thanks.

But if I lived in Saratoga Springs, UG seems like a worthy successor. I can't comment on their vast bagel stash - poutine and fried chicken is enough for the day - or their beverages beyond the enjoyable caramel vanilla coffee. But I can praise the infrastructure. The line looked intimidating but they kept it moving. Since my biggest gripe for non-Starbucks purveyors is the lack of a condiment bar I was impressed by the options here like simple syrup and almond and oat milk.

Where things are frustrating is (1) the pricing for gluten free options (2) lack of gluten free options. Patrons have to get creative to accommodate a low-glycemic index diet or a gluten free diet. Almost every single soup has gluten now a days. There was a time when soups were the only gluten free option. They've raised the price of a side of grilled chicken to $8.00, which is insane for 3 oz of chicken. That equates to roughly $32 a lb for chicken. The menu says $3.15 to "add chicken" to a salad, so I'm not entirely sure what the big deal of adding it to a bowl of soup is any different? I'm paying $6.99 for a soup and a salad is $7.25. I'm happy to pick out the pasta in the soups, but to not add chicken for $3.15 as if it were a salad is a line that is frustrating. Not a fan of the salads due to the diningware they elect to put them in. The bowls are wabbly and are often filled to the gill, so people like myself who cut their salad have difficulty enjoying their salad as it falls on the table more than staying in the bowl. Giving an honest review in hopes that ownership will take this into consideration. Finding myself coming here less as it gives me anxiety coming and trying to think of what I can actually eat.
