Great food and drinks with super friendly staff. The interior is super cosy feeling with great ambiance. We had the pork soup dumplings, steak sandwich, and spaghettini with Italian sausage which were all super tasty. We also had a chai latte and a thai tea. The Thai tea wasn't as quite sweet as what I've had else where but it was still absolutely delicious! The friendly staff and the soup dumplings are definitely the highlights of this place. Definitely visit if you are in Windham :)

Nice modern coffee shop with a spacious interior and quality coffee and breakfast/lunch food options. I got the Steak Sandwich, which had ribeye steak, mushrooms, cheese, and chimichurri sauce on ciabatta bread with a side salad. The sandwich was really tasty, as the steak was very tender and cut into comfortably sized pieces. The cheese was nice and melted inside and the mushrooms were good as well. The ciabatta bread was a good level of softness and crispiness on the outside. $24.50 for this sandwich which includes ribeye steak is reasonable. The place itself is nice with wooden tables and chairs. The tall ceilings give the space a very open feel, and there is a decent amount of seating inside. You order up at the counter and they can bring you your food or call out your name when your drink/food is ready. The staff are moderately friendly and the service speed is pretty good. The place is located in the main area of town, so you will likely have to find street parking. Overall, I would highly recommend The Windham Local if you are looking for a casual yet nice breakfast/lunch spot or a morning coffee.

Couldn't eat the pad thai without risking a stroke from all the salt they put in the meal.

How this place received a 4.4 is beyond me. If I could give this place a negative 1 star I would. I seldom write a negative review but with my recent experience at this facility I will make an exception. Upon entering the establishment I wasn't sure if they were open since I was the only patron at the restaurant and I clearly see why. The waitress who served me looked like she was having a bad day and clearly showed it through the grimace on her face. She reluctantly took our order of pork soup dumplings, my wife had a shrimp pad thai and I had a stir fry veggies with steak. The soup dumplings clearly tasted as if it was bought from trader joes and heated up in a microwave, my steak stir fry was tasteless and my wife shrimp pad thai was extremely salty, it felt like they dump a bottle of table salt on the meal. The meal was vile and odious, when my wife complained about her meal being salty the waitress simply said, "deal with it, thats the way our chef makes it." Along with a slew of nasty comments she made. When I went to complain to the manager, she simply didn't care and was just as dismissive. For a meal that cost just as high as a 5star restaurant in nyc, you would at least expect good service. I can't see this business lasting through the winter. I advice you to please stay away at all cost. Eating a discarded McDonald's meal from a dumpster is more appetizing than the crap they serve here.

The Catskills Cuban and Chicken Portobello wrap

4.5 stars. Really nice, spacious coffee shop/café. Super fresh ingredients and a substantial food and drink menu. They even had beer/wine/brunch cocktails. The coffee was solid- they use beans from Oslo Coffee Roasters. We stayed in the area for two nights and ended up eating here for lunch as soon as we got in and then breakfast before heading home. I had the Catskill Cuban and my fiancé had the chicken portobello wrap. Food took some time to come out but was clearly freshly made to order. I don't normally go for Cuban sandwiches but tried this version because they use roasted chicken and ham instead of the traditional roasted pork and ham. The sandwich was lighter with the chicken but still had some of the salty, tangy flavors of a traditional Cuban which was perfect for me. Breakfast a couple days later did not disappoint either. I had the quiche with tomato, feta, and asparagus as well as a scone. My fiancé had the breakfast burrito which he said was filling but a little bland. This place is a no brainer whether you live in the area or are visiting. Prices were comparable to NYC coffee shop/café prices.

Overcooked spaghetti and watery marinara -- don't bother ordering this, it's terrible. (Ate pasta with chopsticks as a goof.)

I was really excited to come here during my weekend trip upstate. The food looked so good on what I…read morehad seen on social media. However, my expectations were not met. I got the breakfast wrap and the avocado was not ripe at all. There was also a lack of flavor. The pancakes were raw as well. I will give this place the benefit of the doubt because I arrived 30 mins before closing, but I was still very disappointed.

They had sold out of the Country Girl, which was the fried chicken and biscuits, so I opted for the sausage and biscuits with eggs, and hubs tried the lemon ricotta pancake with homemade blueberry jam. The eggs in the savory dish featured the creamy bright orange yolk I love from locally farmed chicken. Biscuit was a nice size and the gravy was meaty and tasty. I could have used a couple more spoonfuls though. The large pancakes were perfectly fluffy, and the jam (though they could have been more generous with the topping) was a perfect match. Good, solid, stick to your ribs food. Service was friendly and quick. Only miss was the acidic stale coffee that was likely sitting around for a couple of hours). I'd say prices are on the higher side, but still, a better deal and quality than the brunch at Babbler nearby, for example. I did some digging after lunch and learned that The Wildair/Contra team from NYC opened this place. So I'm not surprised that this place made a good impression. Will certainly be back!

The exterior is misleading & easy to pass by if you're not in the know - don't let it fool you! Breakfast is only served on weekends between 8 AM & 1 PM & we just happened to be there. Service was extra warm & welcoming - we had our pup with us & it was a not so great weekend weather wise & while we offered to order & sit outside at a table as to not disrupt other diners, they managed to put us in their back room so no one had to eat out in the cold (Pepper can't write her own review, but she says thank you, two paws up!) While the menu is small, one item is better than the next & you can't go wrong no matter what you choose! Prices are reasonable for everything you get & in today's economy, it's a rare find! The apple pancakes were to die for & honestly, the biggest pancakes I've ever seen! Fresh biscuits with maple butter (YUM!) Don't pass up on the extra creamy & delicious chocolate milk! Seriously - can I get an IV drip of that? This place is the embodiment of farm to table (obviously). Zero frills, but full authenticity of a working farm. Wonderful place & wonderful people. They have lots of their goods for sale too, so you can take Buck Hill Farm home with you! We bought their delicious bourbon maple syrup, fresh herbal tea, hot sauce, & took some ribs back to the house to grill for Father's Day! Plenty of full & happy bellies even after leaving the farm. After breakfast, swing by the chicken coop & thank the ladies for the delicious eggs! LOL We hope to visit again next time we are in the area!

We started with the short ribs, and I could have eaten those all night! They had a large list of specials including the veal parm my husband ordered, he was very pleased with it. We had the octopus dish and wedge salad as our appetizers which were an absolute hit. The chorizo complimented the octopus perfectly and the bacon was perfectly tender and crispy on the wedge. For our mains, we had the chicken teriyaki and the wild boar bolognese. The chicken teriyaki could have used one more element like a chili oil/crisp but otherwise it was amazing. The wild boar bolognese needed a bit of salt but otherwise paired beautifully with the pasta. We ended with an espresso martini and the star of the night, the coconut bread pudding. When I tell you this may have been the best dessert I've ever had, I'm not kidding! Cute and cozy place and a great meal for a special occasion or a just because!
