I also appreciated the salad that came with it because I think starting the day off with some fiber is very healthy for the body. In the past, I've had the steak and eggs and it was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. But when I came to visit on this specific day, they were out and happily recommended the omelettes instead. It can get crowded, but I don't agree with the reviews here that say the restaurant gets too loud. Let's be honest. Fredericksburg has a certain type of demographic and at times I feel they are unfairly nitpicky to the local businesses. When the restaurant is crowded, it's lively and full of smiling faces and servers who are eager to serve and make sure that you enjoy your meal. I hate artificial flavors and cannot eat them, which makes getting fun drinks a challenge. When I come in, I like getting an iced lavender breve, or one of their special seasonal type of drinks on the menu. They did remove the original entrée from the bill, but then charged us for the filet at cost. Given the situation, it would have been more appropriate to simply substitute the filet at the original menu price. Unfortunately, my meal was also very underwhelming. The fish lacked flavor and was not enjoyable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially for a special anniversary dinner. I will say -- the hummus plate was delightful. The fried potatoes that came with the au gratin schnitzel were left largely untouched on my companion's plate. There wasn't much flavor to my red cabbage, and my spaetzel seemed to be more like a modern day risotto. And this at a restaurant that makes you leave your credit card for a reservation and threatens to charge if you cancel less than 24 hours before. For that, it had better knock my socks off. But my socks are still on, and they won't be walking back to Otto's. Extra star for the great location.
