The service is good, the store is dirty, dusty and the desk for in store pc use is outdated along with that chair which looks creepy and filthy. Having an air purifier at the door won't help the mud dried carpet throughout the store, it's filthy, nor the dust canvas printer, printer, glass upper and bottom, walls and sleeves. Why let anyone walk there dogs in without a vest as a support animal. Some are allergic to their pets. Why not put a standup kiosk for PC use, they can be bought for little money from business auctions? All it will take is over night cleaning or whenever your closed for holidays to be open for a seriously needed deep cleaning including light fixtures, glass, POS's, and some new carpet would be an investment into your business and will boost morale for both employees and consumers alike. read more

The staff here ate always patients and helpful. I am still bitter about not getting our post office back. When I brought it up in the neighborhood meetings before this area was built out, I was told "we'll have UPS and FedEx." That is not a US post office, I grumbled. Now that they have narrowed the openings to the blue mailboxes on the street, the only way to mail a package is to print the label at home and drop it off at UPS. Doron here from Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats in Columbia Heights. We have used this location for over 10 years for our shipping. In the past month all of the packages sent through this location have either been opened and had product removed, or say they are in transit but this is the only location on the tracking service. When I called to speak with someone to discuss they issue, they talked over me, got defensive, would not give me the managers name, and hung up on me. Which leads me to believe the person I spoke to is the one stealing from our packages, or knows what is happening. I'm sure we are not the only customers this is happening to. Because there are so many packages that have been destroyed, and UPS is such a big company, we have to retain an attorney. As a small business using UPS to ship our packages, UPS is destroying our women owned local small business. Beware of this location. read more

Over the past several years I have been in this store for various services. I have come here to return Amazon packages, copying documents, and printing a lot of documents. I have found that it is much more affordable to do self serve printing than to actually own a printer. The last time that I owned a printer was more than ten years ago, and I can remember always having to buy replacement ink cartridges which cost even more money than the printer itself! I think that copying and printing have become more limited for most people as well. During the summer though, I'm usually in one of these places once every week. The printing charge at this particular location is actually priced higher than other copying and shipping places, however they have been open whenever I needed them. Even during the pandemic I recall that they were open earlier than their competitors. The convenience factor and the fact that they have been open early when I do t have time to wait, is why I appreciate them. read more

The manager does not wear a face covering, putting customers and fellow employees at risk. However, the store requires customers wear face masks to enter the store. The owner mentioned he's got a medical condition. Then he shouldn't be assisting customers. One would think if he smokes cigars, a mask would not interfere with his breathing. read more

Beware of upsell, dishonest business practices!! The store's main objective is to upsell. If you think you will be able to send an envelope as UPS ground you will be disappointed. The staff member asked me what the content was and i said it was a check... next he said the only way we can insure a check would be $36. Of course if i dont't regularly send checks using UPS ground for $13 i would not have known any better not to mention, I never asked for it to be insured.. if you don't know any better this location will charge you 3x more than what it should cost. I walked out knowing another UPS store or Fedex will not be playing stupid games. when I sent a package with UPS and paid more than 200 dollars plus what I had spent to buy clothes for my family, more than 500 dollars was lost. Everything was lost because they never took the package to Mexico and they didn't give me back anything or the money, much less my package. In other words, I lost everything and besides, the package was lost on the way and they never took it to its destination, which was Mexico. They did so many investigations and every time I called they told me that the investigation is still ongoing and that's how things continued. And when I went to the UPS office they didn't give me any answers either, the only thing I heard was that an investigation was going to be opened and they never gave me a solution. I rarely give bad yelp ratings, even when warranted, but I must advise people against this place. I had a guitar wrapped up and just needed it boxed, they said ~$130 which I thought was for shipping and the packaging, and they required me to ship fragile despite the fact I already had it wrapped up. They said they had to do this because they were liable Later I looked at UPS policy and found out this was a lie. They are liable for $100. I am not blaming the employees here, they checked with the owner, and it was the owner who gave this price and told them what to say to mislead me. They charged ~$130 just for a box and to put some bubble wrap around a guitar. For shipping and packaging I thought the price was high, but just for packaging that is straight up highway robbery. The owner was supposed to contact me to resolve this but never did. For reference Fedex will charge $35 to do the exact same thing. Listen to the other reviews. This place will nickle and dime you. They charge you a lot of money just to use a small piece of tape. I cant even blame UPS, this is the owner being dishonest and greedy. I have been here multiple times and the employees always seem very stressed and unhappy too. I am not taking a shot against them, but the store management and ownership. I would recommend avoiding this store if possible, use another UPS store or shipping store. It will be MUCH cheaper, and service will be better. Have always had good experiences at this UPS store. Staff are knowledgeable, professional, and quick. The other day I saw a customer behave very rudely and it was still handled professionally. The customer expected to be able to hand the store representative a pair of shoes and have them be returned without providing the proper documentation. He got angry when told he had to provide the Amazon order and packaging. The store staff was firm but stayed patient and let it roll off his shoulder. Well done. read more

I dropped off two USPS packages here. The guy said they could take them and they'd make it to the truck the next day. He didn't give me a receipt or any proof that the packages had been taken in to their custody. Apparently they can scan and give a receipt. Note to self. Two weeks later, my packages had not returned to Amazon and there were no shipping updates on the USPS website. This usually takes just a few days. I started to panic and I called the store. The nice gentleman who answered the phone assured me they hand all packages over the next day. A few days later, Amazon received my packages. I guess someone in the chain didn't scan the packages. This store is amazingly efficient and organized when dealing with large volumes of customers. They have been extremely respectful through the language they use and their willingness to go the extra mile for their customers. For example, they will search for your package even if everything hasn't been sorted yet- something other stores would not care about or take the time to do. The people at the store lie to you to get you to choose more expensive shipping saying it takes 2-3 weeks to ship via ground across country. So paid double for 3 day shipping when web site says ground shipping would have 7 days in transit. Shame on me for believing these people. read more

Dear UPS store, Seriously? What is with charging fees for every little thing. You charge for the box, the peanuts, the strip of tape you used to close my box. You probably even charged for the 2 minutes it took for your staff member to help me out, after I had so rudely interrupted his phone call. The prices are ridiculous as well. Had I lived near the USPS, I would have paid 12 dollars-ish for the flat rate box. You can send something from Kaua'i to a remote village in Maine for the flat rate there. At the UPS Store - it is not the case. I had to pay an extra 20 dollars (no joke) because the address I was sending this wedding gift to was in a less populated part of Vermont. Second attempt to get a package shipped came on Saturday and there was no parking and the line was too long to risk waiting. Return today on Sunday and found street parking. I was in the line less than a minute and was helped by the cashier. I found out from their voicemail yesterday that you can park in the giant parking lot and they will validate I did not confirm that today with the cashier so it might be worth a phone call before you take the trip read more

Nice little UPS store in a convenient location for Columbia Heights folks. They have drop boxes outside as well as full service inside. There are P.O. Boxes, shipping supplies, greeting cards, and all the various packing bells and whistles inside. Staff has always been very friendly when I've needed to swing in. read more

These places need to have one thing, and it's good service that gets you what you need, quickly. I had an awful experience at FedEx Office one day where I spent probably two hours trying to get something done waiting for their computers, grappling with their online system, and trying to get help from the people working there. I got frustrated, went to the UPS Store, and they took care of me in all of 5 minutes. I always go there first now and the staff is super-helpful and friendly. They'll explain everything you need to do as long as you tell them what you need to happen, and then do it for you. read more

UPS delivery guys came to pick up boxes, and every time I asked questions they would say "I don't know. Above my pay grade. The information we get isn't helpful." Needless to say, the shipment didn't happen sgi the website still charged me. Additionally, the website tried to charge me $500 for a delivery order that I couldn't print out labels. This location has horrible service and the employees are thieves! I received an alert stating my package was available for pick up. When I get to the location, my package is not there and I am told that the driver said 3 packages that were to be delivered were missing and he would deliver them later or something of that nature. My issue is why is the driver checking in packages without delivery! If a package is checked in, it should be physically and readily available! SEEMS LIKE THEFT TO ME! Shipping services are notoriously annoying and slow. This UPS Store nestled in the heart of Columbia Heights is a pleasant exception! You can really feel that the staff care to do their best with meeting your needs. I've come here for scanning, photocopying, notary services, package drop-offs, and, of course, shipping (through UPS and USPS -- I love the ladies at the Georgia Ave USPS location but this place is just more efficient.). Sure, the store can get crowded but I've never had to wait too long. I've happily embraced this spot as my neighborhood go-to, in spite of the other options we have here. read more

UPS: "Hi, welcome to the UPS Store, how can I help you?" Me: "Hey, thanks, I'd like to return this box to Amazon. Can I borrow some tape please to seal it up?" "Of course sir, that'll be $17." "But it's a free return! Amazon picks up the postage." "Ah, yes sir, it is, but we charge a $3 customer interaction fee here. We're a franchise you see. That'll be $14 for the tape." "I don't want to buy a whole roll of tape, just use a little bit so the box doesn't come apart." "That isn't for a roll, those sell for $56. It's $7 per inch." "Well, can I have a UPS Large Envelope please? I'll just put it in that." "We don't have those, sorry. We're a franchise. I can sell you one of our luxury padded envelopes for $80 and I'll rub your shoulders while you put the item in the envelope. Also, I'll have to charge you a further customer interaction fee as it's a new transaction plus we have a 98% restocking fee for the tape you're returning." "Ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccckkkkkkkk..." (Blood boils) And so on. It's almost that ludicrous. I feel sorry for the people working here as they're really nice and you can see them wince when they have to pull this crap on us poor unsuspecting public. Do yourself a favor: If you're shipping UPS stuff, need proper UPS packaging, don't want to get a BS line about "UPS won't take it from us like that even though that's the exact same box UPS used to get it to you in the first place", just take your stuff to Staples a block south on 14th St. They have a shipping counter over by the print and copy machines, there's usually a tape gun sitting on the counter, and they'll give you supplies that don't cost more than what's inside your box. read more

My roommate and I called this store to inquire about sending two wingback chairs from Washington to California. The employee with whom we spoke told us that it would cost approximately 200-400 dollars plus the cost of packaging for both chairs. We called again several weeks later when we were ready to move the chairs and the same employee confirmed this estimate. When we went to the store after having rented a zipcar, the employee called UPS for rates and told us that the shipping ALONE would be $1200 dollars. The whole point of an estimate is that it is supposed to approximate the final price. The chairs we were sending were normal wingback chairs that whose size did not deviate from the dimensions that we provided when acquiring the estimate. What was even more frustrating was the employee's insolence at the mere suggestion that his poor estimate reflected poorly on his level of service. If you want competent, courteous service for sending a package or any large items, this is clearly not the place to go! read more

Wow, I cannot even believe a store where the primary purpose is to SEND PACKAGES would have such an insane policy as to charge for the bit of tape required to put the prepaid label on a box. I cannot emphasize enough how terrible the customer services is at this store. I can go to the US Post Office -- notorious for lousy service -- and they would have taped it for me with no questions asked. But unfortunately, zappos is a company that requires returns to come via UPS. I've already called to complain to UPS, and they said this is an issue with the individual store, but if I drive to the non-retail UPS location they can take care of it for me. Well guess what? That's in Landover, MD, just inside the beltway. Great, I always wanted to drive halfway to Annapolis to take advantage of my "free return shipping!" They exude decency. They remind me of my parents even though I'm not Indian. They will treat you with respect and the goods will get where they need to go. It seems to be a great team of people, and the manager worked with me to get all my items safely packed for the lowest possible cost. Thank goodness for good people! As I arrived at this UPS store just 30 minutes before closing time, I was relieved to see that there was just one customer, and she was being helped by the agent. But it didn't take long for me to gather that the agent was absolutely flummoxed by the task at hand as he squinted at the monitor, typed something, and stared again at the screen as though something incomprehensible was on it. This went on for a good 15 to 20 minutes, until behind me a fairly long line had formed. It would have been longer still had some people not bailed. Others poked their heads in, and declined to come in. In exasperation I asked if he thought the transaction would take the rest of the day. He said it could; that it was an international shipment--as though this were some kind of exotic affair. Finally, someone with more experience and more than a whiff of training emerged from the back and told the agent that what he was trying to do, could not be done because it required a physical stamp. I got the distinct impression that this was "international shipment 101". So they sent the customer off to the post office (which was now closed). Before she left she told the manager that she had been there for a whole HOUR! She was NOT happy. I have never had a bad experience with this UPS, but this one certainly severely depresses my average satisfaction level all because of one supremely inept employee. This place runs a scam. The only way to print is to pay money upfront and the pic is slow and fails to recognize the device. They then said they can't print through my USB and charged me 3 dollars just to tell me. Probably the best shipping store I've been to. I've gone there twice now with open boxes and shipment labels for returns. They taped the packages for me and attached the labels for free. Extremely friendly and helpful. read more
