In most cases my experiences at these stores have been relatively positive with my chief complaint having to do with their exorbitant prices. Even printing a single black and white page document will run you close to $2.00. I came here to this location this morning so that I could use one of their self-serve computers in order to print out an expensive one page document. There was no such luck here at this location because those computers don't exist. When I asked the sole employee who was working behind the counter the person was quite short with me and didn't bother to offer any other suggestions or help. Also the music was blaring, and the place definitely seemed like a very casual work environment and not that professional at all. [Coronavirus review] They only allow two customers inside at a time, but fortunately are still open and not overly crowded as the neighborhood is pretty dead during the shutdown. I was a tad dismayed to see how much it cost to repurpose my slightly oversized box for shoe shipping, but I paid for it. They claim to offer notary and passport photo services; useful stuff. Biked as fast as I could in 99 degree weather to drop off a box that already had a sticker and was paid for. Got there at 4:58 PM... the same time as a UPS driver who was walking through the door. I asked him if I could just drop off the box since he had the door open and was already walking in. He asked me if it had the sticker on it already and I said yes. Right as I was about to walk in, a man from behind the counter aggressively shouted "WE'RE CLOSED. STOP HER", prompting the UPS driver to give me a guilty look and close the door. Really incredible how I'm standing there panting at the door and the employee inside didn't even have the customer service skills to walk over and say something. I also arrived BEFORE they closed. It's really not that hard to be polite, especially when you've been working inside a room with air conditioning. Won't be going back to this store again. read more

Her colleague seemed to have some idea as to how to print the photo and when I asked for her help (after 15 minutes of working with the first employee) she said, "no. I'm not a graphic designer" and told me to "go to CVS." Waste of time and rude staff. This UPS store is a mess. They are supposed to open at 8:30 but this week about 6 of us had to wait until 9:05 for someone to open the store. I had an appointment, which I made online, to get something notarized at 9am. When I made it to the counter around 9:15 I was informed that the notary comes in at 4pm and the online booking system is not connected to any real scheduling. Two other people were told they couldn't get their services completed because systems were down or their appointments weren't real. I paid over $100 in September at this UPS location to overnight an important document. It was delivered a week late. I called UPS to process a refund, but they said it's the responsibility of the local store. I've called the store multiple times and sent them 7 emails requesting a refund. They've confirmed that they got my emails and have opened a ticket for it, but it's been 3 months and they still haven't given me the hundred bucks back. Their own tracking system shows it wasn't delivered on time!! How stingy/lazy/incompetent can they be?? read more

My printer broke so I did the online print to store at UPS. I went to pick it up tonight and after being in the store 45 minutes, still only had 29 of the 109 pages. Not only was the order not even started when I got there, the clerk seemed confused on how to print, and kept telling me it was printing when nothing was. I stood by the copy machine for over 30 minutes waiting for it to print. When it was obvious this was going to take hours to print (for some unknown reason- it was just normal printing that could be done from any any printer), I asked her to cancel it since I couldn't wait any longer. She said she couldn't and went on to help other customers instead of either printing my job or helping me cancel it. So I left without my print job, and without my money. Making the situation worse, the clerk was reading my documents to be printed on the computer even though she was not printing them. I tried calling customer service, but remained on hold for 15 minutes before being disconnected. read more

I am not a fan of UPS (*which isn't fully connected to the UPS store other than they share a brand, which is probably a franchise store). *My guess. There have been too many issues with lack of communication & confusing information about when a package will arrive for me to rely on UPS. I am also not a fan of "UPS My Choice," a newer program that UPS created. It has only caused me stress and doesn't seem efficient. THANK GOODNESS for the UPS store. They have many convenient locations. This one is open until 7pm and even on Saturdays (9-5pm). The store can accept packages for me. That way if I have to run an errand, I don't have to worry about the UPS driver trying to deliver a package when I am not at home. The employees are nice and detail oriented. My only issues are that they seem understaffed. It isn't fair to the person behind the counter to answer the phone and take care of a line of customers. The services include: finger printing, all sorts of mail services and UPS delivery. That takes away the stress of wondering when a package will arrive. I can just have the package sent to the location - "fo" free. Parking is a challenge at this location. If you have someone go with you and wait around the corner, life is much easier. There are parking meters nearby but they are a rare find. This store is at 4th and Massachusetts Ave NW. The streets are slightly tricky and it is easy to end up on K Street when you think you are heading for Mass Ave. If you google UPS and Landover, you can find the 301 number for that delivery center. The 800 number is not really set up to resolve most issues. They will send a message to the Landover Center if you ask. read more

I visit this store one to three times per week. There is an employee who appears to be congenial with white customers and disrespectful and condescending to Black customers. I have interacted with this "woman" on two separate occasions. Once on Saturday, 10/10 and tonight 10/14. On Saturday, I picked up a package that was clearly damaged. I asked about the package and its appearance. She LOUDLY laughed and jeered with a UPS delivery driver where she said" It was probably you that delivered this package." between chuckles. She was unapologetic and LOUDLY said "I don't know what to tell you. You just gotta file a claim" and walked away. I returned to the store to retrieve a package on 10/12. I mentioned the incident to the store manager and he assured me that this was a one time incident that perhaps the issue may have been communications. On 10/14 I entered the store because the door was open. Prior to visiting the store, I made several telephone calls to the store 15 minutes prior to closing and no one answered. I entered the store. While waiting in the store for service, she returned from the back and said "You can't be in here. You gotta go." Appalled, I said the door was open. She said "Well we closed and you can't be in here. Bye" and made a street gesture where she used her hand and made a motion suggesting that someone was cutting her throat. Then walked me to the door without asking me why I was there. I am a business customer and spend thousands of dollars on shipping with UPS. I was there to pick up a package that was lost in transit that was not given to me on 10/12 when I visited the store and received my packages from the store manager. It is apparent that the woman is nice to white customers. I have witnessed her behavior change in an instant. When she reaches a Black customer, she is not congenial and begins to use street speech, bad manners and colloquialism that should be used in a different environment and not at work. She is intentional. My neighbors who are also Black said they experienced similar mistreatment. We are prepared to handle this matter formally. read more

I made an appointment online to get an important document notarized. I received an email confirmation and reminder. I showed up for my appointment on time but was told no notary was present. When I explained I had an appointment confirmation email, I was told the "system" wasn't "updated" and that "lots" of people "claim" to have appointments. I was informed that there are no appointments "due to covid." When I asked when a notary would be available, I was told to return later in the day at various times, and when I expressed confusion, I was told to call the store to confirm the notary was actually there. I went back home and called the store later as directed. Twice. I ended up being disconnected twice. Couldn't reach a human. But the recorded message said that a notary was available during "all store hours." Plainly untrue. So I went back to the store to see if the notary had arrived. She had not. I was told simply to keep calling. I explained I couldn't get through via phone because I tried that earlier. The employee denied that the phone had rung, which maybe it didn't since I was dropped twice. The store displayed posters saying notary service was available and indicating you could make an appointment, but I don't know how one accomplishes that! I received no apology, mainly just shrugs and a statement that it wasn't the employee's fault that the system wasn't updated. (The phone system mentioned Father's Day just a few weeks away, so it had clearly been updated somewhat recently). I feel I was misled and mistreated. I cannot recommend this business and suggest you look elsewhere for someone who cares about customer satisfaction and truth in advertising. read more

This UPS store is verging on non-functional as a public business. I tried to print labels for packages and encountered issues with the computer system. I was charged $19.95 to log in to print two pages and denied access. When I told an employee what happened, he said that it hadn't happened. I showed him the charge on my phone which only added to the confusing level of denial and hostility. I'm not sure who or why a person would make a false claim about a charge as he indicated I had. And since I couldn't log in to the computer, I couldn't complete the simple and generally routine transaction I had come in for. The employee - who was the manager, oddly - refused to help, denying that the factual issues were occuring. He called me demanding after essentially calling me a liar when I asked for basic assistance. The other employees ignored what was happening. It was a genuinely bizarre encounter. Reality being represented includes that I lost my cool and insulted the manager. I meant it more as a bewildered observation but it was very lame, and I failed as a consumer and a reasonable person at that moment. read more

The UPS store owner, Woody, personally constructed a shipping container out of three boxes, and went out of his way to make sure the item would get to its destination in one piece. I wasn't able to leave work to collect my item. At the end of a long day I walk into the store: Woman: Greeted, woman calls the guy from the morning shift, my item found. Your total is $48. Me: $48? I was told it was $24. Woman: I don't know what you heard do you want it or not? Printing is expensive. Me: I don't think this is right. Woman: Printing is expensive, that's the price. Me: (Processing) Woman starts helping the next customer. Customer service is lost on this store. I'm not asking you to kiss my ass. 1. I'm sorry you aren't happy in your job. There's a lot of unemployed people who'd love to work. 2. I'm sorry people in your company are incompetent. $24 does not equal $48. 3. Finally I'm sorry I ever walked into this store, won't be back. 4. I encourage people to go because she told me she deliberately puts the "closed" sign on so that people don't walk in and ask her to the store. The end, I still don't have a printed floor plan. Under my usual yelping rules I visit a place at least a few times before I write a review, but in this particular instance this was enough - I really don't need to see anymore. I just needed to grab a folder and print a document off my jump drive, both of which I accomplished in about 10 seconds. Then I waited for-e-ver in line while the only employee in the store handled this couple who had about 90 questions about shipping an 8x10 box. Seriously - I can't just hand off the $1.52 this costs rather than standing here for 10 minutes? When the guy caught my eye and winked - this was not a George Costanza, perhaps he had grapefruit juice in his eye twitch, but a full-out WINK - I thought I was going to lose my shit. Maybe they're good as a shipping service - can't claim to know - but for printing, not the place to go. [It is the UPS Store after all, so perhaps my expectations were most at fault.] But it made me actually miss the FedEx/Kinko's system of putting a debit straight into the computer. I have been using this UPS Store for 4 years and have always had excellent, prompt, and friendly service! The staff remembers customers, and they have very friendly and personal relationships with many customers. EMPHASIS ON PHENOMENAL HANDLING OF FRAGILE ITEMS Normally people wouldn't write a review for a packaging and shipping store unless they had a bad experience, but I have to hail PERRY for being a life-saver for me. I had bought these beautiful, fragile origami flower arrangements for my father and wanted to get them to Philadelphia. I was so anxious about their fragility, but Perry said, "No problem. I got it." Perry packaged these fragile flower arrangements SO WELL that when my father got them, not a petal was out of place. As a result, I was Favorite Child for Father's Day, heheheh. So THANK YOU! All of my other experiences have been excellent as well. Occasionally there is a wait, but naturally, lines occur during lunch hour and right after work. I think these people do the best they can with lines of tired, grumpy customers. read more

This store charged me three times the amount I should have paid on a shipment, which I did not care when it gets to it's destination. I specifically asked them for the cheapest way to ship a 2lb package and later found out that their suggestion was one of the most expensive ways to ship it - the cheapest way would have cost 1/3 the price, about $100 less, and would take a couple weeks longer, which did not matter. Also, they guaranteed a 2-day Air shipment and it didn't even arrive until late evening on the third day - again they charged an arm an a leg for a service they did not deliver on. Combine the above with some of their employees' rude behavior and it makes for a hell of a crappy place to do business with. Only go there if you know how to deal with their kind. read more

Exteremly dissatisfied customer. I paid $49 to this UPS store to overnight a document, a very high price for which I expected very high quality service. I did not get it; the document took 5 days to arrive, and when it did, it was crumpled and barely useable. To make the situation worse, without my knowledge UPS actually used USPS to mail my document. As anyone reading this post can imagine, when I attempted to attain a refund from either shipping service, a ridiculous finger pointing situation ensued. Neither UPS nor USPS has accepted responsibility, and neither has offered a refund, despite multiple phone calls, e-mails, and an in person store visit (to my local USPS store). At the end if the day, however, I paid for the service at this UPS store. The agreement they have with USPS is just that, their agreement, not mine. I entrusted UPS with my business, and they failed me. Furthermore, they then tried to defer responsibility on another party. That is completely unsatisfactory, and it is shocking that a company can act in such an irresponsible way in today's customer focused, competitive market. I am extremely dissapointed and UPS will never get my business again. They have lost a customer and probably many more over a mere $49 dollars. read more

This is bar none the worst place I've ever done business. I spent over $150 sending a package to Europe. It was never mailed and returned to me the next day at my home. I understand that mistakes happen, so I took it back to the store to resolve it. No one could figure out why the package was returned, or figure out how to mail it (which seems like the job of the ups store?). After going back and forth with them for over two hours, I finally took the package to FedEx where it was mailed without incident. That all was annoying, but, again, mistakes happen. The real problem with this store is that I've been trying to get refunded for over two months. The manager, Jermaine, consistently refuses to call me back and is never at the store (I've left five messages and gone to the store four times.) I've also reach out to the owner via email (the only contact information they would give me) and they have not replied. Great service! I'm sad to see other people giving such low reviews, because I had a great experience here with customer service! Last night, I mailed 2 checks via this UPS Store. Today, the person I mailed them to called me frantically wanting to know the tracking number (long story). I called the UPS store and talked to a nice young woman. She was so helpful! She figured out my tracking number even though I had lost my receipt, and she went to a lot of effort to make sure that I repeated it back to her, to show that I heard her correctly. On the few times that I come here instead of trekking to the post office by Union Station, the staff has always been friendly. The store is tucked away on Mass Ave near where Ledo Pizza used to be. It's a cozy size but each time I've been in, the store was organized and there was always someone ready to help. UPS prices typically are more expensive than USPS, which prevents me from using UPS for my shipping needs more often. read more

Read a few reviews with the same complaints about rudeness, probably from the same associate. While standing at the multi-use table preparing my package for shipping, I heard a customer ask an associate ("Angie") about his phone being safe during shipment, the associate's comment was very rude. I stepped to the counter dropping 3 packages (2 ground, 1 air), I asked if UPS picked up already, the associate ("Angie") said yes. I reminded her that the website says pick up is 7pm. "Angie" said the drivers were instructed to pick up at 630 today. I ask if she could recommend another location. She said L street but the same driver who pick-up there pick up at her location too. I ask if she could call....the next words out of her mouth was very condescending, loud and matter of factually. "Why would I call? You aint listen to what I just had said. He pick up both locations early today, c'mon man." I ask if there are any other locations that pick up after 630. Her response was "i dunno. i just told you drivers was told to pick up early today. dont ask me why cauz i dunno'. I went to the L street location to find that UPS air pick-up is 7pm. I went to 1099 14th street to find a 7pm ground pick up. I left my packages at both locations. Dear management: Is this "Angie" person related to the owners? There is no way I would ever have her work at my business. She needs to be east of the river where she belongs with that awful english, loud boyish mannerism and unprofessional attitude. The young man at the L street location was courteous and helpful. SHAME ON THIS LOCATION FOR ALLOWING "ANGIE" TO WORK THERE AFTER ALL THE BAD REVIEWS RELATING TO HER. I went into this UPS store several days ago to drop off a package going back to Amazon. Perry, the store manager, provided excellent customer service. Prior to coming in, Amazon had neglected to give me instructions on how my return should be packaged prior to the drop off, so I had wrapped it in brown paper. Perry told me that they were not able to ship it wrapped in the brown paper, and that I would need an envelope or box, since I was shipping back a shoe box. I got pretty frustrated (completely unfairly - it was not his fault) with him about all the requirements/cost, but he was calm and helpful the entire time. I was so impressed by how well he handled the situation. His demeanor and careful explanations of why the policies are in place made me less frustrated and help ease the tension of the situation. I just wish there were Perrys at every retailer. More employees should behave as he did when faced with unhappy customers. As a follow up on this...I called Amazon to give them some feedback (ie - suggestion to provide shipper's packaging requirements at time of creating the return label), and I told them what happened and they refunded me the $3.50 my box at the UPS store cost me! read more

Absolutely, positively, the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I waited over 30 minutes to drop off a package while the guy tried to get a copier running for another customer. Then once I was able to drop off, he charged me 2 dollars to tape my box, but couldn't count the change from the ten I gave him. He ended up giving me dimes due to a lack of dollar bills. Then, the second time I needed to use their internet to print a shipping label. The computer was down, but I had to wait 15 minutes to find out because the woman was chatting it up in the back with another employee. Then she told me that it (the internet) just went out sometimes and maybe I could check back later. I told her I had walked two miles and would appreciate her trying to fix it. She said she had no idea how to do it. I walked to fedex, printed, and then returned to drop the package off. What a waste of time. read more

In the past, I have been in the store when the UPS attendant refused to give the USPS pickup courier the packages. I don't know why. Do not use. Staff is rude & unhelpful. Apparently their notary only stays until 6, even though the store is open until 7. This information is NOT on their website. When I came in at 6:15, the staff member basically shrugged and said "oh, well." He didn't care that they are not providing useful and accurate information on their website. When I asked whether the notary stayed later at any other UPS stores, he simply said that they weren't associated with any other stores. By contrast, Court House apologized on the phone (theirs leaves at 6, too), but immediately suggested calling Clarendon (whose notary stays until 7 - success!). It would have gone a long way towards helping the situation if the staff member had been able to provide this information, rather than being completely unhelpful and unsympathetic. Useless. There are better choices for your shipping needs than this UPS branch. read more

I reached out to the Manager... no response. No recovery. On May 19, 2018, I planned my trip ahead of time and called the store. However, a new and poorly trained employee provided incorrect information over the phone. Consequently, I arrived unprepared, and had to return to my vehicle. Because, I had to return to my vehicle (in the rain) parked around the corner -- I ultimately, received a ticket for expired meter! What should have been a $26 transaction was ultimately $76. The agent should have honored the information I received over the phone. It is not unlike falsely (even inadvertently) advertising a pair of shoes -- on sale -- and then charging the original price. When I called the UPS corporate number, they were unhelpful and referred me to the local UPS store where I shipped the package. Fortunately, this local UPS store took care of the issue promptly by working directly with the UPS corporate office. Very helpful and responsive. read more
