To be honest, We ended up going to this restaurant after some of uptown restaurants were too crowded and had longer wait times plus parking hassles. But glad we came here as both parking and crowd was not too much . Place is small as name suggests so we couldn't take our baby stroller inside but just took him in car seat . Not loud so (thankfully) he just slept peaceful as we were eating. Anyways we ordered the food shown in pics and overall we really liked most of it. The Cajun fries that came with burger was really the best I felt so I give that a 5/5 - the breakfast burrito, grassfed burger and Chile burger were really good as well - I would give them 4/5 . The fresh orange and grapefruit juice were also good per my family though I didn't taste those alone . Being a foodie and experienced many different restaurants, I give this restaurant a very solid 4/5 or 4.25/5 . It was not out of the world food but really very good. read more

Great neighborhood place to come for breakfast or brunch (though they do dinner and drinks too)! We were seated quickly for brunch despite the busy brunch rush on a Saturday morning. We enjoyed their outdoor patio, which is covered with solar panels! Super neat. Service was a little slow...we waited at our table for our server for several minutes, and it took longer for our drinks to arrive. We enjoyed the Smoked Salmon Omelet (with cream cheese inside) with a side of traditional hash browns. If you're hungry, try the hearty breakfast burrito, stuffed with eggs and chorizo, and covered with a swirl of salsas, sour cream, and avocado. 0/10 would not recommend. It's a cute place and was exited to try it. I ordered a burger that had bacon and an over easy with fries. The burger had slimy brown stuff on it. I've never had a burger that tasted so gross. I asked for a side of ranch and it tasted so sour, it may have been expired or mixed with blue cheese. My husband had huevos rancheros and he said it was tasteless. Very disappointed and the silverware wee was very dirty! The lady's next to our table said this food is disgusting, I used the bathroom and and there wasn't any toilet paper, but don't worry cause they leave the extra toilet paper sitting on the bar... this diner is very pricy for something tasted so poorly. Finally made it to this cute place for a happy hour. Great time to go since we were able to be seated right away. There was a list of beer, wine and appetizers for $4! We had the meat & cheese plate, French fries, cheese curds and drinks. There are some obvious strong ties to Wisconsin here. Most of the sausage, meat, cheese and beer came from our neighbor. I am always happy to know where my food comes from , even if it's the badger state. I enjoyed the taste of cheese curds, but they were greasy. The lady next to us had the grilled cheese and leaned over to let us know it was the best she has ever had! Cute granny! Before leaving, we checked out the patio and teepee made out of sticks. Forget the covid mess. This was just bad service in general. My order was completely wrong, my friend's side of grits was forgotten, the appetizer was forgotten, my friend's toast and salad was forgotten... waters were never refilled, we had to ask 3 separate times. The bill was a mess as well. My friends and I agreed we won't be coming back here any time soon. We've eaten out at a handful of places lately so there's zero excuses for this amount of chaos. And now I'm hearing about the owner being under investigation for not paying her employees.... I'll gladly support other local joints! read more

I've been here twice - once for dinner and once for brunch. Great food and great atmosphere! They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Wait times aren't bad but if they are and it's nice out, take a walk around their garden! I think the one thing I really like about Tiny Diner is that their menus change per season. Pretty disappointing experience. Ordered the Breakfast of Champions with the eggs scrambled medium. The eggs had the weirdest consistency, almost like they were minced; and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how these could be the most tasteless eggs I've ever had? Were they cooked without butter? Did these organic eggs have smaller yolks? I have no idea how you can mess up scrambled eggs so badly. The hash browns were ok and the bacon was the best thing they offered. But the pancakes were tough and dense. The coffee here is also pretty good, but I guess they ran out of mugs because we were served coffee in tiny cups sized for espresso shots. Such a sweet spot for summertime brunch! In doing my yelp brunch search, I came across lots of places but this place caught my eye with its outdoor space covered with solar panels. They take reservations online (and through yelp) but just know reservations are only for indoor space, you add yourself to the outside waitlist upon arrival. They told me it would be about 20 min wait which was just fine with me since it was a gorgeous sunny day and there was a free tomato tasting event in front of the diner (bonus!). The menu is intriguing as there are a few continuous dishes but the rest will change with a different theme every now and then. It must change with some frequency because the online menu was different than the one presented to us in person. I went with one of the special dishes, "the grateful bowl" which was so good - had greens, roasted veggies, quinoa, avocado, nuts, kim chee, tofu, etc. It may have been a vegetarian dish but the portion was huge and I was super satisfied at the end. It can be actually very hot under the solar panels so I got a homemade ginger ale soda which was so cold and refreshing and in a huge tall glass (no tiny glasses here like so many other brunch places). My brunch partner got a lavender lemonade that tasted great. As you eat, you are surrounded by the beautiful bountiful garden where I believe they get a lot of their produce. After brunch, we walked around the garden area which was full of buzzing bees and happy birds. We admired the Swiss chard, burgeoning kale, and the beautiful flowers. We've eaten here quite a few times now, primary breakfast and lunch. Aside from the one time that my small children and I were seated right next to the door in the dead of winter, we've had great experiences. My fav is the breakfast burrito with all the sauces. It's all sloppy and tasty. I could eat it once a week or so. My kids like the pancakes and the kid burger which is huge. Service is good for the most part. When you go to a restaurant with young kids, speed is of the essence. There's a limited amount of time before children expire and become restless and unbearable. It's a bummer if you're waiting for too long for someone to take your order or bring a forgotten milk. But food comes quickly and staff is kind to the children even when they're restless and ungrateful. There's crayons and coloring sheets for the children as well and the kid's menu is decent. My kids are huge fans of the outdoor garden and giant twig hut. Check it out. It's not actually tiny, but it's pretty tasty. read more

Came here after reading great reviews on food....Not the case. Got both things they are known for "dill pickle chicken sandwich" and the "hueves rancheros". Both were SO bland. I think the breakfast food is better than the dinner food. Not that the dinner is bad; I just think the breakfast has more of an oomph to it. The appearance as a warming and good neighborhood to it. It's cozy and community-welcoming. The only downside to it is that it feels a little claustrophobic. I think that this restaurant works better with small groups instead of big groups. Otherwise, it feel a little jam packed because of the lack of space. My advice is to go there with one or two people, no more than that. You'll do fine. The food is fantastic, and it was everything that I requested from the waitress. The wait time can sometimes be a tad longer than expected, but that isn't always a bad thing. This is a delightful place a for a good breakfast or lunch. The waitresses are always friendly. I love being around them. I was here Friday with friends and had the Wisconsin burger and honestly it's the best burger I've EVER had!! We are going back again in half an hour to have it again Matthew was our server and he is AWESOME!! He helped us all with our choices as we were new to this gem. Prior to COVID, it was a bit diner-y (I get it obviously), which wasn't bad at all, but after re-opening you can so tell the kitchen has stepped up their game. It's like a whole new restaurant. This place is just funky and cool. Nothing all that tiny, plenty of room and comfortable. I got a small salad, very nice, not skimpy. A delicious iced tea. I ended up getting a mac and cheese cause I was still hungry. It is more of a cheese sauce than melted cheese which made it unlike many other. Pure comfort food, and with the peas and crumbs, you could throw in a can of tuna for a great casserole. I notice there is no tuna on the menu. I got a piece of carrot cake for dessert later on. This is a cute spot with a good menu and great service! Unfortunately I came on a rainy day so I wasn't able to enjoy the patio but my group of four got seated immediately so it was great that there was no wait! The inside is cozy and kind of in small sections so it wasn't ever too loud and crowded. I like that their menu is smaller and even though it was small, there were plenty of good options to choose from. They had a big list of beer and wines as well but I stuck with a water. I ordered the green chili burger that had poblano chile, oaxaca and green chili sauce with fries and it was very delicious. It was a unique twist on a burgerand it came with a good portion of fries as well. Our service here was great. Tiny Diner is one my go-to neighborhood spots for brunch and happy hour. They have an amazing patio, great service, and reliably good food. The four-star rating is unfortunately for their coffee. I went with some out of town family yesterday and we each ordered a different coffee drink and none were very good. The lavender latte didn't taste of lavender at all. The chai was mostly milk and very little chai mix and the cappuccino was just mediocre. I would normally overlook this, but the prices for these drinks are really high. That said, next time I'll just skip the coffee. :) read more

The atmosphere was perfect for a sunny spring day, with a very nice and spacious patio. And the drinks were amazing and refreshing! Our server was nice enough, but seemed to be new to serving. After we received our drinks, we placed our order, and then it quickly went downhill from there. We ended up waiting easily 45 minutes for our food, watching other tables who had arrived after us get their food, with one update from the server in that time. No explanation or apologies, just that it would be out "soon". And it wasn't a complicated order by any means. When the food finally did arrive, it kind of warm, but definitely not hot. The fried chicken sandwich was dry and with a borderline stale bun. The cheeseburger was also dry and the bun was way too big for a 1/3 pound patty. The fries were the best thing on the plate. Everything was very under-seasoned. We didn't bother sending the food back as we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes, and the server never checked in to ask how the food was tasting anyways, so we paid our tab and headed out. It was a pretty disappointing experience, and I don't think we'll be back. Just go for the tasty drinks and cute patio and skip the food. read more

My friend and are are in town for another friend's celebration, and we came to Tiny Diner for what I was hoping would be a super quick lunch. Host said it would be about 10 minutes for a table (event starts in 40 min). Eyeing the counter facing the kitchen, we were seated right away. Told our (fabulous) server we were on a time crunch. She was beyond great. The expediter (mgr? owner?) made sure we were in and out in a flash. The cream cheese scrambled eggs were outstanding. They made the whole 25 minutes a highlight of our weekend. You could know people by their parking habits in parking lots. There are people who pull straight into the parking spot; get out and go watch their movie or do their shopping; and when done, back out of the space and go home. This group makes up for 97% of drivers--the ordinary Joes and average Janes who postpone the relatively more difficult backing part until the end of their parking ritual as they want to avoid reversing the car into a tight space. The second group, many members of which are former armored cash transport car drivers, are those who put an extra effort into their parking ritual. These classy drivers eat their frogs at the outset: they first quickly back into the tight spot between two cars with one additional car behind them; and then when done with their shopping, stylishly pull out forward and go home. This group makes up for 2% of drivers. There is however a third group, a pathetic 1% of drivers, whose members browse the whole parking lot a few times to find a perfect free spot with no car parked in the immediate spot in front of the first one. They pull straight into the first spot, selfishly keep driving, and park in the second spot. The end result may mislead you to think that they genuinely parked back-first--like the stylish drivers of the second group. But they haven't. They never do. They put no effort into parking their cars. This practice may sound benign. But it isn't. In fact, the end result looks stylish to the detriment of their fellow drivers as the drivers of this third group crowd the parking lot to find their desired doubly free spots and more importantly they exasperate the ordinary Joes and average Janes who may think the spot they are going for is free only to find out that a pathetic driver, not content with his or her spot, is pulling their car all the way into the space they wanted to park in. It's then that you ask yourself "is looking classy really worth taking other people's time and frustrating them?" I feel sorry that I have to say it, because like many other reviewers I wanted to like Tiny Diner. But after my first try, it reminded me of the aforementioned third group. It's perhaps not a perfect analogy. But Tiny Diner is like a driver who wants to be unique without trying hard enough to earn the title. The outcome of their effort is fine. The food is not bad at all and the place is nice as is the staff. But then you ask yourself "was it worth the money I spent?" read more

But the waits are already intense, so I guess the secret is out: Tiny Diner is where it's at for breakfast. I've been anticipating the opening of Tiny Diner for what seems like an eternity. Having a diner style restaurant (that serves alcohol!) within blocks of my house is more than exciting. And guess what? My first visit was great, and I can't even imagine how much better it will be once that patio opens. It will be wonderful. My husband ordered the Turkey Roll, which he liked, though complained about the amount of mustard. After he scraped most of it off and added some of their (amazing) coleslaw to the sandwich (don't tell the chef), he was in heaven. Our super nice waitress suggested the Philly Fries.... The BEST. Homemade cheese wiz will blow your mind. And, because I will always be 10 years old, I had to try the grilled cheese. It's how I judge a place. If your grilled cheese is good, I will generally like your restaurant. But I had Tiny Diner's grown up grilled cheese with smoked Gouda...YUP. Delish. Great drink selection, too. Win win win win win. On a recent Friday evening, I and two dining companions came here on our bikes and enjoyed a delicious meal (except for bun around my turkey sandwich) and good service outside on the patio. The whole order of french fries we got to share were superb. The following Thursday, I and one of the same dining companions returned for dinner and had a lack luster experience with our meal and the service inside the restaurant. My companion ordered the same grilled cheese sandwich with french fries he ordered last time; I ordered deep-fried catfish with french fries. He was disappointed with his sandwich and the fries (mostly little short bits of potatoes). My catfish was alright, but those french fries were disappointing (mostly little short bits of potatoes and very greasy). Service all around was sub-par. read more

I was really excited to try this place. Set up brunch with friends for sunday morn. The food was fine - it wasn't as good as some of the other Kim Bartman restaurants imo. They were out of the biscuits and gravy which the hubs loves since someone forgot to make it? We sat outside under the solar panel surrounded by the garden which was AWESOME. The hubby and I have been out for appetizers and drinks and were pleasantly surprised by the attentiveness of the servers, and the bartenders have been great too. So service has been much better. And I had the most amazing jerk chicken wings ever. Which are not on the menu anymore. Curses! The farmers market is fun except the kiddos insist they need to go sit down and eat a burger.
