First timers on a pretty busy Friday night. Tables and bar area are very tight and there really isn't a good waiting area. Waited 20 minutes to be seated. Fine. Good things come to those who wait. Thoughts for the night: 1. Food is pretty good. Our table got a mix of entrees. Everyone enjoyed their meal for the most part. Reasonable prices and generous portions. 2. Don't know if this was a fluke, but all the French fries at our table were undercooked and soggy. It's a shame because I like steak cut fries. 3. Service was a little slow but understandable due to the crowd. Our waitress seemed annoyed the whole night. Bottom line: will go back for the food but hope they read this review and address some of these concerns. read more

Cute place. Easily accessible. Reasonably friendly staff - not overly friendly, if ya catch me. The ambience is quaint. Kind of loud and a little crowded walking through the bar. Seems to be a good place for drinkers - kind of an older crowd. Had the fish tacos. I've never had fish tacos before and for some reason, I decided that now is the time. They weren't bad. I think they were done right... though I've no basis for comparison. They didn't have much kick or real flavor, other than fish - which was ok. Average menu, below average preparation of basic dishes. This restaurant doesn't have anything innovative on their menu, just a selection of standard stuff. While that's not such a big problem, it is a problem when that everyday food isn't prepared well. I had a hot pastrami and Swiss cheese sandwich today, and while the meat was nice and lean, it was so dry and rather tasteless. I kept looking for our server to stop by so I could ask for some mayo or 1000 island dressing, but she didn't come back till the end of the meal. My friend's burger looked just so-so, and both our lunches were just kind of sloppy looking. Another friend had a roast beef sandwich, which looked good--but the restaurant wouldn't have had to cook the deli roast beef. This was my second visit to this restaurant, and the previous visit was just as underwhelming. If there were a restaurant that we liked just as close to the movie theater, we would not likely return to Tiger's Tale. read more

Service is good and it's cool to see foods cooked behind the bar but... not one bartender/ cooked washed their hands. Watched a bartender/ cook dog in his apron and touch a pad and whatever else was in his apron then slit a roll cut tomato and separate lettuce without washing his hands. Made for an easy decision not to order bar food. Are these bartenders serve safe certified? Do they know proper sanitation? Probably not based on the performance, all while the bar manager joked around throwing popcorn on the floor for the bar back to clean. I wished I had time to come back to this place more than once. There were too many good food choices to limit it to one meal. Service- Excellent. I sat at the bar area as a single. Had multiple people wait on me. It seemed to be that whomever was walking by would ask if I needed anything. Food- Excellent. There were many choices that looked good. I finally chose the lobster sliders with homemade chips. The chips may have been better than the sliders, but both were excellent. Chips came out hot from the fryer with Old Bay seasoning. Atmosphere- Good. Old, local, many people from the area on a Wednesday evening (hard to find a bar seat). Old-ish interior. I've never done a review before but I want to say for whoever reads this or the owner that I thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor dining experience in the front part of the parking lot. I've been coming here for a few years now and even with the make shift patio in the parking lot I would highly recommend that they continue to keep this space. Food is always great but it's a nice ambiance outside. Been 3 times so far this summer. Recently visited this place for lunch with 3 children and not only was the food stale and undesirable, most importantly, we also discovered a nasty flag, cowardly and inconspicuously hanging on the side of the building closest to the parking lot; equating and eluding to the fact that ALL are not welcomed at this establishment. Why not hang it in the front for potential customers to see so they can, fairly, decide whether or not they wish to spend money with TT?? It wasn't until I'd eaten, paid and was driving out of said parking lot that I saw the stupid flag ( had I seen it before , I NEVER would have spent my (close to $100)money)!! You can imagine how livid I was!! Members of our community, whether they look like us or not, are being failed by bad policing and policies as well as feeling like their lives do not matter - all the while fighting for change that needs to happen. Instead of standing in solidarity with them, this is the position TT takes?? This was extremely insensitive on their part of TT. This is not opinion- this is fact! Right is right and Wrong, whether you turn a blind eye to it or not, is WRONG!! Imagine having to explain that to 13 year old children- who initially spotted the eye sore!! I regret every penny that I spent with this establishment and I will never spend money with them again! Another local spot - I was here for a quick stop returning back to work after a meeting further south. I'm not really a pub food fan, but the quality was very good so I can't co plain too much. Every time I eat here is such a chill experience. The atmosphere is homey and friendly and each time I come I know just what I'm ordering- Fried Grouper Reuben with Angry Orchard draft-EVERY TIME. This sandwich is damn near magical considering I would never eat it's components separately. But together? Cole slaw, fried grouper, cheese on pumpernickel with a pickle-cmon now! We just went to the restaurant for my daughter's birthday. We were given a buzzer and told 15 minutes or so. We watched as regular after regular waltzed in and get seated as we stood and waited for our table of 5. After an hour I returned the buzzer and said thank you , I can't wait anymore. As I walked out I saw the two people who walked in 5 minutes prior sitting at a booth for 6. Not even 5 minutes after we checked to see if our table was ready yet. Tiger's Tale is the typical sports bar, with bar food and drinks. Its the place you'll find regulars, week after week. Even though that's not my MO, I do enjoy an evening at Tiger's Tale. Last night, I ordered a burger, which they do well, on the open fire grill at the bar. It was cooked exactly as I'd ordered it, medium rare with sliced cheddar, no bun. I passed on the side chips, and went for the fries instead. And they were good... not too mushy, and not overcooked. For me, this bar/restaurant is a great compromise while meeting with local friends, because it is centrally located. Not in the town of Princeton, and so parking is easy peasy. And the price? I got out of there for less than $15. Now that is a reasonable and fun night out!! read more

Growing up in Montgomery, just a couple miles from "The Tale", I've been here countless times. No major complaints, really nice staff that will remember you, good drinks, a ton of food options, lots of specials. Food is always good, not super amazing but I can always count on them for a satisfying meal. I love the popcorn at the bar, little things like that always make a difference when competing with chain restaurants. My wife and I have been eating at the Tiger's Tale for years, when it was the Foolish Fox and even Black Barts. We always had said that we've never had a bad meal there. However this evening we went for my birthday, because he had a coupon, which said FREE LUNCH OR DINNER up to $15.99 WITH THE PURCHASE OF TWO DRINKS AND ANOTHER ENTREE OF EQUAL OR LESSER VALUE. I purposely ordered a meal that I mightn't normally order, because I could get $15.99 off, and my wife ordered her meal at $8.99. But when our bill came, the LESSER meal was discounted, and the full price of my meal was part of the bill. Our server did not display an argument upon ordering when we mentioned the coupon and how we intended to apply it. After receiving our bill and realizing the discrepancy, we asked the manager about this. She bantered words back and forth, lots of semantics, trying to defend the wording of the coupon. If she had REAL authority of a manager, she would have altered our bill to reflect what it really should have been. But all she offered us were free desserts to take home, which we declined. By comparison, other restaurants we frequent, be they 'corporate' or nonaffiliated, offer similar coupons, and take off the meal of the person whose birthday it is. The coupon did not qualify WHICH meal would be discounted-- it only said "up to $15.99 WITH THE PURCHASE OF ANOTHER ENTREE of EQUAL OR LESSER VALUE:, not WHICHEVER MEAL IS CHEAPER, THAT"S THE ONE THAT WE WILL COMP. They need to re-word their coupon. It is bad english, and deceptive. Sad to say, we did not leave much of a tip. We were so upset about the situation that we could not reckon with anyone reaping benefit from our patronage. It was an enormous disappointment. read more

As a child my mom was a "career woman" which apparently means you do not cook for your family. We ate at ol' Tiger's Tale at least 2 or 3 times a week. In those days, I wasn't a vegetarian, and I loveeeeed their crab dip, buffalo wings, and salads with little baby shrimp on top. (I was also a fat child) I still love the salads, sans shrimp. Basically, the Tale is just a great townie bar where you can run in to everyone from your best friend's dad, your history teacher, former classmates from high school, single old men on the prowl, or your neighbor. The atmosphere is... almost gross, but the staff (all too old to be working at a townie bar) make up for it. This is a lively, fun restaurant with a bar on one side and the restaurant on the other. It has pub decor with exposed Brick walls. The food is average. Lots of pub type apps and entrees. I had shrimp risotto and they made the risotto with long grain white rice instead of arborio. I didn't eat that much if it. My husband had a grilled chicken sandwich and he liked it. It was pretty crowded there as it was the final game of World Cup soccer (Brazil vs. Germany). We were seated right away. The house wine is only $5 a glass so that was pleasant. 3.5 stars. I love the Tiger's Tale and have been coming here since the mid-90s. It's the perfect little bar/tavern with solid and simple bar food. No, there's nothing here that will really knock your socks off, but it's a fun place to get together with friends to eat and drink and kill a few hours off your day or night. I am still shocked after all these years that no matter what day of the week or time of the day you stop by, the parking lot is always packed. That's always a good sign. I wish they had an outdoor patio, but with the parking lot always packed, there's probably just no way for them to do it. I wish they would open one of these in East Brunswick. This is exactly what East Brunswick is missing -- and don't try and tell me how we have Gusto Grill. It's just not the same. Long live the ole Tiger's Tale! read more

Make sure you are prepared to wait if you come after 7, especially if you have a party over 4. There are few large tables but many small, 2-person tables, just because of the size of the room. So best case is to come with just one other person; the wait shouldnt ever be more than 15 minutes if you do that. Portions are LARGE. Lamb and steak are amazing Service is friendly. If the service is slow, its because the waiters have to wind through dozens of people standing and drinking at the bar. Please consider that before you complain. Its loud. Slow service and always check your receipt when I called in for a order to go I told them I didn't want utensils because I know they charge 45 cents for them , when I picked up my meal they asked again if I wanted utensils and I said no , when I got home I checked my receipt and I was charged 90 cents for utensils I never even received !! This is a nice restaurant and bar and they have a lot of variety of food on their menu so if you're picky like me you don't have to worry. Aside from the food, it is loud, crowded and cold inside so don't forget to bring a jacket! It doesn't take long to order and be served. There are more choices of meat then there is for seafood. Was just there over thanksgiving. I have worked for many years in restaurants and I rarely review places. Food was far below par, burger came out raw. I sent it back and they only seared it for thirty seconds, leaving it still raw. But, the biggest issue was the horrific, humorless waitress who obviously does not care about anyone but herself. The weak manager comped the burger, which was the bare minimum he could do. Overall a terrible experience. Recommend avoiding at all costs until this place adopts a fresh approach. read more

The Tiger's Tale is one step up from local chains. It's been around forever and is a very good place to get a beer and a burger. Stick with the grilled basics of burgers, steaks and pork chops and you'll do fine here. Retro iceberg dinner salads with crumbled egg and mini shrimp is a favorite. read more

Tigers Tale is our local spot here in Montgomery. We went tonight for 4th of July dinner. I am vegan so they helped me adjust and accommodated my ordered of portobello sandwich with pesto sauce and fries. It was delicious and a very large portion. She ordered a salad without steak which they were more than happy to do which was enormous and tasty. I went for a Cajun chicken sandwich and it was perfectly cooked with the perfect kick of spiciness. Bonus points for Boars Head deli mustard on the table and they allow $5 off the check if you text a special code. Great food at great prices, can't wait to return. read more

A typical tavern-bar kind of eatery. It's not too far from us and offers a lot of different food, and is definitely a very gluttonous option if me and SO decide to go. It's never a yearning, but more of an option when we don't want to think about where to go out to eat. The bar area is usually where we end up, at one of hte tables on the outer part of the room. There is also a dining room area too. If you're eating at the bar it gets little crowded. They also grill right at the bar certain foods, so most likely if they got that fired up, you'll end up smelling like your food. Their portions are pretty immense and quite filling, and I've never finished any sort of entree I've gotten there. Their desserts are quite good, the Tollhouse cookie pie is my favorite -it's basically a slightly soften cookie in the shape of a pie slice topped served warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate syrup. The prices are pretty reasonable. It can get crowded during peak hours like on Friday and Saturday nights. read more

Tiger's Tale what happened to you? Here's my Tiger's Tale: After a big move and have nothing to cook with (all in boxes) we decided to head back to TT for a nice dinner. The place was semi packed both in the bar area and sitting area as it was Monday night football. We were seated in the sitting area and waited almost 10 mins for Jamie to come ask for our drinks. Monday's special they have their $19.99 rack of lamb which I was told was the best deal of the house and I ordered it. DW chose the rib steak. The dinner comes with choice of soup (Manhattan or onion), or salad, and potatoes (baked, fries, mash). I ordered the mash and onion, my DW ordered the Manhattan and baked. We also ordered a dozen raw oysters to start which to my surprise was very fresh. Now as we were waiting for our food, they must've blasted the AC as it was freezing in there. Our waitress Jamie seems to be outta site from time to time and I know they have sections but she was nowhere that I can see in my section. My rack of lamb came out and it was on a pile of gummy over-mixed mash potatoes which didn't look very appetizing. The lamb had no flavor and was a bit charred (not juicy) but was cooked medium rare (per my request). The rib steak also had not flavor but her baked potato was good. Now the end part was funny as we couldn't find her for our bill and so my DW got up to look for her and she was at the bar side chatting up with fellow co-workers and watching the game!!! I was stupid enough to hand over my cc before the bill as I was freezing, tired, and just want to go home. When she ran the cc and gave me the bill, she charged me for a soup that was included (she didn't look) then when I told her she apologized and ran the cc again with the corrected amount and assured me that the first charge will be cancelled. Two days later, I checked my cc statement online and sure enough there were the two charges! I called up and spoke with a Mike (General Manager) who said that he's been there for 23 yrs said that it usually takes a couple of days for it to be cancelled if not he said he'll take it out of his pocket. Now I will try to believe him but I have a feeling that I'll have to make a trip back and pull his tail to get my money back! More to follow..... read more

Mmmm- the perfect place for average food. Granted that Tiger's Tale isn't a gourmet restaurant that uses high quality, fresh ingredients- the Tiger's Tale is a great place to grab a quick lunch with co-workers or friends! I've been here a few times and I would have to say that the Lobster Roll is my favorite! Fresh and light, the lobster roll is a great dish (for a good price). This wouldn't necessarily be my first choice restaurant, but I would say that the food is tasty, the prices are reasonable and that it's ALWAYS packed- I guess that says something right?? read more

Decent bar/restaurant. I'm bumping it down a star because of the service. I made reservations in advance and told the manager that I was coming with a large group just to watch a specific game, but they put us at a table close to a huge tv that didn't play the game we wanted to watch. We literally had to stand up and watch the game from a much smaller tv that was at the bar. I even had to put on my glasses to see what was on tv. When I asked if they can change the channel to the game we requested, she said no it was against their policy (even though no one was watching the huge tv that was next to our table). read more

One of those places that is famous around the Princeton/Brunswick area and people swear by it. It's not bad...the food is typically fairly good...but its just traditional bar/pub food. I typically always get the burgers since I believe they are really known for them. The taste and flavor is always there. The issue I have with this place is 1. Prices are ok...but everything seems a dollar to high. 2. The lightening and atmosphere is dated and kinda old relative to competition in the area. 3. Service is spotty. Sometimes you get a good waiter and your food comes out fine. Other times the kitchen seems jammed up forever and the server has been out on a smoke break for 30 minutes. Its really really spotty. Came in with my friends last Saturday night and had a wonderful time at the bar. Drink service was fast and friendly but get in early because the bar filled up quick. Free popcorn is a nice bar snack and my Cheddar burger was a spot on med rare and being able to watch them cook it adds a fun level to the whole experience. Definitely coming back soon. read more
