One half bar, one half dining and all parts fun. There is a good reason Tiger's Tail has been a local favorite for so many years. Table for 4 in the connected dining area on an early Sat evening. Much nicer seating area than you'd expect from the outside or when walking through the lively bar. Menu is diverse and feels a bit like something you'd find in Maine with many seafood options. Came for the Steamers which were every bit as good as I remembered. They are served with a dunking broth and melted butter. Best with a dunk in the broth. I had a generous basket of fish and chips. Two ample sized thin fish fillets over thick cut fries. Good stuff. The lobster roll might be a pass, more of a chopped up lobster salad than the traditional chunky style. Not a huge surprise considering the lower price. The bun was also a bit overstuffed. Still tasty. Enjoyed their Tiger's Tail IPA brewed locally by Opportunity. Great beer list. Service was excellent and friendly. Prices fair. Hopefully it won't be another 10+ years until I'm back in the Princeton area, not sure I can go that long without more steamers. read more

Very nice place I hade the Thursday day special Meatloaf and it was excellent had a Cajun spice to it which was excellent flavor. Had the oysters on a half shell along with the pretzel for an appetizer. Then for desert it was their peanut butter pie yummmm. The staff were awesome and was extremely quick in my eyes. My husband and I recently moved to Montgomery, and we've heard of Tiger's Tale being the local bar/restaurant to go to. We went on a Tuesday night which was BOGO burger night, and it was surprisingly (to us for a Tuesday) crowded. The inside looks like it hasn't changed since it opened 40 years ago, and it reminds me of the bar in the show Cheers. When I initially saw the menu online before going, I thought the prices seemed pretty steep. However, once I saw the portion sizes of the entrees and the cocktails, it made sense. We've already gone back a second time within a month, and it was so hard not to order the fish tacos and fries again, they were that good! read more

Had dinner and drinks here tonight with a friend.. TT has been my fav, go to places for So many years and it just gets better and better. First, Holly and Jimmy are the staple bartenders and best you'll ever find!! Love them so much!! Tonight I had the Cajun pork chops which are honestly some of the best pork chops you'll ever have. We've had lunch here many times over the years but this will be our last. We asked for two waters with no lemon and the waitress brought them out with lemon. She just looked at us when we said we didn't want lemon in them and made no move to correct it. We ordered a Jersey burger and a regular hamburger, both medium rare. They both came out well done. We probably should have sent them back but that would have meant getting up and trying to find a server. The prices have gone up and the Kaiser rolls were much larger than the burger. It wasn't worth the price they were charging, especially since they only offer potato chips with the burger unless you want to pay an up charge which is strange since most of their other sandwiches come with fries. read more

I've always passed by this place on Route 206, and wanted to give it a go. I went here for lunch with my brother, it was my first time there, but he's been there before. I will say it was a great first impression. When we walked inside, it was very clean, and we got seated right away. It was the beginning of lunch hour, so it wasn't really busy yet. More people came in as time passed there. Our waitress was very professional, and made sure she got all our orders correct. The burger I got was cooked just right to my liking, and my brother really enjoyed his salad. The dessert was amazing too. It was definitely all worth the price as well. Family-friendly, reasonably-priced tavern/restaurant. Drinks are good; food is good; staff is friendly and courteous. If you're looking for Princeton-level high cuisine, go elsewhere, but this is the place for a burger and a beer, a few drinks with friends, or a casual afternoon drop-in. Servings of everything seem to be huge, and the seafood offerings are fresh and well-prepared (we've had several.) The place is old, which contributes to the charm, but a little more attention to cleaning and dusting wouldn't be a bad thing (check for cobwebs in the windows, guys.) This place may have a long-standing reputation, but our recent visit made it clear that it's no longer deserved. The food was inedible. The meatloaf was mushy and strangely multi-colored, the mashed potatoes tasted industrialized, the fish "tacos" were worse than supermarket fish sticks -- and aside from a few passable fries -- we couldn't eat any of it. So I moved to this area over a year ago and never had a chance to try this legendary place. The place is a local favorite and I've seen tons of cars in the lot so that's always a great clue. However, since it's a bar and I don't drink, I felt like I wasn't missing out on anything. I was sorely mistaken. Tonight I met up with my out of town family members and we were all impressed with the level of service, friendly staff and overall vibe of the restaurant. The menu had a plethora of dishes so I opted for the chicken and cheese quesadilla. The chicken was flavorful with the right amount of sauciness. The presentation was nice and the tortilla was so crispy and tasty. I didn't think that I would ever say this, but this was the best quesadilla that I've ever had. One of the most thoughtful and heartwarming touches from the evening was that we were gifted a beautifully decorated Tiger's Tale glass memento for our inaugural visit! I'm been dining here for many, many years, always looked forward to the Chicken Cordon Blue sandwich, never had an issue with food or service. However, until tonight , I ordered my usual chicken cordon blue sandwich, one bite and I felt as though the chicken felt rubbery and raw, I spit it out into a napkin. I cut into another piece and noticed the chicken looked pink. I Brought it to the waitress attention, she took it back to the kitchen. She returned and told me the manager will take half price off my meal. I said excuse me, half? I said The entire meal went back French fries and all. Manager came to our table and repeated half price off, claiming I eat half the meal. I was actually taken back, and asked why half? I had to show her the piece I spit into the napkin. She still insisted half off, no apology, no have a dessert on us....nothing. I showed her the picture below, and I said fine, I'll have no problem sharing this picture. She leaves again, the waitress returned stating the entire meal came off the bill. I don't understand the lack of customer service, the lack of any concern what so ever. Took a trip back in time with a visit to The Tiger's Tale. It's the type of sports bar my husband and I frequented when we were dating many moons ago. Tom and I sat in the bar area so he could watch one of several college football games playing. Our server Melissa was pleasant and efficient. I had the portobello mushroom sandwich and my husband had the plain bar pie. My sandwich was delicious although I ended up removing the cheese from the second half as there was so much! The pile of fries that came with it was very generous! Tom's pizza was cooked beautifully and he enjoyed it very much. We were not rushed to leave when we finished. A great Saturday lunch spot. Stopped in for lunch with the kids (ages 9 & 5). This was my first time back at Tiger's Tale in a long time, but I may need to make it a regular stop! They were ready for the kids with their own menus and coloring sheet! Bonus props to our waitress, Lucy, for taking the knives off the table as soon as we sat. That was super helpful! They have a selection of sliders on the menu and accommodated my request to have three different sliders on one plate. The only flaw with the sliders was that the chicken strip in the buffalo chicken slider was a little overcooked. The pulled pork and pork roll sliders were great. (Yes, it's pork roll. Go back to Other Jersey, Taylor Ham people). By far the best thing was the pub fries. The best I've had in a while! The onion soup was cheesy but not that flavorful. The 1/2 roast beef sandwich was a lump of cold meat on a stale roll. Nothing on it even though I asked the server for L&T. Had a really nice dinner here with my family tonight. I had the potato leek soup and the salmon tower. The soup was hot and creamy. Very tasty. I'm not sure why they call the salmon a "tower" but it was delicious. The teriyaki sauce they use is really good. I also had one of their summer cocktails, the watermelon fizz. It was cold and refreshing. My mom's lobster was slightly undercooked but it was quickly rectified. Everyone else was very happy with their meals. The server was pleasant. My only complaint is having to box up my own leftovers. As for the ambiance, my only complaint is that the tables are very close together which makes it difficult to move around. I kept bumping into the person behind me and there is a table blocking the hallway to the restrooms. I wish there were more vegetarian options but overall a nice meal. read more

Maybe I'm old fashioned but sometimes little things bother me, particularly when paying a decent price for a meal. To be fair there were aspects of tonight's visit that delighted, others that irritated, the three stars being the average result. Delightful were the $4 beer pints, the extent of blue cheese on my burger for the extra $1, and the so charming server, Joanna. Irritating was the temperature differential between the fries and the burger (one needn't be a logician to deduce that the finished fries sat waiting for the burger), the cost of those cold fries (described to me as an 'upcharge from the chips - but judging by the $4.99 price tag, I suspect it was charged as an order and not simply an upcharge). Mildly irritating was the nifty triangle-shaped plate - since I havent the hands of a brain surgeon, I found it difficult to eat without constantly knocking something onto the table. Now I feel better. Next time I will touch the fries right away (and then hope the burger stays warm while IT waits). read more
