I decided to give the tap third chance. We were greeted by our server quickly. We started by ordering a beer, mixed drink and an appetizer. The appetizer came out quickly. Our server did not seem overwhelmed, the bartender stood behind the bar most of the time with his arms crossed or on his phone. He did not have any customers at the bar at this time. I finally waved down our server to ask about our drinks. She went to "check" on them. They had been sitting at the end of the bar for 10-12 minutes. No apology or acknowledgment for the delay. Had she been busy or the bartender been busy I would have been more ok with the wait. Our food came out, it was hot and tasty. I had to ask for silverware after she brought our food. I want to like The Tap. The food is good but the service has never been good. Shame on me for giving them 3 chances. read more

On all 3 of the occasions I've came here you wait 20 minutes to have your order taken and waters brought, then another 20 for drinks to be brought out (no food was ordered either). The waiter attempted to confiscate and snap in half the (REAL) drivers license of a person in our group even after multiple forms of ID were offered (including a passport). We have been coming here for years and this is the most atrocious service I have ever had in town! I have never seen servers forget simple requests so many times. My boyfriend has soap in his drink and it took 30 mins for the server to grab a new drink, and the new drink has soap in it again. We waited 2 hours for our food to arrive and when we asked a waiter if there was any way he could check on how long the food would be, he rolled his eyes and told us "sure." We never got an answer from the waiter. Drinks take 20 minutes to come out each time and I was given the wrong drink. In total, we were at the restaurant for 3 hours since the waiters never come around to ask if you need anything, and the bar and kitchen take forever each time. The manager needs to either hire more staff or shut down parts of the restaurant to prevent more people from coming in. Most unorganized organization ever. read more

This is a great option for starting the night at Purdue. A great selection of beers, some of which are their own brews. I'm a diehard for their "Brickyard", but I've truly enjoyed most of their beers. The food is great as well, and the tap fries and/or pretzel are a must because of the delicious beer cheese. The Tap does live music on the weekends and trivia throughout the week, as well as shows local sports. Sometimes the live music or TV broadcast is too loud though and becomes a headache. read more

This is the 4th we have visited this establishment in the last 60 days. The service is always average at best . Today we attempted to take a party of 10 there ( 5 adults and 5 kids ) at 1:30 pm . even though they had open space in one portion of the restaurant they refused to seat us there and sat us in an area that could not accommodate the full group . The teenage boys offered to go to the fast food restaurant next door to open up some room for the group . About 3/4 of the way through our meal that included apps, bar drinks and entrees they returned with to go drinks and quietly joined our table to wait for us to finish . The manager abrubtly approach our table and confiscated their sodas without offering them a replacement drink . Overall a very poor experience , I would not recommend this restaurant . read more

This was my first visit to Purdue with my family. I did not realize how hard it would be to find a place on campus to enjoy a cold beverage and food with my children along. Out of town visitor. Went in on. Sunday with family for the "experience" of this fairly new restaurant. Our server was attentive, courteous and was tipped according to her assistance. (20%+). Food was luke warm (toasted sandwiches were at best luke warm, as were the fries). Food seemed to take a while- other tables were served before us & we were there first). It happens. When our food was served 3/4 of us asked for additional beers. 2 in bottles, 1 a draft. And we waited. Waited. Waited. This is a beer "Tap" place. One of us asked the non busy, looking up TV channels bartender what the hold up was. He asked us who our server was and to let them know. Game on dude. Reach into the cooler, grab 2 bottles, pour a small draft and meet at the end of the counter. Talking about being put out over doing your JOB. Serve beers. You have one thing to worry about- serving your customers drinks and beers. Owner: noon on a Sunday. This bar tender was pompous, rude, too busy figuring out what beer he wanted to drink at his private table, the single woman behind the register AND what was on the TV to be in charge of customers. Our experience at the tap was phenomenal. The waiters were so attentive. We were sitting outside in the heat and they brought us waters at the perfect rate. The food and beers were delicious. Zach and the rest of the staff worked in harmony together in to keep us hydrated. They were a well-oiled machine created for the purpose of perfectly timed water delivery. 100% will be back next time I am thirsty.
