They fixed the $12 beers, lowered the music a little, got me a big fan of half price apps 3-6 during the week; burgers and some dishes are still requiring a small loan from broke college kids. Salmon, as across the city, is only a deal at Town and Gown (finish that remodel please!) yet compared to 9 Irish, 8Eleven, Boilerhouse Prime, and The Lawrence, The Tap is a bargain. I highly recommend getting some samples! I typically need two to four drafts to splash down to check out every changing options, white porters, festbiers, black lagers, spiced ales, fruity beers, and ciders easily overwhelm the casual sipper. The big surprise win that actually got me back to The Tap this year is Sunking's Amber Has Two Mom's, a complex and unrivaled red ale I need to find now that it's gone. There is an unfortunate gluten heavy hand over most of the menu, dairy, and high carbs pervade perhaps to combat BAC. Gluten free crust is offered for pizza and buns but no such options for apps or wraps. Surprisingly the ahi, burger of the month, their sauces, especially the pesto, are fantastic! Parking can be tricky but there's plenty of street and garage options. I had given up with the trivia allowing cheaters to prosper, perhaps that has been addressed. Rewards program is awkward, unable to check points or browse deals without the app. There are few better outdoor dining spots for people watching and taking in the Purdue vibes however the picnic tables are not so stable or comfortable. Plenty of space inside, private room in the back, massive bar offers literally hundreds of options and most any day can pour nearly any style imaginable; and the staff this fall is well trained and friendly. My sister-in-law is a student at Purdue and chose to celebrate her birthday at The Tap. The menu is really diverse with wings, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, and tacos. I ordered the Mac and Beer Cheese burger that came with seasoned fries. The burger had a freshly made patty with a brioche bun. Bacon, tomato, red onion, and lettuce came on the burger as well. The mac and beer cheese came grilled on it and seemed to soak up some of the cheese. The one complaint I bad about the burger was that it wasn't cheesy enough. The fries were fantastic! They had some kind of seasoning and went well with the parmesan garlic aioli that came with it. I love sauce and I asked the waitress for a Kickin Bourbon BBQ sauce on the side. That would be the first sauce I put on wings with its sweet but spicy Bourbon kick. The service was good for a Saturday afternoon and the stools are pretty comfy. Plus, I love the TVs every where. Pros - Atmosphere was great with mix of students/staff/faculty. - Location was good and despite the parking across the street being blocked due to new high-rise, still a good deal of street parking nearby (not ideal for handicap parking however) - Tap fries were good (good seasoning) but food was room temp when we got it. Cons - Service was SLOW!!! Took 10 minutes to have drink order taken, and another 20 after asking for bill to get it. - Thought I'd try an Indiana bar staple (tenderloin) and it was burnt and tough as leather (almost). Also the bun was not the freshest (didn't taste it anyway). Could have been worse, but for a eh-busy Wednesday night dinner, could have been better. Have been to The Tap a few times in the past. Had a fabulous meal last night, cheese curds and pretzel sticks were the perfect starters. The cheese sauce for the pretzels is outstanding! The Nashville hot chicken sandwich is actually hot which is nice compared to many places. And the beer cheese steak was fantastic, btw get the tots on the side, yum. Wings and Mac and cheese rounded things out. Great drinks and if you want to catch a game they have plenty of TV's everywhere. Nixon was our server, she did an exceptional job. Below average night at The Tap. Server was sweet, but often disappeared completely for long periods of time. They were not busy and had plenty of staff. We never received our actual entrée which were the sliders and to top it all off, my wife was overcharged for her beer and then told that it was the same as the beer one of our friends at our table was drinking and as you can see in the picture they're not even close. Maybe a second online menu via a QR code with better drink descriptions would help? The food is overpriced and low quality. Let me start by setting the scene. This location is located on the Purdue campus in West Lafayette. We visited on a Sunday afternoon during the summer when school is out so it was not busy at all. First impression was, why are there kids in here? It clearly states that it's a 21+ establishment, but the table next to us had three underage (tweens) at the table. The food was good, but I don't see myself eating here again as it just doesn't have "the vibe." I love a nice restaurant as much as I love a good dive. This was neither. Have you ever been in a nightclub during daylight hours when everything is lit up and just looks wrong? This felt like I was in a nightclub during daylight hours. Everything in here is black. During the day it just looks blah and dirty with all the black. Considering they weren't busy, it wasn't kept very clean. There was a table with two buckets of water on them and water sloshed around, but no staff around it so I'm not sure why it was sitting there like that. When the table next to us with the tweens left, the busser came and wiped down the table, wiping all of the crumbs onto the seats and floor and leaving them there. The seating is all high tops or bar seating. This isn't somewhere where I could bring my older parents to eat as it would be unsafe for them to eat at a high top and they would be uncomfortable. There are a few booth seats, but they're raised to a height too to meet the height of the high top tables. They need more variety in their seat options as I would have preferred not to be sitting at a high top as well. Overall, the food was good and obviously they have an extensive beer selection, but the place was super drab and a little dirty. I would not return. read more

Daughter is a Purdue student and wanted to try The Tap. Found parking down the street pretty easily. Went with a group of 5 for lunch on a Sunday. Place wasn't busy at all. They had a huge menu of drinks, which was a plus. Service was slow but friendly. We ordered cheese curds as an app and they were fine but nothing great. For lunch we had soup, salad, wrap, burgers, wings and a tenderloin sandwich. All came out slow and were room temp at best. Which was strange because it was not crowded. Our fries were ice cold. The soup was horrible - 3 of us tried it because we couldn't believe it. Wings were over cooked. Burger buns were days old and dry. Even for "bar food" it was the pits! A fantastic selection of beer! We have been here several times over the past year and a half and they always have new beers on the menu that they must be rotating through. I think this visit I tried the Dragon's Milk, which is a milk stout, and it was wonderful. Very dark and rich. The food is also good! This angus slider is the best thing I've had from here! Lots of flavors happening all at once, especially if you drizzle a bit of the aioli on the burger...yum! The atmosphere is a lot of fun with the decor and music, but it may be difficult to find a table for more than 6 people, especially if they're busy. Seating was self service so you had to be aggressive to seat yourself. On this occasion there was lots of staff to move drinks and food. They did a very good job at keeping the place clean. Our waitress was very friendly and hustled the best she served this large crowd. We did order the pretzel along with some drinks. The pretzel was outstanding. It was large, soft and spiced with salt pieces. The cheese was a bit spicy but delicious! The cheese was smooth and plentiful to dip the large amount of pretzel in. Give this place a try. The apple pie slushie sounded questionable to me but it tasted amazing they definitely got the apple pie flavor into a drink. I visited The Tap during my first night in Indiana. They have an extremely wide variety of beers on tap, and I had the opportunity to try a few. Our server (I think his name was Al) started by taking everyone's orders but after delivering our orders rarely came back. I'm not a big connoisseur of alcohol, so I ordered The Flight to sample four. I was told that one of the ones I wanted, the POGizard, was out. As such, I ordered a Waggle Dance. When it had arrived, the color of my Waggle Dance looked different than two or my friends' Waggle Dance in appearance. I was later told that I was given a different drink than either and was told that the POGizard was in fact available and only given a small shot glass as compensation. In order to get our server back, I had to grab the attention of another server to get our original server. Our table also ordered a variety of snacks to go along our drinks, and the Margarita Pizza was one of them. The pizza was food, but it was lacking the basil that was mentioned on the menu. read more

Pretty recent sports bar that opened up near Purdue's campus. Lots of beer on tap and good variety on the menu. Seat yourself when you walk in. For appetizers we got the cheese curds which came with a really good sauce. For food I got the chicka chicka boom boom wrap with fries. The chicken was marinated really well and the wrap was overall delicious. All the food was good but service was a bit slow, potentially from being short staffed. We came on a Sunday for dinner around 8:30pm. It's 21+ after 9pm but if you have anyone in your party under 21 they can stay as long as they come before the 9pm cutoff. read more

We shared looks with a number of server where we got no replies or help from anyone but just one guy telling us that a server will be with us shortly ( still no server came 15 mins later) they saw us, ignored us and we left without ordering yet no one cared. One time my friend and I came in and sat for nearly 30 minutes with menus in front of us, and with no server ever came, meanwhile the, Friday night "live music" was quite literally so loud and blaring in our ears that our ears hurt.
