This is the other location that is affiliated with walts pub on the westside. The menu is pretty much the same for both locations. I have had a variety of items and everything has been good. The only thing I have had that I didn't care for was the triple B flatbread but I think it is because the beer cheese overpowered it for me. It can be a bit loud in here due to the layout and hardwood floors. There are televisions located all around the seating areas so you don't have to worry if you are looking forward to watching a game but others want to go out to dinner. They have a nice fireplace which is very cozy when it is cold outside. Friday and Saturday nights they offer dinner specials which include an entree and 2 sides for around 18.00. Overall, this is a nice local place to take the family for a dinner or meet some friends and enjoy watching a sports event. read more

This review is based on the food. The service was excellent! A group of 6 of us were there. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The server took our drink orders and gave us menus very promptly. I can only speak for my food. I had fish and chips. The breading on the fish was very salty and weirdly textured. Fish inside was hot and good. Waffle fries appeared to have been fried too hard and were not good. One of our party mentioned the same about the fries. It was my first time at Walt's since they moved to the "new" location across the street from the old location. Will not go back unless it's another group dinner. read more

This was my first visit to Walt's. We came on a Sunday morning. The place was somewhat busy for the time of day. Overall the place is huge with lots of parking. The building is relatively new so everything...including the restrooms were maintained and cleaned nicely. Upon entering the door the confusion started. It was seat yourself. However there was no place for a party of two to sit. The main dining area was kind of a jumbled mess of large party tables. In our confusion someone came and guided us to a back room. This was very isolated and had a very unwelcome feeling. The manager helped gets drinks, bus tables and get the bill - well done! The waitress was very polite and friendly - nice job! I had the breaded tenderloin and a house boat salad. The salad was very tasty and fresh. The tenderloin was nicely breaded and had an excellent taste. The restaurant was beautiful, with lovely brick and a fireplace . It was cold inside and I asked the waitress about turning on the fireplace , she said it only gets turned on when it was below freezing. Everyone in our party kept their coats on . The food wasn't good. Onion rings that were frozen not handmade, my ribs were dry and not really edible, like they were rewarmed from yesterday, didn't care for my Cole slaw. I've eaten at Walt's Other Pub many times for lunch and dinner and it was always satisfactory. So, we decided to go there for Sunday brunch. It was a different experience. The service was excellent. (I apologize for not remembering our server's name, but he was very good.) I ordered a full order of sausage gravy and biscuits. They must have been using powdered sausage because there was no identifiable meat in the gravy. Also, there was not enough gravy to cover the four 1/2 biscuits. So, I asked for some more. Our waiter brought out a small bowl of gravy and I added it all to my plate. Even with this addition, it was not "too much". One of my friends ordered a !/2 order of biscuits and sausage gravy. She also did not have enough gravy to cover two 1/2 biscuits. Imagine my surprise when I received my bill and found that they charged me $3.99 for the "extra" gravy! My wife ordered the breakfast bowl. It was supposed to have eggs, sausage gravy and potatoes with a "Velveta Cheese sauces". It must have been at least 80% large chunks of potato. We certainly won't be going back for "Brunch". They need to bring their breakfast items up to the standard of their other food. read more

Last night we ate here after a ball game. I ordered a club sandwich and the bread had green mold on it. The manager said sorry, but he did not comp my sandwich. Instead, he offered me a free dessert. We're from out of town, but the good folks at the Sollar-Baker Funeral Home (across the street) highly recommended Walt's. We've eaten here three times in the last 10 days and it's been excellent each time. Their burgers, fried fish, wings, salads, desserts, ... everything has been of excellent quality, tasting freshly homemade. The staff are uniformly friendly and competent. Just an overall great experience. We enjoyed this so much, we've reserved a room for a funeral wake next week, and we're confident our family will enjoy meeting here then. read more

I went here last night for the first time with some friends with plans of a shared birthday celebration -- one of whom had mobility trouble from recent surgery. The guy ahead of us was seated by a waitress/receptionist within a few minutes since we got there, so we figured, great, we will be up next soon. Nope -- it took nearly ten minutes before the same listless, unfriendly, blue-haired waitress came back, with a crowd of people building up behind us in the meantime. They seriously do not have more than one person seating people on a Friday evening, much less a friendly one or one who doesn't move at a snail's pace? In any event, we had wanted to sit outside, but were told that they did not have the outdoor area open right now -- so after wasting our time and keeping a handicapped person standing around while at it, we left to go elsewhere. I can't speak to the quality of the food therefore, but their service is clearly wanting and that alone would not encourage me to come back and give them another chance. read more

Walt's on the south side, where retired people go for dinner and think they're cool. Everyone says the wings are amazing, so naturally I got the bacon cheeseburger with blue cheese. It was good but nothing beyond standard. I think the bacon was the best ingredient, thick and slightly chewy. I like the bar and beers on tap. Bell's double creme stout was good and the Two Hearted was excellent. Went here for 22 person work dinner. Had nice long table in front of the huge fireplace. One waiter did his best to serve our group but as you can imagine it was slow and he couldn't keep track of everything. At four stars, I'm rounding up and crediting the good beer selection, ambiance, local feel, and ample parking. Service was slow but he tried. The food is decent, not bad but downtown meals are far superior. The retirees don't know any better, so c'mon over to Walt's, where being 50 makes you look like a Millennial. read more

While visiting Indiana my boyfriends family came here as a 3 way birthday trip (himself, his father, and his grandmother). I had briefly yelped WOP before arriving and agree with Chris M.'s review - the parking lot will look scarily full, but this place is so big that you wonder where all the people have gone. We (a large party of 14) were seated in the secondary room at one of the large party tables. This room was fun because they had a wall where the kids (or childish 24 year old Yelpers) could draw on the wall. My boyfriends little sister and I promptly took hold of the markers (although some were dry and could use replacing) and had fun writing a birthday message. We went on a Sunday which had $3 rum specials. They had a variety of flavors and I'm pretty sure I went with cherry rum and sprite. For $3 I couldn't go wrong! I believe they also had $4 giant Bloody Marys which some in our party found too spicy, but once again - for $4 can you really complain? We ordered apps family style and I enjoyed sampling the fried pickles ($6.99), southwest egg rolls (always a favorite / $7.50), and loaded potato bites ($6.99). For my main course I went with the surf and turf ($18.99) which included an 8oz. fillet and 4 jumbo shrimp. It also came with a cesar salad and with the waffle fries (which admittedly were not that good). For a sweet treat I went with the cheesecake roulette and ended up with an oreo cheesecake it was delicious and covered in fudge - I so did not want to share that! I also sampled some brownie madness, and was in heaven when I was given a woodchuck cider and the remnants of a margarita. Service was friendly, and the one server was able to handle our bustling and loud table (she did great, but she probably would have appreciated some help). One negative (and lack of star) would be that they ran out of baked potatoes (which honestly I was DYIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING for) and the way the waitress made it sound was like they completely ran out (no "oh, it might be ten minutes or so for a potato" just "there's none"). Besides that (and the waffle fries which I would not recommend) we had a real nice, festive, family meal and the overall experience was enjoyable. We came with a party of 5 with reservations, and were sat immediately. Amy our server was very good, attentive and quick. The apps were very good and my meal was good. I got the Hawaiian chicken with BBQ sauce. There wasn't enough sauce, so I asked for more. Any was quick to bring it out, the only issue (and reason this is not 5 star) is the sauce was cold. They ruins it, makes the food cold and overall is just not good. I will come back if I am ever in town again, and get the bacon wrapped pretzel bites, they are TO DIE FOR! read more

The party room is a hit. Over the years we've had several large groups of people get together and wanted our own space and Walt's always make it happen and it happens without issues. The buffet style food is nice because people can get what they want and as much as they want. We've been here just as a family too and have never had bad service or food. Came for lunch based on the recommendation of a customer and I was not impressed. I ordered what was billed as the famous grilled pork tenderloin sandwich. It came out completely overcooked and flavorless on a supermarket-quality hamburger roll with lettuce and tomato. That's it. No condiment, no seasoning, no nothing. Where should I start? I went tonight to give it one more try. That's my last time. The food: It just depends. I have had some things on their menu that are really good such as the breaded mushrooms, shrimp with cherry bomb sauce, catfish, and a few others. Majority of the food has been things you could make a home only better. They used to have amazing soups but I have no idea what happened there. I just know I don't order them anymore. They taste like a lot of oil or just cream. Overall, food is disappointing. I'd rather go somewhere else. Service: There is one waitress I just love. Her name is Trish. I highly recommend you ask for her. I found out she only works lunch though. She has always been very kind, funny, fast, and just an all around joyful waitress. I have had one or two waiters/waitresses in the past several years I have been going there and trying over and over again to give them more chances, that were good. Most of the staff is very slow at getting your food out to you and the correct way you ordered it. Normally always forget things and just don't seem to care. One of the managers I have encountered, well...she just seems like she has her head in the clouds. Not good for business at all. Tonight it took about 15 minutes just to get a water. 38 minutes to get our appetizer. No refills on my water I asked for till about 5 minutes before we left. Also some kind of foreign object in my dates sandwich. When we finally got our waitresses attention after sitting there not eating the sandwich for about another 15 minutes, she took half of the sandwich away and didn't return for another 10 minutes and just asked if we wanted a box. She had "forgotten" about the sandwich issue. The manager did not help at all. Like I said, that's my last time. Oh and PS- If you do go, look at, in, or around your food before eating it so you don't accidentally eat a foreign object! read more

I'm a huge fan of this place. Discovered it on a random night out with boyfriend, ended up LOVING it. Their jack bites (appetizer) are simply unbeatable. They also have excellent sweet tea! Their menu has a wide variety of options, and almost anything you get will be fine. I'm giving it four stars because of the inconsistency in the food though. While every dish is passable, I want a restaurant where everything is better than "just ok." Here are the items I RAVE about; - buffalo chicken sandwich - chicken caprese - chicken tenders - pork tenderloin - create your own burger. This was my first and last time at this or any of Walt's pubs. But first, the good -- our waitress was wonderful, cheery and helpful. However, the food was a major disappointment. I ordered the House Garbage salad, which was supposed to offer a combination of lettuce, chicken strips, tomatoes and more. Instead, I received a huge pile of lettuce, a large helping of olives, a smattering of chicken strips and about three small pieces of a diced tomato. It's like they weren't even trying. The restaurant was not very busy -- I guess I know why now -- so the kitchen help should not have been in a rush. If a restaurant cannot handle a basic salad, I don't trust them with any other food. read more

Bloody Mary's are amazing here, but I've never had anything food wise I've ever wanted to have again. My last experience the food gave me diarrhea, the roast beef over hash browns on bread with gravy on top. I gave it a shot. Seriously who puts frozen hash brown patties between roast beef and bread. The roast beef was low grade microwave dinner quality and I believe that was the culprit for praying to God on the toilet. The staff as always been great and clean facility. I'm giving this a 5, because 4.5 isn't an option and I'm feeling a little generous. In my humble opinion, there are no better wings. I like to get them with the Chipotle ranch dressing, which is absolutely excellent. The bartenders and wait staff are very attentive and friendly. The wait on food is reasonable, and waiting to be seated usually isn't too bad either. I do sometimes wish the seating was more comfortable, but it doesn't bother me too much... Walt's is a local favorite. The building is new (it used to be across the street). When you enter there is a bar/dining area. Off to the side is a family room with walls that the kids can draw on. There is an upstairs room that features a balcony with seating. The menu is the usual pub type food, including a selection of entrees named after local high schools. Of course, the breaded pork tenderloin is a feature (because this is Indiana). The Boilermaker (named for the Purdue University mascot) is a cheeseburger dipped in beer batter and deep fried. I haven't tried it because I'm not ready to induce a heart attack. The catfish is great, and so is the Windsor. The prices are very reasonable. The wait staff can be spotty but there are good servers and just average ones. Been here many times and I'm a local so I'm very likely to return. read more
