Why is this place rated so high and why the prices are so high. I don't get it. $19 for a bison burger, just the burger. Sides are extras. Was the burger even that good. No. There are not enough garlic aoli on my burger so it was kinda dry. Bacon was chewy and not crispy. Service is very slow even though the brewery is not full. I haven't been to LBC in several years, so I was excited to see specials listed on a board out front. Today, I was after a bowl of soup. It was early and a table full of local law enforcement was having lunch. Always a good sign when the locals eat there. They are housed in an old building. There is patio seating, bar area seating an another large dining room with a large beer mural. We got a table by the window. Matthew was the only server working when we arrived. He was friendly and made recommendations despite being busy. He said the soups are homemade and a guy comes in a makes them a couple times a week. The soup of the day was a Turkey Alfredo. The soup was creamy, hearty and thick. The seasoning was perfect, not too much salt. I would have traded some of the noodles for a few more vegetables. But it was really good none the less. The Tap Room Chicken Sandwich,bbq pulled chicken topped with melted cheese and deep fried onion wedges, stole the show. A generous portion of the chicken topped a fresh chewy pretzel roll. The onions were unique and delicious. Sandwiches come with fabulous house made chips. Soooo good, golden brown and not too salty. Yum. His sandwich was $2 off as a daily special. Really enjoyed the brewery. We sat on the front patio with our dog. The patio is all sun so if it's hot out keep that in mind for the dog. I had a cob salad, delish. Hubby had the burrito, yum. The baked beans and fries are worth coming back for in the future. We also enjoyed the beer. I'm an IPA gal and I really enjoyed the 85 and my husband said the oatmeal stout was very good. Went for a holiday dinner with work colleagues, I ordered smoked salmon bagel sandwich with fries! I asked for customization as it had bacon in it and I don't eat bacon, so I asked for it to be removed, and the server was very nice about it! However, when my order came out, it still had bacon, I politely reminded the server (this was another woman this time) that I needed one without bacon, she gave a "look" I did not like at all, and then raised her eyebrows and took the plate away instead of saying sorry, and then 2 minutes later brought it back without bacon, I felt like she just removed the bacon from the sandwich instead of making a new dish for me, since it came out too quickly, I called her again and asked for a new one, she went back in and came out saying, "I gave you the wrong order earlier and this is the right one" and just left without even hearing my response. Now, I'm unsure whether that's the truth or she just flat out lied to my face, but I did not feel at peace and couldn't enjoy my dish at all. I definitely would recommend this restaurant. My husband and I came in late right before closing, and we were greeted by the bartender as if it was not close to closing time. That means a lot when you've been working all day and you don't want to cook at home. The food was wonderful and the drinks were great. Good local brewery to try, that's also kid friendly. Nice rustic style. My favorite is their pear cider. So delicious, and it's not too sweet. The kids food is a decent sized portion as well. My son smashed his personal pizza. I had the hero sub, which is also a good size. The fries are tasty, especially with the Cajun seasoning. The sub could've been a little more flavorful, but not bad. We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty empty. It made me nervous how empty it is, but it is the summer and class at Purdue isn't in session, so maybe that's why? Or maybe it is more of a dinner rather than lunch spot? Regardless, our service and food were so good! The Scotch eggs were AMAZING. So flavorful, piping hot, and yummy. We also had the pretzel, which was okay. Also, the potato munchers, which were really good. I had the fish and chips and WOW! That batter was phenomenal. It was crispy, perfect thickness, and flavorful. The fish wasn't "fishy" and was buttery. The fries with it had Cajun seasoning and were so good. I stopped in Lafayette Brewing Co. At about 5pm on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was comfortably busy and I was able to easily find a seat at the bar. I was quickly served and ordered a pint and it was quickly brought to me. The bartender asked me if I wanted food and I did and he made a couple of recommendations. Killing time before our flights out of Indy we were looking for spots on Main St. to check out. We were in town for a reunion and walking around at my hubby's old haunts. This place has apparently been here since 1993. I think the bartender said it was the first craft beer company in the area (or one of the first). We only drank a couple beers (each), no food. It is a huge place. The bar area is just beautiful. Lots of gargoyles too - forgot to ask if there was a reason, but they are cool. Loved their IPAs! Friendly service. Highly recommend. I'm not sure why this place only has 3.5 stars, because it deserves way more! Stopped by this gem on a Friday afternoon for a quick lunch on our way down to Indy. Service was great, ours was polite, chill, and attentive. The beer I wanted to try (Chauncey Hill) was out, but our server encouraged me to try the one with mango purée based off of what I told him I liked, and I loved it! My husband ordered the eighty five beer, which he also really liked. To be fair, we are both huge fans of their Boiler Gold beer, which we often get at Purdue football games. Now, on to the food. We were passing through Lafayette so we decided to stop by for lunch and beers. We started by ordering 2 flights with 4 beers in each for $6. You can pick any of the beers they have listed on draft. Overall a great deal for a flight! For food we ordered the spicy garlic shrimp po'boy with chips and the pesto melt with fries. We asked the waitress which fries she recommended and she said Parmesan. With the understanding that fries are an up charge, I wouldn't order them again. They were flimsy and lacked in flavor. Had date night with my wife here tonight and we had a rockin' time! Our server, Darrius, was super polite and helped me pick my main meal because everything sounded delicious. My gal and I split the hummus plate which was presented beautifully and had plenty to go around. She's got a smaller appetite so she ordered the house salad and threw in some of the hummus to jazz it up. I got Darrius' recommendation of the Chicken Tippy; the cornbread pancake underneath the chicken was wonderful, chicken very flavorful, and the side of cajun fries had a solid heat and crunch. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star was that I could've used some more sauce drizzled on the chicken to counter the dry nature of the cornbread, but we're certainly going to come back here more and I know I won't be disappointed! I can't believe this place isn't rated higher. We stumbled upon it just by chance, and I'm so glad we did. We are in town for our first parents' weekend - let the festivities begin! When we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated by a friendly hostess. The decor is simple, and comfortable, with lots of wood and exposed duct-work. My one complaint: the front dining room had carpeting. I dislike carpeted dining areas, (but it won't impact my review). On to the food. My steak sandwich had an interesting twist: nacho sauce. My wife had the turkey club. The kids each had build your own burgers. Everything was tasty, but the star of the meal was the side order of cheddar jalapeño hash browns. They were delicious! But wait, there's more... They brew their own beer. We sampled their stout, IPA, and lager. All were excellent. Service was a little slow, but super friendly. My shrimp po boy was room temperature. Although it was seasoned well, the bread was just meh. The boys each had a burger. One was over cooked and one was undercooked. The manager apologized for the wait because of a party upstairs but did nothing to compensate for it. We also ordered spinach dip that never came. The outside is nice to people watch. I want to give this place a higher review, but I've been disappointed here several times. Location is great. Perfect place to grab a beer and bite before a show at the Long Center or Lafayette Theatre. The beers are hip and local. Inside seating is boring, needs updated. The patio area is really nice, but I always feel slightly forgotten when sitting outside. Service was much better this time around. In a previous visit the waiter rang the meals up on the wrong cards. It was a mess. The beer cheese soups is beyond nasty. I wanted to love it, but it tasted like vomit. I really want to like LBC more than three stars. For now, it's a solid A-OK choice. This was one of the first modern microbreweries before craft beer was a popular thing. They have a big menu, great seating by the windows, and on-site brewing. I think the beer selection and quality is actually on the upswing. I usually sit at the bar and drink alone, but have been known to be part of a group here. The lighting isn't the best in the back. They do have an upstairs room for small concerts that I've heard good things about. Overall LBC is 3.5 stars. Solid as in you probably won't be disappointed, but also average enough that you won't be wowed. So anyway, the review particulars. The food service is on the slow side. I like the bartenders but had a negative vibe from one of the managers who was closing out my tab. I pointed out that one beer was missing from my tab (I know, honesty is a virtue). Instead of fixing the tab, the manager says in sarcastic tone, "Well I guess the bartender is buying you that one." Why be a jerk about it? Was very happy to find this brewery on St. Patty's Day as our family was looking for a local joint on our last leg of our Indy trip. It is right on the main strip in Lafayette, and very spacious. They were able to seat us right away as well. A LONG list of brews, which was what my husband and I were hoping for! A kid's menu, which is what our boys were hoping for:) We came to realize very quickly that BBQ is just as big in Indy as it is farther south, so we went with the local grub...and it did not disappoint. My husband and I actually split a plate of BBQ chicken on cornbread - delicious!
