So far I have tried the broasted chicken, breaded tenderloin, catfish fillets, onion rings, sweet potato fries, and bean salad. All have been delicious. The house salad is ok, not exceptional, but the ranch dressing is wonderful, not runny. Overpriced. I get it's tough times but this food didn't taste that great - it just wasn't worth the 14.35 I had to spend on it. It's was meh. Maybe 8 buck meal tops. That said, the only waitress who also serves as the bartender at this small, homey - a bit seedy but comfortable - place was super kind and great with customers. So good hospitality and a lot of regulars I think. But I won't be becoming one. read more

Son and I popped in here on way to Lake Freeman and got food. Server was great and I enjoyed my tenderloin and my son loved his chicken sandwich! It has an old school (bears everywhere) feel to the dining room but kind of cool in a different way! read more

We have been buying tenderloins and other food from here for YEARS. The last year or more the tenderloin batter is way too salty. We have mentioned this at least 5 times and just get "It is what it is". After the first salty time we would even ask for just our Tenderloins have less salt, but that "wasn't possible." It saddens us to buy our Tenderloins elsewhere (dt Lafayette) but they even come with fries included for about the same price and aren't over-salted. Went for just appetizer with friends and both were delicious. Friends had chicken wings and we had onion rings. Both cooked to perfection.

Food is good however my daughter and I could've ate at red seven which is a gourmet restaurant downtown for the same price as I paid for the cat fish sandwich which had little or no fish on it, a ribeye sandwich and some fries. $39 later I can't even say how disappointed I am. Seriously the best tenderloin! I used to live in Americus and really miss this restaurant. Fried mushrooms are also really good. Salad bar is pathetic, so avoid it. Also- HEADS UP- Saturday is the fish fry. They only serve fish until dinner and you can't order anything else. It's very popular, so if you like fish it's the place to be. I ordered the broasted chicken and one piece of catfish. We had Half an order of onion rings & corn nuggets. And all the food and appetizers were awesome. I would recommend this place to anyone. While on a business trip in the area, I was in the mood for a good steak. I had read one review of this restaurant and it sounded good. The review said the steaks were huge. Not true. Maybe a pound or just under, about 3/4" thick, the platter they served it on was small. I thought I would start at what I thought was the tough end and work to the better, tender end. The entire steak was tougher than shoe leather. So much so , the steak knife could not cut completely through it. I had to tear it apart. I ordered it rare, The entire center of the steak was raw, about a 1/2 inch of it. Flavor? not much. On top of that, the steak was cold, not warm, but cold before I could eat half of it. The salad dressing was homemade. Honey mustard. It was OK but I like things a little strong. Suggest if you go, order the salad dressing on the side. The baked potato was pretty good, but cooked without seasoning (salt or anything else). The service was very good. Of course that could be because I was the only person in the restaurant. I like to eat early, around 4:30 or so, so that didn't set of any alarms. Over all, this cute little place needs to take steaks off their menu. They don't know how to prepare them, and they surely don't have a clue as to how to cook them. Never, I repeat, NEVER will I go back to this restaurant. read more

If you want fried food, this place is great. Anything other than that, then expect to be disappointed. There sandwiches are overcooked and "Mayo" on the menu is really Miracle Whip. Some people like Miracle Whip. Call it what it is, or have both. After saying all of this, I give them 2 stars because their fried food is decent. However frying bar food is idiot proof. In summary if you want a tenderloin, catfish, or some smelt, this is the place. If you want anything else, go somewhere else. read more
