We love the Sparrow and are here at least once a week. Great food and service always!

Was in town on business and stopped in and had lunch. I've been in several times because of the sandwiches are so great. Bartending staff was awesome. Super friendly and helpful. The bartender asked if I wanted to aïoli with my ketchup which I applied. Oh absolutely and it was delicious burger was pretty good size. I took half at home and ate at the next day. Visited during the Sunday brunch. Food was good but nothing special. Why 2 stars? The noise level in this place is off the charts. It registered in the danger zone on my app this morning at 11:30. 103 dBa. Everyone is shouting. It's insane. No way to enjoy a meal. If everyone used inside voices it might help. This is such a fun place to come. They have a food menu they keep refreshed, and always have fun drinks going. Really a fun spot to come to ring in the new year. They had a band and a dance floor going. Service was really friendly. The Personal Jesus was an interesting beverage, I love seeing pear liqueurs on the menu anywhere so it's definitely worth a try. read more

In town for work so I don't know anything. Checked for food places and came across TBS and ordered online and then walked down. Walked into the restaurant and was taken aback at the decor and bar. Great service. Had two glasses of Pinot Noir which were delicious and the Mediterranean salad. Don't sleep on it bc it was delicious! The Black Sparrow is a good bar and restaurant in downtown Lafayette IN. We ate there for lunch. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, and the service was good and attentive. They have two sections for indoor seating (at and around a large bar at the entry and several tables in the second room) and outdoor seating in front of the restaurant. I had the pork tenderloin sandwich (good - 7/10) and the chorizo potato soup (excellent with some good spice - 10/10). Revisiting the sparrow after a long absence. Still quirky and goth-like in a good way. Overall 3.5 stars. This visit had a helpful server who was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. The pizza quality is still good but a fraction less than I remember. BS isn't on my regular rotation anymore but it remains a Lafayette staple. They still have good beer selection, interesting cocktails (e.g. the Corpse Reviver), and many other unique menu items. read more

Cool vibe downtown with easy parking. Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned was fantastic and well mixed. Impressive spirit and wine collection. House Cocktails all seem classic and easily enjoyed. Parking in downtown Lafayette is moderately difficult to find but mostly free after a certain time. The front door of this place is difficult to find as there are no obvious signs. Inside is eclectic hipster artsy but cozy and comfy. Service was laid back but friendly. Beer selection is out of this world! Food selection is limited especially desserts and a little pricey even for this small town. The fries on everyone's plates were cold and room temperature at best. This was disappointing. Sandwich breads were not warmed or toasted either. I would come back for the beer selection and ambiance but have to eat somewhere else. read more

In total, if this restaurant was half the cost, it would be okay. But for $30 a person (at least) for dinner, it's not worth it. For a place that's so expensive, the quality does not make sense. Service is slow, although the waitstaff is always running around, so they seem to just be short staffed. I was sitting facing the kitchen, and watched food sit ready for pickup for 20-40 minutes before being served. I got the special caprese salad, which was okay, but bland and unbalanced and definitely not worth 11 dollars. I also had a Paloma (special cocktail), and that was a delicious redeeming quality- the cocktails are the only reason i was able to give three stars. My friends had the fig and the pepperoni pizzas respectively, and other than sitting under the warming lights for twenty minutes they were good. The music is great for a busy bar, but too loud for what should be a dinner restaurant... you need to shout at the people at your table, 2 feet away from The tables are dirty and old, and the bathrooms were gross. read more

Sunday brunch... I almost hate to post this, because I hate for BS to get even more crowded. If you have not been here for brunch, you are missing out!! But, if you are a big "chain restaurant" lover, this isn't your vibe.... and that's ok. One of the best restaurant in the Greater Lafayette area!! I'd drive six hours for the goat cheese (oh wait, I do! ;)).

We were seated quickly, brought our cokes and water and took order right away. We stopped in downtown for a little shopping and found this place. Interior rustic industrial. Ordered Sambal Wings,El Diablo Pizza, and an order of the cannolis. The wings were very good, but we didn't think much of the pizza - more of the kind we decided to get, it was cooked well, but just different. Love the cannolis.
