Came in to eat with a friend and ugh this place can do so much better. Pros - Food was great as always Cons - Service was AWFUL!! The pizza is cracker thin with only a tiny layer of soft dough, which I like but this was on the dry side. The staff were efficient and helpful taking my order over the phone. Updating my review after 8 years (8!) and Monical's is still one of my favorite places in Lafayette for lunch. The dining room is so nostalgic and fun, many interesting items on the walls to enjoy. No matter where you are seated you will enjoy the decor. The individual pleaser on the lunch menu is a good value and a delicious lunch. It's just the right size salad and pizza to satisfy your hunger without making you feel too stuffed or sleepy to return to work. Try drizzling the famous red dressing and ranch on your pizza, that's how I learned to eat Monical's pizza when I was first introduced to it 20 years ago in Illinois. The sausage and Pepperoni with mushrooms was great. And had plenty of sauce - zero complaints. However the Margherita pizza we ordered - was not a true Margherita pizza. The tomatoes are diced and the mozzarella is just shredded cheese and there was zero basil taste. And on top of all of that the pizza was Kind of dry tasting. This restaurant is actively deceiving there customers when they order online, when you type in monicals the first thing you see is the store front with a red delivery car with monicals all over it, so I ordered online and the first thing was you have to order $20 dollars worth to get delivery and my order was a little over $18 so I orderd extra stuff that i didn't even want to get the order over $20, my order after everything was $33.00 which includes a $6.00 delivery charge, so I tipped $3.00 which means I actually tipped $9.00, after I ordered I used monicals tracker and it said it was going to take over an hour and remember I already tipped the driver, then I get a different way to track the order and I find out that they are using doordash, if I wamted to use doordash I would have used the doordash site which I hate, so this restaurant is not forthright about a third party delivery like doordash, I called the manager expressing my concern about the deception and ask for my money back on my card, she told me online orders say they use a third party delivery service but I didn't bother to look for a disclaimer because the picture of there store front showed a monicals delivery car so why should I even look for a disclaimer, I told her it has been a hour and a half amd still didn't have my delivery and stated again I wanted my money refunded and she told " I will refund you money and they are still supposed to deliver my order and they will never take a order from me again", so I asked the manager their name and she refused to give it to me because I was going to file a complaint with the better business bureau, and I am corporate would like to know her name so they can actually come a police the Lafayette monicals, I have never had a experience like this in my life and I do not intend to let this matter rest until that manager is fired and the address the online deception. read more

The employees act like it's their 1st day, too busy gossiping and talking to each other or on cell phones. Also act like they're sooo stressed, it actually rubs off on some customers. I have eaten at multiple Monicals location, including West Lafayette and Delphi. I love their pizza and it did not disappoint in this case either. What was disappointing was the condition of the restaurant. Walked in at 6:30 on Monday. We're the ONLY people in the dining room eating in. However, half of the 8 booths were covered in dirty dishes despite the place being empty. The employees were standing around talking to each other rather than bussing tables. They remained dirty the entire time we were there. Every clean booth had people seated at them while we were there and NOT one of the dirty tables were cleared while we were there. The floor and several tables were also littered with food. The place was a mess. Again pizza was good, but no refill on my drink the entire time I was there. Went to Monicals with husband for a quick bite. We each tried a pan pizza, I picked the chicken ranch and husband picked a meat one I think? Taste was good, ingredients were fresh. Service however was not good. We were told our pizza would be done within a certain amount of time, we got there early and it was still not done by about 10 minutes after the time we were told it would be done. Employees really didn't seem interested in customer service, and we stood at the counter waiting for someone to come and check in on us. It seemed our pizza was just waiting there. We got this pizza delivered while staying at a hotel nearby. Their number was on the channel guide. What a nice surprise! Their specialty seems to be thin crust pizza. It was awesome. I got an 8" Italian Special variety, which was sausage, onions, green olives, mushrooms, and Italian hot peppers. My lips and tongue are still tingling. One of my relatives had this pizza catered in just finished eating cannot reiterate how good the pizza was the crust was crispy even the bottom was crisp and not limp from being undercooked or too greasy.
