This was our first stop at the Sandwich Shop. We were planning to go next door but upon exiting the car, we saw their sign "Dinner for 2" in honor of Valentines Day. 2 double bacon cheeseburgers, fries and 2 drinks for $22. SOLD! What a cute place! I don't know if they always hac the red and white checked table cloths and candles or if that was special for Valentines Day but it was adorable and made our Valentines meal a little more special. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive. Our cheeseburgers were some of the best we have ever had. We even considered driving back up there the next day for more! And the fries! By far the best fries! We couldn't stop eating them! We are sold. We will definitely be coming back here. I went here while on a work site visit! It's super cute! They have a classic lunch counter. We sat at the counter since it was super busy and seating was limited. Service was super fast. The food was mouthwatering! The fries alone were amazing! They were golden crispy perfection! I got the double cheeseburger with tomato, lettuce, and pickles on top. This small town diner has the absolute best sandwiches and fries in Indiana. I kid you not. Local friends highly recommended this spot so we stopped for a quick lunch. The place is cute with black and white tiled floors and brick walls located just off the square in Delphi. And it was packed for lunch. We took seats are the counter and watched the chef prepare the hand cut fries. The thin cut potatoes are popped into the fryer right before your eyes. And they are perfectly delicious. Everything is made fresh. The burgers are amazing. I had the shrimp po boy which was immense packed with fried Buffalo shrimp that packed a punch. The rotator and lettuce tamed the heat. The toasted bun was beyond delicious. I want to try every sandwich on the menu as I looked at what the regulars order. The staff is friendly and hustles. They were fun to watch. Amanda, our server, was attentive and kept glasses full. They have a couple tables outside on the sidewalk. There is plenty of free street parking. Simply amazing. Just passing through on way to Indy-great little diner! Food was amazing- burgers very tasty, fries fresh cut, fried a little darker but very good with just right amount of salt. The pork tenderloin sandwich was the real winner! Homemade fresh coleslaw- yum- with 2 iced teas total bill was about $20. In Chi-town it would have been $40- make this a definite stop even if you have to go out of your way a bit. We will be back! read more

My wife stopped at this restaurant last month as she traveled from our home in Chicago to central Indiana. She told me the hand-breaded pork tenderloins were amazing. Today I took her advice as I was passing through Delphi, and my wife was right! The breaded tenderloin is the best I've ever had anywhere. It was beyond amazing! Today I found myself in Delphi for lunch and I reached out to a friend on a place for a quick bite. He recommended two places, and I decided to visit The Sandwich Shop. This was the correct choice and I immediately know I was in for a treat. The place was hopping, even at 3pm and the smells were amazing. I ordered the double cheeseburger and a small fries (with cheese and bacon). The burger was one of the best I've had. Simply amazing! The "small" fries were the size of a mountain so needless to say, I couldn't finish them and now I'll have a snack for later. Definitely a place to try the next time you find yourself in Delphi! read more

The place was full, even outside seating so we took a seat at the counter. It was surprisingly comfortable. A lovely young girl waited on us and she was excellent. She Refilled my husband's tea without us asking and brought extra napkins. She was very young but very good even with the crowd. The food was fine. Correctly cooked and tasty. The one problem and I don't know what they could do about it, it was very hot inside. Between the grill and the weather, we are having. What a wonderful place for a tasty lunch! We spent the afternoon exploring the adorable downtown of Delphi, and when it was time for lunch went with The Sandwich Shop as it seemed to be hopping. Being lucky enough to grab two counter seats, we were able to watch all the action. Even short a server, the service was friendly and quick. Prices were excellent as was the food. I enjoyed a mushroom swiss made fresh on the grill in front of me, and my husband had the double bacon cheeseburger. We split a small order of chili cheese fries. Everything was fresh, perfectly prepared and tasted delicious. We didn't leave a bite behind! I'll be suggesting this spot to anyone headed to or through Delphi! read more

We moved to Delphi a little over a year ago and Wednesday 9/25/2024 was the first time my wife and I made it into the Sandwich Shop. It was busy at lunch time with practically every seat of the small dining room filled, but we were able to grab a table as someone else was leaving. The staff was quick to get the table cleaned and reset for us to sit down and enjoy our lunch. My wife ordered the double mushroom and Swiss burger and I ordered a grilled cheese and a chocolate shake, we shared a 1/2 order of the fries loaded with nacho cheese and bacon. The 1/2 order was more than enough for two of us to share so it was definitely worth the price. The milkshake was served in the ice cold metal mixing cup which only added to it's deliciousness. It's definitely got that diner vibe with the counter seating and the grill in the middle of the room. The menu is a nice collection of burgers and sandwiches and the prices are more than reasonable in today's economy. The staff was pleasant and helpful even though they were busy with the lunch rush and the food was delicious. read more

The Sandwich Shop in Delphi, Indiana serves a Texas BLT that is truly memorable. I can't believe I'm saying that, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo, bread, sounds pretty ordinary but theirs is not. Best BLT I have every had! They offer a different fruit pie daily so if you enjoy sweets to finish your meal, they have that covered. Having grown up in Indiana, I find myself occasionally reminiscing of days gone by. Well, lately I've been craving an Indiana staple that is incredibly, yet surprisingly, difficult to find outside of my home state. The fried tenderloin sandwich. This sandwich is as distinctly Indiana as is the Old Oaken Bucket rivalry between Purdue and IU. It is a simple sandwich that Hoosiers have made their own since it was introduced to them by German settlers. My weekend back home in Indiana required that I get a tenderloin sandwich. My buddy mentioned The Sandwich Shop and I figured they'd be able to scratch the itch. Oh boy did they ever. I am used to a tenderloin that is hugely bigger than the bun, yet thin. This one was thicker, but with less diameter. Fried to a golden brown, it was juicy and delicious. My first bite put me into a brief trancelike state with an audible mmmmmmm being uttered from my full mouth. My airline ticket cost $300, but this sandwich provided me a free trip down memory lane. So this is one of my favorite places for hamburgers. We have always had good service and food. But today. I will say they dropped the ball. We pulled up to the curbside and ordered curbside service. The girl taking order was not at all into Taking the order. She said it would take 30 minutes for a double cheese burger and fries. Ok Friday nights r busy. But I told her we r already outside waiting. 35 minutes from call I decide to go in since they haven't come out yet and check on order. The girl who took order ( in a Kettering college sweatshirt) asked if I had an order. I said yes. I ordered 30 minutes ago. She looked over at a bag and grabbed it. I said how long as this been sitting here? She said Maybe five minutes. I asked why didn't U bring it out? I got no answer. Then got to car and fries were cold. When I told her she said "ya they get cold fast". She could care less. I hope she doesn't treat everyone like she did me. Manager needs to know. Stopped in with some friends before going to a concert at the Opera House. My wife and I both ordered the tenderloin sandwiches and got an order of onion rings to share. The tenderloins were slightly larger than the buns were pretty good size. They were also thicker than normal and coated in a delicious coating. There was an ample amount of onion rings of various sizes. We both enjoyed our food and Josiah was a great server. We have talked about going back just to try something else. read more
