    a table of breakfast foods

Stopped in for dinner last night, and I'm always super impressed. The service here is always great, and the price is something you can't beat. Our waitress was amazing. She was super nice and very attentive. Everything came out hot, and our drinks never went dry. We got lots of different things, pancakes , pancakes with chocolate bits, french toast ,eggs over easy scrambled, bacon , sausage and mash potatoes. Everything was amazing ! It reminds me of being little and eating good home cooked food. It's a great place, so be sure to stop in some time

This was my first time going to the West Side Diner. The food is much cheaper than most sit down breakfast restaurants in the West Lafayette area. The portions are also large. All the food tasted great but the biscuits and gravy came out looking questionable. It was still very good! I recommend coming here if you want a quality homemade tasting breakfast that won't break the bank!

Another good breakfast spot in West Lafayette. More diner type of feel, service was fine, you pay up at the bar and there is usually a wait to get seated. Parking is in a small lot. Food was good I didn't have any complaints other then my pancake and my husband's biscuits & gravy came out way late, nothing to rave about but also not disappointed at all.

This is the biggest cinnamon roll I've ever had honestly. It was so soft and delicious. I got it as takeout and the icing came separately so I got to add it to my taste. I loved eating it so much. I will say that when we went there to pick up our order, it was ridiculously busy and we had to wait so long to get our food and we didn't order much so just be prepared for a wait. There is a place to sit and wait but it felt like people were walking around everywhere. I didn't really feel like the service was too considerate but the food is good. I also get the biscuits and gravy from here and find them so delicious.

My only trip to WD was for breakfast on a very busy Sunday morning. The facility is small. The tables are squeezed together tightly. Unfortunately I sat in what ended up being a high traffic area for everyone. So my chair and coat were constantly being bumped. On top of that the dinner is very loud. You won't find a relaxing meal here. I also found it very odd that people had to enter in behind the counter area to access the restroom. Obviously layout in this dinner could be improved. That said...the meal was pretty good! The menu is decent size. There was enough of the usual breakfast items to pick. I had the corned beef hash and eggs plus a one biscuit side of gravy. The hash was very good - better than most places. The hash didn't have a strong corned beef flavor. However it was cooked to perfection - slight crisp on the edges. I added plenty of Tabasco sauce which cane standard at the table. The gravy was a bit bland. I had to spice up with a lot of pepper. The biscuit was split and "smashed" to the plate. I've never had a biscuit that was so thin. That created a little bit of a tough texture to cut - just odd. I had the sour dough toast which was a bit dry. I had hoped that it was made fresh on site. I don't think it was since it didn't have a fresh and moist flavor. My wife said her English muffin was probably the best she has had (fresh) at a dinner. I was impressed by the POS system used to take and process our order. Very easy to do which created an Informative and fast check out. I was also impressed by the team working here. I saw a lot of teenagers and 20 somethings working. Very few older adults. I assume this is a family business. If so...they did an excellent job at hiring and training good employees. Our waitress was very attentive as she could be on a busy day. There was a lot of staff on hand to handle the rush. I was most impressed with the bus boy who wiped the crumbs from the table into his hand instead of onto the floor. This young man frequently washed his hands throughout the shift (as the sink was in view of the whole dining room). I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a fast paced dinner experience.

We were in town for a wedding and decided to get breakfast at Westside Dinner. On a Saturday around 9:30 we were seated immediately. The service was great and the food was delicious. Serving sizes were wonderful and we had a wonderful visit.

Waiting for our food for too long. I don't know how hard it is to cook some eggs and pancakes. Waited 40 minutes for the plates to come out.

Triple XXX root beer was king of the hill back when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's. Damn…read morefine root beer, too! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise that there was but one Triple XXX restaurant that remained open, carrying the torch (as it were) for that great root beer! So on a nice and humid Saturday, me, hubby, and our little Puppy hopped in the car for a 2+ hr drive to West Lafayette IN for lunch! Of course - we got there - an old-style-diner-like building perched on a hill close to Perdue University in West Lafayette! We were seated in the outdoor "full service" tented section of the restaurant (covered) and perused the menu. After ordering the obligatory Triple XXX root beer (but of course - which came with free refills) we turned to the menu! Hubby ordered the Barney Burger - a 1/4 lb chop steak burger with cheese and grilled onions - as fyi, no burger comes with condiments- you get to "dress your own the way you like it" with condi's on the table. I ordered the Bernie Flowers All-Pro - a 1/4 lb chop steak with lettuce, tomato, onion (which I held) and Miracle Whip (yes!) on a toasty sesame bun. We both got curly fries (which were yummy, btw). Ok- first thoughts- the burgers - while fresh- were a bit dry. Hmm. The lettuce on my Bernie was a nice, crisp, and cold leaf. Yes! The tomato was freshly sliced and - honestly- looked like one I'd cut at home. Sweet! So why the 4 stars - I mentioned the meat was dry? Oh my. Yes, that's the sole demerit. But props to the fries and the awesome Root Beer! We enjoyed it - and just in the nick of time. No sooner did we finish up than a severe thunderstorm rolled into town! So we skedaddled to the car, hopped in, and drove thru drenching rain, super strong winds, some light hail - until we got outta Indiana on our way back to Illinois. Would we come again? Of course! Gotta support places like this-they're an important part of Americana! Check it out yourself and enjoy- as we did!

This time I got a burger and root beer. This isn't fancy food, this is country cooking at it's finest. The root beer is amazing. I should have asked about a root beer float, next time. You walk it and sit where ever you can. It it a long counter that wraps around and the wait staff walk inside it. The fries are yummy, and the burger was perfect for what I needed a solid meal since I hadn't eaten in almost 9 hours. Yep sounds like a personal problem. But hey at least the food here has been perfect both times. Maybe next time I will buy a shirt or at least some root beers to go with me. My burger was a true knife and fork meal. At least I am too old to be wearing my chili all over my beard and shirt. Highly recommend if in the area and it is only 5 miles off the interstate. Drive in and enjoy a yummy meal.

Pleasant staff greeted us upon arrival and the genial vibe continued throughout our meal. Props to Paige for great service during an obviously busy Saturday morning. To my dismay, they arrived completely overcooked and unappetizingly brown. To add insult to injury, my toast was burnt to a crisp, nearly charred to a shadow of what it should have been. When I pointed this out to the waitress, her nonchalant response was, "It's kind of burnt," as if there are acceptable levels of burn. In my opinion, when the toast is predominantly black, it clearly falls into the category of "burnt." The overall quality of the meal was abysmal, and it was evident that the staff couldn't have cared less about my experience. While I was not charged for the meal, I wouldn't have paid for it even if I had to. There's simply no way I could bring myself to eat here again. Curiously, my husband ordered a similar omelette, but his came out perfectly yellow and appetizing, along with toast that was actually edible. This made me wonder if my request not to burn my food inadvertently insulted the cook, leading to my meal being intentionally scorched. After sending the dish back, I received not a word of apology or even an offer to prepare something else. It was a complete lack of customer service. This review, without a doubt, has to be the most negative I've ever written. Normally, I refrain from posting bad reviews because I understand that everyone can have an off day. If a restaurant attempts to rectify their mistakes, I tend to be forgiving. But in this case, the food was nothing short of garbage on a plate, and the indifference from the staff was glaring.
