The most quaint coffee shop. Located on Wabash Ave., it has the best coffee and tea options I've experienced yet. The service is always spot on and the prices are fair. I enjoy the interesting decor inside, and the ambiance. There is live music sometimes. I also enjoy the games left around on tables. If I had something bad to say, I would have to say that the hours tend to not be as listed. They may be open on a Saturday but be closed on a Thursday. They are never open on Mondays. read more

How is it that I have never been to the spot before! It's not only quaint and spacious but also very inviting. The owner and his daughter are super sweet and take the time to talk to their customers. Ordered a grilled egg sandwich with hash browns and it was delicious. Ate every last bite and my latte was the perfect drink, not too sweet and It has a homemade vanilla syrup. Plenty of seating and a couple of different rooms set up with different lighting and some natural lighting coming in. There is parking available along the street. There are a few outlets available for those that want to come and do some work away from home. I didn't see an accessible ramp to get in, so there are stairs for the entrance. This cafe is bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Sometimes bands come and play on the stage and are hosted by church groups. Such a cute place! And even with all the social distancing measures taken there is still TONS of seating! I ordered an iced honeysuckle latte and my husband got their sacred hippie. Both were soooo delicious! The honeysuckle latte had the perfect amount of sweetness with a light honey taste and lovely hone ysuckle aftertaste. The sacred hippie is the sweet version of a dirty chai. It had whipped cream with a caramel drizzle and toffee sprinkled on top. The barista described it as "dessert in a cup" and boy was she spot on. If you like a little coffee with your cream and sugar then this is the drink for you, but if you take your coffee black/unsweetened then maybe order something else. Although I only stopped in for a plain cup of coffee, I really enjoyed my visit with the manager (owner?) of the place. Located in an old church, the husband and wife team that run the place had things running smoothly. I ordered a black drip coffee and had a choice of types, going for the Ethiopian coffee. I love when a coffee is hot, but drinkable right away. I refuse to give 5 stars to a place that intentionally tries to scald my palate or make me wait 20 minutes to make it drinkable. This place was perfect like I make at home. And with the cold temperatures outside, I appreciated that I could get the warmth inside me as soon as possible! There is a Christian theme to the setting, but other than overhearing some discussions about theology at some of the tables, nobody tried to force their opinions on me. I was in town hunting down some public art and on the side of Sacred Grounds was a large mural and on the front, a 3D mural as well. The murals were added in Sept 2018 as part of the Wabash Walls program and the manager was really helpful in directing me towards the locations and "extras" to look for beyond the large pieces. My favorite beverage depot in the area besides the awkward location not on the way to anywhere. Sacred Grounds is my spot in the city, free WIFI making it easy to stretch out in this eclectic reborn urban atmosphere. There's a great menu with original drinks, tasty real foods cooked up not heated up in a box, and really cool staff eager to please and drip an off menu drink as you like. All making good not just trading cash for caffeine but a wonderful reflection on the origins of this place also depicted in the graffiti. The only things missing are a strong selection of deserts like cheesecake nibbles, chocolates, and indulgent blended magic like Grayhouse does with their frozen hot cocoa liquid bliss. I've sampled many things here. The breakfasts are fantastic, wow proper biscuits and gravy! Makes The TripleXXX Diner look like bad Cracker Barrel. The wraps are amazing too. My usual was a Dirty Chai which sent taste buds a tingle and heart to palpitations. Last fall the pumpkin latte was legit pure riches. Lately I've realized Trent is a master: the Atomic Pony, lavender and white cocoa I think it is, when Trent makes it I cannot think of a better brew in the county. As my check-ins shows I might have a problem! It's a bummer we haven't had live shows this year. Shawn McDonald made for the best concert I've been to a few whiles ago because I was 15 feet from the stage and didn't have bleeding ears after. The food is good quality at good prices, the coffee is great (for once a place that does not over roast their beans). Sacred Grounds is a wonderful hidden gem in Lafayette! Sacred Grounds on the outside, looks like an ordinary coffee shop, however when you enter the shop, the store transforms. The store interior is very homy and cozy. There is brick detailing, and many tables to use to study, catch up with a friend or read a book. In addition to a wonderful interior, the coffee itself is delicious. Each beverage is handcrafted, and all of the coffees/drinks are made with care. My personal favorite is the Milky Way, an espresso with milk, and lots of whipped cream. The baristas are always so welcoming and friendly! At most coffee shops, coffee can easily be $4, if not $5. At Sacred Grounds, coffee is reasonably priced! In addition, Sacred Grounds offers a 15% student discount and frequent visitor card. Note: seems like its christian owned from the Christian music (which I happen to be very fond of, im catholic raised) and the design of the tables (the tables seem to have been designed with bible pages see the pictures.) Their coffee was absolutely amazing! I went with a friend to do some homework and catch up a few months back and we had an awesome time. I got the London fog and she got one of their lattes (can't remember the flavor exactly but the actual coffee was great quality). My tea was very good and I felt so fancy the way they served it! The barista and cashier were both very friendly and welcoming of new customers. I will definitely be back in the future. My only complaint is that they need more outlets. I work mostly off of my laptop so we couldn't stay super long or as long as we would have liked to. We may just need to find a different table though!! Also their breakfast sandwich on the croissant was so good paired with the best hash browns I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend!! read more

I wish I found this place sooner. I absolutely love what this place stands for and how great their food and coffee is. They have the best of both worlds. We ordered a grilled cheese and quesadilla and both were extremely delicious, filling, and flavorful. Even though it's a cafe, the food was restaurant quality. They took their time with our coffee making sure it was just right and put in extra effort with the whole process--pouring slowly, decorating with latte art, and bringing it to our table. In other words, I felt like our food and coffee was made with love. I really appreciate the Christian element too; the subtle Bible quotes and crosses made me feel at home. The inside is cozy in general, though I find the ordering side of the place much more aesthetically pleasing than where the couches are (what initially made me unsure of going). I guess in the Midwest everything is slow. I'm used to 3 minutes max on waiting for a latte in Philly. When I arrived at Sacred Grounds there was no line and the woman behind the counter was doing something. The shop is cute but there is a large sitting/gathering room on the right side of the building. There was only one employee and it was around 7:35 when I arrived. It took around 5 minutes for her to finish whatever she was doing behind the counter as I awkwardly stood in the shop. There was no indication of where to stand to queue to order. Finally, she called me over and I ordered a small latte with whole milk. It took another 5 minutes for her to grind beans and make the drink. In between my waiting, another woman came in and grabbed a cup that the cashier had already made. I guess you can order ahead? If you can, I'd definitely recommend it cause it took wayyyy to long to get a coffee and I was cranky. Overall, I won't be back, Nothing too interesting which is too bad cause I love to support small shops. read more

Sacred Grounds is more than coffee. They offer breakfast and lunch, along with snacks. The Sacred Salad is awesome. They use super fresh greens (not from a bag!) and they are generous with the toppings, plus make their own salad dressing. At around $6, it's definitely a better value than Panera just across the river. The atmosphere is relaxing and eclectic. It's a beautiful space with plenty of room. They are passionate about their coffee. I've enjoyed both their mocha and vanilla latte. Make sure to get a punch card. Last but not least, it's a great place to catch a live show. It's an intimate setting to experience music. The Vesper's show was one of the best I can remember, and I'm excited to see them here again in May. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in town! I've been there maybe 5 times now, and have loved it every time. My favorite drink is the chai tea latte, and I love that it comes at a drinkable temperature and I don't have to wait for it to cool for ten minutes. I always bring homework or a book with me, and it's the perfect atmosphere for that-- quiet, cozy, and productive. My only complaint is that there aren't a ton of convenient wall plug-ins, so I'd recommend charging your laptop beforehand, or just be willing to search for a plug-in read more

First time coming here and this place is simply AWESOME! A peaceful place to study as well as enough areas to just relax with someone in deep conversation. There is even a stage in the larger area for entertainment of bands or maybe poetry. The service was superb and the cinnamon/lemon muffin was heaven to my palate! Came here for lunch one Thursday afternoon with a friend. It's tucked away in a neighborhood so parking is not a problem. The building itself is very rustic and provides a very homey vibe. This is a very groovy place. Bright and open, it had easy access (except for a 3-step entrance with sturdy railings) for my 88-year-old mother in law who uses a cane. The breakfast menu was sparse (scrambled eggs, egg burrito, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, and yogurt were the only offerings) but we really enjoyed the flavor of our eggs w mushroom, onion, cheese, and sausage and the biscuits and gravy. We especially liked the coffee, which was tasty (we had a mocha and a peppermint mocha) and we agreed it was better than other mochas we've had elsewhere. The style is "order at the counter" and they bring it to your table. There were some tables of people working w papers and laptops about and other tables with big groups of chatting people. It was quiet (Monday morning at 9:30 between semesters at Purdue) so we were able to enjoy our conversation without struggling to hear each other. The atmosphere was very interesting, with reclaimed items of all types repurposed for the decor. I gave 4 stars because of the narrow menu and also, our food wasn't served hot. I'm sure if we had asked, the pleasant and helpful staff would have taken care of it for us. We weren't excited about our menu choices when we placed our orders but agreed that everything tasted great. So ultimately, we were very happy with our breakfasts. I would definitely return if I wanted a reasonably-priced egg breakfast with excellent coffee and low ambient noise. And, because I'm someone who spends a lot of time sitting in restaurants w my computer, this would be a perfect spot for me to hang out. P.S.
