So good, and a great variety. Lost of customization available. Gluten free, Vegan, whatever. I ordered a gluten free pizza. Probably the best I've had in a long time. Soft crust, good flavor. This cafe was recommended to me as a good place to get some work done. It did not disappoint. It is like a community/church center with a cafe. I had a chocolate chai latte recommended by the counter person. It was surprisingly good. I was not sure what to expect. This cafe has the most seating and workspace I can remember seeing. Order took a very very long time. I placed a mobile order, was exactly on time to pick it up and then had to wait another 15 minutes before it was ready. It was an alright atmosphere so the wait wasn't horrible, but after recieving my pizza I noticed it had like 1/4 of the pizza covered in cheese. Went in for an affogato, stood at the register for about 5min waiting for help with 2 people making boxes for a party I think, one cleaning the back area, one wiping glasses, all just looking at us for a few minutes not saying a thing like they all were hoping someone else was going to move first to help us; oh and another guy coming in with store bought gallon jugs of milk from the store. It was a very weird situation and annoying that we had all these people working and nobody helped us while we just stood there until we asked for help, and the lady wiping glasses finally came over... Terrible We ordered our affogato and the espresso was lacking that punch and was weak in flavor that we are used to getting. The ice cream had chunks of ice bits in it which made it unusually crunchy and at times, tasted watered down. Means someone didn't make the ice cream right. After the awkwardness of not being helped, having to be forced to ask for help while so many workers were just looking at us time to time not offering a thing, having weak espresso and badly made ice cream, this place doesn't warrant our 3 try policy as nothing in our experience left any good impressions. Also, I doubt they would care as the attitude in there was snooty. Hope others have better experiences. read more

My favorite cafe to study! The spice chai is the best chai I've ever had! The pizzas are also so good. It's the perfect place to hang out and study or just come for lunch, dinner and such. They are connected to faith so the parking lot does get busy. There are also limited outlets for you to charge your laptop if needed. Been here twice, and tried both their vegetarian pizza's: shiitake pizza and fig & pear pizza. Both were fantastic (I think I liked the shiitake one a tad more). Service is great, prices are reasonable. Social distancing is in place and all the staff had masks on, which I really appreciated. Hand sanitisers are available, as is disinfectant spray if you want to buy stuff down. 90% of the patrons also had masks on. There is usually a good amount of outside seating available. Also a great place to get some work done or read a book. read more

My date brought me to this café for the first time, and it's just two blocks from my place, yet I had no idea it was here. It's a real hidden gem in West Lafayette. The atmosphere is cozy with stylish decor and the staff are so friendly. I had one of the best chicken sandwiches of my life! Espresso machine was broken during my recent trip, have been here only three times over the years since there are many better java spots to jump at between me and Cafe Lot, like Sacred Grounds, The Eleventh House, Star City, and Vienna. From my other visits, Cafe Literato's coffee is plastic bottle syrup heavy, a bummer a local chain of restaurants doesn't bother with their own latte ingredients. I thought I'd get around to sampling their acclaimed pizzas over the years, heard many good things which despite the fierce Italian pie competition in this city, Pizza Uncommon, Mad Mushroom, and Jets, can still recommend regardless based on many happy mouths telling me so. Had to go for spiced Chai since the coffee wasn't flowing, again enjoyed this friendly and inviting atmosphere with extensive room and rooms for groups, relaxing nooks, easily accommodating large troops, and I got comfortable but noticed few outlets in my area. What a weird setup to offer so much space and rather quick wifi but no USB or outlets in sight, also odd the password is printed on receipts which is asking for paper waste and smug attitude towards none paying slicks. Another quirk, they don't reduce waste with dine in reusable ware or accept a brought in bottle, sad to see plastic adding to pollution with old fashioned systems here. I did find the chai tasty enough, too sweet as usual, whipped cream topping stood out as far more rich and decadent than others do. I spent nearly a good two hours here working and saw no hold to a steady steam of pizza people and couples sharing time. It is a great location at the top quieter end of campus near the golf courses. I'd sure like to see the espresso machine fixed, a rewards program added, and plastic removed as much as possible to boost this fine establishment's image. read more

I'm not quite sure how to describe the location of where this restaurant is at because I'm not to familiar with the Lafayette area. However it seemed like this restaurant was somewhat attached to a community center, play park, apartment, study area, and church. There is plenty of parking and areas to sit outside which was nice, especially in the summer months. The menu isn't too crazy big so it won't make it too difficult to choose what you want to eat. However I would recommend the mushroom pizza as it is refreshing and light tasting as there isn't red sauce on it. White sauce pizzas are one of my favorites and this little cafe did not disappoint. I shared this pizza and a Caesar salad with one person and it was plenty of food for a lunch time meal. We even had some pizza left over. The fresh greens on top of the pizza added such a nice touch which was wonderful. There wasn't anything special about the salad, I would just say it tasted pretty classic. But it was good that is for sure. I also noticed the huge study area that is attached to this Café which was closed at the moment due to COVID19 however I can imagine that this is a hot place to study because there were a lot of places to sit and even private room areas for silent study. read more

Had a latte and the Harvest Pizza special- a wood fired pizza special with butternut squash, pork, sage, and onions. 10/10. This is probably my favorite coffee shop in West Lafayette. It has a huge breakfast, lunch, and coffee menu. Staff is friendly and quick, and the general atmosphere is very calm and welcoming. I had an almond milk latte, which was hot and tasty. Coffee is high quality. I also had a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. Egg was cooked well but under seasoned. The bacon was cooked perfectly, and the everything beagle it came on was tasty. Cafe Literato is attached to the Faith West Community Center but is independently operated. In addition to the barista coffee items, you can also order sandwiches and brick oven pizza. I ordered an almond milk vanilla latte that was served in a ceramic mug. That is definitely a nice touch! There is ample seating in the nicely decorated cafe. You can also take a short walk to the community center where there is soft seating areas to sit and sip your coffee. I had a wonderful experience here and I should make it across the river to the west side more often. read more

Place was a little hard to find, it's just north of where Smitty's used to be. It's in a complex with a church, a school, and apartments. Lots of room to spread out, or even go into another room altogether. We were here during a very slow time so service was fast, but our pizzas were missing the torn basil. We got a pile from the kitchen and all was good. They had some specialty sodas, a pretty good college type menu, and the decor was kind of a cross between steampunk and industrial modern. I am sure this place is busy when school's in session. We'll try to visit again next time in town. read more

I would have liked to say comfy place to work too, but they have limited comfortable seating. Wifi was good. I got the almond milk latte and a Mediterrano Pizza (based on employee recommendation as the best pizza they have - see picture). I felt that both the latte and the pizza were just mediocre. Nothing to keep coming back for. I've heard their panini's are good, but that will have to be a future review. Prices would have been reasonable if the food tasted a little better. I had the Italian grinder which was excellent, although plan to unhinge your jaw to get it in your mouth... and the broccoli salad is . Soooo glad it had no bacon! Also glad to see it seems the quality hasn't gone down since Covid. If I had to provide an accurate critique, I wish the kid taking my order knew the menu better and that they warmed the bread a bit. It's really good rustic bread but is kinda tough on the roof of the mouth. I also prefer the cured meats a little warmer, at least room temp. So maybe let this one sit in the oven for a min? Lastly, I'm from this area and this family knows better than to make olive tapenade with lye-ripened olives.
