A couple of my friends wanted to try this restaurant today so we gave it a go. 830 AM on a Friday and there were no customers. The waitress saw us come in and was very pleasant and asked us to sit anywhere except for corner booth which is for parties of 5+. Other reviewers mentioned a flea market setting vibe. I concur. That said, much of the flea market decor looks extremely old coupled with water damaged ceiling tiles makes the restaurant feel unsanitary. The booth we chose had bad springs in seat (lumpy). I bet this was a fun establishment in the past! Needs new ceiling tiles and update to decor to feel more welcoming. The exterior window signs need updated as they are fading/aging. Take Cash!! The breakfast was fine. Nothing special. Service was great. The ladies were friendly and efficient. My issue and hard to imagine as a business owner and manager in 2025. It cost me a $3 ATM fee and a $1.75 service fee. So my $13.74 breakfast plus my $3 tip and fees came to $21.94. Did not see that coming. I'm not mad. It's how you choose to run your business. Worst dining experience ever. From the moment our party walked in (4), we were greeted by one waitress running around, working every table. The only available tables were covered in trash and after waiting for it to be cleaned, we were "offered" seats at the bar. Although the bar was cramped and the seats were rock hard, we were entertained during the very long wait for service by the sounds of our server being verbally abused by an older female co-worker. I ordered a western omelette, and have never had a bad experience with that at any other restaurant. So imagine my surprise when I cut into it to find celery and radishes inside. The omelet was less western, and more "what do we need to get rid of". Yuck! Stopped into Sunrise Diner this morning for a quaint reunion with some friends hoping to enjoy some delicious brunch but was instead we were highly disappointed. Our first red flag should have been the "cash only" wrinkled sign on the door. What is this? The 18th century? Anyways, the singular waitress, a woman with an attitude but a nice bubble braid hairstyle, encouraged us to "find a seat if it's clean I guess". Hesitant, but hopeful we sat down and were given menus. When a friend kindly asked for a sprite with no ice, she was met with eyes of serious judgment by our waitress. I can only hope my friend will recover. Sprite-less, and hurt, we awaited our food which was the real kicker. When one requests a bacon omelette, they can only hope the bacon can be chopped. A more appropriate name for whatever my friend received is an 'egg blanket with a bacon surprise inside!'. if you have the choice not to go here. don't go here. my sunday special fried chicken platter was not only a disappointment it was ice cold in the middle. when i say ice cold, i mean ice cold. ice cold chicken is not something i personally fancy. they ended up taking the chicken back to the kitchen and fried it again. the chicken that i bit into was put back into the deep fryer which i assume is used to fry food for other people. i understand the the heat kills bacteria and germs but that's just nasty. service was awful as we were rushed to order our food because they had special hours that day that wasn't posted anywhere online. ambiance was fine but my friends fork was dirty so might want to consider that. read more

Tried to go to breakfast here today. We saw the kinda lackluster reviews but thought it was worth a shot since we were close by. When we walked in, it was like we'd been transported to the winld west: The first thing we heard was "GeT OUT!" then saw a young man scramble to grab his girlfriends (sisters?) hand. The young man was in a tiff, chest puffed and hackles raised "I want everyone to know that she quit because this guy hires girls to touch in back! He's a PERVERT!" We were stunned. Wtf was going on. A lady came from behind the counter who we mistakenly thought was about to apologize to us or something... idk... but she shuffled the young man out the door and walked away. The place was packed so the collective shocked silence was heavy. A cursory glance around the establishment showed that none of the patrons had food or even drinks. We almost stayed for the stories but it was easier to eat breakfast in a place that didn't whistle Clint Eastwood jingles as soon as the door closed. read more

I had breakfast here this morning. I had a western omelette (no cheese) with a side of hash browns. I had black coffee to drink. The omelette was the best omelette I have had in as long as I can remember. It was also huge. The hash browns were perfect too. I didn't even need to add ketchup. My coffee was good and they never let my cup get emptied. Everything you want in a diner. They had a pretty interesting interior too. There were old newspaper headlines, old cameras, and old music albums on the way. I would recommend checking them out if you are looking for a diner. read more

Good luck at this place. Although it was Sunday noon only a few tables were occupied with dirty dishes at all the other tables. I took one of the dirty tables and waited over ten minutes for the three person stalk to finish conversing around the soda machine. Finally got my table cleaned and order placed. Waited nearly 40 minutes for my food to come out Luke warm. The staff was apparently a three generation female team. The entire time was spent by the mid generation direction the other two on what needed to be done and not in the nicest of tones as they could be heard well above the volume of the rest of the establishment. I should have known things would go downhill when the shopping cart of "stuff" showed up outside the front door. The loud waitress needed to come over to wake the shopping cart person up several times as they were waiting on their food. Overall not a good Sunday brunch experience. How can you screw up breakfast? Well Sunrise Diner will show you every possible way. My hash browns were supposed to be well done with cheese and onion...they arrived with a slice of American cheese and somewhat cooked. I looked at my friends order of basic hash browns...YUCK! They didn't even look cooked and she side they were cold a rubbery. My sausage patties were served ice cold in the middle and just tasted like unseasoned ground beef. I ordered a veggie omelet and it was just a pile of vegetables with eggs on top- I'm not exaggerating. Our server was friendly but the service was slow. Many customers came and went before us. Today I decided to get lunch at what WAS one of my favorite lunch spots. I had a waitress who was "blonde", in her late 60's, and had a nasty attitude (who also had no name tag and never said her name). She was beyond disrespectful, did not help me and told me to straight up leave after being there for maybe an hour. I ordered a full meal and a drink and possibly was going to get dessert before she so rudely told me to leave. Why was I asked this? So she could "turn tables" when there was only one other couple in the store. I hope the Sunrise Diner hires people that match their name in the future, because of their current gloomy staff member, they have one less customer. Stopped in, on our way to Missouri from Ohio. Pleasantly surprised with the old school diner that you can't hardly find anymore. Prices are very good for a great breakfast. It was cool to see the photos, old cameras and memorabilia on the walls. We seen a couple of posts about being understaffed. My opinion is "ya who isn't, seems like no one wants to work anymore". The Sunrise Diner is easily the worst food experience Ive ever had. I walked in with six other soon to be victims. We sat down at a dirty table that looked like it had been dragged out of a dump yard. A rotund lady like human came to our table ready to take orders. We quickly got our drinks and I ordered a water. It's hard to mess up water but somehow this "establishment" found a way. A good 20-25 minutes later this waitress came back to take our orders. I requested the pancaked and bacon thinking it's an easy thing to cook. After a good 2 hour wait this "so called" food arrived. I tried my best to gobble up the inedible food. The bacon was purple and rubber while the pancakes were very subpar. I later threw up the bacon. If I had a choice the sunrise diner would be shut down immediately and all the staff would go to prison for attempted murder. I would rather eat a dead rat. Good day. read more
