Chopped steak with eggs and hashbrowns.
Dave L.

Nothing fancy; just your straightforward local dining establishment. Just the kind my group was looking for. We were passing through the area and wanted a good breakfast. Yelp helped point the way. Upon entering the restaurant, a whiteboard showed the daily specials. We knew we were in the right place. I ordered the chopped steak with eggs. It was very tender and was cooked as ordered. The eggs were also perfectly cooked. I enjoyed my meal and got to sample some great bacon off my partner's plate. I also tried a bite of her pancake. It was very good. Everyone in our party was satisfied with their order. Aside from lacking gluten free choices, the menu offered something for everyone at reasonable prices. Our waitress (Melissa) was attentive and took good care of our group. It was clear to see that many locals made the restaurant a regular stop. If I was in the area, I'd stop in for another breakfast.

They are doing it right here for sure! Straight forward breakfast with fair prices and fantastic service. Our coffee cups never were never more than half empty! Served piping hot. It was solid and no frills. I had a feta omelette with wheat toast and extra crispy hash browns It came out perfectly. It was a nice sized portion that filled the plate. Before we left we chatted up one of the servers who gave us her favorite dish and other recommendations. We plan on coming back for sure.

I just love seeing a local business busy. I come here about once a month or every other. The servers are so kind, and they kind of help each other out. They have breakfast and lunch items. I definitely need to go for lunch soon. I have only had their chili which was pretty good. It wasn't super chunky, more like a soup, but tasty all the same. My kids love getting the kid pancake and bacon, while I have discovered their omelette. So good. I get the all in one or everything omelette. Nice and fluffy with 4 different veggies and 3 different meats. Their coffee is absolutely amazing too. It doesn't taste "burnt" like a lot of places. I drink about 5 cups when I go! Highly recommend this local Lafayette business

Exquisitely friendly service and simple delicious breakfast! I tried the Meat Lovers Skillet and the Biscuits and Gravy and they were delicious and exactly as they should be. No fancy additions, no fussing around...just good quality food. I will definitely be coming here multiple times on my visit to Lafayette.

The good old-fashioned basic breakfast and family diner, a good menu with great prices and large portions of food. I personally enjoy Tick Tock more for their impressively original menu and Town & Gown for superior quality at good prices however these guys do the diner spot on. Us three guys enjoyed breakfast here sampling quite a broad section of steak and eggs, omelets, and pancakes. There wasn't anything impressive about the food in fact the steak didn't really have any flavors at all which was surprising. A bit of my eggs were not done at all but still completely uncooked and clear. We all managed to finish our food which is a good sign but could recommend some culture and chef touch added in the cooking process.

Great morning breakfast place! I had the western skillet and it was delivered hot to the table. My coffee cup never got low and the staff was very attentive. A mix of booths and tables fill this small storefront which provides a variety of seating options. Check it out if you're around!

I'm done with Joe's. Loved the old location. New location is way too bright and loud. No cozy diner feel at all. Sat at a table for 20 mins after receiving my drink before I left because no one ever came to take my order. There were only three other tables at the time. There are other better diners in town.

Joe's Pancake House recently opened in the former Great Wall location, next to Hardees. I have noticed the parking lot of this breakfast and lunch place has been crowded. On the weekends, groups of people gather by the front door greeting each other. This morning I had some spare time so I decided to check it out. The interior is clean and bright; it appears they didn't have to do much remodeling after the previous tenant (another Chinese restaurant), even leaving a large Chinese framed print hanging in the wait station. The menu is pretty extensive, with the usual breakfast offerings including pancakes with various toppings, burgers and sandwiches (including a Monte Christo), salads, and desserts. The pricing appears to be comparable to the area, along with a seniors and childrens menu. The dining room was pretty crowded with customers; servers were circulating topping off coffee and drinks. I ordered my usual breakfast, corned beef hash and eggs (this time sunny-side up). The menu states the corned beef hash is made in-house, and had a nice flavor. The hash browns were the way I make them at home, with par-boiled potatoes. Overall, a tasty meal. My only criticism would be the pancake selection. Why call yourself a pancake house without adding some things like a Dutch baby, crepes, aebleskivers, etc?

During that time, the couple at the table next to us got up and walked out after also receiving no service. We finally did the same. Seven people walked out within minutes of each other, and no one even seemed to notice or care. We completely understand being busy or short-staffed, but acknowledging customers takes seconds. We weren't expecting immediate service--we were simply expecting to be recognized after being seated. We never had the opportunity to order a single drink or bite of food. Unfortunately, we can't review the food because the lack of service made it impossible to stay long enough to try it. Extremely disappointing experience.

I had a float and then a regular root beer later and while I DO love a good float (and this was good), Triple XXX's root beer is so good it deserves to be drunk itself. I got the famous Purvis, the burger with the peanut butter. It was...interesting. I took a bite and thought "yup; that's peanut butter". It weirdly worked? And let me tell you, these prices are GREAT. If you pay cash, you can avoid the ~$3 credit card charge but even with that, prices are AMAZING. Wonderful spot, I'll pass by every time I have an excuse.

TLDR: I'd return but I'd order differently…read more Service was very friendly and the excellent root beer flowed freely. Atmosphere is old time lunch counter with far too many pictures and posters from DDD. The food wasn't bad. The pork tenderloin sandwich was good as were the fries. I've got reservations about the Dean Purvis burger, though. It's a signature burger but as much as I believe that peanut butter is a blessing from above, it adds absolutely nothing to a cheeseburger. The counterman enthusiastically recommended adding bacon to the burger. I went for it but again, it really added nothing beyond an upcharge. The beef itself though wasn't bad at all. The onion rings were also not worth the addition. They're very much low end standard food distributor issue and distinctly 'meh.' I watched a frostie being made. It's something like an inverse root beer float, a lot of ice cream with a small amount of root beer. The number of scoops of ice cream that went into that blender was positively insane. So yeah, I'd go back but I'd order a tenderloin, a more basic burger, or something from the breakfast menu.

I realize that referencing Star Search is some washed unc behavior, so forgive me. You probably don't even know what I'm talking about. But let's focus on the fact that I really want to give this place four stars, and so I did, because Yelp doesn't allow fractions, so I rounded up. But Teays is getting four stars with a couple of caveats. We'll just get it out of the way. I don't know if the burgers always taste like nothing, but we got two burgers today (the Burnworth Burger and the cheeseburger on the kids' menu), and both reportedly tasted "weird" and like "nothing." I didn't believe it until I tasted the burgers, and yep, nothing. Imagine if you suddenly got Covid and lost your sense of smell and taste. That's what the burgers tasted like, despite the Burnworth Burger having things like hatch chilis and red pepper aioli on it. Very weird! Maybe we just visited at an off time when the cook forgot to season the burger patties. Who knows. My meal, however, was great. I got the pulled pork sandwich, and the pork was so tender and flavorful, it almost didn't even need the small cup of barbecue sauce that it came with. It also came with some coleslaw and a choice of a side. (I chose fries.) I also got a pint of the Trauma Llama Ding Dong, which is a hazy IPA. It was very good! I do love a good IPA, and this one is made by Teays. This is a kid-friendly brewery, with lots of seating outside. Inside, there's a big bar for adults, but also lots of seating for groups and families. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for parents who want a place to get a beer and also relax because their kids are more than welcome.
