Such an amazing place! Came here for dinner and the server was sooo sweet and attentive. We started with the dumplings in chili oil which were delicious. I got the beef soup noodles and the beef literally melted in my mouth. My boyfriend got the drunken noodles and that was equally as amazing. Super huge portions and decent prices too. The waiter was not friendly didn't welcome didn't smile. First Impressions- found this spot on yelp with the hubby and spontaneously changed our minds from take out to eating out. Glad we did because this spot is super cute. Loved this place. Great for vegetarians. We ordered the sizzling noodles with chili oil and all the vegetarian dim sum options and the minion bao ofcourse. All of them were great. The only item that was just ok was the chongqing spicy chicken, it was alright but not something i would order again. It is little pieces of fried chicken with loads of fried chillies comes with a side rice, but overall didnt work well for our group. We got a whole bunch of things, but my favorites were the apple sidra (this was basically like an apple soda) and the Stir-Fried Rice Noodles with Petai (this was essentially a beef chow fun). Everything else was kind of mid. The braised beef noodle soup was too salty and the stir fried Chinese chives with pork was NOT at all like what I expected we'd get lol. The latter probably would've been better paired with white rice, which my friend took leftovers home to probably pair it with. Service was really good, but overall I don't see myself coming here often. Perhaps I would order the stir fried rice noodles for online delivery, but not sure I would come back unless maybe my Chinese parents were visiting and I needed a close ish Chinese restaurant lol. Very nice interior with an open kitchen and a single wall of booth and chair seating and a few high tables and normal tables. I got their Gold medal beer which was a decent lager. Golden and light, on the hoppier side. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be this way but the pour looked terrible to me. 3 inch foam in an already short glass. :/ For food I got the pork dumplings and Ma jiang mian noodles (come cold). The dumplings had very very good flavor. Ginger pork, shallots with the vinegar was very nice. A little doughy but great flavor, very thick crispy crust. The ma jiang main noodles came with a mild nutty sauce and paired well with the cold noodles. The noodles were firm and springy. It matched the firm carrots. Overall though the dish could have been salted better though. The service was pretty good, but with this go- I can't rate this place 4-stars as a good place you should go back to. How did we not come here EARLIER?! It's so good. It has this casual vibe to it, but the food is so well done it also seems like a "classy" place too. It's hard to mix those two together and find the right balance. We had the dan-dan noodles, the savory scallion pancakes--could not stop eating them. Also, have been feeling a little under the weather, and that chicken soup is probably the best chicken soup I've had. I will definitely be coming back, I love about 20 blocks away, but it's worth the walk! Very impressed. Service was fast, and friendly. Food came out within minutes. This is a response to Gaven, the owner, who replied to my review saying the mushrooms are supposed to be whole and are cooked for 6 hours: don't assume your customers don't cook just because they ordered from you one time. I cook with dried mushrooms all the time, and you have to soak them and then cook them. The mushrooms in your soup were 3" wide, hard, and tasted dry, like someone had thrown them in for 20 minutes. Maybe just find out what happened (maybe there were no more mushrooms in that batch of soup?) instead of telling me that cutting the mushrooms is not done. (Why were they inedible without cutting?) I stumbled by this place one night for dinner and was pleasantly surprised! The service is great and the staff are very friendly. The portion sizes are rather large so expect to have left overs or eat family style. The eggplant was average, it was good but I wouldn't order it again. wow, I was actually really impressed by this restaurant! It's a pretty small Chinese restaurant close to Columbia University and it's great! I would highly recommend if you're looking for some northern Chinese cuisine. I got the chicken noodle soup with the Chinese medicine in it, and I felt immediately better with a slight cold I had that day. The other appetizers including the dumplings and cucumber on the appetizer menu, looked really really great, and I will definitely come back. The service was really fast and attentive. The cucumbers didn't hold onto much of the flavor of the marinade. I was dipping it after every bite. They have Lao Gan Ma's crispy chili at the tables. While I absolutely love this chili, would have been cool if they had their own in-house chili. The interior is cute. I love the plants they have strung up on the lights and how the kitchen is open. Dishes are bland and have either been prepared days in advance or are bulk bought from Chinese food distributors. Bland The cold marinated beef slices look gross - they have tendons and gristle, are freezing cold because they just came out of container in a fridge. The also appear dark grey. Taste is ok but absolutely not restaurant standard. Mass made The dumplings are clearly not made there and are bulk bought from a distributor. You can tell because they're all the same shape and have a vague taste of disinfectant/preservatives when you bite in to them after they've been microwaved (aka "steamed"). Never again. read more

My server told me the food is delivered to the tables quick, and it was. Everything was cooked to order and was very fresh. Interior is dark but not overwhelming. The server consistently checked on my table and provided water refills throughout my visit. The bathroom is in the corner of the dining room, so if you are eating near it you can hear it flush after being used. read more

Broth had no color or seasoning, no vegetable toppings, the oxtail was meager with hardly any meat. Just noodles, a few bones and 2 big root vegetables that tasted and had the texture of something really old, as if they found some turnips somewhere and added them in for good measure. I went with my dad and we shared huge pork dumplings that were some of the best I've had, and a dry spicy beef noodle w mashed potatoes on top (sounds weird but surprisingly good).
