We're pretty fortunate to live somewhere that even The laziest of ice cream stores can settle on Umpqua or a Tillamook. However I always have mad respect for anyone who makes their own. I got the Oregon Trail. I feel like hazelnuts are an underused ingredient elsewhere. Big chunks of em with the blackberry swirl in chocolate ice cream. I'm in love. The boy got the blue moon. Very cute shop with lots of ice cream options and other sweets. Great indoor and outdoor area for seating. We got a couple different flavor ice creams and a truffle and everything was good. A family favorite for dessert in Sisters, quirks and all. There are no shortage of places to get dessert in town. The classic Sno Cap for soft serve, the newcomer, Cuppa Yo, for frozen yogurt and Ali's, the other choice for ice cream, across the street. BJ's has been in Sisters for a few years, but it feels like longer since the signage references their first location in Florence that opened in 1978. They have a great selection of Oregon-influenced flavors like the Oregon Trail (my personal favorite) and Marionberry, and have generous scoops. It is old-fashioned ice cream, made with no chemicals and no colors. On the downside, they tend to feel understaffed and so the wait can be longer than I'd like. But, there is plenty to see while you wait. They always have a bunch of other random items for sale in the store from herbal teas to Red Bull infused drinks, accompanied by funny signs. I personally wish they had more indoor seating and continued the old school ice cream parlor theme throughout the space. I'm always amused by the amount of blinged out accessories for sale, but never see anyone shopping in that area. Great location in the center of town and good old school ice cream. I wish Yelp and/or the owner, a real dynamo and pleasant woman, would get the listing corrected. It is no longer BJ's. The ice cream is however made by BJ's in Florence. It really doesn't matter as it is outstanding ice cream served by very sweet people. It is no doubt the best ice cream in Oregon. It is a bit more than ice cream too. Some really super pastries. But of course most everybody goes for the awesome ice cream. The store setting is very appropriate to an old-fashioned ice cream shop. Ordinarily I am not a chocolate fan. But I cannot get enough of the Oregon Trail flavor that others have described so adequately. I also dip into pistachio on occasion. There is something for every taste bud I am sure. My buddy often gets the sherbet and raves about it. it is easy to walk right past the store as it is not obvious. Make sure to check it out when you are in Sisters. read more

Nice ice cream place in the quaint town of Sisters, OR. Went there while we were camping in the nearby Deschutes forest. They have a nice long selection of ice creams. Very reasonably priced, and one serving comes with 2 huge scoops so you can basically get two diff. flavors. They had Kahlua flavored ice cream which you don't see usually and that was excellent. Definitely the best ice cream between Bend and Portland with a partial view of the original Sisters Crosswalk. We stopped in Sisters to buy liquor, take a spin through the farmers market, try out the crosswalk and of course get some BJs. We stopped at BJ's last weekend when we saw the line at Sno Cap was BANANAS and I'm really glad we did! There was hardly anyone there and the ice cream was fantastic. Tons of flavors to choose from and I confirmed with one of the girls at the counter that it's all home made. You can really tell, too- the ice cream is bursting with flavor and has a texture that you won't find in commercial ice cream (trust me, I'm sort of a connoisseur...or should I say cone-noisseur?). I tried vanilla bean, coffee, chocolate peanut butter, and some kind of raspberry swirl. The vanilla bean stood out as my favorite with the raspberry coming up last but they were all good. You'll definitely pay a little more than you would at the Sno Cap but on weekends you'll stand around a lot less and I prefer the product at BJ's anyway. Will make this a regular stop! read more

BJ's is a solid choice for some ice cream in Sisters. They have 30+ choices for ice cream. I've tried 4 or so so far and all have been good. Huckleberry and Oregon trail (blackberry, chocolate, and hazlenuts) have been my favorites so far - but I haven't heard anybody complain about any of their flavors yet. The older gentleman that works there is super nice and friendly. The younger ladies were less so but still just fine. Highly recommended! read more

I just found out in the last six months I am highly allergic to coconut this includes coconut oils. I went to BJ's on 101 the north side of Florence two weeks ago, I told the young lady working there that I had allergies to coconut and I need to know what her ice cream base was, she said I was good as long as I didn't eat anything with coconut in it, she even wash the ice cream scooper just to make sure there was not any coconut on it. She was very helpful. Today I went in to buy taffy, and fudge. When I asked the gentleman who was scooping taffy out of the box that it comes in, if he could let me know if they use coconut oil's in their taffy, he said sorry it's not made here he wouldn't know, another person working there said it's on the box. Unfortunately It did have coconut oil's in it. So I asked about the fudge which they say they make there if I could know the ingredients in it, one of the girls that work there took two minutes to look around and said sorry we don't know were to find it. There was three people Working there and only a few customers which only one person was helping them and the other 2 were making taffy bags.It looked like making taffy bags Was more important than customers. So I got to leave without anything because of the lack of customer service from the young staff there. read more
