And image my surprise as I'm walking through the lovey, quaint downtown area of Sisters, and I see a distillery tasting room. The young woman offering tastings was very friendly, knowledgeable, and a joy to be around. I tried some liquors I hadn't had before and purchased some wine, which I didn't know Wild Roots did until the moment I walked into that fine store. In addition to tastings and the ability to purchase bottles, they always make some tasty cocktails. If you're walking around downtown sisters and see this place, stop in and check out their selection.

The REUBEN SANDWICH on toasted marble rye had Swiss cheese, the perfect mound of sauerkraut and thousand island dressing (ask them to go light on the slather) along with a bag of chips and a cookie. Top it off with the beverage of your choice -beer, wine, canned soda, etc.- and you have the perfect lunch or afternoon snack. On our way out we bought a couple pounds of the Smokehouse Jerky (Original, Pepper, & Teriyaki) and two pounds of the Smokehouse bacon. Made the car on our trip home smell great!!!! Seating inside is nice and you can people watch. I like to eavesdrop on the questions they ask the people behind the counter. You learn something new every time - LOL. Tables outside too but it was a tad too hot the day we visited to sit outside, even in the shade. Small, family-run establishment owned by Oregon natives. The artisan meat cutter and smokehouse expert are both third generation in the industry. Such a cute little town too, all cowboy-like and worth an afternoon of moseying the main street to see the shops. Just make sure you keep up your strength and have lunch at Sisters Meat and Smokehouse first.

We were nearly immediately treated like royalty. Genuinely surprised by the kindness here. I walked out with seasonings, bone in Kansas City cuts, and house smoked peppercorn havarti. Walked out saying to my wife, I cannot remember the last time someone was as kind as the folks working there.

Package the burger. By the burgers get home it is falling apart and very hard to Eat. The solution would wrap the burger and then put it in the box. I think the problem if this practice is done. We were disappointed as we don't make it to Sisters very often, but it's understandable as they are closed Monday & Tuesdays. We're glad we got to try something new. The carne asada nachos were delicious and fed myself and two kids for dinner that night and lunch for two of us the following day! Coco Loco was the only food truck at the Food Cart Garden. Worth the stop.

The lemon bar also tasted good, but was much smaller than most of the bars on the plate, and it had a darker section on one side that appeared overbaked. Both items were packaged so that I couldn't see what I had until I left and got back to my car. For a cost of $11, I was fairly disappointed with what I received. I won't say that I wouldn't go back, but I will indicate my item selection, in the future, rather than assuming they will always choose the best item available on the tray.

The decor is simple & tasteful with a definite calming aesthetic to it. We ordered a cold London Storm & a cold decaf latte to go. They were both excellent & served in adorable jars that you can take back & get a credit. While most places also fill up their cold coffee drinks with ice, here they shake them with ice in a cocktail shaker then put them in the jars without extra ice. It's so delicious & keeps the coffee flavor so much more! While there are other coffee places in Sisters, we are definitely heading back to The Slow Down State next time we're in town!!
