Came back because I heard this UCR gem was closing and had to go back to reminisce some memories and even brought my fiancé with me to try it out. Upon returning, it was very busy with both the inside and outside seating filled up around the afternoon on Saturday. It's been so long I don't know why sandwiches I used to get. This time decided to get the big dude. It took about 10-15 min to get our food. Needless to say, I think subs definitely tasted better back in the day or my taste in sandwiches has changed. It had its run and loved the memories here.

I love the Sub Station!!! So sad they are closing their doors this summer. I've used them for catering (3 large platters) & they're my go-to for a quick, yummy sandwich. My favorite is their turkey salami. Their ingredients are always fresh and delicious. I love the carrots & pepperoni peppers that come with your sandwich. Service is friendly. I hope they re-open in a new location.

Stopped by on a way to Arizona. Fresh bread, good amount of meat, could use more veggies but the sauce was overpowering... vinegar pouring out after each bite. The young staff could use better friend attitude and brush up on customer service. Overall, good spot for fresh deli sandwich!

I'm so sad to see this place go . I had always wanted to check out the sub station and heard great things about it . I heard this place was closing so I wanted to go and check it out. I came around 11 and there was already a ton of people and it seemed to be students and locals alike . You stand in line to order but the line moves fairly quickly . I decided on the lunch special they had which was the turkey sandwich and it came with chips and a drink . The sandwich comes with meat cheese lettuce tomato pickles and you have to put the mayo and mustard on yourself . The order came out pretty quickly . Overall I really enjoyed the sandwich I thought it had good flavor and the bread was super soft .

Sad this place is closing. Been coming here for decades. The sandwiches are good, made with fresh ingredients. The owner is always there working hard and keeping the place vibrant. The staff is always friendly and you can tell they happy to work there. The inside looks like you're stepping into a college sandwich shop. It's always kept clean. Substation will be missed.

The subs are good and people are typically happy with their order. The interior was pretty packed on a weekday afternoon. There's outdoor seating, unfortunately they're closing for-everrr in June. :******[

I came here to try sub station before it closes forever. unfortunately, it was not very good. I can tell the meat, cheese, and toppings are good quality but the bread really ruined it for me. It was dry and dense and almost stale. Also, they cut it so that one half was a lot thicker than the other. I ended up eating the sandwich open faced and throwing out the bottom bun because it was so thick and dry. The service was fine, I didn't wait as long as other reviews on here said they did but maybe it's because I came in the morning.

Ordered Sub Station on DD, for the first time, and it was delicious. I ordered a turkey sandwich, and I appreciated the size as well as the amount of meat and cheese. I also enjoyed how thinly the turkey and cheese were sliced. The only thing I would ask for is any vinegar/oil to be on the side as it makes the bread soggy, especially if you don't eat it all at once. Otherwise, a really solid and tasty sandwich!

Across from Uc Riverside, this place looks like it's pretty popular with the students. I thought the staff was pretty friendly and my food came out quickly. I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich. The sandwich was ok but I didn't think it was worth how much they are charging. I personally felt that you can get a better sandwich for less at Jersey Mikes.

Ordered the big dude to go by phone and it was ready when I got there. Although the sub was as good as always, fresh soft bread, fresh sliced meats, shredded lettuce and tangy dressing. The best part are the pickled carrots and yellow chilies. At just about $20 it's not an every day treat but I hope it is around for 50 more years!

This sandwich spot is a great place for college students to hang out and do studies outside. This food would score higher on my review but if they only offered different types of bread and put more oils/ vinegar/ mayonnaise on the subs/ sandwiches. My daughter and my sandwiches were very dry and had to ask for condiments and only pre packaged were available. This establishment has cornered the market at UCR being across from the college and within walking distance of most college housing.

Sandwiches will definitely get soggy if you don't eat them right away, not the biggest fan. I prefer Togo's and other places.

Probably the worst meal I've had in a long time, star rating 1.5/5…read more Price: reasonable for the area and the portions are good Service- fairly quick, took 20 mins to receive our order which was fine in during 4-5pm rush Ambiance and restaurant- the fly air units in the doors do not work, there was flies around the area which was pretty disgusting, flies in restaurants when it's open kitchen style means maggots and larvae somewhere in the restaurant, fix your fly system, place is very small with only 5 tables inside, outside patio available Dishes: tahini salad: fair portion for $6 if it wasn't drowned in "yogurt", salad was premade and I can tell as tomatoes were old, possibly sitting inside the mix, or maybe made to order and tomatoes were just bad to begin with Rice: horrible presentation and odd taste, if you are making vermicelli rice at least focus on presentation and use traditional long grain white rice, and less water, water ratio was off in this rice as you can see it looks mushy Red cabbage salad: full of dressing/oils and bottom of the pan was drowning as well, not measured Kefta kabab skewer: generic, neutral, $7, 4oz meat, not too bad for restaurant, just not presentable I guess Spicy hummus: medium low generic recipe, tasted skimmed down, which is common to save money, aldis has stronger hummus and that's a supermarket Garlic sauce: unfortunately its sauce, which is weaker and cheaper blend, just personal opinion here, I like it when it's actual garlic and stronger, it's Mediterranean food after all, no spices or much flavor, then it American Pickled vegetables: the juice was straight pretty much pickle juice, I expected maybe the generic vinegar mix, Chicken/ beef: low flavor/ season, steak is possibly chuck steak meat, no tender, I had personally asked medium, was more well done Drink fountain: I had gotten a water cup, I realized the back splash section of the drink area was dirty, which could be due to soda splash if overfilled, but the black edges were the soda generally doesn't touch was dirty, possibly build up for days or so, the water section of the water fountain was dark, it's a water fountain, how did it become black/dirty? Easy, no enough cleaning, I provided a photo of the said fountain area by the way Restaurants I've tried for reference:wtfalafel, cava, urbane cafe, bjs Mediterranean bowl, Sam's pita and kabab, east coast restaurants, and more. This is by far the worst plate I've eaten and sits at the bottom of all restaurants in general, even fast food mom and pop shops. With poor quality, presentation and taste, wouldn't recommend to anyone, make your 15-20 drive elsewhere
