I was really hoping for a better experience based on what I saw on social media, but unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype for me. One thing I always look for at a Mexican restaurant is the beans and rice they're usually a good indicator of the overall quality. This place is what I consider a hidden gem. It's not necessarily tucked away in a corner and or really hard to find, but it's not as well known as it should be considering the quality of their food. Let me start with the Chile Relleno. It is the best Relleno I have had all these days so far. I have searched high and low for a place that has incredibly good Relleno with a wonderful blend of cheese and tasty poblano pepper and this place hit on every single level. The poblano pepper was cooked beautifully tender, delicious and the blend of cheeses, OMG! Next level something I have not found yet. This place knocked the cheese blend for the Relleno out of the park. Beautiful blend of Oaxaca and other cheeses that has an incredibly beautiful cheese pull gooey cheesy incredibly delicious. The sauce pairs compliments it and as to the dish. The fish tacos from this place are incredibly delicious! The fish fried beautifully nice and crunchy with a delicious pico de gallo and cabbage for a little bit of extra crunch. The kicker that ties it all together is their crema sauce which is silky, creamy and has a slight Tang which ties everything in together for an incredible fish taco. The corn tortillas are a little bit bigger than what I'm used to but not so much to where the corn tortilla overpowered the fish taco. Then there are the refried beans. I could write a whole entire article just on their beans. They're creamy, they're they're silky, they have a nice little kiss of cheese on top for a little extra oomph. The beans are seasoned beautifully, they've got a wonderful depth of flavor that is so incredible. It's not only authentic but in my opinion it could be a dish all by itself. The beans are so good. You could serve them on a shovel or a sandal and I would eat those all day long! Definitely have to try this place. It's one of the better Mexican places I have been to in sometime, hugely impressed! We came to visit as we live nearby and always in search of a good taco. I ordered Carne Asada tacos for my son and a Carne Asada burrito with no rice for myself. It was good but nothing out of the ordinary taco shop. Unfortunately the meat did have a few "gorditos" for my son but it's expected. So if you're a picky meat eater, this may be a hit or miss. Otherwise it's good. Beans were good! Service was quick and easy. The decor is cute but it was a little dead inside, maybe because it was around 5pm. They did have music playing when we arrived but then turned it off and that made it seem dead. The windows are all glass so you can imagine the warm feeling on a hot day. New name and ownership familiar setting (looks like it was an Arby's way back when). I could tell the former restaurant, Jilbertos, was on the down-dip, but when new signage appeared I decided to drop in. As per my usual go-to, I get a carne asada burrito with everything. But, the shredded beef appealed so I started with that instead. More on that in a minute, but everything includes meat (of choice), beans, rice, onions, and cilantro. I usually pass on onions but their style is premixed diced onions and cilantro, so all or nothing. I decided I'd go nothing after encountering way more onions than I imagined, but that's entirely my preference, not a mark against the experience. Good size to that burrito. It's a hefty number and I perused the salsa bar for the best pairing. Typically I'd sample two salsas, usually the medium and spicy, but here there's spicy and spicier. A mild salsa verde was untried at present. The red is a thicker style with obvious pepper seeds and an oily consistency. If you're a regular at Taco Station you'll recognize the similar attributes. Very spicy! The habenero salsa is supposed to be hotter, but I didn't feel it was. However, habeneros are know to build in intensity the more you eat. Anyhow, this was a delicious burrito that I nibbled away at over three mini sessions within an hour of purchase. Between deliveries, basically. I enjoyed everything but the abundant onions and would order again with those excluded. The beef is moist and nicely seasoned. Id consider asking if they can add a hot sauce in its construction in the future. I'd like to try that verde with tacos and more on the special restaurant signatures dishes. Found this place on TikTok and they did not disappoint! We were in the mood for some Menudo and they serve it on Saturday and Sunday. The portion size and taste was amazing! We also ordered a breakfast burrito that was huge! The service was quick and the staff were super nice. Food was ready when they said it would be, which made it even easier to return to the office with hot food and on time! The location is busy, so allow time for parking and a line if you do not place order ahead of time. It was not too loud, which means you can carry a conversation but do so on your way out! I've been to Tacos Che a few times now and everything is always so delicious. I have tried their Cali burrito, chile relleno burrito, carnitas, taco salad, taquitos and breakfast carne asada burrito. Everything is always hot, fresh and seasoned so well. Their salsas are made fresh every day which I love and the staff is always so friendly. It's a small cozy restaurant but full of big flavor. I would say overall it was not a bad experience. Service is fast and the staff are friendly. It looks clean and the salsa bar looks fresh and clean as well. It's great for: 1) price point for the amount of food. We each got a huge burrito for $13 and an extra $3 to make the burritos wet. 2) the chunkiness of the inside of the burritos and menudo was surprising given the amount of meat 3) speed of food - nearly as fast as a fast food restaurant 4) it doesn't have loud music so it's great for those who want peace and quiet 5) decor is cute, and it has a dog friendly outdoor eating area However, I do need to cover why it is only a 3. As much as the food was pretty hefty and amazingly filling (a good number of people would have leftovers with the burritos), the flavor could use a bit of work. The menudo tastes a bit manufactured in that it wasn't made from scratch and the broth is quite thick, which I've not seen in some of the local restaurants that make it from bone. It comes with onions, limes, and cilantro, but I would have liked the herbs like oregano. The beef tripe was in there and a decent portion of it, but it didn't have much beef tripe flavor. The burrito was saucy and not dry, especially with The extra $3 to cover it in sauce, but I would have liked a better kick in flavor. The habanero sauce was amazing lifesaver though for this reason. I do think for a habanero sauce, it would be typically spicier, but the current sauce is fine. There is probably a lot of bean and fat added inside as it is quite heavy, but it is possible that the flavors were also covered because of this - I wouldn't know it was al pastor by flavor and could be easily fooled to it being anything else. All-in-all, I wouldn't be opposed to coming back, but probably in circumstances where I'm looking for a fast and cheap eat and wanted to bring my dog. I don't know how it tastes compared to the previous restaurant that was here (Los Jilbertos?) but my friend told me it more or less tastes the same. I probably wouldn't order the menudo again and stick to the burrito. Best comparison of what type of people it caters to is probably looking at El Fogón and how their burritos can be massive, but I personally not a huge fan of their bland flavors either. El Fogon's burritos, however, taste drier, and in my opinion, harder to eat without enough sauce. read more

This place is a huge upgrade from what used to be here. We tried it for the first time today and everything we ordered was excellent. We got two chile relleno burritos, a breakfast chorizo burrito, and two shrimp tacos -- all of it was flavorful, fresh, and really well made. The chile relleno burritos were especially satisfying, and the shrimp tacos were a standout. The staff was incredibly friendly and seemed like they were happy to be working there, which I love! The space is pretty small and there's no bathroom, so it's more of a quick stop or takeout kind of spot, but the quality of the food definitely makes it worth it. I had been wanting to check out this place for a while as it has been popping up on my TikTok for weeks and i was finally able to last night. It's a small restaurant on university with limited seating but there is also outdoor seating. Overall the place is really cute and clean and i like all the attention to details and the overall aesthetic. The cashier was really helpful when ordering which we appreciated as it was our first time and we were indecisive about what to order. We ended up ordering a taco salad with carne asada and also a Chile rellenos burrito . However there must have been some miscommunication with the burrito because the cashier asked us what meat we wanted we said carne asada but when we got home we realized there was no meat inside so I'm not sure what happened there. Although we were sad to see it was missing the meat the burrito was still really delicious and we would get it again. Definitely the star of the show. I really enjoyed how fresh everything tasted nothing was too greasy and the meat was perfectly cooked. I will say the tostada bowl is probably best eaten right away because by the time i got home it was more soggy than crunchy but it was still really good. They also have a really clean and organized salsa bar offering salsa options of all spice levels. They also had fresh pico which i don't see often in salsa bars. I would give zeros stars if I could. My family and I went to this place hopeful from seeing the videos and we didn't even want to finish the food. The carne asada was all fat, dry cold had no flavor. The torta had no meat on it, less than the amount of meat in my daughter's taco. The fish taco was 5$ and had two tiny strips of fish smaller than my pinky finger. It was all cabbage and vegetables. The salsa had no flavor and the cashier tried to charge my husband 2$ to add sour cream to his burrito. I was extremely excited to try this place after seeing it all over social media, and I made the long drive because the food looked so good. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The carne asada in the burrito, carne asada in nachos, and the menudo were overwhelmingly salty not just a little over seasoned, but to the point where all you could taste was salt and no actual flavor. It honestly felt like eating a spoonful of salt rather than a seasoned meal, and my family and I could not eat the food because of it. For about $50 for a carne asada burrito, carne asada nachos, and menudo, I expected much better balance and quality. Since the drive was so far, going back to have it corrected wasn't even an option, which made it even more frustrating. Seeing this place on social media had me really excited to visit, so this was a huge letdown. I truly hope the seasoning is adjusted in the future because I wanted to enjoy the food. read more
