Huge fan of local businesses. Any coffee shops, juice bars, or clothes stores... I try to drop in and buy something. My washer dryer broke down, so I decided to give the soap box a try. The first couple washes were okay. Sometimes they wouldn't follow instructions, but it was no big deal. I have black towels that every now and then would come back with a huge white spot... but again, I'm not doing them myself so I don't expect them to be perfect. However... I can no longer support this business. I have never experienced worse customer services. All of my white clothes came back with nasty black stains, which I could only assume is ink. I was enraged seeing this... when I lived in Bushwick, my laundry service would always inform me if things went wrong. No word from the Soap Box on anything awry... they just charged me and delivered the clothes. I called the Soap Box... and I was instructed to email the Soap Box's help desk. Sent 4 emails over a several week period... absolutely no response. Called back... I was told the boss or manager would contact me. Absolutely nothing. I'm baffled at how little care or accountability this company makes. There are so many options for great laundry service in Bushwick. You'll feel much better if you take your company to a business that'll respect you and your clothes. read more

What a charming store! I decided to stop by on a whim and ended up spending well over an hour just wandering through all the different sections. The range of scents is incredible, and I mean that in the best way. There were so many options, it was hard to choose! I finally settled on a few items that I'm really excited to try out. Everything feels so thoughtfully curated and the staff was incredibly helpful, which made the experience even better. I've been using Soap Box for a little over a year and in the beginning was quite impressed with their quality of service and turn around time. I was so pleased by the cleanliness and turnaround of my clothes that I did not mind the fact that their price point for service was higher than the average price point in the neighborhood. However, within the last month and half, there has been a steep decline in service. Instead of the usual 2-3 day turn around, I'd get quoted a week. I'd accept the time frame, but was disappointed when a week later, not only did Soap Box not know the status of my clothes but could not determine how delayed it would be! The quality of Customer Service also dropped. During work hours, I would get back to back to back calls from Soap Box without voicemails being left. When I'd return the call, the Soap Box rep would only answer "hello" without acknowledging I've reached the Soap Box or inquiring how they could help me--essentially a lack of customer service. Most recently, I picked up an order of clothes that arrived later than expected. When I got home, I realized I got my clothes and two separate orders of clothes owned by two different people. I immediately called Soap Box. Again, poor customer service. I felt like I had to carry the conversation and provide a solution for them. I advised them that they could pick up the two orders that weren't mine. Initially, Soap Box was agreeable. However, two hours later they called me and asked for my Credit Card so they could charge me for a pick up. I was utterly confused because in what world would I pay for a company to pick up items they incorrectly gave to me. When I asked why they needed my credit card, I was told that they needed to charge me for pick up and that they'd credit my account. I refused to provide my credit card and advised they figure out a solution that doesn't include using my credit card. An hour later, I was advised if a rep from Soap Box could pick up the items the next day. I acquiesced. They did not provide the name of the rep. They also placed a lot of trust in a strangers hands to hold on to two other people's clothes. If my clothes were missing and improperly given to someone else, I would not want them to delay in retrieving such items. The next day, the rep was 30 minutes later than scheduled. The Rep appeared annoyed , was not apologetic for the mistake and error, he did not try to make up for the mistake or the credit card request, and didn't say thank you for safely housing the items. I've decided that this last experience was the straw that broke the camel's back. I will not be back and I highly suggest you take heed with your belongings because they may allow a stranger to hold onto your items without concern and ask that stranger to front the cash to schedule a pick up. read more

I tried The Soap Box for the 1st time. I wanted to support a local business & I liked the way they present their company. However, I have to give an honest review. Pros: The staff there are all very kind & welcoming, they have a text reminder service so you can keep track of where your clothes are, & the pricing is decent. Plus the music, art & vibes in there are wonderful. They also cleaned a long African print skirt of mine very well. Cons: My winter coat came back two different shades with stains & discoloration in different areas. This coat was very pricey & it is now ruined. I would not trust them with a winter coat again. read more

Great service! Most of the laundromats in my area are closed due to the pandemic. When I found the Soap Box, it looked like I was one block out of their service area, but after contacting them directly, they agreed to do a pick-up for me. The app allows you to select all of your soap and wash preferences. After you select the option for pick-up, the app gives you a one-hour pickup window. I left my bags of clothes on my stoop and they were picked up as scheduled. Two days later, my clothing was once again delivered back to me in the promised timeframe. The person that dropped them off waited outside until they saw that I was at the door to pick up the bags. The clothes were nicely folded. The bill was about $100 for 80lbs of clothes. I will definitely be using the Soap Box again. read more

I have used the soapbix twice now, and am incredibly pleased with their online scheduling and pay system, all digital and no worrying if I have enough cash at drop off. My clothes come back on time, clean, and neatly folded. I'm obsessed. They sent someone right away to pickup my clothes and they were ready to be dropped off the next day, which was 2 days before they estimated. Laundry is always a hassle for my busy schedule and they made my life so easy. The drop off and pickup fee is really the only thing that discourages me from using them every time, but honestly it's not like i'm going to miss $14. Terrible customer service. High Prices combined with a total disregard for requests make this place a definite avoid. I emailed to see if I could send my own reusable hanging garment bag and do no plastic; they said sure. First order, shirts came back in plastic, they kept my reusable bag, I had to ask them to send it back to me. Second order, they used the bag properly but had my clothes in plastic underneath my bag. Third order they sent me clothes back in plastic with the bag clipped to the side. Every time I asked for no plastic, just put the clothes in the bag, never happend. Spent $400 on a two piece coat. Paid $65 to get dry cleaned. Picked The Soap Box to support a black owned and operated business. After 47 minutes searching for my coat they found it but only turned it 1 out of the 2 piece coat. It's the only coat that I have. It's freezing. Hope they find it so I can provide 4 stars and recommend this place. Additionally: the one piece they returned was 80% clean. read more

UPDATE: The owner reached out to me directly after my previous issue. He listened to my concerns and addressed them directly. With such a personal service and industry, having someone diligently work to ensure customer satisfaction is invaluable, and not at all as common as one might expect. It should be noted that in my previous experiences, The Soap Box has been consistent in the service and quality it provides. This appears to be an anomalous case, rather than a total decline in quality. I feel the company has gone above and beyond to make me feel comfortable about using the service again, even implementing some new quality assurance techniques at my recommendation. The cleaning offered by this service was great. The problem is with scheduling and accountability. Today, for the 4th time my delivery of clean clothes has been messed up. I have had a weekly pick-up on Monday 6-7 am and a drop off on Wednesday between 6-7 am for a couple of months. The first time my clothes were not delivered it took me half the day to actually get in contact with someone because no one answered the phone, responded to voicemail, or texts. No explanation was given, but I was offered $10 off on my next bill. However, the scheduler then changed my weekly pick-up/drop-off schedule without telling me. I was also not given the $10 off. The next time that my service was disrupted was as a direct result of the mistakes that The Soap Box made in fixing the first mistake. It took a week to resolve this issue. Then, after New Years I was informed the day before my delivery that my clothes were not ready. I scheduled an alternative time a day later. The Soap Box then changed my weekly time to that of the alternative time that had been scheduled. This was done without any warning The scheduling for the Soap Box is inconsistent and they do not able to fix their mistakes. If, like me, you schedule a laundry service around a busy work schedule, them this business is not for you. It is neither reliable nor consistent. My scheduling issues have been worked out, apparently they were the result of software quirks. read more

I haven't had my laundry done by anyone else in a few years but quarantina has us all switching a few things up. I figured I would try The Soap Box. I downloaded the app and arranged my pickup. There was a good amount of options available as far as time frames. My timeframe was 5-6am, they text me at 5:10 and arrived at 5:21, I left my clothes on the stairs since we're doing contactless interactions. My clothes were dropped off two days later, folded neatly, separated, and smelling amazing. I opted for the house detergent. I think the price was reasonable, $1.49 per pound. This is my second time using Soap box and I must say I am very happy with my experience. I received good customer service and they returned my clothing in a timely manner. I dropped off three bags of laundry and was able to get it back within two days. Anyone who does drop-off knows this is a quick turnaround! Their dry cleaning just ruined my and my wife's clothing. Unless you want them to shrink your stuff, don't use their dry cleaning services. I will be contacting them about the thousands of dollars of damage they just did and will update this review with their response. 12/2 Edit: Waleed at The Soap Box made it right and followed through on fixing the issue. He really went over and above. I'm still not sure whether they've fixed the original issue with how they conduct their dry cleaning (I'll want to see that they've fixed the issues before I bring dry cleaning here again) but the customer service I've received has just been absolutely incredible. I got a flyer for The Soap Box in my mail. There was something about the flyer that stood out, so I thought I'd give their app a try. The app worked just fine on Android. I scheduled a pickup and a gentleman came within the time window I had selected. I brought out my laundry and accidentally locked myself out. The gentleman from Soap Box was so kind, he offered to help (not my first time locked out, I got in). That interaction alone was worth five stars but I was blown away when the laundry came back! They bag the folded laundry in plastic to keep it from the elements/the dirty laundry bag. This is awesome, as if I'm not home they can leave it at the door and I don't have to worry about it getting messed up. All of the laundry was neatly folded, smelled great and was super clean. The way they treat your socks is like a luxury hotel. I had left a trinket in my pants pocket.. it came back in a little bag on the side. Amazing. So convenient, courteous and clean. I use Wash Club 2 times a month and have for at least 7 months, the other day the app said my clothes were delivered but they hadnt been. It was a saturday morning and was able to get someone immediately on the phone, she was so helpful and polite, they were having an issue with the app, and said the driver was on the way problem solved. someone called me with a timing update less than 5 min later, and the driver was incredibly apologetic and explained what had happened, it honestly wasnt an issue and I certainly wasnt upset. They went above and beyond for a simple app error. I highly recommend them. read more

I LOVE THE SOAP BOX!!!! I've been using The Soap Box since their opening and it honestly has been the biggest help. My husband and I are both athletes with a toddler and our laundry load is overwhelming. We literally would be SOL with out the soap box. The service is A++++++++. The pick up and delivery is always on time and the clothes are always perfect. & the treats keep getting better and better - not only do we get dried lavender in our bags but now we get the best cookies EVER with our clean laundry. Do not use this place!!I made a pickup for an elderly person whose stuff came out to $35.00.The stuff was dropped off at the beginning of October and picked up November 3rd.I picked the stuff up and was told it was almost $60.00.Apparently three of the comforters were not charged or as the guy put it "we didn't know about the three comfortors.Mistakes happen I get it but you mean to tell me that a phone call couldn't be made as a common courtesy to let the person know the mistake was made. This person lives on a fixed income.So the additional money means alot.Didn't get an apology or anything remotely acknowledging the mistake except "we didn't charge".Unexceptable and going forward the asian laundromat with a similiar service on broadway will get future business from this person. read more

I've never gotten delivery wash and fold services before so I was nervous to say the least. This service is ridiculously affordable and the customer service is outstanding to say the least. I've had my laundry done a few times and I usually spent around $20-$30 (what I was spending at laundromats when I lived by a few) and that's including me throwing in items like thick towels and blankets. This is NECESSARY for my grad student budget. The delivery guy honestly makes my mornings he is so sweet and kind! Always on time always smiling and with a good morning even when my pick up is between 7am-8am. The way they fold the clothes? Impecable and space saving. I wish I wasn't moving out of Brooklyn because I've grown to love and trust this business so much. Since moving to NYC I've used a lot of laundry pick up services, and The Soap Box is by far THE BEST! Best prices, best customer service, best app. The pick up/delivery man was extremely courteous and helped take all of my laundry up and down from my third floor walk up, and I didn't feel judged at all for using this service (unlike other laundry pick ups I've experienced). The app was super simple to use (not to mention, pretty) and the text notification service was really helpful - while they're a small business, they run like a corporate delivery, almost like Peapod. My clothes were really clean and folded beautifully, with plastic bags surrounding the clothes so they didn't touch my dirty laundry bags. I don't know what else I can say for my praise of the Soap Box - my experience has been amazing and I'll definitely be using them again! read more

These people are literal ANGELS!!! They are always so kind and happy to help. The service can't be beat, my laundry is almost always complete within 24 hours - perfectly fresh, folded to a crisp, and packed neatly according to clothing type. To top it all off, I received a shirt back with several small bleach stains... I brought it in and asked if they could do anything (expecting a small refund or some sort of coupon) and they went above and beyond to research the shirt, order the exact same one, and have it new and ready for me in a timely manner. I am very interested in patronizing this business though I can't figure out how. I tried to book online and was directed to a page with a washing machine with water filling up and dropping out. So i downloaded the app, opened the app and have been starring at picture of a washing machine but no other buttons. So after ten minutes of idly watching digital laundry machines but no working app features I tried to call the business, I got a voicemail. Can anybody help me out here?
