What an amazing place. The drinks were on point and the food was incredible. Our group reserved the private room which enhanced our experience and made it feel very intimate. Service was spectacular. We had a prix fixe menu. I didn't get to have the burrata but others enjoyed it. I loved the salmon tartare and the kale salad. For my main course I ate the gnocchi paired with brussel sprouts - absolutely delectable. Each item had the most perfect texture. The berry pavlova was the perfect ending and it took a lot of self control not to eat the chocolate cake, too!

Recently met up with colleagues for a happy hour but to our disappointment, it wasn't much of a happy hour. I remember coming here for happy hour awhile ago and there were some decent specials. If you like gin, there's that! I ordered a drink off the regular menu. With gratuity, $22. Not again!

Food here was really good. Stopped by with a friend on a random weekday and this place was packed. We ordered everything from the calamari, spicy salmon tartare, braised short rib mafaldine, bistro burger and the honeycrisp apple pie. The calamari had some surprising additions, but very delicious and a must order if you love calamari. The salmon tartare was really fresh and tasty. The mafaldine was cooked al dente and the short rib you could tell was slowly braised for hours. My friend and I really enjoyed our experience here. The ambience is very warm, bright and definitely loud. If you want a private more intimate place this may not be it unless you have a private dining room. The servers were attentive and I loved how they bring out still water and sparkling. Highly recommend making reservations in advance.

Liked the Cappuchino and fresh bread. My herb omelette was a bit bland and the potato cake greasy. The 1/2 pound chocolate chip cookies was melty and tasted very good.

Decent brunch spot. They were some to accommodate or large group and the servers were friendly & attentive. I had a few starters which were delicious--esp the salmon tartare. However, for my main I got the Ranchero Scramble which was ok. The fact that it was served in on some normal tortilla chips felt low effort for the price. I would come back. It's a nice atmosphere, but I'd probably stick to small plates

This is a DC staple that I can always count on. We had an amazing meal and wonderful oysters. The service is always great as well. I love The Smith because it's not a huge tourist spot either. Definitely a great stop!

Grabbed some late night bites and drinks with a friend here. The bar staff that supports the hightop tables near the bar Is friendly and attentive. Can't go wrong with a late night espresso martini. The kettle chips and dip was phenomenal! Highly recommend. As a sweet finisher we got the apple crisp which was like a tart with ice cream on top. It comes served chilled but I personally think it would be amazing hot like an apple pie Ala mode. The restaurant is pretty spacious with classic decor.

I have waited a month to post this review to ensure that my feelings are grounded. I hope that what I am about to say is not fully representative of this establishment, however, I feel it is important to share my experience. In short, we received abusive service. My family (7 year old son and wife) went here to eat some lunch while we were visiting DC. It showed well on the reviews and appeared to be a nice place from a variety perspective. When we arrived we were greeted and seated. After a very long wait a very wait, another waiter asked for our drink orders. They never arrived. After another long wait another server came by and asked if we wanted bread. The bread never came. The wild thing is that the entire time our original waiter was talking to the table adjacent. When we asked for a bit of help with the drinks, we were scolded. I didn't know how to react as we just were checking in as my son was getting pretty hungry and thirsty. Finally our second waiter came by and was helpful for a bit, however, our food that was ordered was both cold and not correct. This is a pretty big deal for a 7 year old. My wife's food never arrived! She has an allergy and is not able to eat any of what my son and I received (note we did not order what we received) ours or the bread. We could never get help and the person that was wiping off the tables (bussing) got our check. The manager on duty didn't want to seem to come over (we could tell it was the manager shaking their head as the busser asked for us). We spoke to a third waiter and was told sorry and if my wife wanted something that could make it for us (free?). We left and got some snacks at our hotel. Wow - what a wild experience. Wrong food (which wasn't good), wife's food never arrived, scolded by a waiter, manager never checked in when asked, paid for everything just to ESCAPE, original waiter literally ignored us and chatted with the other table for an hour (I am guessing other tables experienced issues?). Horrible experience. HORRIBLE. Note it is very rare that I leave a one star and it's never happened where I explain that if I could it would be a zero star review. Please take caution and I hope that NONE of this is something that you or your family experience. Ambiance is all over the place. They seem to want to be high end, but are disorganized and confused on staff being unkempt.

The service here was 10/10. We had a Saturday morning early reservation around 9:30am. The staff was extremely welcoming and even brought us a complimentary appetizer for our patience. We really did not wait long but were surprised by the donut appetizer. It was phenomenal with our coffee. Also, they fresh steam your milk with your coffee. Amazing attention to detail. The brunch entrees were huge portions and delicious. Highly Recommend.

Went with the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and it was very good, liked both the sassy cocktail and savory remoulade sauces that accompanied. Got the French dip sammie as a main course. The roast beef was quality. The au jus for dipping was complementary, would have liked more of it. Service was solid. The recommendation from my waitress to switch things up from regular fries to spicy-ranch style was appreciated. Those spicy-ranch fries were a first for me and scrumptious. The menu is varied, has a little bit of everything. I had a relaxing time here although pricing is up there.

As many times as I've walked past The Smith this was the first time I've actually dined in and I'm so glad that I did. We stopped by to grab drinks and an appetizer before heading over to the Wizards game. It was packed but we were able to grab a couple of seats at the bar. We ordered a round of drinks and my friend insisted on trying the mussels, which were delicious and fyi come with a side of fries instead of your normal baguette. Overall we had a great experience and I will be back very soon to try out some of their other menu items.

I first fell in love with The Smith in 2013 working in NYC but today I was disappointed at the DC location. The food (Grilled Chicken Sandwich) and drink (Espresso Martini) were good! However, the service was slow and our waiter was more concerned about the tables around us. Location is great and accessible by metro and close to the National Portrait Gallery.

Had a really great Thanksgiving meal here. Food was so much better than where we went last year charging twice the price and super appreciate they were not requiring upfront payment with no cancelations with refund allowed like numerous other places looked at. Everyone really enjoyed everything they ordered and personally my shrimp cocktail starter I was super impressed with. Stuffing was also a fav amongst the table. I have been here several times for martini hour and cocktail but have never been for food, but after this experience will certainly be back. Service was a little chaotic but really expected with the volume they were dealing with. Everyone was still helpful and friendly. Especially the manager who brought the wine over.

For $45 per person, the all-you-can-eat experience feels like a really solid deal considering how many protein options and side dishes you get. They start you off with a variety of banchan (side dishes), including a salad with this super tasty dressing that had the perfect little spicy kick. For the BBQ, we kicked things off with the spicy bulgogi and butter garlic shrimp, while the others tried the pork belly (I don't eat pork). Later we ordered the steak, spicy brisket, and grilled squid, which were all delicious. The spicy brisket especially was a standout for me. The guys also ordered two rounds of fried dumplings that looked amazing, but since they contain pork, I had to sit those out. I'd love to see Chadol add a veggie dumpling option to the menu! As for the sides, the kimchi and cold glass noodles were both hits at our table, and of course we all added white rice. The "mashed potatoes" though? Definitely more like potato salad and unfortunately very bland. On the other hand, the cheese corn costs extra but is 1000% worth adding. For drinks, the guys enjoyed the Woody Old Fashioned while I had a mezcal margarita-style cocktail that was smoky and refreshing. We also ordered one of the chicken options but never received it and eventually just gave up on it. One of the coolest parts of the experience is the ordering system. Most meats are ordered directly from a machine at your table, and the food comes out quickly on this conveyor belt-style setup which was honestly so fun. Drinks and side dishes are ordered through the servers. The atmosphere was lively and energetic without feeling overwhelming. The restaurant is actually much larger inside than I expected, with a modern setup that works well for smaller groups. That said, I didn't really notice tables for larger parties, so I'm not sure how they accommodate groups bigger than 6 people. Service started off a little rough because our server wasn't very attentive, but after I called it out, he definitely stepped it up and things improved. Overall, Chadol was a really good experience and absolutely worth the price. The 1.5-hour seating limit makes sense too, both to keep things moving and give others a chance to enjoy the experience. I'd definitely go back!

Next, the hostess led us to a table inside where the magic of candles, cozy tables, and intimate booths immediately meets your eyes. Did I mention that we sat in most comfy green velvet chairs in our cozy booth? How sexy! Service: our waiter, Jordan, was the best! He provided great service and recommendations. However, shoutout to the rest of the staff because it was truly all hands on deck. Drinks: the bartender is indeed a mixologist! There is no question of the magic he created in a glass. I literally tasted all the flavors in the drink and the liquor ratio was just right. Of course I went with another round, you simply have to try it understand why I did. Small bites: the kitchen was out of mussels and their famous donuts so we decided to try the Franks en Crute, the sexy adult version of pigs in a blanket lol.
