    Martini Happy Hour Menu
    Ken B.

We stopped in for Happy Hour. Or as they call it "Martini Happy Hour." We enjoyed a dirty vodka martini and a dirty blue Martini - made with bleu cheese stuffed olives and a bleu cheese vermouth. Nicely priced at $12 each. Also served with the cocktails were a bottle of still and a bottle of sparkling water - very welcomed on our August 20,000 step sight-seeing tour. We ordered the $12 shrimp cocktail - 5 decent shrimp with two sauces. The $7 fries were insane! If we're in the area again on this trip, we'll definitely stop in again for Martini Happy Hour.

We had a great dinner at The Smith during our trip to DC, and everyone found something they enjoyed. My daughter ordered the kids' steak well done. It ended up being a little dry, but the fries were crispy, well-seasoned, and a hit with everyone at the table. My son had the NY strip steak with mashed potatoes and really enjoyed it. The steak was cooked well, and the mashed potatoes were incredibly creamy and smooth. I ordered the sugar snap pea salad with salmon, and it was exactly what I was looking for on a hot summer evening. The salad was fresh, light, and refreshing, with a subtle hint of mint that really made the flavors pop. The salmon was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with the salad. My friend ordered the sugar snap salad with chicken Milanese, and the portion was enormous. The chicken literally covered the entire plate! It looked delicious and would easily satisfy a hearty appetite. The Mac & cheese was cooked well with a nice crust on top. Overall, the food was fresh, the portions were generous, and there was something for everyone. I'd definitely return the next time I'm in DC.

Excellent lunch at The Smith! We came in for a late lunch without a reservation. We had our baby and stroller with us, and they were able to seat us with enough room for our stroller next to the table. We could tell that they had all the families with little kids grouped to one side of the restaurant, and we felt that was clever and convenient. The food was great! We both got salads. I loved the snap pea chicken salad. And my husband really liked the soba noodle salmon salad. He had a Bloody Mary, and I had a yummy mocktail. Everything was great, including the service!

We met a friend at this busy crowded American brasserie in Penn Quarter. Let's face it, the Mac + cheese was just fantastic. I ordered the short rib meatballs with garlic whipped potatoes and portobello mushroom ragu. I was enjoying the potatoes and the meatballs until it turned tough, gristly and in parts, very rare. I lost my appetite. The Mac + cheese was what I'd recommend. Otherwise, it was very crowded and noisy and I don't think I'd come back.

100% average. The food was 5 out of 10, the service levels were the same. Was really hoping for better, it's a totally serviceable restaurant but nothing special. The cocktails featured (maple old fashioned) was overly sweet.

Just what I needed !!! Good Bloody Mary, I added in some pickle juice for extra flavor. The pickle martini was my favorite.

YUM. Everything we tried was incredible- we couldn't pick a favorite because we loved it all! We happened to come by during happy hour and they had nice cocktails and small bites. Service was great- quick and attentive. We sat on the patio which suited our quick happy hour stop but the inside looked stunning- I would sit inside for a full experience.

Food here was really good. Stopped by with a friend on a random weekday and this place was packed. We ordered everything from the calamari, spicy salmon tartare, braised short rib mafaldine, bistro burger and the honeycrisp apple pie. The calamari had some surprising additions, but very delicious and a must order if you love calamari. The salmon tartare was really fresh and tasty. The mafaldine was cooked al dente and the short rib you could tell was slowly braised for hours. My friend and I really enjoyed our experience here. The ambience is very warm, bright and definitely loud. If you want a private more intimate place this may not be it unless you have a private dining room. The servers were attentive and I loved how they bring out still water and sparkling. Highly recommend making reservations in advance.

Decent brunch spot. They were some to accommodate or large group and the servers were friendly & attentive. I had a few starters which were delicious--esp the salmon tartare. However, for my main I got the Ranchero Scramble which was ok. The fact that it was served in on some normal tortilla chips felt low effort for the price. I would come back. It's a nice atmosphere, but I'd probably stick to small plates

The brunch here is pretty good! My favorite was the vanilla beach French toast which came with caramelized bananas and candied orange mascarpone! I had low expectations for the spicy salmon tartare, but it was surprisingly good. For entrees we ordered the Benedict and shrimp and grits. These definitely needed some hot sauce to make it more flavorful, but if you don't like spice then this was good as is. Our waitress was nice but she forgot some items we asked for. The place is super busy on weekends so understandable. Definitely make reservations for weekend brunch! There is a ton of seating but it gets filled up fast.

Went with the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and it was very good, liked both the sassy cocktail and savory remoulade sauces that accompanied. Got the French dip sammie as a main course. The roast beef was quality. The au jus for dipping was complementary, would have liked more of it. Service was solid. The recommendation from my waitress to switch things up from regular fries to spicy-ranch style was appreciated. Those spicy-ranch fries were a first for me and scrumptious. The menu is varied, has a little bit of everything. I had a relaxing time here although pricing is up there.

Got reservation for Memorial Day and strolled in. Was seated earlier than reserved time. I had a drink called the gatsby which was recommended by the server. He was very knowledgeable and made great recs. Beautiful restaurant. Great food. $$$ like everything else in DC

I first fell in love with The Smith in 2013 working in NYC but today I was disappointed at the DC location. The food (Grilled Chicken Sandwich) and drink (Espresso Martini) were good! However, the service was slow and our waiter was more concerned about the tables around us. Location is great and accessible by metro and close to the National Portrait Gallery.

It's a basement bar with a bit of a dive vibe, but it's hard to ignore the nautical, blue crab theme throughout. Turns out that one of the owners is a Marylander, which is cool to see reflected in the decor in a place in dc, even though it is next door. They have a happy hour and they have a great variety of drinks in general. It's bring-your-own-food (BYOF) and there are a bunch of delicious looking Asian spots nearby, including upstairs. It didn't start getting crowded until closer to 10, which, as I said, is surprising for this part of town to me. Everywhere in Chinatown is not going to be packed and busy, and this place is here to remind you of that. Stop by if you're looking for a more chill vibe. Staff are pretty cool.

For $45 per person, the all-you-can-eat experience feels like a really solid deal considering how many protein options and side dishes you get. They start you off with a variety of banchan (side dishes), including a salad with this super tasty dressing that had the perfect little spicy kick. For the BBQ, we kicked things off with the spicy bulgogi and butter garlic shrimp, while the others tried the pork belly (I don't eat pork). Later we ordered the steak, spicy brisket, and grilled squid, which were all delicious. The spicy brisket especially was a standout for me. The guys also ordered two rounds of fried dumplings that looked amazing, but since they contain pork, I had to sit those out. I'd love to see Chadol add a veggie dumpling option to the menu! As for the sides, the kimchi and cold glass noodles were both hits at our table, and of course we all added white rice. The "mashed potatoes" though? Definitely more like potato salad and unfortunately very bland. On the other hand, the cheese corn costs extra but is 1000% worth adding. For drinks, the guys enjoyed the Woody Old Fashioned while I had a mezcal margarita-style cocktail that was smoky and refreshing. We also ordered one of the chicken options but never received it and eventually just gave up on it. One of the coolest parts of the experience is the ordering system. Most meats are ordered directly from a machine at your table, and the food comes out quickly on this conveyor belt-style setup which was honestly so fun. Drinks and side dishes are ordered through the servers. The atmosphere was lively and energetic without feeling overwhelming. The restaurant is actually much larger inside than I expected, with a modern setup that works well for smaller groups. That said, I didn't really notice tables for larger parties, so I'm not sure how they accommodate groups bigger than 6 people. Service started off a little rough because our server wasn't very attentive, but after I called it out, he definitely stepped it up and things improved. Overall, Chadol was a really good experience and absolutely worth the price. The 1.5-hour seating limit makes sense too, both to keep things moving and give others a chance to enjoy the experience. I'd definitely go back!
