I have only had a few things here on my handful of visits. Why? Because they're so so good. Firstly, get a bowl of their trademark mushroom soup. It's ethereal. Next, order the BLT...it's buttery and the bacon is crazy good. I can't say more than that - service is decent, atmosphere is comfortable (though the tables are too short for the height your chair puts you at). Enjoyed a wonderfully orchestrated dinner with a small group at this charming BYOB. Service was perfect -- attentive but not annoying. The appetizer - shrimp & risotto balls-- just crispy enough. Spinach Salad good but not a work of genius. The duck entree, however was fabulous. Cooked just perfectly and so flavorful. Thought I would not have room for dessert but when the apple tart was set down in front of me it magically disappeared. I will be back to try more yummies. I wasn't that hungry today but we wanted to grab a bite on our way to the dealer, so we decided to meet here for a healthy and light late lunch. I decided on a cup of the mushroom bisque accompanied by a croissant, which was surprisingly filling and very savory. The bisque was delicious: creamy and savory with a hint of fennel and perhaps truffle (I think?). Anyhow, whatever the exact flavors were, they meshed well and made for a very good soup. The croissant was buttery and flaky, although it wasn't amazing; The Little Chef in Princeton still holds the crown for best croissants. They do bake them on the premises here every day and you can definitely taste the difference, though (not a fan of mass-produced supermarket croissants). It also comes with a side of pecan butter, which was quite possibly the most delectable spread ever. It was a nice change from the typical cinnamon butter and just so creamy with a perfect balance of pecan and the butter's inherent flavor. It almost made me want to get another croissant just so I could finish it. But then I would have been brought more butter and gluttony would have taken over. So I desisted...with much restraint on my part. Dad's BLT with pepper turkey bacon and aadditional semi-spicy fried egg was great and makes me want to add a fried egg to every BLT from now on; it's absolute ingenuity. My friend's shrimp salad on croissant was creamy and fresh, but it's not my favorite because I'm not a huge fan of raw celery; your mileage may vary, though. And of course, we split the truffle fries because you can't come here and not get an order. It would be the equivalent of going to Five Guys and getting a plain "veggie" burger (if you're not vegetarian, that is). Service was superb, as always, and our food was served quickly. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. Nice setting, good service and decent locally sourced food...but I feel it's a bit overrated. If you're coming for brunch and are a coffee lover, be forewarned the coffee is weak. There's no excuse for this with all the great coffee out there now. Even Black Cat serves great coffee. Brunch is a bit overpriced for what you get. $15 for french toast with berries. I've had good and mediocre brunch food here. It's BYOB but don't expect to feel like you're saving. In fact I find that BYOBs typically charge substantially more for their food to make up for lack of alcohol revenue. Dinner entrees are about $30. Spent about $170 for three which is a bit much for a BYOB and food that was decent (sometimes really good) but not great...to warrant these high prices. I recently had the $32 halibut and it came to the table smelling a bit too fishy. The sides it came with however were delicious. I regret not sending it back as it was obviously past its prime. My brother had a $30 strip steak that was tough. My friend's gnocchi was very good but at $25? Overall I felt ripped off. I've given this place way too many tries especially for brunch because it's so close to my house and at least they try to serve decent locally sourced food. I think after that mediocre, entirely too expensive dinner I recently had, however, I'm finally done. If you have money to blow...enjoy the sweet setting, good service and decent overpriced food. read more

Received a gift card awhile ago, we are very pleased that we went there this evening. It was one on the best dinner/experiences that I have had in awhile. We were greeted warmly seated promptly moments later Lou (she) came over to let us know she was our server. It's a byob and Lou wasted little time getting us water and opening our wine. Lou told us about the menu my Finance asked about recommendations, which Lou went thru and made several recommendations. We decided to start with mushroom bisque which was the BEST that we have EVER tasted. Then onto dinner which Laurie went with Lou's recommendation pork chop with pumpkin grips, maple n cinnamon spice that was out of this world. I had one of the best New York steaks with mushrooms, goat cheese potatoes AWESOME! We completed the meal with Cream Brulé which was toasted sugar, n bacon can't go wrong with bacon! We held our year end Holiday Party for our firm here this year. The service is impeccable and the food is amazing. The restaurant was closed to the public for our private event. Tara was wonderful to work with as our party planner, working closely with us to customize our menu and provide our own entertainment. The entire staff was very attentive and assisted us in setting up our little bar area (this is a BYOB). We couldn't have been more pleased with the atmosphere, food and service. Mushrooms galore! Had a wonderful lunch today with friends. Started with the truffle fries, sipped the mushroom bisque, savored the mushroom omelette, and devoured the chocolate mouse. The iced tea was refreshing with a hint of mint. I can't wait to come back! The total for three people (sharing the app and dessert) was $66. Been to this beautiful place twice - everything was yummy and the wait staff are well trained and friendly and very attentive. It's that perfect little place that you take your mom or best girlfriend to and you will not be disappointed. In a word, this place is fabulous. Fantastic, unique dishes priced just right. And the fact that it's a BYO is icing on the cake. The service is fabulous and the servers really know what they're talking about. I've been here twice now, once with my husband for date night and then with larger group for his mom's birthday. The food was fabulous both times. The only thing that some people may consider as a drawback is that it can be quite noisy since it's smaller place and typically packed. I wouldn't let that deter you from enjoying the great food and service for a really reasonable price. The tab for the two of us came to a mere $60 and we had ordered 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, dessert and coffee. Definitely, a must visit for the foodies at heart. read more

The decor is quaint - modern French country, and certainly full of the ladies who lunch crowd, as others have mentioned. The big deli case isn't adding anything, but I can live with that. The mushroom bisque is very good, and I make 3 kinds of my own mushroom soups, so I'm choosy! DH had the Monte Cristo, which was good, he said. The star was the grilled cheese, of all things. I wasn't being wowed by anything on the menu, so I opted to go with that. Oh my. The cheese was excellent, and the rich mushroom duxelle spread and some sort of fancy oil plus the greens (kale?) combined to make a decadent, savory grilled cheese. Quite outstanding. I assumed the greens were salad-style and if I had known they would be in the sandwich, I would have asked for them on the side. Don't do it! In the sandwich, they provided just the right amount of bite and bitter with the lush duxelle and sharp cheese. It was accompanied with a mornay sauce for dipping, and DH darn near licked the whole bowl clean after using it with the house-made potato chips! read more

I came here with my parents and boyfriend to celebrate my graduation. I really like the intimate ambiance of this restaurant and the fact that it is BYOB. Additionally the service is great. I had the appetizer special that night which was escargot. It was buttery, but not overly greasy. I also loved the skate, which was my entrée. It was not fishy at all and the meat was very tender. I tried some of my mom's mushroom bisque and was blown away. I was almost jealous that I did not order that instead. My boyfriend's BLT soup was also very good. You can't go wrong with the soups here. Sliverspoon is definitely one of the best restaurants that I have been to in the main line. read more

I was in town to take a client to lunch and made reservations based on the reviews on their yelp page. I was not disappointed. To call where this restaurant is located a shopping center isn't accurate - this restaurant is nestled in a collection of shops and boutiques. Adorable location - very quaint. The dining area is a little small - you'll need reservations, that's certain. There are tables outside that also filed up during the lunch rush. The menu is made from fresh, locally grown ingredients and is delicious. I had the mushroom bisque, the farmers omelette, and the hazelnut bread pudding. My only critique - the hazelnut bread using was a little dry (I like mine almost wet with sauce) and there seemed to be salt in everything (sea salt in the bread pudding), which was a little off putting. But, delicious and I would definitely go back for more. ! read more

My husband and I decided to try The Silverspoon this morning for breakfast. I ordered the French toast with berry compote and a side of bacon. The French toast was fluffy with a crispy crust - it rivaled the French toast I ate in South Jersey diners as a kid :) And the bacon was caramelized to absolute perfection! Hubby ordered the mushroom bisque to start off with, and was very pleased. He then ordered the Silverberger. He is quite picky about his burgers, but said midway through, "this might be the best burger I've ever had!" An undiscovered gem in Eagle Village. Every Wednesday they offer an optional "World Tour" prixe fix menu --4 courses for $35.00. (And your 5th tour is free!) A bargain for the quantity and quality of food! Knowledgeable and friendly servers, great ambiance, BYOB, and exceptional food. My family and I have never been disappointed! Unfortunately, not many people know of the restaurant, and it is at most have full the times I have dined there. It would be a shame if it didn't make it. Bacon for everyone. We popped in on Sunday for brunch without a reservation (poor planning on our part, do make a reservation, the place is not large) and were seated without too much fuss. We began with the coffee, a delicious Ethiopian roast, and some warm, freshly made, sweet potato doughnuts. That opening set the stage for a really wonderful brunch. My partner had the everything breakfast: a stuffed french toast, granola, egg and bacon affair and I the grassfed beef burger with farm cheddar and bacon on brioche. These entrees were both delicious and yet, I write to sing the praises of the Bacon. You must have the Bacon. This is a must. I don't know where they get it from or frankly, why everyone doesn't get bacon from that divine place of porky goodness, but The Silverspoon has it has knows how to cook it. Took my husband here on his birthday. The food, although good, was skimpy on the portions. My husband had the salmon, which was small and undercooked. I had the pasta with lobster and again, the portion was small. The cheese board was overpriced for what we got. I have had much larger cheese boards with more accompaniments and less pricey. For what I paid, I thought the portions could have been larger. The dessert menu was very limited. The service was impeccable and I like that it was a BYOB. The food is fine but the attitude is atrocious. The response to a simple question/mild complaint was "our customers have never had a problem before". A problem that is actually noted in another review on this site. If that is the case I am assuming I am not your customer even though our bill was well over $100 dollars for take out? I stopped into The Silverspoon for lunch on Friday with a friend...and I have to say I was very impressed by the plating arragements, not to mention the meals themselves. I had the Duck Crepes which were out of this world. The use of leeks went so well with the perfectly seasoned (not overly salty) mushrooms and duck jus that you receive more than just a taste of on the side. My fellow diner had the Veggie Wrap, and loved every bit of it. She said the asiago cheese worked extremely well with the vinegary slaw, and the roasted asparagus spears, she thought about ordering one to go... Overall, a great experience, and a definite addition to our list of weekday lunch spots. read more

The Silver Spoon combines the fine dining experience with those of a casual eatery. The food and the service were both terrific. But since the portions are modest, and the dinner entrees include a mere token of greens, adding a salad bumps the average price of a basic meal(salad and entree) to about $33. The casual atmosphere and very high noise level(due to hard floors and tin ceilings), are more those of a casual eatery-this is not a place to linger and talk.
