Always had a good meal here. The inside was remodeled a few years ago and is very nice. Love the sun room overlooking Tonawanda creek. Service has always been above average. Came on Saturday for a $5 dollar burger with a drink for lunch. It was tasty, and cooked well. The fries were an add on but were even better than the burger. REVIEW Of " THE SHIP BAR & GRILL" 5612 Tonawanda Creek Road Niagara County Tuesday April 21,2026 My husband and I went for dinner around 4:45. When we arrived we were literally the only people sitting at a table, there were about 8 people at the bar. We waited over 10 minutes before we were even be acknowledged by anyone! Mind you we were the ONLY people at a table in the entire restaurant. After the menus were dropped off , it took another15 minutes for her to come back to take our order, a "Classic Double Smasher"and "Chicken Fingers". At this time the tables were slowly starting to fill, maybe three tables. Sidenote - One person alone wore many caps, she was the bartender, hostess & waitress. 25-30 minutes later she brought our food. I can only imagine that our food was under a heat lamp for a long time. My french fries were literally cold, not even warm, The fingers looked good but again cold. I waited for her to come back but she didn't. At this time she was serving the guests at the bar, so I went to the bar to tell her and waited again because she never looked my way.. I said "excuse me, I know you are very busy but my food is cold", she took it back to be remade. In the meantime I see a lot of meals coming out from the kitchen to other tables. Again it was 25 minutes when mine came out. Instead of taking it back and telling the cook to make it quick, because her husband is waiting to eat with her, NOPE that's not what happened! She brought back my meal. French fries were better, but the chicken looked like they threw the same fingers in the fryer. The chicken was hard and black, and red hot sauce was poured all over the chicken to hide the burnt chicken fingers. Again I showed the one person that was the Bartender/ hostess/ waitress/ & manager. She didn't want to fix the problems, she became rude. It was such a horrible experience! We met up with friends a couple weeks ago before a Halloween event. It's very spacious inside, and out. I had a vampires kiss martini while we waited in the bar. It was basically a raspberry cosmo with edible glitter, and very tasty. I ate light, just the beer cheese fries. It was pretty good. I think my husband had wings and enjoyed them. I used the restroom and noticed the door lock was faulty. The older female bar tender with a loud obnoxious voice opened the door on me and shouted, "LOCK THE DOOR WHEN YOU USE THE BATHROOM!." This was our first time visiting this establishment. The restaurant was extremely cold; patrons were wearing jackets while dining. The service was very slow. Staff only approached the table to take orders and deliver drinks and food, with no follow-up afterward. We asked about the daily special, ordered accordingly, and were informed it was $10. The bill did not reflect the special pricing. An undisclosed credit card service fee was also added. We were told this fee is posted on Facebook, but it was not disclosed when the credit card was presented, was not listed on the menu, and was not visibly posted anywhere in the establishment. We decided to come to The Ship for a Buffalo Bills watch party. We ordered wings, one order was medium sauce and the other was garlic parm. The other two people ordered a smash burger and chicken fingers and fries. We were informed that the wings would be awhile. Unfortunately, when we received the wings they were cold. The smash burger was overcooked. The French fries with the chicken fingers were also cold. My husband mentioned that the wings were cold to our server and she seemed annoyed. This place has been around forever. It used to be called the ship and shore, not sure when the name changed. You can get here by Boat along the Tonawanda Creek, which runs off the Erie canal, but this time we came by car. It is right near the new road bridge in Pendleton, New York. They have live music on the patio outside, which starts at 8:00 PM. Very family friendly establishment. The kids can run around and play games that they have set up for anyone's use. There is a pool table, a video game, darts, etc. The food is adequate. The service is slow because this place is understaffed. I think the profit center here is actually the bar which is quite large and gets very busy. There were three bartenders and the entire rest of the restaurant seemed to be serviced by a single waitress who did the best she could to keep up. Very few places have fried clams anymore, and the ship bar and grill is one of them. Unfortunately, they came out burnt this time. We really like this place and enjoy looking over the river while we eat or sitting outside listening to music. If your goal is to have great cuisine, go somewhere else. If you are looking to have a relaxed time, and you are not in a hurry, you can come and enjoy yourself at this restaurant. read more

Not a terrible place to get a bite and watch some live entertainment. Outdoor seating area is a bit clumsy but functional. Not a fan of the loose gravel as it can cause issues if you have trouble walking around. Parking is also a nightmare if you don't get in early on a night where they have a band. It can get very crowded and difficult to get out of the lot as people WILL block you in. Plan ahead when parking and make sure you have an out! The food was fine and I wouldn't go out of my way just for that. Service is decent and I do enjoy it being on both the Creek and Canal. I won't hurry back anytime soon however. read more

The Ship is a nicely renovated, clean bar & restaurant. If you're looking for a fairly quiet place to dine though (at least around 5pm on a Thursday), this is not your place because the bar & dining area are open concept. The server was friendly & timely. We ordered spinach artichoke dip to start and a black & blue burger and blackened chicken salad for entrees. The dip was out lickety split and the food came out at a reasonable time after the app. The burger was good, but a little underdone from what was requested. The salad i thought would have been a little more voluptuous with the greens for the price, but it was good... No iceberg lettuce! :) The chicken was seasoned & well cooked, but I wouldn't describe it as blackened (see photo and decide for yourself). The bathroom was clean. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon to listen to live music by 12 Pack Jack. Our server was Alyssa, and she was wonderful. The restaurant was recently updated and was very modern and clean. They had some interesting local beer on tap and a one page menu of mostly bar food. We had wings and a burger, and both were good. The burger was large, juicy, and delicious. The bun was very fresh. The house made chips were crispy and warm. We wished the wings had been spicier. The table had really great condiments available, and all were clean and full. The ladies bathroom was very clean, well stocked, and nicely appointed. There are several seating options to choose from: dining room, bar room, outdoor patio, window seating with a view of the water, and fireside. We will definitely be coming back. read more

The bartenders need more training. Took a long time to be noticed to place food order. The food took a long time to come out. Bathrooms need maintenance. Bartender had to fill ice and restock cooler while customers were waiting for drinks. Bartender took a break and had shots on the customer side of the bar, then went back to work shortly after, then left a short while after that. She was drunk and couldn't get her car out of the lot. I really don't like leaving bad reviews but this place sounded promising and ended up being pretty bad and I don't want others to have to deal with the frustration my group of friends and I dealt with here. Went here to celebrate a birthday and for their Thursday night 50 cent wing special. No hostess, never greeted by anybody, had to flag multiple different employees down at least 5 times to ask about either being seated or going on a wait list to be seated. Finally seated 40 minutes later. Did not receive menus until 35 minutes after being seated and would likely never have received menus or any kind of service at all if one member of my group had not complained to them that we had received no service yet. Had to go to the bar just to get cups of water. To top it all off the wings were the worst I've ever had in the Buffalo area. They were dried out as if they had been in the fridge already cooked for several days and then reheated in the microwave for 30 seconds. Had to wait 30 minutes after receiving the bill just to pay. Such a frustrating experience from a group of staff that clearly could not have cared less. Had such a bad experience here will definitely not ever be returning. read more

We ordered loaded chips with shredded pork, which was brought to us with our meal instead of as an appetizer. The chips were stale. Our server was very sweet, but there were only two servers and they were pretty busy. The bathroom needs attention and there was no hand soap. Let me start by saying that what pulled us in was the 50 cent wing night. Their wings are normally $1.50. So we walked in around 6:30 on a Thursday night. We got a table right away, put in drink orders, and got our drinks right away. When our waitress brought over our drinks she took our food order, 30 wings (Garlic parm, Carolina Gold, medium, all ordered crispy). We also ordered the side of blue cheese which is $1.50 extra per 10 wings. We were pretty hungry and ready to eat. 1 hour later...our waitress finally comes back to our table and says "Oh, you guys ate right?" Ma'am, my eyes don't lie and you can tell they are HANGRY. No amount of cute dog videos (which for some reason in this dive bar atmosphere is what was playing on the tvs) Will overcome my hunger after waiting for an HOUR. In the time we sat there we only got one drink and watched the table next to us eat three courses. She apologizes, says there was a mix up in the kitchen and that the ordering system had told her the food had already been taken out. Had she stopped by our table even once in that hour she would have known that wasn't the case. So she goes and puts the order in again. Within 3 minutes we get all our wings. I wish I could say the wait was worth it, but these wings weren't worth 50 cents, let alone $1.50. The garlic parm wings weren't crispy, the other sauces were ok but not great. You could tell they needed to change their oil as the wings had kind of a weird aftertaste. When our waitress stopped over again my husband told her the garlic parm wings were not crispy. She sighed, hemmed and hawed a bit, and then finally offered to get us another order. These ones came out in about 3 minutes as well and are what I have affectionately named "Spite wings". They were so crispy they were borderline inedible. As if the kitchen said "Oh they'll get crispy! (Cue evil laugh)" Our whole experience, from customer service to the food, was awful. We won't be back, and I recommend everyone saves themselves the trip and the money of going here. read more

Then when the food came out. Everything was warm wasn't hot. She told us she watched the cook. Take the food out and played it and she brought it out immediately. I said there is no way try these. They're all warm and you can see it the french fries the onion rings and the chicken wings. We're all warm. She was arguing with me. Not like hey what can I help you with? I'm sorry is there anything I can do? nothing she just walked away. There were ants crawling all over the table. Every time we knocked out too More.would show up. The glasses and the silverware were all dirty. She says this is how they are. They're clean. We had to wipe everything down. Spinach artichoke dip was extremely bland with no seasoning at all. Basically looked and tasted like warm cream cheese and some artichoke pieces for looks and $15.95 Then on to the blackened chicken Alfredo The chicken was good but the Alfredo was watery and no taste except an unfamiliar cheese. Wasnt even creamy. I asked the waitress to find out what kind of cheese the NEW chef used and she came back to say he wouldn't tell her and here is some extra watery sauce $23.95 Prices at this place are off the charts and the chef needs to get rid of the attitude and add some seasoning Could be a great place come summer with all the remodeling but not worth the food and prices read more

I visited The Ship Bar & Grill just over a year ago (Not a great Experience), and decided to give it another try. Meeting friends there for a few cocktails & bar food around 3pm. I arrived first and immediately went to an empty spot of the bar to which the barmaid was clean the area. She looked up & welcomed me and ask what would I like, I asked for a PBR to which they did not have so I ordered a draft beer. She then proceeded to grab a pint glass & clean the inside with the same bar towel that she had used to wipe down the bar. I was so amazed at what she had did that i took the beer & went to a bar table to wait for my friends. There was NO way I was going to drink it, the beer was as flat as could be, NO head at all. My friends arrived just about the same time. A waitress came over & asked what they would like, after taking their order I told her that the draft beer was flat & I would like a Miller Lite. She took the draft back to the bar & returned with our order along with the Barmaid. The Barmaid had my can of beer & proceeded to wipe the top of the can. She placed it in front of me and wiped her hand using the rag. Then she grabbed my friends can of Coors Light and proceeded to wipe the top of his can. We were all amazed at what she had just done. After voicing our concern of what we had just witnessed to both the waitress & barmaid, the barmaid tried telling us that she uses different rags for different things. BUT we just witnessed the reality of just what happened. We graciously paid our bill to which we should have just walked out. Went in yesterday for .25 cent wing night. Our server and the service was great - she was attentive and very friendly. The wings were AWFUL. It is apparent that on "wing night" they pre-cook a bunch of wings ahead of time and then "refry" to order. We ordered 60 chicken wings which came to our table in less than 20 minutes. No way a fresh batch of chicken wings are cooked through that quickly. Fresh cooked wings are served piping hot and should be juicy on the inside. These wings were warm, not hot and the meat was completely dried out and tasted old - like a pre-cooked chicken wing. I just need to say I went there during summer, it looks like their menu has changed, but my experience seems comparable to others. We still talk about it. Our waitress Briana was great! Unfortunately, the food wasn't - same with the host staff. It was a busy Friday, so my boyfriend called to put our name on a list while we were on the way (we were almost there, but whatever). He gave his phone number, and they said it shouldn't be more than a 30 minute wait. They said they would call when a table was ready (first available). We got there and sat in the parking lot for a long time until we realized that 45 minutes had gone by since we called. We watched other couples go in and come back out. Clearly they were also waiting for tables, but one by one they were going back in. Obviously they were being seated. At this point we went inside and asked what was going on, because it had been so long. We didn't see anyone else waiting around for a table. The hostess looked at something really quickly and said "Oh, we thought you wanted an outdoor table." No, we said first available. There were quite a few clean tables inside and outside, and we just watched three other couples get seated. Finally, we were given a table inside. Like I said, our waitress was great but the food was not good. It looks like they've changed over to a simple bar food menu. They had different entrees when I went. I had a grilled chicken dish which was totally lacking any flavor. It was supposed to be some type of whiskey/bourbon chicken. "Garlic mashed potatoes" were 100% regular boxed mashed potatoes. No flavor at all. Standard frozen green beans. My boyfriend ordered jambalaya, and the rice was undercooked, almost crunchy. He also said the flavor wasn't great. He ordered a beer (Miller Lite) and was surprised when she brought it in a can. I'm in the minority and don't mind that. On the other hand, I've never been served canned beer at a restaurant. It's not a fancy place but it's still a nicer sit-down restaurant, so I get why canned beer would seem weird. Finally, the layout and overall look of the place is...odd. The tables and chairs themselves don't fit the look of the interior. There's a ton of space where they could have tables overlooking the water (indoors) but they aren't utilizing that space for anything. There's minimal decor, but it looks odd. It would almost be better without. The bar itself seems totally out of place, too. I think whoever bought and reopened this place doesn't have any restaurant experience at all.
