Great coffee, breakfast, friendly service. We got there too late to have the tacos (sold out) so we had the breakfast plate. The salsa was amazing! I could have that on my eggs every morning. read more

Great breakfast place when visiting Marfa. Coffee is really good as well as their food. Fresh and huge portions. Don't forget to try the pastries read more

Great breakfast and coffee drinks. They take credit cards which is a plus in Marfa. Haven't tried lunch yet. Classy place! Plus wifi!

I had a lavender latte on several occasions during my stay and it was always a treat! The breakfast tacos were delicious. And I had a mezcal cocktail that was really good! It's a beautiful space with available outdoor seating. The service is also excellent. read more

Was so sad that we couldn't go into this beautiful coffee shop (covid)! We walked over for a takeout breakfast that we at on their beautiful back patio. I got watermelon juice which was delicious and my boyfriend had a cold brew which was awesome after not having good coffee for a while. We also both got breakfast tacos that were hands down the best breakfast tacos we've eaten on our road trip through Texas! They were seasoned so well and the salsa was delicious. The woman serving us was very nice and overall we loved this place! Definitely a must when in marfa. Hope to come back when things open up. read more

10/10 this is a must do when in Marfa! We stopped in for a low key dinner after not being able to find reservations anywhere in town and so happy we did. It seems like a breakfast place from the Yelp and google reviews, but the dinner was incredible! First off the staff is wonderful the guys were so great. They talked to us about the menu, suggested drinks, basically if you're the business owner these are the guys you want running the place in your absence. The cocktails were very tasty we did the spicy marg and a madre old fashion. Both the vegan coconut curry and tacos were also great! The store itself is so well curated- I could have purchased one of everything. we sat outside right by the fire and really enjoyed our time! read more

To me an architectural treasure. Its appears to be an original adobe stabilized with a steel inner frame. Merely a coffee shop and meeting place with a bar. Snacks but no food except for a back door taco kitchen. Visually, very modern, Marfa chic architecture. Our espresso was a B+. A nice place to chill for a while. read more

I visited Marfa for the day with a friend and stopped by The Sentinel for a quick coffee. The shop design is well thought out and charming. There is plenty of room to sit with a variety of tables and comfortable couches. Exposed brick, cactuses, and other greenery are spread throughout the room, giving the shop a classy southwestern flair. Food & Drink: The coffees were what we expected and after reading the food menu, we decided to order a breakfast burrito and the chicken fajitas tacos. Both of us were happy with it. Thank you, Sentinel! Definitely encourage those passing through the town to check it out. read more

The Sentinel is a great place to visit when in Marfa, Tx. Really cute spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. They have great food, baked goods, drinks, and boutique items for sale. And a huge plus is they are pet friendly! read more

Great local place in Marfa. Definitely check out the Sentinel if you're looking for a great cup of coffee and something to eat! They also sell some clothes, candles, and a variety of other things there. We even came back to the Sentinel for the tail end of our West Texas trip. I loved the vanilla latte and caramel latte. My husband enjoyed the cortado, and he even picked up a pair of wool socks for our camping trip! The coffee kept us awake for our 2.5-hour drive to Big Bend National Park. For lunch, pork tacos were flavorful and spicy! So yummy. I also enjoyed the BLT very much. The guy working that day put more logs onto the fire for us, so we could enjoy our lunch out on their patio without freezing our butts off! Thank you for a wonderful time, Sentinel! read more

We stopped here based on the previous reviews that they accommodate vegans and were looking forward to tacos. I asked if they had anything vegan or that could be made vegan, I got a resounding 'No'. We were obviously disappointed and eventually the cashier said they could probably make a pancake. We just opted for lattes (which were fine) to go at that point. It's a cute place. read more

Coffee was great definitely high quality ordered an americano, but unfortunately quality can only take you so far when you have a rude barista. When we entered this french lady was extremely rude and unpleasant. She made disrespectful comments to me while ordering. Home girl needed a chill pill, she acted like Marfa was being invaded by tourists. Good spot avoid French barista (trust me you'll know) read more

Pretty cool half décor store/quarter coffee shop/quarter bar place. The merchandise inside is unique and tasteful. COVID sucks the fun out of places but they have an outdoor seating area which is nice. While there we got a few breakfast tacos, scones, yogurt parfait, and a coffee. I don't seem to be as thrilled with it as other Yelpers it seems. The tacos were a solid good - not amazing. Less so since they are pretty tiny and at $5 ($6 if you want chorizo), I think that's asking a lot. read more

Cool atmosphere and good coffee. Some more pastry/small plate options would have been nice, but the relaxed vibes are worth a visit.

This might sound crazy but I'm pretty sure the breakfast taco was the best breakfast taco I've ever had. I don't know what seasonings they put on those delicious potatoes but it's magical. In addition to the magical taco (and coffee!) the aesthetic to the shop is dreamy and they have a bunch of cool art/knick knack to look at and purchase. There isn't anywhere to sit down inside of the shop but there is a patio out back with plenty of space. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area but make sure you get there in time for a breakfast taco!! They sell out!!! read more

Went to Padres years ago and stopped in to the new Sentiel. The soup was excellent and great salsa. Margaritas great taste. Atmosphere was nice and friendly. read more

Total 5 star service, decor, cool shopping, food. Need I say more. Loved it all. We left with our arms loaded!

Incredible space just a few blocks from the main drag in marfa. We came late one night during our stay in Marfa and enjoyed laid back Mezcal cocktails. The cocktails were well made and well priced, and sitting in the vaulted main room on a cold December night sipping smokey drinks under the subtle haze of the orange lights made for a great way to end the day. With longer hours than most Marfa establishments there are multiple sides to spending time at the sentinel, whether it's cocktails at night or breakfast and coffee in the early morning before a trip to Big Bend. It's a great spot to visit. read more

Not many options to eat in Marfa. Place can get crowded so have patience. You have to stand in line to order. Food was good and worth the wait. My wife loved the chai tea. Great atmosphere. A bit of history this place was a bar (Padres) but before the bar it was a funeral home for many years. read more

Amazing coffee shop in Marfa. It's pricey, but the space is lovely and we enjoyed everything we drank and ate.

So disappointed that this place was such a bust! Had such high hopes especially after reading the reviews. They hardly had any items available on the menu. The limited food options we did order took well over 40 minutes to receive, which ended up being incorrect. Tried to discuss the issues with the server but that was a complete joke. Tried calling the "manager" Tyler numerous times but shocker have yet to hear back. read more

My girlfriend and I came in at 2:45 on a weekday, rushing to get there before they closed as we knew it closed at 3:00. I was excited to visit on several different levels: it is in an old building that once housed an awesome bar I found many years ago, and the concept of combining a newspaper, a bar, and a coffee shop is simply a fantastic idea (I come from a newspaper family and I remain a fiend for print). We walked up to the counter to order drinks and a copy of the latest news, and we were told that they could not serve us because it was too close to closing time. In looking around, we saw several tables where people were obviously just starting their meals/drinks. We had just driven 7 hours to get there, yet the employee remained firm. This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that is contributing to Marfa becoming a place not to visit. I will save my rant on property values and property taxes driving out the locals for another forum, but this approach to customer service is an indicator of what this town is becoming. I really wish our experience there could have been more positive. At the end of the day, why should they care when another tourist will be there tomorrow? read more

Their website and Instagram didn't match what their actual food options were which was super disappointing considering we made a stop to eat here and had planned this as our only food stop. The person working was pretty nonchalant about the issue and didn't apologize nor make other food recommendations. (Nothing is open in Marfa). There was an interesting selection of items and it felt like David Rose might own the place (in a good way). The cocktails looked amazing but we didn't partake since there was no food to consume along with them. read more

This review is for breakfast. the indoor dining was closed so we ordered to go. Between the two of us we had two breakfast tacos, a scone and we both ordered specialty coffees. I quite enjoyed a oat milk vanilla latte and my wife had a flat white, which was OK. We liked the scone but the breakfast tacos were a little small for the price ($6 for Chorizo). You can also order online which saves you from waiting but the pastries currently are not available for order online. read more

Perfect lunch. Excellent food. Plenty of space to stretch out and work on your laptop.

My fiancé and I visited The Sentinel pre-covid and enjoyed their cocktails and the atmosphere. At the time, seating was available inside and they had live performances. It sounds like a thing in the past. We were in Marfa over the weekend and wanted to visit The Sentinel for some drinks. Unfortunately, there's no seating available inside due to their covid restrictions. We sat outside in their patio. We weren't able to turn on the heaters or fire pits outside because it was windy. The temperature was dropping that night so we only lasted 1 drink each before we left. We haven't tried their food yet but will make an attempt on our next trip back to Marfa. read more

We have visited Marfa, Tx twice now and this is my favorite place to come eat for breakfast. My boyfriend and I got the breakfast plate. To drink I always get the Spanish latte with oatmilk and my boyfriend gets the Lavender latte with whole milk. It's all so very good, even when they are super busy. I particularly like the kitchen staff. When they bring us our food, they are always so very nice. I also love the vibe of the place. It's very hip and modern, just like how Marfa is. Not even kidding when I say their Ancho Margarita is the best I've ever had in my life!!
