Had an excellent experience at The Sentinal. Great food, ambience, and attention to detail. I'm pretty picky and I'll stop by every time.

Beautiful coffee shop/working space. We had a pit stop in Marfa and decided to head over to Sentinel to grab some food. The place is vibrant, airy, and open. There's tons of goodies, some from local artisans that you can purchase. The coffee and food menu looks amazing. The Spanish latte and tacos that we tried were delicious. Got here at 11:30 and various teas, lunch menu items and pastries were already sold out. Tried the lavender latte and the chicken quesidalla which were both wonderful, but it took over 30 mins to receive my food. The ambience is great and I liked looking at the various items and books they have on display. Would have rated this place 4 stars because food and coffee was great but just waited way too long for my food. read more

I recently took my first trip to Marfa & stayed 2 nights. Two days in a row, I visited the Sentinel. This place is wonderful. The inside is airy, welcoming & comfy. Ample couches & chairs up front, more in the back & tables outside as well. Groovy, laid back vibes throughout. On my first visit I tried the Spanish latte & a chorizo breakfast taco. The taco was spicy & hearty. The latte was so good I had another. On my second visit I stuck with the Spanish latte but tried a Clementine almond cake that was moist & tasty. The woman at the counter (both visits) was nice & efficient. The food came out quickly & I have a feeling that anything on the menu would be just as good as what I tried. Next time I'll stay longer, maybe try some pancakes or a breakfast plate. Honestly, I could have easily sat there all day. I will absolutely come back the next time I'm in town. read more

I was blown away by how much good food we got to enjoy in Marfa but 2 places particularly stood out - The Sentinel being one of them. Everything we tried here from coffee to lunch entrees was absolutely delicious! Service was friendly and the space is spectacular. With seating options both indoors and outdoors, you can choose your environment. They've created a comfortable place you can hang out all day. The very first place we stopped in Marfa. I have never had a Lavender Late before but it was wildly delicious. My husband got a breakfast plate and a black coffee. We loved the ambiance and the $1 newspapers you can buy! It was like a little time capsule but yet still trendy and modern. We will absolutely be back each morning we are in Marfa! They recently posted a sign outdoors that said no pets :( So that was a bummer. Other than that, the ambiance of this place was lovely. Cool knick nacks and aesthetics, but we got their specialities coffees - spanish coffee and the one with turmeric, forgot the name. Turmeric sat completely at the bottom which made it tough to drink and the Spanish needed one more shot to balance out the milk/coffee flavor in my opinion read more

Ambiance could be improved by the servers improving their attitude. The young woman with the nose ring (she wouldn't provide her name and was extremely rude when asked) was amazingly rude. She was not inviting and really had a very serious attitude. She went so far as to say she hopes we have e a better day than we've had?!?! Food was great! Cocktails were delicious! Went in for an afternoon snack. Was greeted by the pleasant server. Got our order and enjoyed the food. NIce place and vibe. Read the local paper, put our trash away and put the paper back on the counter. Another lady, seemed to be in charge, noticed us putting the paper back. She was annoyed and said they were for sale not reading at the cafe. She was clearly put out. I apologized and said I did not see the sign with a price. She said nothing more but was clearly annoyed. LOVE the aesthetic of this spot, which is also where the newspaper heralds from. Lots of home goods, apparel and jewels to check out with Marfa prices (read $$$). Met the owner of the spot, Garbo, she was lovely and also is the maker of some rad jumpsuits. Coffee drinks were great. It wasn't piping hot, the taco was soft instead of cooked (maybe warmed but almost right out of the bag), and it wasn't flavorful. My parents got the eggplant sandwich didn't like it. They are premade and not heated up. Again, feels half-cooked. Drinks: The coffee drinks are solid. Ambiance: Such a beautiful, relaxing, cozy interior. Very tasty coffee! I'm not a big "small coffee house " coffee drinker. Mainly because a lot of places use cardboard cups and I can taste the cardboard idk it's something with me so , I always struggle enjoying coffee. It's often bitter or extremely sweet no in between. But ! I got an oat milk mocha , and it was so good ! So smooth and tasty and it was just the perfect temp. The girl who was there helping me is so sweet and I love the ambience , love the rotating menu as well very cool concept . Exceptional ambience, coffee, and breakfast tacos! Due to COVID, the indoor dining area is not open but they are selling loads of local art and goods inside. The baristas were very friendly, and they had staff members routinely cleaning the outside patio chairs and tables. My boyfriend and I got breakfast tacos, scones, a cortado, and their Spanish latte. I was not expecting much, but I was blown away by the tacos - they are literally the best breakfast tacos I've ever had and that is saying a lot. This is the cutest place EVER! We stopped here for a coffee and everything was great. We got a coffee, a (real) macchiato, a hibiscus tea and a croissant. The space is so adorable, I'm obsessed with the tables specifically, and they have an adorable little section of gifts/pottery/mortars and pestle you can buy. The tea and croissant were great and the staff was so sweet (and masked!). I really enjoyed this place. Inside was super cute and cozy and they had outside seating next door. Plenty of parking and chill vibes. My son and I came for breakfast as I had read good reviews and wanted to try it out while we were here. My son ordered a chocolate croissant and a Mexican coke. He enjoyed his. I wanted a breakfast taco but they were sold out so I got the egg breakfast and a lavender latte. They asked if I wanted whole or oat milk and I was happy to hear they had oat milk so that's how I ordered it. They also asked if I wanted my latte hot or cold. I love the service related questions so you make sure to get exactly what you want. Service was really fast and very friendly. My breakfast plate was so delish. The eggs were a bit salty for my taste but everything else was cooked perfectly. The bread was really, really good. Tasted like it had rosemary in it. Went really well with the jam they served. There were two big tables in the front and two small tables with couches. They had small pillows to sit on the floor so you can be level with the table for a more comfortable seat while eating. This was the first place we stopped at on our Marfa Trip and OMG was it AMAZING. I wasn't really hungry and didn't want breakfast just a coffee.
