I love ice cream!!! I was super excited to try this ice cream shop from Tucson.... The ice cream is really good and I love the creative flavors. They have a sundae with brownie or cookie or butter cake on the bottom... pretty delish. Have come here with kids and the ice cream here is absolutely delicious. Our kids have now had afternoon treats here a couple of times and each time they've tried something new they've been delighted. It's a bit healthier as all the milk is from grass-fed cows and the flavors are delicious. They have the traditional flavors and some fun flavors to try. It's a bit pricey for ice cream, but in all honesty... its reasonably priced for the premium ingredients. I was a little disappointed to learn that they don't do school fundraisers or donation support for local organizations. But that may change as they have more time in the community. read more

Really solid ice cream option in the PHX area. I was actually driving to My Pie Pizza to claim my free Yelp Elite pizza and about a mile away from My Pie, I happened to glance over to see The Screamery. I knew ice cream would go great with my pie, so I stopped in afterwards for some to-go treats. Not knowing when I'd be back in the area, I got two large double scoops (so got to taste 4 flavors in all). I got caramel pretzel, chocolate, cookies & cream and cowboy cookie. I must say that this is among the best ice cream I've had while living here in Scottsdale. It is incredibly creamy-- more like gelato than ice cream. I straight up devoured my first portion and then I REALLY looked forward to round 2 the following night. Only thing that makes them lose a star for me is the service. I didn't find them to be very friendly at all. I walked in and no one greeted me--they were all just kind of talking. So I figured they were busy so I just got out my phone to look at it and I was scrolling through emails and I looked up and the girl behind the counter was just staring at me. I was like "Oh -- can I order?" and she looked at me like I was dumb....but for gosh sake's why didn't she say "How can I help you today?" or SOMETHING! Once you taste the ice cream you will notice something is different. You should notice a fresh taste from the local premium ingredients. The ice cream is all natural from grass-fed cows. Even fillings like the honey in the Sweet Cream Honeycomb is local from Marana, AZ. It's advisable to eat local honey if you have bad allergies so you just might as well just eat ice cream. We went to the Scottsdale Screamery yesterday and ordered a flight. The flight consists of six smallish scoops of ice cream, a great idea and a fun way to sample different flavors. The entirely humorless teenager who was working could, seemingly, barely stand to be there. He did the minimum possible to serve us. He detracted from the experience for sure. The ice cream was good, I would go back for that portion of the experience. The only flavor we didn't care for was "Cookie Dough", which we left, melting in their little cups. There was a unique, in my experience, flavor with "Honeycomb" in the name, and it was delightful! Delicious! With half-friendly service this could have been a great experience. I am taking a food tour of Tucson in a few weeks, and this spot came up. Looked good, and I love ice cream, so I added that to our Tucson list of places to try. That may change? I saw that they had just opened a Screamery here in Phoenix, and it was within walking distance of where we ate lunch at (Jet's Pizza). I figured that I would try it out right now! We walked in, were greeted by the girl behind the counter, and also saw a sign sitting right near the front of the line. "Grand Opening Special- Flight of Ice Cream $5.00" (Normally $7.49). Shit, don't have to tell me twice....sold! You get 6 decent sized scoops of ice cream in your flight. Here are the flavors I got, in the order that I liked them, and if I would eat them again on their own..................... 1. Ooey Gooey Buttercake- Vanilla base, with tons of pieces of butter cake throughout. Great flavor, great texture. Nice and rich. Winner! Would definitely get scoops of this again on its own. 2. Cowboy Cookie- Salted caramel base with oatmeal, walnuts and chocolate chip cookies. The salted caramel base was great, and the chunks of cookie were delicious. Reminded me of a Ben and Jerry's Oatmeal Cookie Chunk. If you like that flavor, you will love this! Would definitely get scoops of this again on its own. 3. Bees Knees- Vanilla base with a lavender and honey swirl. This was pretty good. I could pick up a hint of lavender and less of a hint of the honey swirl. Tasted to me like a creamsicle, kind of. Interesting flavor. Not my favorite of the bunch, but not bad either. Don't know if I could eat scoops of this on its own. Maybe 1 scoop, but not multiples. 4. Banana Butterfinger- Banana base ice cream with pieces of Butterfinger. The banana base ice cream was good! A tad strong, but tasty. The Butterfingers were chopped too finely and didn't really add much to the mix. The banana was definitely the overpowering flavor. Wish they had larger chunks of Butterfinger in it. Could see myself eating a scoop of this again, but not multiple scoops. 5. Triple Play- Chocolate base with brownie pieces and chocolate chips. The brownie pieces and chocolate chips were great. Good texture and flavor. The chocolate base was horrible though. Had no "oomph" to it and was very plain and boring. Would not get this again. 6. Sweet Cream Honeycomb- Natural honeycomb pieces mixed in our sweet cream base. Yuck! I thought this would be great, but I didn't like it at all. The flavors didn't play off each other and it was syrupy tasting and just plain weird. I got a honeycomb piece in one bite that was ok, but the whole time eating this, I was thinking, "This is not good, at all." I considered tossing this one (If you know me, you know I LOVE ice cream and to even consider tossing this flavor, you know it had to have been pretty bad, lol!). Would definitely not get this again, and honestly it was one of the weirdest/worst flavors of ice cream I have ever sampled. Service was friendly by the 2 ladies that helped us, and the price was right for the amount of ice cream you get (the flight scoops are decent sized scoops....add them all up and its probably like a triple scoop), but the texture and flavors of some of them were just meh. The Ooey Gooey Buttercake and Cowboy Cookie are the only 2 flavors I would definitely order again. Also....after me and my buddies were done, we all felt really tired and kind of "weighed down" for the next hour or two. Like the ice cream wasn't sitting right (not sick or anything, just weighed down and not settled) in our stomachs. Weird. I'll give them another go if I am in the area, but am not racing back here to get this ice cream. read more

I knocked a star only because for $14, I want a hefty xl scoop of ice cream for me and the hubs, not the medium and large size which seemed like a kid scoop and a small scoop. I will still be back, the ice cream is too good to stay away and the flavors like Triple play with chocolate with brownie and chocolate chips and blueberry cheesecake, and other fun flavors with local and fresh ingredients can't be beat. But generally, quite a nice crowd. We had the double chocolate cherry + the peppermint ice cream with crushed thin mint cookies. The thin mints by/large were just that - large and could be crumbled a bit more. There's plenty of amazing mixed flavors to choose from, and they give nice size samples so you don't choose poorly. The line doesn't get stagnant, because we chose our flavors right away and we jetted to the front of the line to pay :) Tons of great toppings to choose from. Give this place a try, and save it for a date night! They also offer large dishes to share. The employees really brought down the experience. They were very unfriendly and awkward. My sister and I had never been so we were taking a little bit of time to look over the menu. Ice cream! You scream! We all scream for SCREAMERY!!! Wooooo hooooo! Let me tell you, my friend and I had been talking about ice cream allllll weekend. My husband and her husband sort of ignored us allllll weekend okay, not really, but it was NOT a priority for them! We were leaving the last night of a marriage retreat and we'd made up in our minds that we were getting ice cream this night by any means necessary! I'd been eyeing Screamery as we'd pass it on the way to our hotel where we were staying for the retreat. So finally we made our way here. They had me (or my nose rather) at the door! We were happily greeted by Ryan and Brian (If I'm not mistaken). We must've sampled every ice cream that we saw....okay not EVERY. But ALMOST EVERY . I couldn't help it! They kept recommending one flavor after the next. I was stuck between sweet cream honeycomb (which had amazing natural honeycomb pieces) and ooey gooey butter cake which is vanilla ice cream mixed with butter cake pieces. And it's not gluten free (which I don't require....just putting that out there for those it concerns). I ended up getting the ooey gooey on a cone! talking about a taste of the clouds! Sheesh! The best part about Screamery is that all of the ice cream is made fresh and the base doesn't contain antibiotics, synthetic hormones or any chemical preservatives! Ahhhhhhhh! Sheesh! I was almost convinced that I could eat this for every meal, every day and be okay as it's less genetically engineered than other foods we eat. Living in a hot city like Phoenix, you have to know all the best ice cream places! I originally tried The Screamery in Tucson years ago and was so excited to hear they had a location coming to Phoenix. I got my fill of The Screamery from Whole Foods until then. Life got in the way, but I was finally able to go the Phoenix location! So good. The sweet cream honeycomb is my favorite. It's definitely sweet enough to put you in a sugar coma, but no other places has anything like it! The honeycomb mixed in gives in for a nice crunch and is enough to always keep me wanting more! The scoops are big and you can also buy your favorite flavor by the pint or quart! PS, make sure to check that your table is cleaned off!
