What a cool place and not to mention the food is really good. We had the avocado bacon melt, the classic grilled cheese, tomato soup and Parmesan garlic fries. None of which disappointed. The service was top notch as well. Everything was made to order fresh. The ambiance is cool with all of the lite signs, tons of seating and very clean! Definitely a must try spot if in the area. Oh yeah and their sodas have REAL cane sugar NO high fructose corn syrup.
A great place to stop for a sweet treat. I always love the flavor options Melt has. The service is quick and samples are encouraged! I went with the cherry chip and I loved every bite! Definitely stop here if you're in need of dessert in the downtown area :)
This is a hidden gem! Ice cream in a bar setting which is awesome because it's open late but the bar was quite busy when we went so waited a bit. Regardless, the wait was worth it because my butter beer ice cream was delicious and the container was cute!
Stopped in this location nestled inside Jobot coffee & bar. There weren't a ton of flavor options that excited me so I opted for a double scoop with butter pecan and vanilla bean-- you can't go wrong with either! I appreciate how they place the scoops in a take out box with a fortune cookie.
tl;dr expect a whimsical spin on artisanal ice cream at this nested scoop shop Despite Phoenix's wide array of frozen dessert offerings, Melt has carved out a niche, unconventional brand of artisanal ice cream. The operation is tucked away inside Jobot Coffee & Bar, itself smack-dab at a busy downtown intersection off Roosevelt. The space is industrial and slightly grungy. Barebone lighting structures and exposed ductwork hang from the high, dark ceilings. Concrete extends from the unpolished floors to the structural columns. A desert sunset mural runs parallel to the long, green LED-lit bar, with the ice cream display at the far end. Patrons are posted up at assorted tables and mismatched seating, each armed with some combination of coffee, ice cream, and draught beer. Classic and contemporary hip-hop echoes around the space. A friend and I swung by Melt to satisfy a wicked weekend ice cream hankering. Unable to find a list of flavors beforehand, we were surprised and pleased upon arriving that most fell on the adventurous side. Of note, Melt only offers a single size (3 scoops of only a single flavor), so we opted for 2 orders to mix and match. After a few samples, we decided on the Mexican Elote and Cochito y Cafe. Our scoops were served in Melt's signature fashion: within a Chinese takeout box and decked with a fortune cookie topper. As a whole, the ice cream was mildly gritty and intensely flavorful without hiding behind an overly sweet facade. The elote scoops had plentiful kernels of corn, with flavors contrasted by a hint of chile. Meanwhile, the coffee 'scream was heavily spiced like a chai, with gingersnap cookie chunks mixed throughout. Service was friendly and helpful, and each takeout box (probably a half-pint of ice cream) ran a hair under $8. While I've had better and cheaper ice cream, Melt's commitment to its offbeat brand was a fun experience worthy of a visit. In the future, I definitely could see myself returning for food and a brew to pair with the funky flavors.
Stopped in for coffee and breakfast on this cute street full of eateries. Unfortunately they weren't serving food as the chef was out but they did have donuts. And the barista was very apologetic and sweet we totally understood. The interior is nice and would be great for a date or catch up over some beer or coffee. The Americano was excellent. Super aromatic and tasted fantastic. It was cold and rainy and this was the perfect pick me up.
Was looking for a place to take my kids for ice cream and did not research enough. This is actually ice cream being served in a bar. They have a full dj and everything. It's pretty cool inside! The flavor options were plenty but they were close to being out of a few of them. We got vegan blueberry, a peanut brittle option, chocolate, and pink Cookie Monster. All flavors were yummy and the lady at the counter was super sweet! The ice cream was served in little Chinese food to go containers. I think they ran out because my friend got his in a cup.
I have quite a sweet tooth so when we were walking around for first Friday on Roosevelt row, we search for a place to have dessert and this was the first spot to pop up. It's a very unique spot. You walk in and it's darker inside for that chill vibe, good music and to the left there's a display of odd in animate objects which would be an interesting IG post! To the right after you order your ice cream are a some spots to sit at if you don't want to walk around eating ice cream. Love the creativity of how the ice cream is placed in a Chinese to go box. Sometimes I get pulled in just from the packaging and this won me! The best part is that the ice cream itself was flavorful and they give heaping amounts of it! Totally shareable but if you can eat a pint of ice cream, you can have your own! You can combine flavors too! Give it a shot if your around this area and you won't be disappointed!
Funky little ice cream shop in downtown Phoenix. They serve their ice cream in a Chinese takeout box with a fortune cookie. They had a decent amount of choices of hard ice cream, probably around 8. I ended up picking matcha, but they had the classics like chocolate, ice cream, mint, etc. it didn't seem like much in the way of fancy choices or toppings. But the price was very reasonable and the ambiance instead was nice - it was really eccentric, dimly lit. Not too busy and a nice place to grab a scoop after some drinks!
Pro-tip: They don't let you do half scoops/two flavors per scoop even though you kind of get two scoops worth when you order one scoop anyways. Highlights: The ice cream is really good especially the fig and cornbread flavor. They usually have a good rotation of flavors, sometimes they are sickly sweet though so it's nice if they allow samples but I think they haven't been recently due to COVID. They do offer flights which is always a win in my book. Lowlights: It's pretty pricy, but the portion is generous which is why I think they charge so much. I do wish they would just lower their prices and give a smaller scoop or allow you to order two flavors within your single scoop order.
Definitely time for an updated review and pleased to say it's just as fantastic as ever. What was once a free standing shop it is now located inside Jobot and has been for quite some time. Service was awesome and I was able to try a few samples before deciding on the fog and goat cheese with cherry. Some of you may think that doesn't sound great, but everything worked so well together. The cherries were perfect, not over sweet and a whole and the ice cream so smooth. The containers they put the ice cream in only adds to the fun. The vibe is great and music choice on point! So fun!
A fun find on visit to city and hidden gem inside a local dive bar. Solid variety of flavors and seasonal favorites served w/ some fun, inviting charm - we turned down the tattoo offer that evening. Haha! Worth the exploratory stop when in town.
Great place for some ice cream on a hot day. They had some really interesting flavors. We tried the peach basil but it was a little exotic and too basil-y for my tastes. Ended up with the mango sorbet and strawberry ice cream. The strawberry was fine but the mango was amazing! It had tiny pieces of mango which were just the right level of sweetness and had a nice texture.

My friend and I chose this ice cream shop because of the presentation. The flavors were different and more exotic, not your typical flavors. They have vegan options as well. I'm a huge chocolate fan, but there wasn't a chocolate option. I opted for a coffee chip flavor recommended by the staff as the closest flavor to chocolate, and it was pretty good. Overall, it was enjoyable and the presentation with the Chinese takeout box and fortune cookie got me sold, lol. Bottom line: Presentation is better than flavor. read more

The most unique ice cream service I've ever experienced. It's literally in a bar, no joke. The cinnamon, and prickly pear flavors were extremely good. The fruity pebble cheese cake was disappointing. The cheesecake flavor was quite light, and the fruity pebbles became an undesirable texture. read more

This is in the heart of the downtown area of Phoenix so be prepared to search for parking. We parked behind the place and walked around the block. We actually missed it the first time by. We ordered two kinds of ice cream-horchata and Mexican hot chocolate. With tip, it came to $17. That's very pricey for ice cream, but let's face it, it came with a fortune cookie in a to-go Chinese take out container! The ice cream was delicious. I can't say that I'd be a regular here, but it was a good experience. read more
They had some interesting flavors of ice cream! We tried the jalapeño lime cheesecake. It was delish! The waitress was nice and she scooped the ice cream quickly. Past customers left their trash on the tables, we had to throw it away before we sat down. Other than that is a nice hipster place to hang out read more
We had Melt on our list to try for a long time.. so long that by the time we decided to try it they had moved from their actual storefront and now have a stand in front of a coffee shop. Hey, rent can be rough, I get that. We still wanted to try the product! I will say, from the pictures of the previous place the flavor selection is far more limited. You can get a single or double scoop and that's really about it. They had some ring pops and candy cigarettes too. The girl working was super nice and took care of us quickly. We tried the peanut butter pretzel and the captain crunch berries. Both had decent flavor but the pretzel chunks and cereal chunks are naturally soggy once in the ice cream and I would have rather just had the flavor without the soggy bits. The consistency was okay. Sadly I don't know that we would return although our flavors were fine. It is sad that they have to just be a cart on the street now instead of what looked like a cool set up before. Perhaps they will find a more permanent location again in the future? read more

Great spot for ice cream, beer or some food here. We stumbled here on a sat night and it was very nice. Ice cream was very very good. I believe it was homemade. Every delicious that we can back here on sunday to try other flavors. They have pac man for free so the boys were on there and eating they ice cream. Most definitely come by and check them out and show them some love read more
I was really disappointed with my visit to Melt. Looking at the pictures, I was so excited to give it a try but with the change in location, it really is just a stand outside a coffee shop and bar. It looked as though the number of flavors had greatly decreased as well. While I was excited to try the cereal-flavored ice cream, I did not enjoy the cereal that was mixed in as it was soggy and did not add a textural crunch that I would have liked. In addition, the ice cream was icy and not creamy (they chose the wrong word to focus on). The concept is cute to serve the ice cream in a takeout carton, but the quality isn't what I expected. With all my complaints with the ice cream, it was also pricey, so I would not recommend this place for ice cream. read more

Wanted to give this place a second chance, so my boyfriend and I headed here after we got dinner downtown. Unfortunately, they lost another star in this updated review. I wanted to get three flavors (essentially chocolate, vanilla and strawberry). I was actually pretty excited because last time I was here, they had zero chocolate flavors, so I wanted to try that one for sure. Well I ordered those three and the employee told me that it's one flavor per cup. I looked over at the cartons (little Chinese restaurant to-go containers) and figured "oh it's probably just because those are small." Well I was wrong! What they do is put two HUGE scoops in there, but tell you that you can't combine scoops and get two separate flavors. So basically I nixed the strawberry and just asked her for vanilla and chocolate and ended up getting four scoops (two of each flavor) when all I was asking for was one of each. That is so asinine! She could tell I was not pleased by this and she said "Sorry. I don't make the rules." Such poor customer service. I ended up spending $20 on two cups when I should have spent half that (which is probably why they do it. Ridiculous). On top of all of that, they use the CHEAPEST spoons known to man (see my pic attached). You literally cannot scoop anything out of the container because it bends all the way backwards. And it's a freaking SOUP SPOON! Not at all practical for eating ice cream. Makes me seriously question the people who run this place. Also, this location is just freakin weird. It's a bar with mannequins and skeletons and crap. Just not at all my vibe for when I'm wanting a classic scoop shop. Maybe others think it's cool and unique, but not my thing. I'd give them one star if I could, but the ice cream really is good. If you want better customer service and a tad better ice cream, make the drive to Churn in Uptown. Can definitely say that I won't be back. read more

"Greek yogurt tastes like the ice cream they'd make in a town where dancing is illegal" ― John Oliver Here on Roosevelt Row sits a cute ice cream shop. It's small inside with no public restrooms but there is a large outdoor patio area for you to chill. There seems to be a lot of stray cats on Roosevelt Row but try not to feed them your icy treats. Cats aren't able to digest dairy after kittenhood. You'll give them an upset stomach! So cute-cumber sorbet? Yes! It's refreshing, light, and oh so sweet. I love how Melt had some seasonal offerings of pumpkin pie and more ghoulish themed names for Halloween. All ice cream are served in Chinese takeout containers and are topped with a fortune cookie. Blueberry mascarpone and cherry pistachio are some of the other flavors that caught my eye. They get an extra star for their flavor combinations alone. All in all, Melt is a cozy lil business on Roosevelt Row that you should stop by if you're in the area! read more
I scream for ice cream! After a night out, my pal and gal pals weren't quite ready to go out yet so we yelped up a dessert joint the was close by and still open that we could hit up. Thankfully we found Melt! Melt is such a cute little place, but it does its job. They sell drinks, candy, mangonadas and serves extra delicious ice cream. The packaging is so cute too, it comes in little Chinese take out boxes and includes a fortune cookie. My sister and I each got a single scoop, Cookie Monster and a Cute-cumber. Our total came out to $9.00 even. Single scoops are $4.50, double scoops are $6.00 and triple scoops are $7.50. Cookie Monster was the perfect amount of sweet and chewy from the cookie and cookie dough. Cute-cumber was a refreshing, very light, less sweet option. We both enjoyed our ice creams very much. I really like that they have a lot of different and seasonal flavors, some like zombie brains, pumpkin pie and churro. They do have a roomy outside area to sit and enjoy, none inside. They have tea lights and benches that create such a cozy ambiance. I like it here, and I can't wait to come back to try new/changing/seasonal flavors! Also: Parking is a little hard to find on busy nights, and meters are available. read more

First things first, the graphic body parts decor was very unsettling and immediately disturbed my stomach, but I pushed through and got their ice cream which was wayyy over priced...$8!! It was good the first 3 bites but nothing too special. The environment is very artsy and unique but not the best idea for an ice cream, drink, and food spot. I was getting more thrift/antique store vibes lol read more
Great spot for some good ice cream. Came here cause I liked the to-go containers and was not disappointed by the ice cream. Honestly, I do not remember what flavors I got. But everything I taste-tested was pretty good and they have a decent variety of flavors, so you can't go wrong! read more

Yummm! This was great! Definitely get the Flight. You get to taste 5 flavors for 8 dollars! Such a good deal. The ice cream was phenomenal. Super creamy. I loved the chocolate kiss, pumpkin praline, lemon sorbet, and blueberry. The green tea was good but it tasted JUST like green tea. The atmosphere is so fun. I will definitely go back! read more
Such a cute place! I live the concept here of combining multiple elements in one place. We came here for only the ice cream right after dinner down the street. YUM! It was delish and the perfect ending to our date. The staff was super friendly and gave a generous amount of ice cream, probably more then I should have indulged in! The ice cream selection was very diverse and so flavorful. I tried a few before picking my own. I had matcha, banana cream pie and strawberry cheesecake (recommended). The strawberry cheesecake was super creamy with strawberry chucks and cheesecake pieces throughout. The banana cream pie tasted EXACTLY to the name(blew my mind a little bit) and the match was my least favorite out of the three because the flavor was lacking in the light of the others. The serve the ice cream in a cute little to go Chinese food box, or a cone with three scoops each for the smaller size. The ice cream is topped with a fortune cookie, which I thought was a nice touch. We also noticed there they serve food there! It smelled absolutely amazing and the menu looks promising. They also have a full bar. Definitely coming back to try. The atmosphere is almost like a thrifty 80s vibe with old school music playing and a giant blow gorilla on the ceiling. There some cases with creepy things inside when you walk in and the the pictures hanging are eye catching. I like the retro vibe that is portrayed, definitely inviting and fun to be apart of! read more
