Onyx & Ube with Toasted Cone.
    Quinn N.

Not your typical ice cream spot but definitely a must try. Decided to go with the Onyx Coconut and Ube with the torched cone. Since it was our first try, staff was very good at explaining all our options. Even stepped out to show off toasting the marshmallow cone. Entire place has a low light vibe but not too dark. Great break from the sun.

Very unique ice cream! Was not expecting to like this place but went with my girlfriend anyways and honestly was surprised by how good it tasted. Service was okay, the girl behind the counter didn't say much but was kind. Love the vibe of the restaurant though, very low light / neon greenery vibes. Not a vegan ice cream guy but honestly will probably comeback at some point.

I dream about this ice cream!!! Checked it out while I was in town and it was incredible!! Barista/Server was super sweet and friendly. Love the flavors and coffee was great too! Great pick me up before we headed to the airport.

Oynx Coconut ($9) was just ok

This was a tiny ice cream shop located in a small plaza Parking was limited since their parking lot didn't have many spots and the lot is shared with a few other businesses. However, there is street parking available Service was friendly and welcoming. Pricing was a little expensive. Expect to pay $9 for a scoop of ice cream and matcha/coffee drinks were $4-$7 Got the Ube & Thai Tea Soft Serve ($9) - the ice cream was very sweet and creamy. The flavor of ube was quite subtle. For $9 for a scoop of ice cream, I would have expected it to have a richer ube flavor. The Thai Tea was just as disappointing and couldn't taste the flavor of Thai tea at all. This was 6/10 The Oynx Coconut ($9) was very sweet and didn't have much of a coconut flavor. It was extremely black so expect to have a black tongue after! This was 6/10 Most likely won't return or recommend unfortunately.

I love Oxyx! I went twice while visiting Phoenix and did not disappoint! My favorite was the Ube!! 10/10 recommend.

A fun space with delicious ice cream! I like how the menu changes weekly. They also have coffee!

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon while out doing a little bit of shopping. I saw this spot had some unique ice cream flavors and black ice cream cones, so we wanted to try it out. The Ube/Onyx Coconut swirl was a delicious flavor combo, the ice cream itself was just the right consistency and really hit the spot on a hot day. The cones were a bit hard, so I think if we stop by again three our of the four of us would get a cup instead. The addition of adding on toasted marshmallows is a nice touch, it smelled great and my mom loved it on her cone. My daughter tried the sea salt. It was pretty tasty as well, the salt wasn't overpowering. The décor inside is fun & cozy, when we stopped by there was no one else there so we had our choice of seating.

The soft serve here is very good but I wasn't super in love with the iced onyx matcha I'd gotten (though it came highly recommended by the server). It was very floral-y and kind of bitter. The matcha flavors didn't come through very well for my tastes. Would come back for ice cream if I was in the area! If you're sensitive to food dyes or colorings you may want to avoid this place though!

Ube + Onyx Coconut Ice Cream with Toasted Marshmallow Cone

ONYX Ice Cream is serving up unique and flavorful ice cream in the Phoenix area. This spot is located in a smaller plaza with some parking spots. There is also additional street parking and parking in nearby lots as well. Inside, they have a colorful and modern setup with a couple tables for seating. For their menu, they have their current ice cream flavors along with some drink options too. Wifey and I stopped by to briefly escape the AZ heat and opted for the Ube + Onyx Coconut Ice Cream with the Toasted Marshmallow Blackened Cone. Overall, we enjoyed the light and refreshing flavors of the ice cream. This was a great place to come grab a sweet treat to escape the heat for a while. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Make sure to stay connected with their social media to see when they rotate and introduce different flavors!

This place was fun, I really loved the colorful, modern decor around the shop. I came here with a friend on a Tuesday evening, and we were the only ones there. The owner was there and answered all of our questions and made some recommendations too! I decided to try the Thai Tea and Ube combined flavors. I also got the burnt marshmallow topping on the cone and that was really delicious! The ice cream was good! I also ordered the saguaro flavored ice cream to go, which was dairy free and that was actually my favorite flavor! There was a courtyard outside where people could hang out. Parking was available out front, but it might be harder to find parking when it's busier. Can't wait to come back!

Been going here for the past few months and it has been consistently good. Their ube js one of the best in the valley imo. The texture is also really nice. Their menu does have rotation from time to time from yuzu to thai tea and I recommend asking for a sample.

I have to leave another five star review for this place! The service here is always on point! The ice cream - I literally dream about and crave! I had he Uber torched cone this time, so so yummy This place is very instagrammable and cutesie Definitely bring your friends and family here. No one will leave disappointed

5 stars for the yummiest ice cream! Great new spot offering unique flavors such as UBE! My Hawaiian roots were so excited -- I love ube (purple yam) in desserts! We also tried the coconut, saguaro, and sea salt flavors -- all were delicious! The saguaro and sea salt swirl was bright and refreshing. The ube and coconut swirl was super creamy and comforting. The colors of the ice cream are so much fun and absolutely instagram-worthy (including their cute shop itself). Service was very kind and quick. Will be visiting again for sure!

Please offer wooden stirrers to guests and bonus points for a real spoon for those of us who don't want a paper cup. It really makes a difference. It would be criminal to use plastic. The (Sort Of) Almond Croissant An almond croissant is the secret test. It's like tasting vanilla at an ice cream store. Forget the others. This is the litmus. But before we talk almond, I had to do a double take on the receipt that thankfully I emailed myself. Because is this in Soho? West Hollywood? The Bay? How did this turn out to be $14? Because the almond croissant is $7. Say again. Never mind the best croissant spot in the West Village is less than that, but I took a bite, and oh my. I almost got up and said something. But I really was not in the mood. I had other things to attend to. Where do I start. Well, there was barely an almond to speak of. Hint of almond. The paste was like a disappearing act. But that I can handle. It was the texture. It was hard. Tasted old. Bland. Forgotten. Like someone forgot about the almonds, forgot them in the car. It was July 4th, and they remembered. I've had better croissants at airports. Ok, in the EU but you get the point. Did I just choose the wrong pastry, or the wrong day? They all looked pretty. Everyone got the berry thing. The Table My table was wobbly. Not awful but enough to be annoying. Between that and my phantom $7 almond croissant. The one left behind before someone remembered the almonds. That one. Can anyone use one of its cousins to hold up this table and fix this wobble? Might have been a better idea than breakfast. The Restroom Ok, cute idea to have a kitchen utensil as the restroom key. Nifty thought. Here's another. Can the liquid dispenser for soap be repaired or replaced? That too is wobbly and broken. You see the theme here. And dry hands. The (Bare) Display Case I had read about sandwiches. I love me an egg salad. The display case was bare. Maybe M-F? Lots of (plastic) pellegrinos. No Perrier or other sparkling in a real glass bottle. And definitely no Orangina. The Plants The plastic plants on each table. For the outdoors, sure. For an indoor French cafe table with $7 croissants, not so much. The theme again. The Staff They seemed stressed. I don't know why. When I ordered I felt more tension and rushed then a my corner pizza shop in NY. I don't get it. They tried though. Like it feels serious. High stakes. No smiles. All three not one smile. An Encore? Maybe. Overall, maybe. I don't know if I chose the wrong pastry and the wrong day. Could it be that. The Bread The bread looked good. I will give it that. And more expensive than my local bakery in NY. My Orwashers loaf purchased weekly is $12. And the slice it. And bigger. And they smile. But maybe if the bread is good, I am happy. It's hard to find good bread in Phoenix let alone this area. The Menu Please have it displayed somewhere with prices. Think that's a professional courtesy. I went online to see the menu from my phone. Or even a code to link. But something. A strange visit. Quite different than expected. I had hoped. Now I don't know. If anyone of the items mentioned are addressed for the next visit, whether the wobbly table, wooden stirrer or real spoon, or restroom soap, or even better a smile, or an almond more, I'd be vastly delighted. I'd love for this to work. There is time.

The environment is so welcoming and inclusive, and all of the staff are friendly. The restrooms are not gendered and clean as well! We don't live close, but I love every excuse I have to visit.

From the display cases, the colors, the jars they sell their quick breakfast chia seed pudding in and the furniture, it's all really nice. The coffee flavors are all there. Food that people ordered looked fresh. I'd just say that my latte was sweeter than I expected. Next time, I'd have to order it less sweet.

This year, I've visited after work with coworkers and after work alone to get more work done. Despite the limited parking out front, there is free curbside parking beside and behind the coffee shop adjacent to the nearby businesses and residential area. There is ample space inside with various types of seating and ample charging and free wifi. The front area has window counter space and couches/love seats to lounge. The back area has small tables, large tables, desks with lamps, and a love seat. My only complaint is that this large area gets pretty hot in summer afternoons without adequate AC or fans back here. It was like this last year when I previously attended the evening coffee raves. Both times upon visiting recently in daytime, I ordered the Dark Horse latte, comprised of dark maple syrup, smoked sea salt, espresso, milk. I love this latte because it's sweet but also has depth from the smokiness and saltiness. While I think the coffee is on the pricier side, I'm incredibly satisfied with my drink choice regardless. Overall limited specialty drink menu (which is what I usually care about when exploring coffee shops) but many options in general. Seems like people mostly come here to be on their laptops opposed to socializing here, which I appreciate. This is an incredible spot to work, especially since they close later in the day at 6pm, offer free wifi, ample seating, ample charging.
