Blueberry lemon or is it lemon blueberry? It's for sure delicious!

These are the BEST scones I have ever eaten! I first came across them when I was volunteering at Bella Cova and am now a die hard fan. He's got these magical soft, perfect little scones. I have to take that back - these are no where near "little" scones. They are open-palm-sized bits of heaven for your enjoyment ;) I love Fridays when I know my scone desires will be met at the Emerson-Garfield Farmers Market :]

By far the best scones I have ever had!! My journey began on a trip from California through Oregon, Washington and some bits of Idaho. We had stopped for breakfast at a local diner in Spokane Washington called Kalico Kitchen (which was also really good by the way) while I was sitting at the table with my friends and girlfriend we came across the one and only Scone Ranger! To give a better visual, local businesses run ads on the tablecloths at Kalico. He could not have chose a better non scone related picture to market these amazing treats. It is definitely eye-catching and worked perfectly with getting me to Google The Scone Ranger. After my girlfriend did a little bit of recon we found that he and his wife provide scones to local coffee companies around the area along with some Farmers market type events. After reading countless amazing reviews of the wide assortment of scones The Scone Ranger produces I had to get my hands on one. After striking out at 2 coffee shops I finally struck gold at Wake up call in Spokane near the Planet Fitness. It's quite funny the looks you get going into a coffee shop asking if they have Scone Ranger scones then proceeding to leave sad. But in this case they had just got some in stock! Due to some dietary restrictions amongst my girlfriend and Friends we cannot get any of them that had nuts, so my only option was the Orange Cranberry, to be honest I'm not a fan of citrus infused foods at all! But I decided to take a chance and purchase it.. and well... it was love at first bite!! Two big things stuck out to me during this 9-day trip, being able to take pictures of bald eagles off Coeur d'alene lake in Idaho and getting to have an amazing scone from The Scone Ranger!! But my journey did not stop there, I reached out to him through email explaining my experience and expressing questions regarding how to get my hands on some amazing scones here in California. Sure enough I got a response!! David Ainley aka The Scone Ranger was a very cool guy to talk too, super down-to-earth and very passionate about his craft. I recently purchased one dozen scones that he happily shipped to California! 1/2 orange cranberry and 1/2 orange blueberry and I could not be more pleased. 1,000,000 out of 10 recommend!! if you're not local to Spokane Washington I suggest reaching out through email or give him a call from the number on his ad, they were worth every penny!! And I look forward to purchasing more in the future!! Keep up the good work!!

There are also warm food options to order. The staff was friendly and upbeat and answered my questions about the baked goods and food. I selected the ginger crinkle and was not disappointed. It was so flavorful and rich with real ginger you could see. I came back the next day for another one. There is street parking but it can be limited when times are busy. There is space to sit and enjoy your food. And there are some neat shops to check out nearby. Highly recommend!

The quality of ingredients tasted really fresh and thoughtful, and they have a surprisingly wide variety of nutritious options. I don't have a chance to try it, but their selection of savory entree plates were very impressive (see my photos pleaseeee), and they also serve delicious soup as well. But the highlight was their baked goods, 100% gluten free at a very reasonable price for the portion and quality. This place is inside Saranac Commons, very pretty and is a good place to slow down for lunch or coffee. Staff were kind, attentive, and happy to answer questions about the menu. Definitely a place I'd come back to whenever I'm in Spokane.

The biggest issue right away was how long the food took. It felt like we were waiting forever, and by the time it finally came out, it definitely didn't feel worth it. We started with the pretzel, which honestly was nothing like a pretzel. It tasted more like glorified fried dough and didn't have that classic pretzel texture or flavor at all. For drinks, mine was way too strong and just didn't taste good. It wasn't balanced at all and ended up being hard to even enjoy. For my main, I ordered the Cascadia burger medium, but it came out clearly well done and overcooked. On top of that, the egg on it was severely undercooked.. some of the whites were still clear and slimy, which completely ruined it for me. I had also heard good things about the mac and cheese, so I gave it a try, but that was another disappointment. It was bland and runny, and even after adding salt and pepper, it still had no real flavor. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich, which wasn't terrible, but it was definitely on the dry side. They were also out of fries, so he had to get fruit instead, which was kind of disappointing. Overall, the food took way too long, the quality didn't match the price, and the experience just didn't live up to the hype at all. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

The food runner was very nice and I wish we had them as our own server! The service... 2/5. All the other servers seemed great and ours took a long time to come to us for drinks/bring drinks. Someone in our party ordered a corona and it took 15-20 min for it to be brought and it wasn't super cold. At the end of the dinner she didn't bring a box like we agreed and when I mentioned it to remind her she said in a rude tone: "yeah... im bringing it in just a second". Overall, just not a great experience in that area. Everything else made up for all of that.

EZ-PZ, right? Well, not so much. We were seated near the fireplace in a busy dining room. Took forever and part of the next day to get a glass of water before putting in beverage orders in a half-full house. Put in the food orders, she wanted the chicken, I ordered the fish. She was happy, I'll just refer you to the pictures of my fish. We can be sure I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known then what I know now. So, mixed opinions on the food. Service? Pretty much slow and spotty. We gave credit for that to our server having a nearby party-time table with a lot of people, all enjoying their libations and trying to speak over each other. We could only assume the server expected a notably larger tip, maybe. All in, not the greatest use of our dining out money. Not sure we'll go out of our way to drop in here next trip in the area.
