It was a great experience. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The environment was very nice.

The Special - 16 oz prime rib

If you go with a big group, count on your food to be room temperature. Most of our group got the special, which was a prime rib and the only person who got a warm piece got theirs well done. Everyone's 16 oz prime rib also came out all different sizes .... Where's the consistency? Obviously if a majority orders the same meal, you would compare. Waiters were also bumping into us as we were seated. ..just really annoying when you're trying to enjoy your meal. No apology either.

Lambalicious! Lamb me up baby! I don't think lamb is ever a risky item to order. Lamb never disappoints. This was incredible. On top of that, service was LITERALLY perfection. Come here if you want to be served like royalty. I will be coming back for sure! Don't ask me about desert, I didn't think to take a photo. 5/5

77/100 This place is a classic. Old school high end steak house in the same vein as Peter's close by. I've got no complaints, the service is polite, the atmosphere and decor is vintage (maybe a bit dated, but well kept) and it's quiet enough to have a conversation without raising your voice. Most of all, they've got good steak. The bone in ribeye is 24oz and easy to share, the scallops are rather large and cooked pretty well. Dessert wise, their creme brule and their cheesecake are both good. It's simple, elegant, and the kind of place I would go to as a reward for a good job at school or something when I was younger.

The school is not a place that would come to mind for most when they think of fine dining and Markham. I had heard about it for years but not been very interested until it was brought up in a conversation and was told you'd get a great meal out it. That being said, our family decided to go for my fathers' Birthday. The school is as elegant as it is traditional when it comes to fine dining experiences. As you enter the restaurant you are greeted by the Maitre d who collects your jacket for coat check. You are promptly guided towards your table in the dim lit room, renovated over from what I imagine was a 19th century home. When it comes to service they were considerate, helpful, and timely with bringing the orders to the table. However when it comes to fine dine food, I felt that the menu price did not reflect the effort of the dishes. That being said the quality of the food was not poor by any means but I could have had an amazing meal in the city for a similar price point. Maybe they like to stick to tradition of no fooling around food on a plate minimal presentation. Here's what we had: *To being they brought out pickled preserves and bread with oil; nothing out of the ordinary but a nice touch to start* Prosciutto wrapped Mozza (13$) - Three perfectly wrapped mozza prices drizzles with reduced balsamic. It was a delicious Italian rendition of fine ingredients blended together in a scrumptious gathering. Definitely a worth while dish for a small group to share. Lobster bisque with creme and congac (12$) - A simple yet delightful soup that was hearty but not over bearing with richness. Hard to taste the congac flavour but I guess i'll believe it's in there. Seared citrus Salmon fillet (35$) - My dad loves his fish so he went with this. The flavour of the fish was good and it was cooked well with a bit of rawness in the centre but felt that overall the dish sided with rice and a couple vegetables was overly simple. Seafod Linguini (42$) - With flavours of the sea like shrimp, lobster and scallop this dish pulled the ocean into a bowl with fresh pasta tossed in a light aioli sauce. Nothing over the top but the positives were the fish tasted fresh, lacking the fishy taste and served hot with the al dente pasta was a nice combination Veal Osso Bucco (45$) - Probably the most notable dish of the night. Combined with risotto and vegetables assorted, the meat fell right off the thick bone. The jus sauce was light and savoury and gave extra flavour to the meat and the risotto. The School is not a place I would go to often or consider again, my preferred experience would be something with a little more flare if I'm putting out that much money. Overall a fair meal but not something I would jump back to.

Lovely aristocratic interior and great service but their steak was a huge disappointment. I ordered the filet mignon and it came looking like a home cooked meal... On my plate had the steak, a plain baked potato, and ONE of each of a strip of pepper, carrot and bok choy. Please refer to my picture. For "fine dining" I just can't believe that is what came out of the kitchen. The sear was a bit too strong and it was not really medium rare as asked for, and I saw another person's steak they asked for medium and it looked more rare than mine etc.. I also had the lobster bisque which was nice how it came with big lobster chunks but I think their soup base is mixed with tomato cream soup a bit too much. Creme brûlée cheesecake was quite neat though.

Great service and beautiful ambience. If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion or impress business partners in Markham, the School Fine Dining is a great place. What I've had: - Creamy lobster bisque w/ cognac - Bacon wrapped filet mignon - Peppercorn steak Highly recommend the bisque and peppercorn steak. The Peppercorn steak is flamed with cognac and they sear the steak right next to your table. So hey, you get a bit of a show going on. Couldn't get enough of the steak sauce! Some more comments: - Appetizers are yummy. Love the pickled assortment with mushrooms. - We were given a free Chocolate cake for my bf's birthday. So sweet of them. Cake was perfect.

Ambience: From the exterior, the restaurant looks like a cozy and intimate spot. As I entered, I noticed the décor is dated but that may be the vibe that they want to deliver. The dining room is dimly lit contributing to a romantic ambience. Service: Our server was attentive and friendly. The level of service is what you would expect from an upscale restaurant. Food: This is an upscale restaurant in Markham but the food was not what I expected from an upscale restaurant. I ordered a steak and it was very underwhelming. My steak was very average and I can get the same quality steak elsewhere at much lower prices. Overall: I ended the meal on a mediocre note. The food was extremely disappointing given the prices here.

Old school building turned steakhouse! Very cute interior decor. Fairly good menu selection (more than other steakhouses in the area) although quite traditional. The food was good quality and the service fantastic. The wait staff also put on a nice show if you order certain menu items such as their Caesar Salad or Specialty Dessert Coffees.

This is a fine dining restaurant so don't expect to spend anything less than $50 -$100/person. We ordered a bottle of white wine which was $40, calamari and escargot to start and proceeded with entrees and dessert with coffee to finish. The appetizers were quite good; the calimari was lightly breaded had a great cripsy texture and the squid itself was perfectly cooked. The escargot was cooked in garlic and butter; was an okay dish nothing special. For mains my mom had the seafood platter which was $75 and came with a perfectly cooked lobster tail, prawns, scallops, as well as a variety of other seafood. My dad had the prime rib ($35) which came with veggies and baked potato as well as a bun, and horseradish. My sister had the top sirloin and I had the seafood linguine. I thought the seafood linguine was a bit on the salty side but it came with two large scallops, prawns, squid and more. For dessert we had the creme Brule, cheesecake and tiramisu ($8-9 each). The creme brule was delicious, by far our favourite of the three, the cheesecake was typical and the tiramisu was subpar. Overall we had a good experience here some pros and cons. It was pricey but it made mothers day extra special. The service was top notch and our server was absolutely great.

The space is beautiful & I absolutely love the high ceilings with chandeliers. The capacity varies but it can accommodate up to 700 (rounds of 10 & with dance floor). They can split the hall into 2 to fit a smaller party (minimum 140). Food - I can only write about the Chinese food as I read this in the Chinese bride section of the Frugal Bride Forum & also asked a friend who'd gone there once. The Chinese food at MEC was better than other banquet halls & the temperature & portion was decent sized as well. I dealt with Christina, who was very pleasant, accommodating and patient (especially with my future MIL). I really liked her and felt if I had my wedding here she would've taken care of a lot of things. If you plan to check this place out, talk to her! What I also love about this venue is they threw in a lot of 'freebies'. The backdrop (your choice of colour), registration table (your colour), standard 6 hour bar, wedding cake, money box, dessert table was included in the package. This is perfect for busy brides! The only bad thing? I didn't really notice it but my fiancé did not like the carpet. If you plan to keep your wedding neutral I think it will look very elegant here. Love it just too bad they did not have our date.

To me, open bar was very important to me, I have a lot of guests that love a good drink. Overall, the place is very grand, they have a high ceiling. But I do hate their carpet, they really need to do something about that. It's like green/orange color. They look like fall leaves, but in rainbow color. Everything seems to be all packaged, your cake (fake), backdrop with your names on the backboard, table clothes, and chair covers, they even come with center pieces - which is the 3 jars with floating candles. The price is decent, if you pay cash, they usually give you a discount. If you are one of those brides that can't be bothered with little details that this venue is for you. Everything is very simple, you pick the menu, pick your decor/color and you are pretty much set! I'm still unsure how I think about the manager, he seems - nice, but I just can't quite put my finger on him... The food. I had a wedding here just last weekend, and I must say... the food I have to give it a........ 2 out of 5. I really wasn't full after that meal, and the quality is pretty bad. Noise level: if you have another wedding next to your wedding - you will hear EVERYTHING they are doing. Their music, their speeches.... Service: is pretty good, overall the staff is very tentative. Open Bar: Because the bar is outside - it actually takes the attention away from the groom/bride and the party dancing inside the event. Everyone was pretty much hovering the open bar outside AND the dessert table outside. It really makes a pretty empty dance floor. I don't think I would recommend this venue to the future bride/groom. The place is decent with decent priced. But there's a few flaws about this place which is quite important to me!

Every time I say that I'm heading over to or hitting downtown Markham, it still sounds weird to me…read more I will admit that it is growing on me after a few years. Like downtown Mississauga, downtown Markham is fairly new. The notion was to create condos and have locals walk to businesses. Enterprise Boulevard is a pleasure to drive along to head there. Stores, condos, and new developments continue to be built, including York University's new Markham Center Campus in Fall 2023. Currently, York U. has YSpace Markham, which supports folks who are innovators in technology, and food, and beverage sectors. Before the pandemic, I rarely hit the downtown core. I only visited Chatime, ME-VA-ME, and Cineplex VIP. During this pandemic, I have been able to discover cool new places. Copper Branch. Comebuy. Poke Guys. South St. Burger. I love how cool the Marriott hotel looks here. One of these days, I'll need to book some time here and check it out, along with its fabulous restaurant. I am a regular bubble tea customer at Comebuy and Chatime. Who knew? I have been supporting both regularly for the past 1.5 years and have established a nice rapport with staff. There is only one Comebuy in the GTA. If I'm away for a rare couple of weeks, staff are literally concerned. One made sure before Christmas 2020 to let me know what their hours of operation were, so I wouldn't be disappointed not getting any bubble tea! There is plenty of parking. There are lots that are primarily free. I have yet to be asked to pay for parking. In front of Comebuy and Poke Guys, even where street parking isn't exactly available, parking briefly to fetch takeout is okay. I have yet to see any parking police come over and I am rarely parked longer than five minutes. There is an indoor merry-go-round at the northwest corner of Birchmount and Enterprise. I admire it from afar these days. It has been closed since the pandemic, but looked magical and festive around the Christmas holidays. Back in the summer of 2017, I came here for the Markham ribfest. It moved from Warden and highway 7 over here. I had an excellent time, despite getting caught in the rain and getting soaked trying to get to my car from the venue. I do miss seeing events downtown and hope that they return when it's safe. I like it here. It's constantly growing and changing. It's nice to briefly admire the lights in the wintertime and people-watch in the summer. (263)

The lobby had an interesting fountain surrounded by pieces of artwork, and a very large wall decorated with huge paper-like flowers. It would make a nice backdrop for pictures if you were so inclined. We made a reservation for 9:30 a.m. to try their early bird promotion of ordering any size dish (small, medium and large) for the price of $3.50 each (weekdays only). I'm not sure if it was just a quiet week, but there was only one person when we arrived. I was able to snap pictures and pick a table, any table! The dining room took me by surprise. The tables and chairs were draped with cream and gold colored linen, and the stage area was completely adorned floor to ceiling with more of the ginormous paper-like flowers, strands of crystal and upon closer look, the purple and pink fluorescent lights seem to be coming from spotlights. I liked how the ceiling was completely draped in silver colored shimmery fabric. I would describe the stage as being very dramatic and sparkly ...lol Tip #1: It is quite dim inside and my better half had to use a flashlight/magnifier from his phone to take a look at the menu ... guess he doesn't have 20/20 vision as he claims! The service was friendly and efficient, and not as rushed or impersonal as other places we've dined at. The food came quickly but not all at once, and we appreciated the flow as we ordered quite a bit. The presentation of the dishes was quite nice. The dishes we ordered tasted similar and comparable to other establishments. * Chiu Chow Dumplings * Cuttlefish in Curry Sauce * Chicken Feet in Special Sauce * Beef Tripe with Ginger & Green Onion * Rice Roll with Fish & Cilantro * Chicken Pie in Portuguese Sauce * Spring Roll with Shredded Chicken & Taro * Deep Fried Taro Dumpling * Pan Fried Dumpling with Chives * Puff with BBQ Pork A few dishes were truly a miss: * Bovine Tendons - this is one of my favorite dim sum items and I was looking forward to trying it. The tendons were very hard and chewy, and most definitely not simmered enough. My mother-in-law said to take it home and simmer it again ...lol * Sticky Rice with Preserved Meat & Dried Shredded Pork - the rice was al dente and quite bland * Baked Sago with Egg Pudding - one of my favorite desserts and the size of the bowl was quite misleading. I've always been able to share this dessert, but it turned out to be very shallow with just a few spoonfuls! My mother-in-law doesn't eat desserts, and my better half said to enjoy ...lol Overall, our dim sum was good and we enjoy trying new places. There are more items on the menu that are worth trying as well, so you will definitely find some of your tried and true, along with uniquely different dishes. Tip #2: Shout out to Emily L. for letting me know there is a 35-cent charge for each container. We were prepared and brought our own for leftovers! Thank you Emily! Price: Tea $2.00 per person Total: $55.00 + tax + tip Note: I steamed both the tendons and sticky rice for about 45 minutes at home and it made a nice light snack!

The event was a baby shower luncheon and the menu was very appropriate, with a variety of roving hors d'ouevres, salads, sandwiches, and desserts that satisfied everybody's appetite. Then the mains came after about half hour and there's all three choices of beef, chicken and fish. So I am not stuck with one. The biggest surprise were the beef and fish. As I mentioned earlier, banquet food tends to flop when it is mass produced. But not here, the beef came out soft and juicy still and the fish actually tasted good.
