Staff at the Bonvoy Lounge they are awesome. Pay a little extra to gain access to the Lounge

We stayed here again during a recent roadtrip. This Marriott was exactly what I wanted in Marriott hotel. The only thing that could've made our stay better was if they were able to upgrade my wife and I to a better room. Unfortunately, we showed up during the week of Candian Thanksgiving when they were busy. Despite the lack of upgrades, the front desk was nice to me. They still gave us a nice room with a king bed as we reserved. My wife and I had no complaints about the room. They also greeted me every time I passed by. This hotel has a M Club Lounge for Marriott Platinum and above memebers. Breakfast and evening appetizers are served daily. Harold, the manager, does a wonderful job running the club. The foods served in the M Club is very good, not "Bonvoyed" down. During the evenings, we noticed that they served quite a few Asian dishes. Harold took the time to speak to me and other guests. The gym is one of the best gyms in in America. It has both cardio and anaerobic equipment. The equipment is well maintained. It was almost like my home gym while traveling. This is a nice hotel for my wife and I. We like it and plan on coming back. read more

The rooms are nice but the real problems are in the bathroom. When we got inside the room the shower was evidently moldy. Also, the room was very dusty, it was somewhat unbearable. I didn't have any room service so I can't give my opinion on it. The beds were comfortable and when we left to explore the area we came back to the room with newly made beds and fresh pillows. This happened every time left and came back, it was very nice to get a refreshed room. Finally, the staff was very nice when we came in , helped us take our stuff up to our room too. Overall the hotel is nice but the bathrooms need better upkeep with the mold, and the rooms need to be less dusty. Not trying to hate on this hotel, just trying to give some constructive criticism and feedback. Although the shower was moldy and the room was dusty it didn't completely ruin my trip and I did like the room other than that. I hope this was helpful if you're planning a trip to Markham or Toronto, I would say though that I wouldn't recommend the hotel to my friends and/or family if they were sensitive to the mold. read more

Love staying at this hotel! It has been one of our favorites throughout the years. We've been coming to Markham/Toronto for food trips since 2015 and have stayed at many hotels. This is by far the best one. It's very clean, has a parking garage, and has great amenities. They also have a great restaurant in the hotel called Draco. read more

We stayed here for Memorial Day Weekend and we generally enjoyed our stay. This spot is situated very close to a lot of Cantonese/Chinese restaurants. The space is quite clean, and staff was very friendly. Room: we were on the seventh floor and booked "two Queens" which looked more like what Americans would call "full" sized beds. The mattresses were relatively saggy and on the older side. The room could use one more light in the middle of the room near where the television was. The barn door leading to the restroom was too heavy for my wife/kids and would not lock. This definitely made it lose one star. The little couch on the side is a nice touch, and our 2 year old son enjoyed sleeping there in the corner. Amenities: the "M Club" served a limited selection for breakfast that got the job done. I like how it's open 24/7 to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Members with snacks, water, and juice available for the taking without anyone supervising. Treat people like adults and they will act like adults. Good move, Marriott. Parking is $20 Canadian per day. I always drove all the way up to level 5 to stay away from the possibly crazy. The lot itself can get pretty tight if you rented/drove an SUV/Minivan. I never went to the pool but my daughter and wife enjoyed their time there. I may try the suite out next time around. read more

Stayed at the hotel this holiday and overall it was great. The room was clean and designed efficiently. The staff were polite and helpful. Kids had a great time in the pool. Things were working and water temperature was great. They are jets in the pool for lap swimming. And the hot tub was great as well. The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is because the guide in the TV was all wrong. Such a nightmare when watching tv. This is probably I am a cord cutter but that's my only real compliant. Great work Marriott. read more

My Son is staying here on New Year's Eve! He invited his mom and I to spend time with him at Toronto Marriot Markham. He's a Titanium member which got him hotel perks that I definitely don't qualify for, nevertheless, there's no shame in coattail surfing. It's a beautiful hotel with many ammenities for visitors. Staff are friendly and want to make sure his stay is memorable. We plan to ring in the new year with live music and fireworks at the Markham NYE Party in the Square. read more

Great overall experience! Room service needs a better menu, they couldn't deliver a steak meal to the room. Laundry service needs to be faster, I had a simple request to clean one days worth of laundry, and they said it would take 48 hours to process, so I had to wear dirty clothes for my flight back home. No convenient coin laundry service nearby. Impeccably clean rooms, very friendly front desk. The employees are very well trained and take pride in providing excellent customer service. Overall a 5 star experience, but knocking one star off simply because room and laundry service could be improved. read more

Toronto Marriott Downtown is the ultimate Staycation Hotel in Markham. Location is great as it is right at Downtown Markham! Walking distance to the newest entertainment complex just across the street. The interior is chic and trendy. I had frequented the Lobby Bar Draco which is probably the only Cocktail lounge in Markham. The 2 Queen room is spacious. The decor is modern. Best part is all the charging outlets around the room! So many different customization of the lighting in the room to suit your need: it did take a little while for us to figure out. Amenities is A plus with a infinity swimming pool. A must for staycation. I ended up taking VIVA to Toronto the next morning. There is a bus station right in front of the hotel which has direct bus to Finch Station during rush hours. Super convenient! Parking though at $20 for overnight guests is pretty high for a hotel located outside of Toronto downtown core. read more

Stayed at the Marriott Markham hotel for two nights and had a fantastic stay. Staff are friendly and the hotel is super clean. The hotel accommodates pets which is a plus when you are travelling with your furry friend. The indoor pool and hot tub were fantastic. Decent size and very clean. The Markham Marriott is located in downtown Markham, central to lots of locations. The rooms are gorgeous and feels like home. This Marriot is a newer hotel that is more for business that offers the added perks such as the lobby restaurants and M-Club. The rooms are masculine yet modern with wood fixtures and clean hardware and finishes. I prefer newer hotels like this that are minimalist and easy to get relaxed into. The staff are super nice and helpful from the front desk to housekeeping, everyone is there to make sure you are happy and well taken care of. The workout gym is clean and offers an excellent variety of equipment for your entire body. There are flat screen televisions throughout and a nice view of the outside. The infinite pool is also a winner for guest who like to swim or want to relax poolside. Self parking is available and is free for Marriott Perks members. read more

Beautiful hotel in downtown Markham. Service is top notch. Titanium and up get complimentary parking. Either way you provide your license plate upon check-in. I was automatically upgraded to their M level on the 4th floor. Spacious 2 queen bed with a terrific long desk area, great for groups of 3-4. Everyone gets table space to put their stuff and not feel claustrophobic in the room! However, make sure your comfortable hearing all the bodily fluids that go in the the bathroom, not much sound proofing here. And also you can see the silhouette of a person showering if someone walks by the bathroom. The shower handles are awkwardly placed in the middle of shower so you might find yourself accidentally knocking your elbow on the handle. I love the wrap around mirror in the bathroom. It makes the bathroom seem larger and much nicer. The room offers a mini fridge, plenty of hanger space and cabinet space, lots of outlets too. If you forget any toiletries they offer great toothbrush/colgate set, cotton balls, sewing kit, shaving kit, comb. The M Club offers breakfast everyday while happy hour and dessert occur Sunday-Thursday. Decent food offerings at the lounge. The swimming pool is posh and the fitness facilities caters to every gym goer. read more

Fellow hotelier here. The property is in a very convenient location with loads of food options. I will say that the service was sub par, not sure if it was just timing or poor training. Lobby bar attendant rudely stated "we're closed" when I walked in to sit down for a drink. There was a group of people sitting down at the bar but I guess they were employees since the person who said that they were closed was with them. Didn't offer other options and wasn't nice about it. The front desk agent was not sure if the rooms had a mini bar. A bit odd. The rooms were nicely appointed and upgraded but just a bit dark for me. Overall a good stay, there's just some training opportunity. read more

Toronto Marriott Markham - Beautiful modern hotel - Hotels Near Me - Markham, Ontario

I came here for a business trip in December and really enjoyed my stay (as much as one can enjoy a week long trip away from home/family). The hotel is very new and was very clean. The staff were all very friendly and always greeted me when I walked through the front door. My room was nice, I appreciated the large bathroom counter and shower space. There was plenty of space to spread out my suitcase, hang my work clothes and even had separate tables for workspace and eating. The restaurant also serves delicious food. The breakfast buffet was really good. However, it is quite expensive, but that didn't matter to me since my company was paying! Only regular coffee is included in the buffet price, I had to pay extra for a cappuccino. I also ate dinner here once, sat at the bar. Again, expensive but that wasn't an issue for me. The dinner was also really good and they had some good wine selections, too. My only complaint here was that the room was a little cold at night. Granted, I was here when the temperature outside was below freezing, so that might have played a role too. But it would have been nice if the thermostat didn't max out at 80F. Even at 80F I still woke up once or twice at night shivering. Overall, it wasn't that huge of a problem though. read more

A clean luxurious hotel located in the centre of Downtown Markham. This hotel gives me a warm feeling when walking into the front lobby; also every person who works there gives me a great vibe. I wanted to have my wedding here at the Marriott downtown Markham but I've encountered such terrible service. They're quite new and just opened last year. I initially called the front desk to to inquire about getting in touch with someone to help me with my wedding planning. They were good to help me direct to someone and even gave me an email. However, this email is completely invalid and no such person. Even the website doesn't have much info about weddings but they do offer this service. So couple days go by and I had to call again... they gave me a sales management contact nalae which was great at first, even gave me her cell and everything so that I could contact her quickly. I don't know if it's cause their super new and overwhelmed with the workload but she was super unorganized. I had to call several times and even left voicemails. I went to view the hotel myself and the parking was horrible design. It's separated from The lot right across. I parked upstairs and they had signs towards the hotel but they were not clear and took us some time to get there even from just across the place! The elevators were out of service... didn't they just open? Shouldn't those elevators be new and working? So we emailed back and forth. She says she's busy and her phones out of battery.....she did send me a last email about packages and once I called back left a voicemail I haven't heard from her since. I don't know if she personally did not want my business. I don't know but that's really disrespectful by not getting back to me almost 5 days later... nothing. Honestly if she didn't want my business she could have been upfront and tell me instead of "ghosting" me. (Like oh I'm just going to ignore her maybe she'll go away) I'm already stressed as it is wedding planning and this was just a horrible experience. read more

I was impressed with the cleanliness and attentive staff. The rooms are perfect for work trips or extended stays. I love when hotels have limited carpeting - this is one of those hotels. There is a parking garage next to the hotel with convenient parking access. The platinum lounge is very nice here as well. Draco is a great food option that is located within the hotel. There is also a Whole Foods nearby if you want to grab snacks for your trip or a dinner at the hot/salad bar. read more

came here for a conference/training session and man it was a weird visit to say the least. getting into this hotel/parking lot is a nightmare, coming from the west, you literally have to pass the hotel and backtrack via a left hand turn or a direct u-turn due to the median running along the road. (when i visited there was also reduced lanes, which just added to the frustration) parking here was OK, the whole theme of the garage was music themed which was a nice change in comparison to other bland garages, if you are visiting the hotel you only have levels 3-5 for parking, as the levels above and below are for other usage, not tied to the hotel. also the garage is not attached to the hotel whatsoever, and sure enough when i came here it was raining, when i got inside the hotel i was instantly greeted by someone, and was advised to take the staircase up to the training room, when we got to the training/conference room i couldn't help but notice there was a hole in the wall, isn't this hotel new? i thought to myself, not a big hole by any means, but enough to notice it...we didn't receive WiFi services until almost half way through the day, and the staff member in charge of room was pretty confused on what to do and how to set it up, when i tried to approach the front desk about this issue as well i was told very bluntly that the WiFi setup for our conference room was not her issue. the food that we had for lunch was some of the best food I've had in my life, curried quinoa, a wonderful coleslaw salad and some deli style sandwiches, and was honestly the highlight of the visit. the hotel corridors are nicely designed with a music theme throughout to the whole hotel, which was really nice to see, i also wandered around and saw that they had other rooms which would be nice "hall style" venue for a wedding or a large gathering. for such a new hotel i thought that maybe these issues wouldn't be present, but this is what i experienced. i don't know that i would ever stay at this hotel with the service and quality of the building that i received, they have a lot of niche things going for them, but i don't know if that pulls me in as a customer. read more

This place is just beautiful and though it is still very new (2 years old) it also provided excellent service. I was able to have items sent up from concierge within 30 mins every time, which is much quicker than I'm used to at other hotels! Service was excellent! Overall cleanliness was not bad. I have some doubts on whether they changed the sheets and towels on time, I would have preferred our sheets had been more fresh when we first arrived. Which is why I give this a 4 star rating. However they did change them into fresh sheets as soon as I asked. Zehra at the Draco restaurant is just the best, such kind, honest and funny service! Thank you for taking care of us Zehra! I'm wrapping up my second stay here, so I figured it's about time to post a review. I'll start off with the (minor) downside - Markham is far from the cosmopolitan environment some may seek out, but you would never know that being inside the building, from the modern feel and solid amenities. There are a few restaurants on the block (including Ruth's Chris) and a movie theater, but not much else within walking distance. Lobby/entrance: You can tell this hotel is very new - everything is clean and the design is very contemporary. As you walk into the lobby, there is a nice fragrance that greets you (although if you're very sensitive to smell, it may be offputting). The staff is very friendly, greeting you on your way in as well as on your way out. The lobby area is open and inviting, and though I didn't use the lobby bar or restaurant, it looked like a trendy place to relax. Room: I've stayed in a suite both times, since I'm essentially working out of my room. The room is very spacious and comfortable - clean wood floors, plenty of sitting/working area, and nice views of the surrounding area from the floor to ceiling windows. There is separate climate control for the living room and bedroom, which has been very helpful during this wintertime visit. The bathroom is very nice, but the small gripe I have this time is that the shower head points at the shower door, so the bath mat gets soaked by the time you're done cleaning up. Amenities: The gym is very new, and has pretty much everything you need for a full body workout. Multiple treadmills, stationary bikes, free weights, pulley machine, leg press machine, and plenty of mirrors in which to admire yourself. You can also look out the windows at the people working out at the Goodlife Fitness across the street (and they can probably look at you). I haven't used the pool, but I stuck my head in to check it out, and it's a pretty swanky looking setup. Probably not a good exercise pool (seems like it was heated), but maybe good for a relaxing swim/soak. Overall: While it's not placed in the most exciting surroundings compared to a big city, this hotel is beautiful and the staff is friendly, which go a long way to combat the cabin fever I would normally get staying in a hotel room for long stretches of time. I enjoyed my stays here and will definitely be coming back when I'm in Markham. read more

I worked a brutal, brutal week in Markham. And as I've told a few people, if I'd been putting in the stress and hours that I was, and then "coming home" to a run down Towneplace or something, that would have just been an extra little bit of soul crushing. Fortunately, this Marriott was really reasonably priced, and really really nice. Beds were comfy (I was sleeping like the dead, what little sleep I was getting) and the rooms were clean and nicely appointed (no repeat of the filthy shower from the Marriott St. Petersburg). Breakfast in the club lounge was nice every morning, I particularly enjoyed the "homemade" granola bars, which I typically grabbed for a mid morning snack if they were available as I was walking out. The restaurant and bar, which I reviewed separately, were quite nice as well, a great option for me getting back to the hotel late and being too lazy to go anywhere else for dinner. But the staff was really exceptional. After three nights in a row, getting back to the hotel at 2am or so and seeing the same night staff each time, I asked at the front desk (while extending my stay) what time the restaurant closed, and was met with the most heartwarming, genuinely concerned offer to have them make food for me and hold it until I could get back to the hotel. I've...never had the hotel staff be concerned that I wasn't eating enough. So, mad points to Chanelle (I hope I spelled that right) at the front desk - that little gesture honestly made my day. Other staff were similarly accommodating - super friendly, quickly recognized me (although I was the idiot getting back as 2am every night, so probably easy to remember). Just a little thing that I honestly really needed as a highlight during that week. Not sure if I would be back in the area any time soon, but I would not hesitate to stay here again - just a very pleasant experience that brightened up an otherwise pretty crappy week. read more

The hotel met my needs and especially during a pandemic time. The check in staff at around 3pm needs to BE RE TRAINED for proper customer service. That is not how you image the Mariott Brand. The check in lady was rude when we were asking questions about the pool and gym she cut us off and said your check in is done please proceed to elevators. I was asking about the pool use and was told it was limited entry and one would need to book a reservation for the hour of the hour. As it was nearing 4pm we asked for 4pm she said full which was fine. We then proceeded to ask if we can get the 5pm. and she said no although its available i can't book you until you call back from your ROOM at 4:55PM. Who the frig does appointments at the last 5 minutes of the hour. Mariott please fix your policy on this or re-train this person. She wanted to get rid of us we were asking too many questions. Like it's Covid be happy you got customers staying. Yeesh the 4* Hotel gives snobby attiutude all came from this one associate gave us a sour taste in our mouths. We asked for a late checkout and was told this is a Mariott Brand hotel we only do requests for customer who book directly with us because you booked from a 3rd party we are unable to honor such requests. Like WOW seriously i thought i was dreaming or something cause this is just whack. Let me tell the check in lady we asked the night staff and they gave us the late check out no problem!!. Aside from the rude check in lady. Everyone else was pleasant and easy to work with. The hotel was clean and spacious. The beds were soft. We did not have a chance to use the pool or gym thought it was just a complete hassle so didn't use. I would look elsewhere as they do charge for Parking and internet, For Markham area this should be free. But given this hotel is new and under the 4* banner charging for these things is normal. read more

This is a brand new hotel, and in some ways it shows for the better while in some ways it shows for the worse. When you arrive, there is a parking garage right across the drive from the hotel, but I used valet so I'm not sure of the pricing for that. Speaking of valet, they seemed a little bit unsure of themselves. They forgot to ask my last name when I checked in so it made car retrieval a bit more difficult. They never really checked my ticket when I walked up to the car. The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating. They seemed very appreciative of me being there and the manager asked me every day how my stay was going. Full disclosure: I am a Platinum Elite member at Marriott so I like the hotel chain as a whole, but this was one of the few properties that actually read my profile requests and delivered extra towels and pillows to the room (more my wife's request, but still)! The property is gorgeous, but besides a few restaurants and a gym, there's not a whole lot within walking distance. Markham seems to be a booming area, though. It's about 25 minutes from the airport in light traffic. The rooms were obviously updated and modern. The restaurant was different than most Marriott menus, but for the better. The shrimp poke bowl was great at $17, although the 3 extra shrimp that cost $8 was a little bit of an extreme upcharge. I will stay here again when I'm in town. read more

Excellent hotel located in the newly built Markham downtown. The price is fairly cheap at off season. Overall, the facility is very new and tasteful decorated. The lobby area is very open and inviting. We had a few drinks at the bar and the servers were very nice. The staff at the front desk and valet parking was exceptional. They were very efficient and professional. Just three issues I had with my stay and it all have to do with the facility: 1. I chose to park my car in the garage rather than valet park. The structures were separated by an open space like 200 feet. It wouldn't be an issue if the sun was out, but it happened to be sleeting. Some covered walkway would be nice 2. The design of the bathroom created a peep show situation. Someone on the outside can see the silhouette of the person taking a shower. The overhead light in the shower highlights all the curvatures. 3. The mattresses are way soft. I aggravated my back pain. read more

Don't do it! Their newness shows through. As a traveler who spends well over 150 nights each year at Marriott properties, the staff here as well as management has a lot to learn about the hospitality industry. The elevator in the self-parking structure was out of service for several days during my stay. The concierge let me know that it was back in service on day three and that I could park the next day, which I did. The elevator was fine in the evening when I arrived, but was again out of service the next morning. Climbing six flights with several boxes for a presentation that day was not fun. I experienced several other issues at the property and voiced concerns to Marriott. No one responded from the property for over a week. Their M Club lounge is poorly attended and ran out of continental breakfast items virtually every day. I could understand if they were fully booked and overwhelmed with guests; the M Club had fewer than 10 people there any morning, even at 630 when they opened up. read more

I was disgusted by the service at the Marriott Markham. First of all, they sent the engineers into my room to change the filters of the AC without any early notice. I was notified hours after they have finished the maintenance when I presented myself at the counter for some other issues. Second of all, I have clearly stated before registering that I don't want any one, under no circumstance, entering my room, not even for cleaning. As of their arguments, a lady of the front desk said that they tried to reach me through the guest line but no one were there. As they did not have other means of communication, they decided to send their staff anyways. Adding to that, she argued that the hotel holds the right to send their employees to the guests' rooms if there were any case of emergency. Really? For an AC filter? Let's take a step back. Even if you had the right to, you could've still asked for my permission before intruding upon. You could have reached us through email and whatsoever. This is absolutely ridiculous, especially under the circumstance of Covid. No one can guarantee that your employee nor your previous guests were safe. With that being said, they are not respecting the instruction and directives during the pandemic because they allowed themselves to intrude upon their guests' private spaces (which according to them are not). The front desk associates have not done their job properly as they didn't do everything they could to reach their guests. I will try to post this on the Covid-19 updates page on Facebook in order to reach out to more people. Please feel free to repost this on any page similar to this one to bring attention. Thank you. read more
