    Pool with the jets on.
    Anthony F.

Stayed at the hotel this holiday and overall it was great. The room was clean and designed efficiently. The staff were polite and helpful. Kids had a great time in the pool. Things were working and water temperature was great. They are jets in the pool for lap swimming. And the hot tub was great as well. The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is because the guide in the TV was all wrong. Such a nightmare when watching tv. This is probably I am a cord cutter but that's my only real compliant. Great work Marriott.

Toronto Marriott Downtown is the ultimate Staycation Hotel in Markham. Location is great as it is right at Downtown Markham! Walking distance to the newest entertainment complex just across the street. The interior is chic and trendy. I had frequented the Lobby Bar Draco which is probably the only Cocktail lounge in Markham. The 2 Queen room is spacious. The decor is modern. Best part is all the charging outlets around the room! So many different customization of the lighting in the room to suit your need: it did take a little while for us to figure out. Amenities is A plus with a infinity swimming pool. A must for staycation. I ended up taking VIVA to Toronto the next morning. There is a bus station right in front of the hotel which has direct bus to Finch Station during rush hours. Super convenient! Parking though at $20 for overnight guests is pretty high for a hotel located outside of Toronto downtown core.

This Marriot is a newer hotel that is more for business that offers the added perks such as the lobby restaurants and M-Club. The rooms are masculine yet modern with wood fixtures and clean hardware and finishes. I prefer newer hotels like this that are minimalist and easy to get relaxed into. The staff are super nice and helpful from the front desk to housekeeping, everyone is there to make sure you are happy and well taken care of. The workout gym is clean and offers an excellent variety of equipment for your entire body. There are flat screen televisions throughout and a nice view of the outside. The infinite pool is also a winner for guest who like to swim or want to relax poolside. Self parking is available and is free for Marriott Perks members.

Beautiful hotel in downtown Markham. Service is top notch. Titanium and up get complimentary parking. Either way you provide your license plate upon check-in. I was automatically upgraded to their M level on the 4th floor. Spacious 2 queen bed with a terrific long desk area, great for groups of 3-4. Everyone gets table space to put their stuff and not feel claustrophobic in the room! However, make sure your comfortable hearing all the bodily fluids that go in the the bathroom, not much sound proofing here. And also you can see the silhouette of a person showering if someone walks by the bathroom. The shower handles are awkwardly placed in the middle of shower so you might find yourself accidentally knocking your elbow on the handle. I love the wrap around mirror in the bathroom. It makes the bathroom seem larger and much nicer. The room offers a mini fridge, plenty of hanger space and cabinet space, lots of outlets too. If you forget any toiletries they offer great toothbrush/colgate set, cotton balls, sewing kit, shaving kit, comb. The M Club offers breakfast everyday while happy hour and dessert occur Sunday-Thursday. Decent food offerings at the lounge. The swimming pool is posh and the fitness facilities caters to every gym goer.

I came here for a business trip in December and really enjoyed my stay (as much as one can enjoy a week long trip away from home/family). The hotel is very new and was very clean. The staff were all very friendly and always greeted me when I walked through the front door. My room was nice, I appreciated the large bathroom counter and shower space. There was plenty of space to spread out my suitcase, hang my work clothes and even had separate tables for workspace and eating. The restaurant also serves delicious food. The breakfast buffet was really good. However, it is quite expensive, but that didn't matter to me since my company was paying! Only regular coffee is included in the buffet price, I had to pay extra for a cappuccino. I also ate dinner here once, sat at the bar. Again, expensive but that wasn't an issue for me. The dinner was also really good and they had some good wine selections, too. My only complaint here was that the room was a little cold at night. Granted, I was here when the temperature outside was below freezing, so that might have played a role too. But it would have been nice if the thermostat didn't max out at 80F. Even at 80F I still woke up once or twice at night shivering. Overall, it wasn't that huge of a problem though.

came here for a conference/training session and man it was a weird visit to say the least. getting into this hotel/parking lot is a nightmare, coming from the west, you literally have to pass the hotel and backtrack via a left hand turn or a direct u-turn due to the median running along the road. (when i visited there was also reduced lanes, which just added to the frustration) parking here was OK, the whole theme of the garage was music themed which was a nice change in comparison to other bland garages, if you are visiting the hotel you only have levels 3-5 for parking, as the levels above and below are for other usage, not tied to the hotel. also the garage is not attached to the hotel whatsoever, and sure enough when i came here it was raining, when i got inside the hotel i was instantly greeted by someone, and was advised to take the staircase up to the training room, when we got to the training/conference room i couldn't help but notice there was a hole in the wall, isn't this hotel new? i thought to myself, not a big hole by any means, but enough to notice it...we didn't receive WiFi services until almost half way through the day, and the staff member in charge of room was pretty confused on what to do and how to set it up, when i tried to approach the front desk about this issue as well i was told very bluntly that the WiFi setup for our conference room was not her issue. the food that we had for lunch was some of the best food I've had in my life, curried quinoa, a wonderful coleslaw salad and some deli style sandwiches, and was honestly the highlight of the visit. the hotel corridors are nicely designed with a music theme throughout to the whole hotel, which was really nice to see, i also wandered around and saw that they had other rooms which would be nice "hall style" venue for a wedding or a large gathering. for such a new hotel i thought that maybe these issues wouldn't be present, but this is what i experienced. i don't know that i would ever stay at this hotel with the service and quality of the building that i received, they have a lot of niche things going for them, but i don't know if that pulls me in as a customer.

This hotel is wonderful for a quick stay! The staff is very helpful and friendly. The drinks at the bar is amazing. The food quality was super surprisingly excellent quality cooked to perfection

We checked out a few other venues, but non-hotels didn't provide the convenience that we wanted and some of the other hotels didn't look quite as good. Location wise, it was perfect. It sits right beside the 407, which was amazing for our out-of-town guests. It's also on Hwy 7 and Warden, which is good for local guests. The wedding probably couldn't have gone much better than it did, outside of the things that our Wedding Planner dealt with. Staff were extremely nice. One of our wedding party guests had a very restrictive diet at the time, so she couldn't have anything on the menu, but one of the staff managed to get her something. They brought out food in a very timely manner and everything we ate, and tasted the year prior, was great! We had a minor mishap where we couldn't find the rest of our wedding cake, but they found it late at night. There are also plenty of placed to take photos - the stairs in the lobby, the outdoor garden, and the rooms themselves. I know some parties like to use the area across the street too since it's mostly an open field, as long as there's no Canadian Geese. The room we had was also very nice, and they were able to set accommodations for us to stay an extra night too. All our guests that wanted to stay were able to also book rooms there at a small discount. Rooms were well kept and comfy. Parking was included with our group. Overall, a great place to go for both a room to stay, and an event for your loved ones.

They do have complimentary coffee, hot water, and tea bags near the front desk; this was a welcomed addition as a snow storm hit during my stay. The small fridge and microwave does come in handy if you are staying a few days. The room was pretty clean and spacious, but the curtains don't close all the way; I normally wouldn't care, but my room was on the second floor and people outside can easily look right into your room. Another annoyance is that it can be difficult to find parking in the evening as the lot isn't that large and spaces in the front are partially taken up by the hotel next door. I like the look of the large glass walls of the shower, but there is a huge design flaw as the swinging door collects splashes and the water starts to leak out onto the bathroom floor. They do provide a towel on the door, so I guess they are aware of this issue. Overall, I did enjoy my stay. The drawbacks weren't serious, and the friendliness of the staff were top notch. I wouldn't mind staying here again in the future.

I pulled into the back parking lot which you have to register and pay for if you're a guest. There is a parking station out back but don't use that as it's way cheaper staying as a hotel guest. At front desk, they had a pretty decent sized lineup but they got through it pretty quickly. They asked if I checked in and I let them know when they were under a different name. They told me they actually have 2 hotels here which is confusing but confirmed that I had stayed here before. Front desk staff were really nice to me. They let me know that breakfast is included. I headed to my room and got settled. The room I had was pretty bright from all the natural light. The room has a tv, desk and a fridge. If you want to stay in the same building and get a free breakfast, choose the Towneplace Suites. Tips: - If you stay 5 nights or more, parking can be credited. - If you are Marriott Bonvoy Gold or higher, the gift can be $10 credit each night in the market - but keep in mind they charge tax in the market when considering pricing :) === 2. ROOMS Having stayed in double Queen and single King rooms: the rooms are updated and comfortable. The beds are decent, the linens in reasonable shape. LED lighting is available from the entrance with the mirrored sliding closet doors to the room and underlit desk area, and around the room which includes a couch, small. fridge and more. The HVAC is centrally controlled, though I found there is a switch on the unit that lets the unit produce only heat or only cold. The windows do not open in any way and the curtains are handy to stop the outdoor heat/cold as well as some of the low-level traffic noise. The bathrooms are fine; the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are available in pumps in the shower, but like may other hotels, there are not nearly enough places to hang a hand towel or bath towel. There is a decent-sized LCD TV though there is no digital TV guide available so get ready to keep flipping :) === 3. COMMON AREAS The lobby is modernized with the ability to print out boarding passes. The restaurant area is nice with a small business centre. The pricing is love-it-or-hate-it like all other Courtyards; might I suggest any one of the nearby eateries? The market beside the front desk has a selection of items but they charge tax and/or it's not complementary unlike some other Marriott properties. There are conference ballrooms downstairs along with a small gym that has free weights and some cardio machines. === 4. SERVICE Service is prompt and professional at the front desk. I had an issue with my latest room where in the desk light tube could not be turned on reliably and the HVAC seemed not to cool. They responded right away, but ultimately couldn't fix the light. But at least they tried, twice. === 5. ENVIRONMENT Overall, it looks like the place was modernized in the last 5-10 years. There is a Chinese chain restaurant and a spa on one end of the building. Parking is a little interesting: it's outside along the edge of the property or it's in old, strangely structured parking garage where it's $6 per night (unless you stay 5 nights in a row).

The Canadian law is almost identical to the American law in that there is no certification or documentation that is standard or required, some doctors provide it based on the type of dog you have, if it's for a severe medical condition. I tried to explain this to the man at the front desk, he then told me that I had to provide it and that because they are a private establishment, he could refuse me. I explained to him that because they are a business open to the public, what he said is not true. He then brought out a memo that said three things, either they need to have a visible disability, two, needed to provide a service dog card if they had one, or three if they had a non-visible disability, they needed to explain that the dog is task trained, and the dog needs to be under control at all times. He thought it had to be all three, not one of the three. I tried to explain that to him and he told me I was wrong. Then, when I explained my dog was trained in the US and many trainers don't provide that, not to mention some Canadian trainers don't and that owner trained service dogs (which would then not have a trainer certification) are acceptable in Canada, he said that the Canadian law didn't apply to me, because I'm not Canadian. I asked him if laws applied to people in Canada, and he said yes, but not to me because I'm American. I then asked to speak to the manager, who apologized and explained that they do ask for documentation, though it's not required. She just asked that I check in with the dog, though the manager who checked me in saw Biscuit. I literally got told today by someone who doesn't understand the law, that the law they didn't know existed couldn't apply to me, and he was exceptionally nasty about it.

Vacated mid-stay due to a plumbing emergency. Room 414 (Apr 27) -- First replacement. Significantly smaller, double queens, none of the original amenities. Room 201 (Apr 27-29) -- Second replacement. King bed but smaller, no kitchenette, no tub. Suffered a second plumbing failure on Apr 28 and sewage odor Apr 28-29. Room 204 (Apr 28) -- Temporary room provided solely so I could access a working shower. Room 212 (Apr 29) -- Staff physically unlocked this room for me to shower. When I returned, the door had been shut. Staff re-opened it -- and we discovered it was occupied. A female guest was in the process of changing. Hotel staff had twice granted me access to another paying guest's room. Room 203 (Apr 29) -- Final alternative after the Room 212 incident. Had the same sewage odor. Completely unusable. What went wrong: The lobby and pool were under active renovation my entire stay. I wasn't told until one day before arrival, despite booking months in advance. Had I known, I would have stayed elsewhere. The hotel's solution was to bus guests to a nearby Sheraton for pool access -- not acceptable. One elevator was out of service for an extended period. I have a medical condition affecting my knees. Repeatedly climbing multiple flights of stairs was a genuine physical hardship. Renovation appliances including microwaves were stored in the hallways throughout my stay -- a safety hazard and well below any brand standard. On April 27, I was forced to vacate my original suite mid-stay due to a plumbing emergency. Every replacement room offered was a downgrade. At no point was I given a room that matched what I had booked and paid for. Room 201 was placed directly above the active pool construction. On April 28 -- my birthday, the entire reason for this trip -- I was woken at 8:20 AM by loud drilling. Later that same morning, the hotel called to inform me that Room 201's shower, sink, and toilet would be out from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Nearly nine hours without basic water access. Upon returning to the room that evening, there was a sewage smell coming from the bathroom. It was still there the next morning. The Room 212 incident is the most serious failure of this entire stay. Staff directed me to and physically unlocked an occupied guest room -- not once, but twice. This is an egregious breach of guest privacy and safety that should never have been possible under any operational circumstance. When I raised the issue of my 60,000 IHG points used for my April 23-25 reservation, the property manager told me she did not have the authority to process a points refund and directed me to contact IHG corporate. I did exactly that -- and IHG corporate confirmed that she does have that authority. She had the ability to resolve this at the property level and instead chose to send me on a deliberate runaround. That is not a miscommunication. That is a manager using a false claim to avoid accountability. The hotel offered a partial refund of $147.70 against an original charge of $606.92 -- and only before the most serious incidents had even occurred. IHG denied my formal points refund request.
