What appeared to be a couple slices of Great Value sandwich bread with the crusts cut off making the sandwich slightly larger than a credit card. Beer-Battered fries are nice. Dang near top-notch. Quesadilla with Jalapeno and bacon was pretty tasty, a good idea, bit it didn't hold together and was super greasy. Portion was also pretty small though they really went wild on the massive sides of sour cream, guac, and salsa. No major complaints from around the table. Went here for monthly brunch with some friends. They were super busy and we were told as soon as we got in we would get a table within 15min, but the kitchen was about 45min behind. We stayed, because we were there to catch up and not in a huge rush. After we ordered it took at least 45min to get our food. Once the food arrived we were all fairly pleased. I will say mine was a little on the cold side. Especially my potatoes and toast. I had ordered the egg white veggie omelet with wheat toast and a side of gravy. Despite it being cold the flavor was pretty good. My friends got the eggs Benedict and a scramble. They both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Here at Satellite, one feels like Neil "Strong Arm" Armstrong launched into deep space in a metal locker with a computer less powerful than a calculator. We all remember Neil's famous words: "Hollandaise sauce can go with everything!" Too true, Neil! Satellite takes this mantra and chants it so loudly, so bravely, that your body begins to vibrate at the frequency of hollandaise. Can you feel it? Beaky Sausage, Susie Sausage, Sporty Sausage, and I, Ricky Sausage, certainly feel it. We enter the restaurant, a bit haggard from a wedding the night prior, and are sat in the bar. 50 cc's of coffee - stat! The coffee comes out quick. Beaky's senses ignite. "The coffee is good, but I need to add some more sugar for my taste. 7/10 brown. You don't want too brown. You don't want not brown, like opaque, that's not good. Not brown is water." Sporty muses similarly on her coffee. "I can't tell if my coffee is dark or if it's dark in here." The food takes a bit of time to come out, but there's no rush. We feast on the sights and the sounds. When our conversation lulls, we are surrounded by entertainment. One tv plays music videos, another plays that strange ChiveTV channel that entrances you like a hypnotist, and one tv is dedicated to home made memes. Susie visits the restroom and comes back with a story to tell. "The bathroom has a strong smell of bleach, which is for sure the smell you want. The soap is in a condiment squeeze bottle. I thought maybe I want some mustard, but then it smelled like soap." The food comes out and we are ready to eat! Susie and Sporty order the Breakfast Sliders. Susie speaks through mouthfuls of slider, "The sliders are so cute! They have a great texture thing going on. The bacon is crisp, the bun is pillowy, and the hollondaise is silky." Sporty ponders on her hash browns and side of hollandaise... "Perfect crispness and greasiness. I might call them curious. I think the hollondaise is the right color yellow, good jiggly consistency." Beaky has ordered the Hot Mess. "It makes you feel like less of a hot mess. It reduced my marginal amounts of dirt piles. The cobwebs in my brain were instantly annihilated. I'm not normally the biggest mushroom person, but these were good." I have ordered the eggs Benedict with STUFFED hash browns. Stuffed hash browns?? Dear readers, these are a must-try. It's 3 extra dollars. I'm a thrifty boy, but I must say it is worth the extra money. And the eggs Benedict are quite good! Nothing to write home about, but something to write a Yelp review about. We are full of potatoes and hollandaise sauce, grease and custard. Sporty slurs arcanely, "I think that the decades of printed pictures on the wall have so many stories to tell. But it's a dive hole in the wall that appears to have been around for a long time for a good reason: great food and large portions. It's like half diner half bar. So the dirty part wasn't surprising. Their outrageous mimosas with choice of many juice flavors like pineapple and peach were awesome. The hot mess was amazing. I will get that again. They say their hollandaise is the best and they are right. Gravy is hearty. No one was dissatisfied or disappointed. Staff was friendly and accommodative. We sat in the diner part of the restaurant so we got to watch them make the food which I love. It was a bit of a wait but worth it. Frank's is still our most favorite spot for breakfast. Hubs & I went to this restaurant for the first time in October 2023 after the nearby Tool concert. It was late and we were starving. There was a line out the door and the place was so incredibly busy. Food smelled great and there is no other option but fast food, so we waited. Had an awesome convo with a son/mom team that had just been to the concert too. Finally seated and our server was exceedingly calm and attentive, despite the fervor of the restaurant. (food slinging from the grill, bells dinging, massive late-night crowd taking up every table and counter stool, drinks being delivered from the adjacent bar, and the names being shouted for to-go orders and newly available table seating.) We ordered and proceeded to wait. We ordered breakfast and let me tell you, this place absolutely nailed it! The chicken fried steak, biscuits & gravy, and the classic breakfast combo. We came in here for brunch on a Friday morning, and it was a little busy, so expect 20-25 minute wait on food prep. We were able to sit down right away by the window, which was perfect! I stopped in on a hazy Spokane winters day for lunch and was generally very pleased. After debating ordering a grilled cheese or an omelet I ended up choosing the omelet with guidance from my server. I briefly considered the cheese bomb which is a mozzarella stick grilled cheese on Parmesan crusted bread--it sounds amazing but also a bit much? I ordered the mushroom and cheese omelet with Swiss, beer battered fries instead of hash browns, and an English muffin. Everything was delicious and very filling. The fries were crisp and golden brown. The mushrooms were fresh! And the English muffin was toasted perfectly. Service was very friendly and quick! Came in for the eggs benedict, based on the reviews. Best ever? Not bad but not something I'd return for. I should have known better when the photos showed them swimming in hollandaise. Now the specifics... on the upside, I've never been served so quickly in my life. Kudos for that. Downside is that means they've been keeping the sauce warm all morning. Eggs were done just right. Meat was shaved ham, rather than canadian bacon. Sauce lacked the hint of lemon you want in a hollandaise. Hash rows were nicely crispy outside but greasy inside. Frankly the Elmer's chain from Portland does a better job, although still not the top of my list. read more

After seeing this place on the Food Network and hearing foodies mention it over and over as one of the best dives in the nation, I maybe set my expectations too high for the Satellite Diner. I was mostly disappointed about everything here (except for the friendly service and the beer battered fries). I sat at the counter to get the full diner experience. Our waitress was welcoming, kind, and gave us suggestions on what to order. This place had that amazing diner smell, one of grease and bacon. The atmosphere was just about perfect . We settled on an order of their beer battered french fries, a cup of chili, a loaded omelette, and a cheeseburger. The only thing worth eating were the fries. The chili was really a bowl of beans (I'd say the cup was about 90% beans and 10% beef). It was a huge disappointment and didn't taste very good at all. Hubby said the omelette was just okay. It had cheese, bacon, and hash browns all scrambled up in it. My cheeseburger was abysmal. The meat was disgusting, overcooked, and tasted like something out of one of those big hamburger loafs that you store in the freezer. I think the beef in the burger classified as inedible. The bread was parmesan crusted sourdough and it was good. The burger had a weird thousand island dressing and the menu listed that it was topped with avocado (but it was really just a dollop of store-bought guacamole). The portion sizes were ridiculously huge but we are big eaters and I may have changed my tune if the food had tasted good. I ate about three bites of chili and left half of my burger uneaten. I truly wanted to like this place but I did not. I would not recommend this diner unless you are just stopping by for fries. read more

My favorite place for breakfast in Spokane. An excellent hole-in-the-wall bar and diner. I usually have their German sausage breakfast and occasionally their hash and eggs. When you ask for crispy hash browns, you get crispy hash browns. Due to their popularity in all ages and cultures, the kitchen is slow. The staffing shortages are probably contributing to the problem. Go as you will enjoy the staff and the ambiance. If you like chic brunch places, this is not for you. read more
