The Running Store - Hoka Bondi - Sports Wear Near Me - Gainesville, Virginia

It was time for me to invest in some legit running shoes. Little did I know that The Running Store had that and much more. I was kindly greeted immediately by Alisa when I walked it. I told her that it was my first time in and that I was looking for high quality running shoes. She brought me over to the station that analyzes your measurements, dispersement of weight on your feet, arches, foot structure, etc. Really cool and helpful technology. Once it read my "fit", Alisa went off to grab several pairs for my size. She was very knowledgeable of the different types of shoes and the specific details of each. I could tell she really has a passion not just for running, but for also helping people find their ultimate shoe. Alisa was patient with me as I tried on different shoes and I really felt as if we were on a team to find the "perfect solution"! (Aka the perfect shoe for me). I decided to go with the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22's and I am very pleased with the results. I am especially glad that I decided to stop in to this store. 10/10 recommend. Thanks again. -Sean read more

I was looking for a pair of running shoes that could also serve as cross trainers and Parker could not have been more helpful. He really knows his stuff and gave me a few different options one of which was perfect for me. I highly recommend this store and will be back again! read more

I have some foot issues that require a wide shoe. Tried this store in search of Altra (doc recommended) and happily met up with Madeleine. She listened to my concerns and had great recommendations. Since time is necessary to know if the shoes really work, I bought the Pro Deal for the longer return period and built in discounts. Highly recommend! read more

I went to the running store in Gainesville Virginia and the associate Jake was a very nice young man. The help we've received was very good. There was no sales pressure to buy anything. The Hoka shoes are a little pricey but worth the price. I will definitely be a returning customer. read more

Sam L was amazing. Sam took the time to listen to my husbands needs. it's was not about a good running show for my husband , it was about finding the right stable shoe for a handicapped person. Sam did the analysis machine 3 times for the best possible reading. my husband can't walk without some assistance so he kept giving a false read. But Sam with his patients believed it could be done and it was. Now onto the shoe. My husband is picky as to not draw anymore attention to his walk then needed and a stabilizing shoe will help with that. Sam brought out all the recommended styles best suited for stabilizing, we ruled out those that looked like his old uncle would use and we found the right style. Next up the right color. We ended up with black which by some miracle was available. but not after trying EVERY color on display. Sam's professional and pleasant attitude never waived. Shoe purchased, with confidence that the right shoe is walking out the door Thank you Sam L for your friendly professional and positive assistance. We are walking stronger today. read more

Parker was a huge help in determining a stability shoe to run, after years of neutral shoes!

Had a coupon and gift card, so I decided to swing by. Wanted a pair of trail running shoes, and got wonderful help from Kelly, she brought multiple varieties and allowed to try each pair on, giving helpful feedback on what fits best. 10/10 Service. read more

Went in a week ago, talked to Ian (owner) over email he recommended I talk to Brenden (manager) we used the scanner they had. Brenden then had me walk in multiple shoes to make sure I felt comfortable, had me walk in them around the store and talked to me about insoles that would work for me and the way I walk. I even got a pair of socks from "the running store" brand and the quality of the socks are amazing. Really great experience. I got talked into joining the club they have which saved me some money on the shoes I bought, the socks and the insoles. I wear a size 3Y for reference and they were able to find something that was just right for me, waited to give an honest review the shoes feel like I'm walking on clouds. read more

Stopped by The Running Store to get my grandmother some new shoes and Parker was a huge help explaining to her the benefits of each shoe. He was super helpful and recommended several pairs for her. We ultimately landed on the Hoka's and her feet are feeling much better. Thank you Parker! read more

I stopped in here a little over a year ago. I was underwhelmed and extremely disappointed. I got put in the WRONG shoe and return policy was miscommunicated. And to round out the trifecta - the sales person could not be bothered. The overall experience was so bad, I continued going to my old store in Fairfax. Well flash forward, I was desperate for new running shoes. Given that I knew what I wanted, I decided to give them another shot. Along came Lisa. She was patient, open, and provided lots of fantastic advice. She didn't try to talk me into anything. She helped me settle on what I actually wanted I walked out with shoes, socks, a membership and a trusted advisor. I'm super pleased to say, Lisa completely changed my perspective on this store and now has a dedicated customer! Given that I chew through shoes about every two and a half months - I'm super excited to have rediscovered this store!! Ask for Lisa!!! read more

First off we were only walking in to view the OOMG but after great interactions with the staff and the great atmosphere of the shop we ended up buying more than we anticipated. Which is fine because we signed up for the one time year offer of TRS PRO DEAL. We received 20% for signing up off all items. Just view the charges in the attachment. It paid for it self. And there were some Brooks jogging shirts on sale and that was even better as we got 20% off that as well. Definitely take advantage the deal and the staff. Drew was informational as well as helpful. The store co-owner "Asia" was helpful even though she didn't assist us directly we later found out she was the owners wife. Amazing staff and it's noticeable through there leadership. I'll definitely be going back. read more

I went to the running store because over the summer I started jogging and after a few weeks I was constantly dealing with shin splints. I read that it could be due to running in not great shoes and boy was that right! I was helped by Alisa and she was amazing. She listened to everything I had to say, asked probing question, scanned my feet, measured them, watched me walk and jog bit outside and inside in various shoes. We tried 4 pairs I think to narrow things down to what was best for me in her eyes as an expert and what felt the best to me. Customer for life here! I have jogged a few times now and it is noticeable how much better I move and feel. read more

This is my second visit/ shop at TRS, and it only gets better! Alisa was great (both times) in working with my feet issues and making adjustments/ suggestions. I started out with Hoka running shoes, and now I am on (the newer) Brooks. Being a member of TRS helps with the cost/ discount. I was most impressed with the over selection of footbeds/ innersoles. The Running Store is about finding the right shoes (and socks, shorts, etc.) with people that know what they are talking about. Thanks, again, Alisa. read more

Just bought my third pair of shoes from The Running Store, Gainesville. Alisa was the associate that continued the great support and assistance with my purchase. They were crazy busy on Black Friday, but provided quick service. My initial purchase was 6 months ago where Mary I. was the associate who provided exceptional support. She spent close to an hour ensuring I had the right pair of shoes (bought 2 pair). I went from less than a mile a day to averaging over 5 miles a day since June. Always appreciate their advice and continued help! read more

The Running Store charge my account for an annual membership I did not authorize. I called the store, spoke with someone who identified as a manager said that they would have the owner contact me to straighten this out. The owner never called and the charge remains on my credit card. During three conversations with employees and managers they volunteered that many customers have complained about this charge. I do not know how long they have been charging customers this fee but it seems as though this has been an on going issue for some time. As of today they have done nothing to make this right. BTW, how many customers with charge the fee and didn't realize they were billed? I strongly recommend that you do not do business with this company. To be sure this is the correct store I have included the store and contact information: 7343 ATLAS WALK WAY GAINESVILLE VA 20155 (703) 753-4470 read more

What a wonderful, customer-focused store! I have been buying my family's athletic shoes at the Running Store in Gainesville, Virginia and the service I have received at this store has always been phenomenal. Every employee I have worked with has been extremely knowledgeable and always ready to help. I get an education every time I go into the store, and I come away with great, high-quality shoes. Most recently I mentioned to the owner about a pair of Hoka shoes I had purchased for my son two months prior. I told him my son actually needed a size larger as they were not a perfect fit. The owner immediately switched out my son's old pair for a new pair, in the correct size, as he expected all customers to be correctly fitted. The owner assured me that he would donate my son's old Hokas to someone who couldn't afford to buy pair of their own, at a local high school. Such impressive service! I will always take my business to this store. UPDATE: I very recently reviewed the Running Store in Gainesville, Va at 7343 Atlas Walk Way, to let everyone know what outstanding service I have received there over the years. I have always encountered extremely knowledgable employees who have helped me choose the perfect shoe for my needs. I am in awe of their product knowledge, great attitude and I always walk out with something I love! Thank you, Alisa, Kevin, Will and Ian! read more

Sam was so very helpful with my shoe fitting ! I had never been through a comprehensive running shoe fitting , and he explained everthing that he was doing as well as offered suggestions on shoes I might like based on my answers to his questions . Sam also assisted by demonstrating how to properly lace and tie up my new shoes to avoid slipping on the heel ! I bought two pairs of shoes yesterday- something I have never done - because the service and quality of products were to good to pass up! I saved money by joining the pro club membership . I look forward to not only saving money on my shoes and gear in the future , but having my family save as well ! read more

I've been going here for years. This time Dennis helped me with my new Hokas. After trying on different pairs I asked if he had any with more "girly" colors. He went to the back and found a pair. He informed me of the sales they were having but didn't try to sell me on anything. I'll be back for more running shoes, inserts and Oofos. read more

Not only does The Running Store have an impressive stock (it's rare we find size 15s in store for my son) they also always provide excellent customer service! Claire was both knowledgeable and patient. She took the time to understand what I needed and I left with my first pair of Hokas. For the first time in my career, I came home from the first day of school and my feet didn't hurt! TRS has a repeat customer as I will be back for another color! read more

I love the Running Store, and the couple times I tried to "save money" by shopping at a big competitor to save a few bucks I always regret it as I inevitably buy the wrong running shoes and then go back to Ian & team with my head hung low. Alisa is one of their gems (Ian hires the best!) & she is highly knowledgeable. She listened to my concerns, watched me run to assess my gait, asked key questions, found me the right shoe and hooked me up with inserts too. They also have a fabulous selection of Feetures and Balega socks, clothes and other running essentials. Support a local business! Check them out! read more

Kellie helped us find the perfect fit, amazing deal with my PRO discount and the "prime" discount. Thank you for your customer service!

I've worn Brooks Ghost for the past several years and was in need of a new pair. Alisa introduced me to Ghost Max and Oofos. First, I LOVE my Oofos flip flops. They are super comfortable and supportive not like any flip flops I've worn in the past! I didn't have as much luck with the Ghost Max. I was measured as a double wide and did purchase them. After walking in them a few days my left knee began to hurt. I don't think I had enough lateral support. Unfortunately I went back about 30 days later, past the 15 day return policy. The gentleman that helped me suggested I try inserts to see if that would help rather than having to purchase another pair of shoes. I gave it a try for 2 weeks but it didn't seem to help. I returned those yesterday and purchased the Ghost style I have worn for years. Thank you to all who helped me at the store! To future buyers - be aware of the return policy. read more

Always great service and helpful folks - thank you Kellie for checking sizing and making sure I got the best value!

Really wanted to buy new Hokas from a local store but was disappointed by pathetic inventory. Only one color in my size (8). Same with Oofos clogs. Sales guy tried but he just didn't have the inventory. I was told there was a large shipment in the back that hadn't been processed and to return in a couple of days. This is way we buy direct from the manufacturers online and Zappos. I'll have the shoes before The Running Store gets it stock checked in. read more
