I come here repeatedly because I love the clothes. A wide variety of colors aha fits means I can always find something for myself and for gifts, too. Prices can be high, but the quality backs it up, and there's always a sale. I absolutely love the excellent service and recommendations, and that the staff exceeds expectations every time. I experienced "2" smooth, online order exchanges this evening... both were great! Diane initially helped me source sizes I needed in the original color I'd ordered and continued to assist me in sourcing an even better color selection... items exchanged! I dashed home to retrieve the other two fleeces I'd ordered online... returned to the store at the brink of closing time and Jonah assisted me, cheerfully, with the second exchange with the fleeces Diana had set aside for me. FOUR dollar signs? Calm down. It's cheaper than Lululemon. I had a nice experience with the sales associates. They were friendly and down-to-earth, and they went the extra mile to help me make the most out of my trip with a sleeping baby in tow. They helped me find exactly what I was looking for and narrow it down from there. They have nice options for running and yoga leggings. The sales associate wanted to get me the extra large changing room, but it was taken. She even offered to watch my baby for me while I changed in a smaller room! The larger room opened up, and she happily went back to get different styles in my size she helped me figure out that I actually want a petite (short legs!) so I'll order it online. I really liked the experience of shopping here. I feel like I went from being clueless about what they offered to having a full education on it. read more

I like Athleta's clothes but when I visited the store today nobody said hello, nobody offered me a dressing room despite having 6 items in my arms. I helped myself to a dressing room, tried on the clothes and when nobody checked on me I decided not to give this store my business. It was not busy either. I just felt ignored and unwanted so I left without purchasing anything. It was just like going to Marshall's. read more

Love the fashion, quality, & the return policy. But don't love how the sales personnel ignore you due to your size. I have visited this store about 3 times with the intent of shopping. The first time, although there were free sales people, no one asked to help me. So I walked out after I noticed two thin/in shape ladies who walked in after me and were immediately helped. The 2nd time I approached a sales lady who was very young (and thin). Unfortunately very clueless as to what someone with my body shape and weight would need. She did not seem comfortable with me. And recommended a terrible skort which I ended up returning - too big!. Hence, I know about the great return policy. The 3rd time I walked in with my hubby who helped me find a great top & the perfect capri workout pants which I'm very happy with and wear quite often. They still look great after many many washes. The sales folks would benefit with some training. People who walk-in motivated to lose weight are willing to purchase. Overall, I really like Athleta. The quality of the clothes is great and they are super comfortable. Certain sizes tend to sell out quickly. Staff is okay...I had scanned the entire store and been in the dressing room twice before I was even greeted by any employee. read more

I was a little apprehensive of Athleta at first. What can I say, I'm a Lululemon fangirl. WheN GAP unveiled a separate fitness store, it was exciting, but I didn't really change my shopping habits. I first started shopping here when I was in need of cute water-friendly gear for my stand up paddle boarding addiction. It's really hard to find athletic swimwear for WOMEN. Brands like Roxy and Billabong seem to fit juniors or really tiny women (I am neither of these). They also had some really great sales going on their website as well as in store. I found my shopping experience to be pretty pleasant overall. Then one day at my dance studio, I saw a stack of discount cards for Athleta. I'm a sucker for a good sale! I found out that fitness professionals can get a 30% discount off of full priced merchandise if you bring them a copy of your certification. Sweet! They're all about helping out the community (they also offer free classes) and would love to see local instructors and trainers show off their gear. It's a great program! I can safely say that now I'm a fan of Athleta. The staff is so friendly and helpful. When i was having trouble finding a size in a pair of capris, they showed me some other versions I could try on while they went to check in the back. They're always super helpful when you are trying things on in their dressing rooms and the cashiers are also pleasant. I've yet to have a bad experience. As for the quality of the material - they're great! I tend to go cheap on regular workout tops but I really splurge on capris, shorts, and paddle gear. I think it's worth paying extra for super quality. As much as I love my cheap Old Navy or Target fitness apparel, I also can tell how much better the material is on my Athelta capris and shorts. This stuff lasts a long time as long as you take care of it. Athleta also gives you a workout guarantee. So if you try something and it doesn't quite fit, they'll let you return it! read more

I LOVE the Athleta line because the quality is great, the fit is amazing and the clothes are comfortable. I decided to go to the store in lieu of guessing and buying online. The store is beautiful and no problems parking. The customer service and staff honestly didn't give me the time of day. I'm very disappointed, especially since this is a Gap affiliated store. I'll just take online guessed about what will fit instead of returning to this store. read more

I rarely review chain stores but I had such a good experience today I thought it was worth it! Super customer service - immediately started a dressing room for me, had a designated person in the dressing room (to grab other sizes/colors/styles, give an honest opinion about fit, advice for how to style, which styles stretched more over time vs stayed true to fit, etc), really friendly person at the checkout. A Zumbathon was recently held at the RTC to help the Embry Rucker Shelter last weekend. I had a wonderful time being around friends for a great cause, helping the shelter and dancing. The volume fluctuated at the discretion of the Athleta manager, Kathy, and it was respected although we couldn't hear it. My concern is the Athleta Manager, Kathy, came and started being aggressive to a Zumba Instructor and put her hands in his face and making threats. Uncalled for and unacceptable coming from a manager. You do not have the right to be in anyone's personal space let alone put your hands in someone's face regardless of the confrontation when you are the manager and the key face of Athleta. FYI it can be considered asault/battery if legal action was followed through. I am hoping upper management reads this review in hopes of teaching their management team new methods of handling conflict and providing first class customer service as I hope that this type of representation is not passed on to other employees at that store and not a representation of Athleta. This is something, I do not take lightly and I will be making a phone call if no action is taken. read more

I love Athleta, shopping at its website more than going to the store. Their staffs are mostly very friendly and always there to help. It is just that one occasion that made me understand a couple other reviewers' complaints about the staff in this store. Hopefully their manager can read such reviews and can train their staff to do better. I was in the store today and experienced a similar situation, I don't want to call it "profiling" but I don't have another word for it. I was standing there for quite a few minutes and waiting for a fitting room. The staff walking around like I didn't exist at all. Someone else came in later, stood behind me then immediately got approached to and got a room. I was lost for one second, and walked away. Relating to the other negative reviews, frankly the only thing I can think of is I am not white. We all can be ignorant at times, especially their staff I saw there some look quite young, probably some college students doing part-time. I'm sure they meant no harm by unconsciously showing preference of some customers over others, still it is important to be aware of potential ignorant behaviors and avoid hurting others. I hope the negative reviews can raise the awareness and the store can train their staff to do better jobs. read more

A couple of weeks ago I visited the Athleta store in Reston, VA. After completing my Yoga teacher training in February and recently being hired as an instructor at a few different studios I decided it was time to sign-up for the yoga teacher discount and build my wardrobe. When I went into the store I first looked around for about 15 minuets with no one speaking, even though there were more employees than customers in the store. Then I approached one of the sales associates asking for an application for the yoga teacher discount. The sales associate looked at me and explained that in order to get the discount I would have to be a certified yoga instructor, information I knew and did not ask her for. When I explained that I was she said she would have to look for the application and continued folding the clothes she was working on before going to get the application. After looking in a binder she went to the back room emerging to tell me that I would have to fill out the application in the store because my certification had to be verified by the store manager. Again, information that had no relevance in my question. I said ok to which she explained they were out of applications. Not wanting to continue this back and forth I said ok and left the store. As an African- American women I feel that the community that provides appeal and makes money off of the Yoga community does not have a foundation in the philosophies. I may not look what magazines show as the typical Yoga teacher but I am a Yogi and did not appreciate my experience. read more

Wonderful return policy. Bought two pairs of petite pants online which were a little short. The Reston store called three other ones and were able to find one pair in a longer size to me. The store will ship for free and I refunded the pair. Couldn't find the second pair in the longer length but I opted to keep them, though the store would have honored a refund for the second online order. Wonderful staff read more

Love Athleta clothes - have been ordering them online for quite some time now, so when visiting my parents, I thought it'd be fun to check out the store. My Mom and I were browsing around for at least 10 minutes, and not one salesperson bothered to even greet us. There were at least 4-5 of them milling around doing nothing. Very disappointed service. And funny because we went to the Banana Republic (same parent company) one street over and the customer service there was amazing - we were greeted immediately and the salesperson let us know about some special savings they had going on. read more

I had the simply the best customer service experience at this store this week. On Saturday I bought a pair of leggings in-store and was really excited about them because I am building a "capsule wardrobe" so these were going to be "THE leggings" that I would wear hopefully for years to come. I preemptively threw out all my old, cheap leggings to make room for these beauts. Anyway, sometime and somehow after purchasing this pair, I either misplaced them or they were stolen. I hadn't even taken the tags off or worn them one single time. I spent all week looking for them to no avail, and finally my husband called the store to see if perhaps I had left them on the counter after purchasing them (I had asked for no bag, so it's possible). The associate said that yes, they had my leggings!. My husband rushed over only to find that the leggings a customer had left were not in fact mine, but a different pair somebody else had left after purchasing. So my husband explained the situation to the manager who, after helping him think through what could have happened to them, decided to just GIVE US A NEW, FREE PAIR! She did ask him to bring the other pair back if we find them, which of course we will do. My husband did not push her to do this or even imply that he wanted her to, she just offered. THIS is excellent customer service! My husband didn't recall the manager's name, but she is a true angel! I will have to return not only because of the quality of the clothing but also because of the relationship that this manager created. Thank you! read more
