Also, DSW employees always ask if you need any assistance or if you were finding everything okay but not once did any of the employees on the floor greet or even make eye contact. But I had gift cards to burn and it was the end of the year with 50% already reduced items. And I needed shoes! I actually did really well. I went for comfort this time and purchased two pairs of Clark's and another comfy Euro dress shoe. Service was really good. The salespeople working and tidying up, each asked if I was finding everything ok, or they told me about the 50% off clearance sale. My PT therapist mentioned Montague & Son The Birkenstock Store located in Herndon and yesterday I finally dropped by. Located close to Lotte Plaza and Fair Oaks Hospital, it's a small store but packed with Birkenstock sandals and other ancillaries . I was met entering by a young lady (Ceres?)who took her time to help me decide which sandals would fit and what colors were available (none of mine were so went with second best). She was very thorough, up to the point where another young lady who was obviously a close friend stopped by and then I had her divided attention to check-out. I have my sandals and tried them as directed for an hour first day and the tried the second day. It hurt in the top of my foot and I had to read the reviews to find out why it was hurting. Would have been nice to have been told that by my associate. Not cheap so pay attention in the store. I overheard another associate going deeper into the physical aspects of the sandals so try and see if you can enter, walk around and listen in to conversations to see which associate seem to be most knowledgeable. Hopefully the sandals will break in shortly and I can experience the benefit.

While we were waiting there were two people in front of us using the machine on their own. There was no one from the store helping them. I assumed I could do the same(use the machine). When I was asking my husband to take his shoes off a person on my back told me "NO, YOU DO NOT DO THAT" I turned around and told him there was nobody there and the other people were using it. HE LEFT without an explanation or NOTHING. I felt like a person being joked by a selfish guy. NO One in the store said anything. We turned around and left. I was in the store from 7:00 to 7:50 PM carefully deciding between a pair of Clarks and Dr. Scholl's shoes. A kind associate helped direct me to the loafer section, and after taking a quick trip outside to use the restroom since the store does not have one, I returned right at 8:00 PM knowing exactly which pair I wanted to purchase. Instead of being assisted, I was immediately met by a middle aged man who repeatedly told me the store was closed, even after I explained I just needed to quickly grab the one pair of Clarks shoes in size 7.5 that I had already selected and was ready to purchase. He refused to help me retrieve them or allow me a quick checkout, despite the fact that I had been shopping there minutes before closing and was prepared to pay. It is virtually impossible for me to find comfortable shoes. After trying multiple rounds of online shopping/returning and another in-person shoe store, I decided to come to shoefly. Rick understood my needs and was able to suggest styles of sandals, shoes, and sneakers based on my issues. He was very patient with all the shoes I tried on (I think I was there for an hour and a half). When we finally found a pair of sandals that fit, there was an area with stitching on the inside that irritated my foot, but he was able to take it to the back and smooth it down.
