I used to go to this place when it was in Falls Church City. It was always overpriced and sort of snooty, but they had some unusual and cool clothing items I purchased over the years. When they moved to McLean earlier this year, I went with about 20 items to put up for consignment. (I had made appointment as they require.) I brought in beautiful clothes, in excellent condition. They took the boxes to the back to inspect the clothing and choose which they wanted to take for consignment; and while that was going on I browsed. I couldn't believe the downgrade in the clothing; while the quality was fine, I did not see anything stylish for sale. I was not even tempted to try anything on. After about 20 minutes the owner comes back and says she cannot take any of my items, although she would consider one in the fall (it was a spring/summer item, as were all the pieces, as this took place in mid-Spring) and I "could come back in a few months." Super dismissive and arrogant. The one good thing was the friendly young man at the counter, who I chatted with while I waited. I see the positive reviews here are years old, so here's an update: NTY management is just as or even more snobby now, the prices are even higher -- not just because of time passing but also likely the expensive location -- and they don't even have cool clothes any more. read more

Not a lot of recent reviews for New To You--well, I'm here to change that. I had a nice experience on my recent first visit to this store. The staff were visible and ready to help but not pushy. The inventory was well curated and full but not overly stuffed. I saw a number of nice sweaters and dresses that I liked, and I ended up buying one. Also a lot of fun gifts, jewelry, and assorted decor items. This store is geared toward an older crowd, which I really like. I'm past the age of shopping at some other resale boutiques that focus on only the trendiest items in juniors sizing. New To You is more JCrew and higher-end items. Prices seemed to be about 50 percent off original retail. Could you find some of these items thrifting? Sure, but it'd be like pulling a needle from a haystack. I'm willing to pay more for a tailored selection of good-condition items. I'll come back to shop here. read more

After hitting about 6 metro area consignment shops in search of a dress for a black tie affair, I was weary and tired, but decided to stop by New to You since it was on my way home. After the crappy/gaudy/so 10 years ago/overpriced selection I found everywhere else, I figured I wasn't going to find anthing, but hey, it's on the way home. I was completely wrong! I called ahead to make sure that they at least carry formal dresses, and the woman on the phone was so kind...she asked my size and literally described everything that they had that fit my needs and would fit me...prices and all! When I walked in, the staff was so courteous. They were all picking out dresses that they thought would suit my needs, and were anything BUT pushy. They let me browse without hovering. I tried on a dress and walked out of the dressing room to get a second opinion; one of the employees asked my shoe size to fetch me a pair of heels while another fetched me a brooch that matched perfectly. Yet another employee took my picture so I could e-mail it to my mom and get her opinion! I ended up leaving with an absolutely gorgeous and classic vintage dress for $50, and a pair of vintage Yves Saint Laurent black satin heels (that were in PERFECT shape by the way) for $40. I'm going back tomorrow for the brooch. We came in looking for women's pants, and I was able to find 4 pairs in my size. They're pricier than say, Goodwill, (I paid 113$ for the four pairs) but the clothes are high quality and it's a nice place. Their dressing rooms are open, which isn't true everywhere at this point, so that was a plus. Their selection is a little limited because they're a small store, so I feel like I got kind of lucky. Overall this was a good experience and if I'm in this situation again, I might come back. read more

This is an upscale consignment shop with women's clothing and accessories. Items can be pricey ($25-$40+) because there are boutique and high end designer labels. I bought a leather Coach purse for $25... which I was excited about for about a day, until upon further research with Professor Google, I became pretty sure that it was a FAKE coach bag and not a real one. It's still a nice bag (it looked legit and was made well, and I liked it enough to not try to return it), but even so, a little disappointing. Some really fab bold items, but unfortunately not much selection above size 12 in the clothing. Very, very well-edited small selection. I'd come here for a special, fun, or bold piece, not necessarily to build my wardrobe with basics. read more

Nowadays, it's just so hard to find one-of-a-kind stuff, what with mass producing department stores, shops and whatnot. It's nice to find consignment shops that are discerning in what they accept yet can still sell the items for a decent price. This is why New To You is awesome. I popped into NTY last week while running errands in the area, so I was really in to just browse around. I found tons of cute shoes- everything from ballet flats to really adorable heels. Only problem was that everything seemed to be in sasquatch sizes (size 9 and 10). I found a lovely pair of red sandals but alas, were an 8.5. I wear a 6.5/ 7 so wasn't able to snag a pair that day. I looked around the clothing area and found a short-sleeved, white Theory shirt (would have been great for the office) for about $55-- not a bad price! They have jeans and skirts as well, but didn't rifle through those since I got distracted by the purses. I found a lovely electric blue envelope style clutch/ messenger bag (it had removable handles- genius!) but opted not to get it. What was a nice touch was that they had found an article about electric blues for the summer which was made into a hangtag on the item. Glad to see that they really take fashion seriously! The customer service was, hands down, the best. I know with small stores, it can be kind of tough to just leave shoppers alone and help when it's needed but the gals at NTY were helpful and most definitely were not pushy with anything. I had an appointment this morning to see if they could help me sell several cocktail dresses and gowns. The store still looks great, organized and so much to choose from. The owner and staff were so welcoming and took time to review my items. With great news, all but one was accepted. I would also like to point out is their several window front was outfitted to celebrate Black History Month. It was so beautifully displayed. Low key ready to answer questions and put my finds in a dressing room ladies. Rooms were roomy with plenty of hooks to hang clothing I was trying on. Two amply sized pink velvet chairs for significant other to sit while you shop. There's Jewelry available to accentuate your newest wardrobe finds. Shoes galore casual to formal from $25- $239 for Mahno blahnik, coach, other designers in many color and heel heights. I don't wear heels over 2" and there were shoes I liked here. Purses offered: Kate spade, coach, Perlina, others. The best selection was in their dresses: bill blass, lily Pulitzer, other big designers. Only wish here: more large and extra large (12-14) clothing. This store is worth a stop for work or semi-formal pieces. They had several little, fancy jackets to wear over a strapless dress to a fancy event you're attending soon. read more

You will need to do a little work to shop here, but it'll be worth it! First, the associates will greet you, but they won't hover. So, when you need help you'll need to outright ask. Personally, I like this. It is pricey, but you'll pay any price once you find a jewel that's worth it. Remember, that these items are now one-of-a-kind items that you can't go online to buy. I found a pair of leather, laser cut Kenneth Cole knee-high boots that I get compliments on all the time. I also found an Hermes tie for my hubby for a mere $75 and a Michael Kors top that I'd regretted not buying. That was a lucky break! I've gotten several pieces over the years, mostly tops. They keep the high-end purses behind the counter, so you have to ask to see them. they do have LV, Prada, etc. from time to time. It can be hit or miss, but you can always call first to ask what might be in stock. There is a tiny parking lot around the side of the building, next to the hardware store. I've never had trouble finding parking. The store is smallish, and there's no waiting area for your guy, but these are not deal breakers for me. I suggest giving this place a try, odds are you'll find a jewel of a piece worth buying. read more

I was looking for more of a rummage shop when I stumbled across 'New To You'. Lots of cute shoes and dresses; high end. I was with a boy, so, couldn't really browse for long, but from what I can see, a great place to bring your girlfriends when you want to put together a one of a kind outfit for a weekend out with the ladies! New to You is by far the best consignment shop I have ever been to! The staff is so very helpful and friendly and the selection that they have in the store is just fantastic. When bringing clothes in, they are pretty picky--and it shows when you are shopping because they only have the BEST quality! It is a consignment shop, so not every single time I have been am I able to find something that fits perfectly, maybe just 80% of the time! I have been able to find everything from multiple pairs of designer jeans: Joes, Citizens, Rock & Republic, to nice business outfits as well as formal dresses BCBG, Donna Morgan, Anthropologie. But if you went once and did not find anything-go again! They get new things in often. New to You is such a fun and fresh shop, the people and the shop itself always brighten my mood. The store is clean, bright and very organized which helps tremendously when shopping in secondhand stores. She has a great selection of designer clothing, handbags and accessories, all seemed to be moderately priced for the condition they were in. I have shopped at New To You for years and loved it! I find great items at reasonable prices and the service and fashion advice is wonderful. I do not usually post reviews online - but feel that a great review was warranted in this case. I attended a New To You party back on March 19, 2016. New To You holds these small "get together" parties several times a year. I thoroughly enjoyed this party and the ability to browse the store items and try on clothing in a leisurely fashion while sipping champagne and having a bite to eat. I found several items during the party which I purchased immediately. Upon returning home that evening another item, which I had not purchased, was still calling my name. I called the owner, Christina Novak, on Monday morning to see if the item was still there. She cheerfully said it was there and she would hold it until that afternoon so that I could run by and pick it up. This type of personalized, happy customer service is hard to come by these days. I appreciate the service, the "finds" and the cleanliness of this shop and would recommend it to anyone! read more

I went back and this time brought my wallet, I mean, boyfriend with me. Big mistake. No man chair, bad music... not the reason for the downgrade but it made me realize that I don't have the patience for this place. The clothing here is definitely more, um, mature and sad to say but a bit out of date. Even though it may be designer, it's still out of style. Here is a perfect example: PRADA. Each year, Prada changes their label just slightly to show (prove) the season it's in. I saw a lot of out of date Prada labels as well as Diane von Furstenberg dresses that were from 1999. How do I know this? I used to date this guy in NYC and used to give a shit about fashion labels because I had the money to do so and was in a culture that demanded it. Here is a quick tip: DvF labels from 1999 have the white on black label (seen that label here). In 2007(?)ish DvF labels have the angular corners and one dress I saw did not have that so I am not sure if it was a knock off or an earlier dress. Regardless, it's not 2007, it's 2011. The price was $100 which I felt was over priced given the year. My point is that the fashion here is a bit unorganized and inconsistent. I'm not saying that I wouldn't rock a DvF or Prada dress for that matter if it was a decade old but mark the price accordingly. I do still like this store but not as much as I used to. I still find the staff incredibly nice and helpful I just am underwhelmed by their clothing selection. read more

Tried to consign a few items and the (I am guessing) owner/manager was snooty before she could even see what I had with me. I wouldn't bother. Also hard to get to and park. Added 8/21: Let me add more details. Describing the staff as snooty is being very nice. I felt extremely unwelcome, put down, and treated like I wasn't good enough to even walk through the door let alone have something that was good enough to sell in the store. The items there are not that good looking or high end. Many things seem like they came out of some grandmother's estate sale. Read the other posts... It seems the owner keeps responding to every post someone makes to justify something that was wrong with that particular visit - which should be a sign to all customers to STAY AWAY!!! Unprofessional! Look elsewhere to consign or shop, unless you enjoy being treated poorly. In short, I bought a D&G bag on RueLaLa in the fall, carried it twice, decided it wasn't my style and brought it there to consign last week. Today, I got a call from the manager accusing me of trying to pass them a fake bag after the customer who bought it complained. Are you kidding me? Now I have to make a trip to the store next week with the receipt to prove that the bag isn't fake. Needless to say the bag is the real thing and the fact that they can't tell the difference is ridiculous. They obviously don't know their stuff and don't know how to treat customers. Go to one of the many other terrific consignment stores in this area and save yourself hassle and unpleasantness! read more

Went to browse around here, but I didn't find any must-haves. The display of purses behind the counter definitely classed up the space, but the clothing itself was not suited for me. There were some cute hats but none I'd be bold enough to wear and the jewelry was unique. The only thing I fancied was on the mannequin and was in my opinion, overpriced. read more

This consignment shop is small, but keeps its garments in nice, easy-viewing condition as opposed to stuffed onto the rack. Prices range from very inexpensive to moderate, but always a lot lower than standard retail. Cute little accessories too. Beautiful, quality clothes - including some couture - shoes, bags, and jewelry. Unfortunately you can't easily see and touch their nicer handbags, but almost everything else is within reach. I have found a new love for consignment stores. I went to the store to search for their bargains. I didn't make a purchase but will visit again because my window for shopping was very short. What I loved was that I was warmly greeted and was offered help as well when trying on items. They have a great selection of designers. Very nice boots were lining the walls. Their clothes offerings are pretty good and I've definitely bought some good duds here before. BUT if you're looking to sell anything, beware. When I made my appointment they asked how many items I had and I said 4 or 5. Didn't seem to be a problem then, but when I showed up, they rejected the two pieces they would have taken because it was enough to start an account for me. She said usually people show up with bags of clothes. So basically I went all the way there to be turned away for not having a boat load of jewelry or clothes. My work (and hobbies) require me to wear really high end labels and I buy most of my goodies here. I don't usually rate places, and I very rarely give a great score, but I love this store so much!! Plus, everyone is always so nice to me and helpful. Just picked up the cutest Tahari top for the weekend, for under $15! This is a great consignment shop in Falls Church that carries a lot of great, high quality brands. There is a LV Speedy there now for around $300 (not my style, but it was in GREAT shape). High quality selection, very attentive service and the jewelry and shoes are very cute. My only complain is that they arrange the tops by color and not size (sort of annoying when you are looking for something special). Other than that, I will certainly be back to shop and consign! read more

I have brought many items to New to You and would have made a lot more money on eBay. I don't have the time to sell my designer stuff myself so this is a good back up. I am still looking for other stores to consign my items. If you are looking to buy though this is a great place to find designer clothes at great prices. read more

This review is for consigners, not shoppers. I am a VIP consigner at a couple of other area shops, and would NEVER recommend consigning here after having done so a couple of times. The owner is quite unpleasant to deal with and severely underprices when presented with the opportunity. This store has ruined me for all other consignment stores! The staff (esp Christina the owner) are fabulous! They are truthful (rare among sales people) and soo helpful. I have been shopping here for over 6 years and consigning for about 2. Christina and her staff always have great suggestions on how to accessorize and make many outfits out of a few pieces. They found me the perfect dress and accessories to wear to a big deal Christmas party last year, and I just bought this year's dress today! To the yelper who claimed to have bought a fake Coach bag here - sorry, but I don't think so - I know how adamant they are against counterfeiting and work with law enforcement against it! It can be hit or miss with your size, but that's what happens with consignment so keep going back, they get so much new stuff all the time. read more

I LOVEEEE this place!!! They have such a great variety and I was able to find great work clothes that were affordable, in style, and of good quality. Nothing is overwhelming as they seem pretty selective. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. I LOVE this place. I've always been a huge fan of consignment/thrift type stores, and in that realm, New To You is top of the line. Though I agree that the arrangement by color rather than size can be frustrating, everything else about this store (selection, sales associates, price) is first class. I have gotten a great deal on Jimmy Choo pumps here that I gave to a friend as a birthday gift. She's a New York City girl and wears them all the time. If you're looking for gently used designer goods at a fair price, New To You should be your go to spot. I only wish they would sell me the adorable 1950's wall decorations! I love having New To You in my neighborhood!! I am a young (early 30's) professional and I need to build my wardrobe with high quality items without breaking the bank. I visit the shop once or twice a month. Although there have been a couple occasions when I didn't find anything, 90% of the time I leave with 2-5 outstanding pieces - items that I could not even dream of affording otherwise and that I won't see on 100 other young women during my daily commute on the metro. I recently bought dresses from Juice Couture, Tory Burch, and a handmade Italian dress, each for under $100. I don't love shopping - I rather be outside - but I always have a great time at New To You and I treasure having a shop nearby that is so reliable. My mom, who is also in the area, loves visiting the shop with me and the staff are always lovely! The jewelry counter is great for gifts. Really, I don't know what I would do without New To You!! read more
